HyperOS 3 now available for Xiaomi Band 10 & Redmi Note 14

The Chinese tech giant has just released the official stable build of the HyperOS 3 update for the Redmi Note 14 4G model. This update carries the OS3.0.4.0.WOGMIXM firmware version that carries a hefty download size of 5.3GB. The major software upgrade brings the latest Android 16 OS experience, along with visible upgrades like smoother animations, refined touch response, and under the hood performance optimizations.

As part of the update, Redmi Note 14 also gets new UI elements, including the “Hyper Island,” which is a dynamic live activity panel that showcases ongoing tasks like music, reminders, timers, and much more. It functions and appears similar to the Apple’s Dynamic Island function. Beyond interface polish, users should also see improved battery management, enhanced cross-device integration (for Xiaomi’s ecosystem), and security improvements.

On the other hand, the Xiaomi Smart Band 10 is the next device that is getting this update. To recall, this is a budget friendly wearable built for fitness enthusiasts. So all three models still sport a tall 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate.

Meanwhile, the base Note 14 4G features a 108MP + 2MP + 2MP triple camera setup, while both the Pro variants have a 200MP + 8MP + 2MP camera system. The Note 14 4G is powered by MediaTek’s Helio G99 Ultra SoC, while the Helio G100 Ultra powers the Note 14 Pro 4G. But the Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G arrives with the Dimensity 7300 Ultra chipset.

It is worth noting that these models have been announced for the global market, so we can expect the new Sand Gold variant to appear on regional websites soon. Looking at the new model, the gold finish is a lot more subtle and adds a touch of elegance to Xiaomi’s popular Redmi Note lineup. There is likely no bump to the pricing for a new color option, although the cost might vary depending on the market.

But ahead of the European announcement, the pricing for these smartphones and the smartwatch was leaked online.

The news arrives from a 91Mobiles report, which revealed the pricing details for these devices. To recall, the Redmi Note 14 lineup consists of the Note 14, Note 14 Pro, and Note 14 Pro+ models. Although, the report adds that the 4G only Redmi Note 14 4G will also debut alongside these three models in Europe. So it will likely arrive as the cheapest or entry level phone in the upcoming lineup.

The report sourced the pricing from retail listings, which revealed that the Redmi Note 14 4G will cost around 240 Euros for the 8GB + 256GB variant. It will be available in three colors options, namely Mightnight Black, Ocean Blue, and Lime Green. On the other hand, the Redmi Note 14 5G in Coral Green, Lavender Purple, and Midnight Black will launch for around 300 Euros in the region with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Xiaomi could launch a cheaper 6GB RAM option as well, but this is still unclear.

Interestingly, the Redmi Note 14 Pro series had its pricing revealed, bundled with the Redmi Watch 5 Lite. So the Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G (8GB + 256GB) with the Redmi Watch 5 Lite for 397 Euros, while the 4G Note 14 Pro with Watch 5 Lite may cost around 311 Euros. The Redmi Note 14 series is scheduled to launch in India on December 9 (Monday). The lineup includes three models, namely Redmi Note 14, Redmi Note 14 Pro, and Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus.

The three phones are the same as the ones released in China. However, it is worth noting that the base version has an extra rear camera (ultrawide unit).

Unsurprisingly, the Pro Plus offers the best features of all. It comes with a 1.5K 120Hz curved OLED display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chip, and a 50MP 2.5x telephoto camera. Whereas the Pro features a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Ultra SoC and misses out on the telephoto camera.

Finally, the vanilla variant arrives with an FHD+ 120Hz OLED display and a MediaTek Dimensity 7025 Ultra chip.

Motorola Moto G35

Motorola will announce the price and availability of the Moto G35 in India on December 10 (Tuesday). The phone was unveiled in some markets a few months back.

It is built around a 6.72-inch 120Hz display (LCD). Under the hood, it houses a Unisoc T760 chip and a 5,000mAh battery which supports 18W charging.

Further, the handset comes with a 50MP main camera, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and a dedicated MicroSD card slot.

