After its global debut earlier this month, Redmi is preparing to launch the Redmi 12 in India on August 1. It will be a 4G smartphone powered by the MediaTek Helio G88 chipset. A recent leak also revealed that a 5G variant of the Redmi 12 will also be launching soon in the global market.

Now, the Redmi 12 5G has emerged on Geekbench revealing some of its key specifications. As per the listing, the device has the model number 23076RN4BI and it features a 2.2GHz octa-core processor coupled with an Adreno 613 GPU. This is likely the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 5G chipset. The listing further confirms that the smartphone has 8GB RAM and it runs on Android 13-based operating system.

In terms of performance, the Redmi 12 impressed with its Geekbench scores. It achieved a single-core score of 916 and a multi-core score of 2,106. The listing does not reveal any other information, however, it looks like this is a rebrand of the Redmi Note 12R which launched in April in China. In a previous report, we discussed the rumors of the Redmi Note 12R launching as Redmi 12 5G in the global market and as Poco M5 5G in India.

What’s interesting is that this model has also been certified by the Bureau of Indian Standards, meaning that this is likely the Indian variant of the Redmi 12 5G. So, it looks like both the Xiaomi sub-brands, namely Poco and Redmi will be launching the rebranded Redmi Note 12R as Poco M6 Pro 5G and Redmi 12 5G in the Indian market. Additionally, for Indian customers, the device is likely to be marketed as the Poco M6 Pro 5G. It is important to note that the Poco M5 Pro has not been launched in India, suggesting the possibility of the brand skipping it entirely and introducing the M6 Pro 5G instead. Xiaomi’s newly launched smartphone under the Redmi brand, dubbed Redmi Note 12R, is now finally available for purchase in its home country China.

The Redmi Note 12R goes on sale in China today (i.e., 30th June) for the starting price of 1,099 yuan, roughly converting to $152.

The smartphone features a 6.79-inch LCD panel with a centered punch-hole for housing the camera sensor. It offers a Full HD+ screen resolution, a 90Hz refresh rate, a 240Hz touch sampling rate, and DC Dimming.

Under the hood, the device is powered by the newly announced Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset, offering 5G connectivity. It packs up to 8GB LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB of UFS 2.2 internal storage.

Last week, Redmi Note 12R was listed by China Telecom revealing its entire specs. Today, the smartwatch finally goes official in the brand’s home country china.

As Xiaomiui points out, the device shares most of its features with the recently released Redmi 12. In fact, we can consider Redmi Note 12R as a 5G version of Redmi 12.

On the software front, the Redmi Note 12R boots MIUI 14 based on Android 13. Finally, it draws energy from a 5,000mAh battery and carries support for 18W wired charging.

Redmi Note 12R Price

The Redmi Note 12R arrives in 4GB + 128GB, 6GB + 128GB, 8GB + 128GB, and 8GB + 256GB memory configurations. The base variant starts at just ¥999 (~$140) in China.

The handset can be availed in either black, blue, or silver gradient color options from China Telecom. There’s no official word on its international availability yet.
