The company has found profound success in that segment and in fact, price and a spectacular design helped the company&#8217;s <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/redmi">Redmi</a> series become renowned in that price segment. Redmi is now an independent brand but the popularity of its product offering continue to resonate.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Xiaomi-Redmi-Note-7.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-252329" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Xiaomi-Redmi-Note-7.jpg?x10805" alt="Xiaomi Redmi Note 7" width="900" height="666" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Xiaomi-Redmi-Note-7.jpg 900w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Xiaomi-Redmi-Note-7-300x222.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Xiaomi-Redmi-Note-7-768x568.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Xiaomi-Redmi-Note-7-80x60.jpg 80w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Xiaomi-Redmi-Note-7-485x360.jpg 485w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Xiaomi-Redmi-Note-7-696x515.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Xiaomi-Redmi-Note-7-568x420.jpg 568w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></a></p>
<p>The company has disclosed on its Weibo page that the sales of the Redmi Note 7 series have hit 20 million units. Coming barely seven months after the Redmi Note 7 went on sale, this feat is monumental. The figure encompasses all units sold all over the world and not just in China. As of May, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/05/27/redmi-note-7-breaks-10-million-sales-in-129-days/">the company had already sold over 10 million units</a>, according to official data. Also, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/08/02/xiaomi-has-sold-over-5-million-redmi-note-7-series-in-india-even-as-the-note-7-pro-goes-on-open-sale/">Redmi Note 7 sales in India stands at over 5 million units</a> as at the beginning of August.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/redmi-note-7-sales.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-271194" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/redmi-note-7-sales.jpg?x10805" alt="Redmi Note 7" width="500" height="666" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/redmi-note-7-sales.jpg 500w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/redmi-note-7-sales-225x300.jpg 225w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/redmi-note-7-sales-315x420.jpg 315w" sizes="(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px" /></a></p>
<p>The poster thanks all the 20 million users of the Redmi Note 7 smartphone and also hinted that it is now time to move to the Redmi Note 8. Apparently, the Chinese tech giant has an announcement to make tomorrow about the Redmi Note 8 as the post ends with the words &#8220;see you tomorrow&#8221;. No, the company isn&#8217;t likely planning to announce the Note 8 tomorrow. Rather, Redmi may announce the launch date of the Redmi Note 8. Lei Jun has already hinted at an August 29 launch date. An official announcement may be made in that regard tomorrow. We&#8217;ll be on the lookout for any new development.</p>

The latest set of videos we came across contained tests carried out by the new Redmi CEO Lu Weibing.</p>
<p><iframe loading="lazy" title="Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 drop test by Redmi CEO Lu Weibing (21.01.2019)" width="696" height="392" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/h9WBZFKfoIk?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" allowfullscreen></iframe></p>
<p>In the first video, the CEO placed the phone inside a trash can which was then covered with duct tape. Thereafter, the bin was sent crashing down the stairs. The phone fell down 18 stairs in 4 seconds, a total height of 2.7m (9ft). The test isn&#8217;t really convincing because we believe most phones will survive such crash under the protection of the trash bin.</p>
<p>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e2CJyLHC3Xs</p>
<p>The second video looks more daring and extreme as the device is used as a skateboard. Lu Weibing strapped a pair of rollers each on two Redmi Note 7 units. The rollers were attached with their base resting on the screen and then, duct tape was used to hold it in place firmly. The CEO had someone use the duct tape to attach the phone to the sole of his legs. He then made attempts to move about with the skateboard. The bottom line is, the Redmi Note 7 screen succeeded in maintaining its integrity even after carrying such weight.</p>

<p>We recently saw a video of the Redmi Note 7&#8217;s screen being smashed and stamped but the Gorilla Glass 5 remained tough. There should be no doubt, then, that Xiaomi is delivering a smartphone with perhaps the toughest screen in its pricing category.</p>

The survey was carried out on Weibo and as at the time of reporting, over 20,000 persons have responded to the survey. The survey aims to find out which of the memory configurations fans would go for among five options of 3GB+32GB storage, 4GB+ 64 GB storage, 6GB + 64GB storage, 4GB+128GB and 6GB+128GB.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/redmi-note-7-2-1.png?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-233006" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/redmi-note-7-2-1.png?x10805" alt="redmi note 7" width="597" height="359" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/redmi-note-7-2-1.png 597w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/redmi-note-7-2-1-300x180.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 597px) 100vw, 597px" /></a></p>
<p>The Redmi Note 7 was launched and made available in three memory configuration of 3 GB RAM + 32 GB storage, 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage and 6 GB RAM + 64 GB storage. However, the survey had the 4GB+128GB and 6GB+128GB options as a new addition. A recent TENAA certification shows the company may be planning to release the 4GB+128GB variant of the Redmi Note 7 soon. However, the 6GB + 128GB storage variant turned out to be the favourite option among the majority of the respondents.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/redmi-survey.png?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-233010" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/redmi-survey.png?x10805" alt="" width="599" height="518" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/redmi-survey.png 599w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/redmi-survey-300x259.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 599px) 100vw, 599px" /></a></p>

<p>Out of the total number of respondents, 54.3% prefer the 6GB+128GB variant with a slightly higher 1599 yuan ($235) price tag. While 23.9% of the respondents went for the 6GB+64GB variant for 1399 yuan ($206) despite having the same price with the 4GB + 128GB variant which 12.8% went for. The 3GB + 32GB variant had the least vote which is an indication that it may soon disappear from the mid-range segment. The fans favourite Redmi Note 7 6GB + 128GB variant may likely be released by Xiaomi in the near future, perhaps after the Spring festival. Recall that the company released a 6GB+128GB variant of the Redmi Note 5 four months after the initial launch.</p>