Realme Neo 7

The Realme Neo 7 will be made official in China on December 11 (Wednesday). It will be the first non-GT Neo phone from the brand.

The handset will be run by a MediaTek Dimensity 9300 Plus SoC. It will draw power from a huge 7,000mAh battery and support 80W wired charging.

The device will sport a 6.78-inch 1.5K 120Hz LTPO and a 50MP + 8MP dual camera system. It will be available in three colors, such as black, white, and blue.

Vivo X200 Series

The Vivo X200 series is set to debut in India on December 12 (Thursday). There will be two phones: Vivo X200 and Vivo X200 Pro.

Both handsets are powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 9400 chip. However, the pro variant has a slightly larger display and a better camera system.

Only the 50MP ultrawide unit and the 32MP selfie camera are the same on the two. Otherwise, the Pro variant has a larger 50MP main sensor and the periscope telephoto shooter is a 3.7x 200MP unit instead of a 50MP 3x sensor.

Both support 90W wired charging but only the pro can charge wireless at 30W.

The base model of the Redmi Note 14 will feature a flat-edge display. That’s a departure from the curved displays seen on its Pro siblings. The rear camera setup will include a 50MP primary sensor with Sony’s LYT-600 sensor and OIS (Optical Image Stabilization), along with a 2MP depth sensor.

A welcome detail for audiophiles – the Redmi Note 14 will likely retain the beloved 3.5mm headphone jack. And while Indian specifications haven’t been fully revealed yet, leaks suggest the phone will sport a 6.67-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. 

The device is expected to be powered by the Dimensity 7025 Ultra chipset, coupled with a 5,110mAh battery for extended usage.

Redmi Note 14 Pro

The Redmi Note 14 Pro steps up with a more premium design and improved durability. It features a 3D curved AMOLED display, protected by the latest Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. It also offers water and dust resistance, confirmed with an IP68 rating. The camera system is expected to mirror the base model, with a 50MP primary sensor and OIS, though further details remain undisclosed.

In the Chinese version, the Note 14 Pro sported a larger 6.67-inch curved AMOLED display with a sharper 1.5K resolution, while maintaining the 120Hz refresh rate. 

It was powered by the Dimensity 7300 Ultra chipset and featured an upgraded camera setup, including an 8MP ultrawide lens, alongside the 50MP primary and 2MP depth sensors. The battery capacity was increased to 5,500mAh from its predecessor’s 5100mAh cell. 

Redmi Note 14 Pro+

The Redmi Note 14 Pro+ is set to be the flagship of the series. It will likely retain the 3D curved AMOLED display seen in the Pro variant. 

Xiaomi has also teased over 20 unique AI-powered features for the phone. While not explicitly mentioning the features here, it could be some useful camera tricks like object removal or something. 

The teaser image also reveals the phone’s design with a triple rear camera setup with OIS support.

Similar to the Chinese variant, the Redmi Note 14 Pro+ is likely to feature the same 6.67-inch curved AMOLED display as the Pro model. However, it will be powered by the more powerful Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 processor. 

The camera system on the back includes a 50MP primary sensor with OIS, an 8MP ultrawide lens, and a 50MP telephoto lens. To top it off, the Redmi Note 14 Pro+ is expected to include the largest battery ever seen in a Redmi Note series, with a substantial 6,200mAh capacity for extended usage.

Redmi A4, Redmi Note 14 series India launch

The report confirms that Xiaomi will launch the Redmi A4 in the Indian market in November. This phone will be the first to feature Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 processor. Xiaomi has already showcased the device’s design at the India Mobile Congress (IMC) in October.

Building on the momentum of the festive season, Xiaomi plans to follow up with the Redmi Note 14 series in December 2024. This will mark the first time since the pandemic that Xiaomi launched two Note series devices in the same year.

Xiaomi used to release two generations of the Note series six months apart. This schedule changed due to COVID-19, but it seems things are returning to normal. For example, the Redmi Note 13 series launched in India in June. And we are getting its successor in December. 

