Alongside the announcement, Redmi has confirmed that the Note 17 series will debut later this month, hinting at upgrades across display, battery, durability and the overall user experience.

One notable change this year is the branding. Instead of introducing a Note 16 lineup, the company appears to have aligned the naming with Xiaomi’s flagship number series by jumping directly to Note 17.

The company has not shared official hardware specifications yet, but leaks suggest the series could include at least three models, which are named as Note 17, Note 17 Pro, and Note 17 Pro Max by the rumor mill.

As per a recent report, the standard Redmi Note 17 is tipped to feature a 6.83-inch flat OLED display with 1.5K resolution, the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 chipset, 67W fast charging, a 50-megapixel main camera, and an optical in-display fingerprint scanner.

The Redmi Note 17 Pro is expected to offer a 1.5K flat display, a Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 processor, a 9,000mAh battery, a 50-megapixel primary camera, dual speakers and full water resistance. Meanwhile, the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max is rumoured to feature a 1.5K flat display, MediaTek Dimensity 7500 chip, a 10,100mAh battery, a 200-megapixel main camera, dual speakers, and a fully water-resistant design.

Today, tipster Smart Pikachu hinted that the upcoming Redmi Note 17 series could bring significant upgrades over the current generation. According to the leak, even the mid-range models are expected to receive major improvements across key areas such as performance, battery capacity, display quality, and durability.

Redmi Note 17 series key specifications tipped

As per the leak, one of the alleged Redmi Note 17 models may feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 chipset, paired with a 9,000mAh battery, water resistance, a 1.5K flat OLED display, and a 50-megapixel primary camera. This model is likely to be called the Redmi Note 17. Another variant is tipped to arrive with the Dimensity 7500 chipset, a massive 10,000mAh battery, water resistance, a 1.5K flat display, and a 200-megapixel main camera.

To recall, last year’s Redmi Note 15 Pro and Note 15 Pro+ (Chinese variants) were powered by the Dimensity 7400-Ultra and Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chipsets, respectively. Both were equipped with a 200-megapixel primary camera.

Hence, it appears that the Dimensity 7500 (or 7500-Ultra) model equipped with a 200-megapixel camera could be one of the Note 17 Pro series phones. It remains to be seen whether it will be called the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max.

According to tipster Digital Chat Station, the Redmi Note 17 will debut in July. However, the Pro models may launch in late July or August. Redmi is currently gearing up for the launch of the Redmi K90 Ultra, which is set to take place on June 30 in China. Hence, it appears that Redmi Note 17 teasers may only arrive a few days after the K90 Ultra launch.

Redmi Note 17 Pro Max key details emerge

Citing Mi Code as the source, the publication revealed that the Chinese variant of the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max will feature a new MediaTek chip with the model number MT6881. This chipset is expected to launch in the market as the Dimensity 7500. The device is likely to arrive as the successor to last year’s Redmi Note 15 Pro+, which featured the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chipset.

Moving to the camera department, the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max is said to feature a 200-megapixel Samsung HP5 primary camera and an 8-megapixel OmniVision OV8F10 ultra-wide sensor. Despite being positioned as the top-end model in the lineup, the device may not include a telephoto camera. For selfies, it is expected to feature a 32-megapixel Samsung S5KKDS front-facing camera.

By packing a 10,000mAh battery, the Note 17 Pro Max could become Xiaomi’s biggest battery smartphone to date. The report also claims that the global version of the phone may feature a slightly smaller 9,210mAh battery, possibly to comply with EU safety regulations. The handset is also expected to support 100W fast charging.

A recent report revealed that the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max will have house a massive 7-inch display with a flat design. While other specs of the device are under wraps, it is expected to break cover in July or August this year.

A previous leak claimed that this 10,000mAh Redmi phone may support 100W charging and could feature a 200-megapixel primary camera. At present, there is no information available about the other specifications of this phone.

What happened to the Redmi Note 16 series?

Since Redmi unveiled the Redmi Note 15 series in August 2025 in China, the next-generation series was expected to be called the Note 16. However, a report by XiaomiTime revealed that IMEI database listings indicate the next lineup will be called the Note 17. Readers are advised to wait for more reports to confirm whether the company has finalized the Note 17 branding for its next Note series.

This generational skip aligns with Xiaomi’s decision to skip the Xiaomi 16 and jump directly to Xiaomi 17 this year after launching the Xiaomi 15 series last year.
