Vivo has also fully embraced silicon-carbon battery tech across its X200 lineup. Xiaomi has made changes to fast charging in the new Redmi Note 14 family. 90W is pretty fast, but why did Xiaomi switch from 120W to 90W fast charging in this generation? Fast charging has been 120W since the Redmi Note 11 Pro+ 5G, and now it’s not normal to suddenly reduce fast charging to 90W.

Redmi Note 14 series brings changes to fast charging

The Arrival of the Redmi Note 14 Series

The Redmi Note 14 series is planned to be officially launched in September. With only 2.5 months to go until the launch, the anticipation is growing. The model numbers of the smartphones have appeared in the IMEI database, confirming the regions where the Note 14 series will be available.

Also, the Redmi Note 14 series has appeared in HyperOS source code. The top-end model, the Redmi Note 14 Pro+ 5G, has the internal model number “O16U” and the codename “amethyst“. This is in line with the tradition of naming the Redmi Note series with gemstones; amethyst is a transparent variety of quartz typically found in purple hues. The codenames of the Redmi Note 14 5G and Note 14 Pro 5G have not yet been detected.

As expected, these devices will come out of the box with HyperOS 1.0 based on Android 14. Following the Note 14 series, the Xiaomi 15 series will be introduced in October. With only 3-4 months to go until its launch, those considering buying a Note 13 series smartphone may find the upcoming Note 14 models worth the wait.