Xiaomi’s Chief Marketing Officer for India, Anuj Sharma, explained the rationale behind the accelerated release cycle: 

“After 2022, we slowed down to an annual cycle… now, with improved efficiency and manufacturing alignment, we’re ready to return to a dual-launch approach.”

The Redmi Note 14 series features a revamped camera design and upgraded chipsets, including a rumored 200MP sensor in some models. It also offers larger batteries and faster charging capabilities.

While Xiaomi hasn’t confirmed pricing details for the Indian market, the series is expected to target various mid-range segments, ranging from under Rs 20,000 to potentially exceeding Rs 30,000.

The Chinese tech giant’s Redmi Note 14 5G was spotted on Indonesia’s SDPPI certification database. The platform lists the smartphone with the 24094RAD4G model number along with its moniker. This sighting hints that the global launch of the Note 14 could be near. This certification sighting arrived days after the Redmi Note 14 Pro+ got clearance for launch in India. This same model even beat Apple’s iPhone 16 Pro Max in terms of popularity. Notably, the Redmi Note 14 Pro series is expected to launch globally with a 200-megapixel primary camera.

Unfortunately, the certification did not reveal any finer details, such as its specifications, features, and more. But based on the Chinese launch, the Redmi Note 14 5G sports a 6.67-inch OLED display with 1.5K resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and 2,100 nits of peak brightness. Like previous generations, the pro variants have received several upgrades over their predecessors. On the other hand, the vanilla model is more or less the same as its forerunners with minor differences.

This has been the case for quite a while now. The standard Redmi Note has become the most boring device in the lineup with nothing interesting to offer.

However, there’s always a new vanilla Redmi Note every year. So what does the new Redmi Note 14 have to offer? Let’s find out.

How is Redmi Note 14 better than Redmi Note 13?

Brighter Display & Speakers

The Redmi Note 14 has almost the same display as the Redmi Note 13 with one major difference. The screen on the newer model is brighter at 2,000 nits compared to 1,000 nits on the older phone.

With a boost in brightness, the display on Redmi Note 14 also supports HDR10 and HDR10+ content. The panel is further complemented by dual stereo speakers, which are absent in last two regular Redmi Notes.

Anyways, the size and display remain the same at 6.67-inch and FHD+ (2400 x 1080 pixels) as the Redmi Note 13. Other retained specs are 120Hz refresh rate, 240Hz (up to 2160Hz) touch sampling rate, and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection.

Interestingly, the new model lacks support for 1920Hz PWM dimming. But it comes with a slightly better IP64 rating for splash resistance as compared to IP54 on the older device.

Better Primary Camera

The Redmi Note 14 has a new primary camera. It comes with a 50MP sensor with f/1.5 aperture and OIS. For comparison, the Redmi Note 13 has a 108MP main camera without OIS and a slower f/1.7 aperture.

The new camera is still limited to 1080p 30fps video recording. However, it supports 720p 120fps slow-motion video recording.

The secondary 2MP is still a depth sensor and the front 16MP selfie camera remains the same.

Slightly More Powerful

The Redmi Note 14 houses a MediaTek Dimensity 7025 Ultra chipset. The only other phones with this chip are Motorola Moto G64 and Moto G55.

This mobile platform has a better GPU than the one included with the Dimensity 6080 SoC inside the Redmi Note 13. Thus, the newer handset should fare better in gaming. 

Otherwise, the day-to-day performance should be more or less the same. Both also come with the same LPDDR4x RAM and UFS 2.2 storage.

Same Price

Redmi Note 14 is priced similarly to the Redmi Note 13 in China, except for one variant.

The device starts at ¥1199 (~$170) for 6GB + 128GB and goes all the way up to ¥1699 (~$240) for 12GB + 256GB. While the mid 8GB + 128GB and 8GB + 256GB variants are priced at ¥1399 (~$200) and ¥1499 (~$215), respectively.

The 8GB + 128GB version is ¥100 (~$15) costlier than that of Redmi Note 13 at launch.

The official images of the Note 14 Pro and 14 Pro+ reveal that both devices will have a curved-edged display on the front. The global Note 14 Pro is said to come with a triple-camera setup with a telephoto module. But the Chinese counterpart may swap it for a less useful macro lens.

Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus

The Redmi Note 14 Pro, unsurprisingly, will be the most expensive device in the line. It will feature the same 1.5K AMOLED display as its more affordable siblings but is expected to have a curved panel for improved grip and aesthetics.

The back design of the phone will likely remain the same as the Note 14 Pro, though. A report further reveals that the Note 14 Pro+ will feature a plastic frame and an optical in-screen fingerprint sensor for security.

Under the hood, the 14 Pro Plus is expected to be powered by a Dimensity 7350 chipset. It’s a new chip from MediaTek, made on a 4nm manufacturing processor, and includes processing cores with a top speed of 3 GHz.

Recently, a Redmi phone with the 24094RAD4C model number was approved by China’s 3C authority. The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) in India has now approved the Indian variant of the device with the 24094RAD4I model number. Alongside the Indian variant, an upcoming Poco phone has also emerged through BIS certification.

Alleged Redmi Note 14 / Poco X7 Neo BIS certified

As can be seen above, two upcoming smartphones with model numbers 24094RAD4I and 2409FPCC4I have received approval from the BIS authority. As mentioned above, the former seems to be the Indian version of the Redmi Note 14. In June, Europe’s EEC certified the global version of this same device, bearing the 24094RAD4G model number.

The letters “PC” mentioned in the 2409FPCC4I model number suggest that it is an upcoming Poco smartphone.  To recall, Redmi announced the Redmi Note 13 5G, equipped with the Dimensity 6080 chipset. In March, Poco announced the Dimensity 6080-powered Poco X6 Neo as a tweaked version of the Redmi Note 14. Hence, it seems like the 2409FPCC4I could be the model number of the Poco X7 Neo.

Readers are advised to digest the above information with a pinch of salt. The 3C certification of the purported Redmi Note 14 revealed that it may ship with a 45W rapid charger. Unfortunately, the other specifications of the device are yet to be revealed.

Reports indicate that the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 and Dimensity 7350 chipsets, respectively, will power the Redmi Note 14 Pro and 14 Pro+. Both phones may feature a 1.5K resolution OLED panel with curved edges and a 50-megapixel triple camera system on the back.

The Redmi Note 13 series of smartphones was announced in September 2023 in China. The Note 13 models became available to markets outside of China at the beginning of this year. A new development suggests that the Redmi Note 14 series could be launching soon in the home market. The reason behind it is that three new devices that reportedly belong to the Note 14 lineup have received radio certification in the country.

Purported Redmi Note 14 series bags radio certification

Last month, three Redmi phones with model numbers 24115RA8EC, 24094RAD4C, and 24094RA29C were spotted in the IMEI database. The listings did not reveal their exact monikers. While they are said to be part of the Note 14 series, there is no clarity on which model number corresponds to the Note 14 Pro+, Note 14 Pro, and Note 14. The global versions and Indian variants of the above-mentioned Chinese variants were also spotted.

Now, the 24115RA8EC, 24094RAD4C, and 24094RA29C Redmi phones have received approval from the radio certification platform in China. As usual, the certifications do not reveal anything significant about these phones. However, it does hint that the Note 14 series will be coming soon to the Chinese market.

It remains to be seen whether the Note 14 series will debut in early September in China. Reports indicate that the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 and the Dimensity 7350 chipsets, respectively, could power the Note 14 Pro and Note 14 Pro+.

As the global market prepares for the Note 13 series, a Chinese tipster has claimed that the brand is preparing to unveil the Note 14 series for the domestic market.

Realme 12 Pro vs Redmi Note 14 Pro likely to happen soon

Recent reports have revealed that Realme plans to unveil the Realme 12 series of smartphones in the first quarter of 2024. The Realme 12 lineup is likely to include multiple models, but the rumor mill hasn’t revealed significant details yet. However, reports have provided key details about the Realme 12 Pro series.

It is too early to speculate on the specifications of the Note 14 lineup, so it is advisable to wait for further reports before making any assumptions.
