The Redmi Note 8 Pro‘s launched was headlined by the 64MP main camera sensor which it packs and the MediaTek Helio G90T chipset. But those are not the only stunning features of the device which was launched alongside the Redmi Note 8 on August 29. The phone comes with a massive 4500mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging.

Xiaomi’s president Lin Bin has had his hands on the premium mid-ranger and he apparently carried out a test of the Note 8 Pro battery’s durability. The screenshot of the phone’s battery usage graph shows that the phone has been running for 2 days and 9 hours and 80% of the battery has been exhausted with 20% still remaining. The phone wasn’t on standby so that is an amazing delivery but we must state the usage wasn’t a heavy one either.

The battery usage details show the mobile network signal, WLAN, Awake and Screen on components which equally includes the Android system and system apps were responsible for the usage. So, we expect a faster slump when heavy apps such as games are in use. But with a 45000mAh battery, the phone still should take you through the day without running out of battery power.

As a reminder, the Redmi Note 8 Pro packs a 6.53-inch IPS LCD display with full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels and 91.4% screen-to-body ratio. The screen has the waterdrop notch design where the 20MP selfie camera is housed. The phone also comes with an IP52 splash resistant body and TUV Rheinland certification for the display meaning it filters harmful blue rays. The device is wrapped with Gorilla Glass 5 panels at the front and rear. At its heart is a MediaTek Helio G90T processor paired with 6GB/8GB RAM. The handset comes in 64GB and 128GB storage options. There is equally a dedicated microSD card slot for expansion.

Xiaomi’s Redmi brand took the wraps off the premium mid-range Redmi Note 8 Pro in China yesterday. The device was launched alongside the Redmi Note 8 but there is no dispute that the Redmi Note 8 Pro holds the ace.

In terms of the design, the build quality, hardware configuration and more, the Note 8 Pro promises to be a top-seller. The demand is expected to hit the roof and that may be why Redmi’s GM Lu Weibing hinted during the launch that the device will not be launched in India any time soon. Fans in India will have to wait for the next 2-3  months before the device will be launched over there. While we wait, here are a couple of hands-on/unboxing pictures of the Redmi Note 8 Pro in all its glory.

The cameras are stacked vertically with three sensors  and the rear fingerprint sensor in one module while the fourth sensor is at the right side in the same plane with the LED flash. The quad-camera setup includes an f/1.7 aperture 64MP ISOCELL Bright GW1 as a primary lens, an ultrawide lens of 8MP, a 2MP macro lens with 2cm focal length and a depth sensor of 2MP. The mains lens that has a large pixel size of 1.6micron can capture high-resolution images of 9248 x 6936 pixels. The Note 8 Pro can shoot 960fps slow-motion videos.

The antennas of the phone are arranged smartly inside the phone so that it does not obstruct signals while holding the device in landscape mode while playing games. You also get a superlinear speaker with smart PA, NFC, IR blaster, dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, GPS, USB-C and 3.5mm audio jack onboard. It runs MIUI 10 based on Android 9 Pie and features Game Turbo 2.0.

Pricing starts at 1,399 Yuan (~$195) for the 6GB+64GB variant. The 6GB+128GB variant is priced at 1,599 Yuan (~$223) while the 8GB RAM + 128GB storage comes in at 1,799 Yuan (~$251). Redmi yesterday unveiled the Redmi Note 8 Pro alongside the Redmi Note 8 in China. As expected, we will be seeing more of the models in terms of promotional materials. One of the ways Redmi has chosen to promote the model is by releasing the teardown images of the device showing the internals.

The Redmi Note 8 Pro comes with a number of firsts which are revealed by the teardown. The premium mid-range model is the first phone to use MediaTek’s Helio G90T chipset. The device is also the first phone to use the 64MP ISOCELL Bright Samsung GW1 sensor which is the main sensor in a quad-camera setup. The teardown also shows the remaining rear cameras as well as the selfie cam. The Note 8 Pro uses a liquid cooling technology which can be found in popular gaming smartphones.

Xiaomi is expected to take the wraps off the Redmi Note 8 alongside the Note 8 Pro on August 29. Ahead of the launch, several promotional materials about the models have been hitting the internet, revealing the design and key specifications. The latest is a couple of camera samples shot on the Redmi Note 8 Pro.

The Redmi Note 8 Pro will have as its biggest highlight, the 64MP camera sensor at the rear. The sensor was recently announced by Samsung. Realme already demoed the technology but it seems the Redmi Note 8 Pro will be the first device to launch with the camera.

The pictures were shared by Lu Weibing, the brand manager of Redmi. One of the pictures is actually a large three-meter-tall poster of the Redmi Note 8 Pro camera sample which was mounted in front of Xiaomi’s Beijing HQ. That image may not be a true representation of the actual quality of the camera output. However, a second sample also appeared which is a view of the Beijing skyline. Although the sample is impressive, it is not the best we have seen from Xiaomi.

The Redmi Note 8 Pro is expected to feature a Tetracell sensor which produces 16MP images with 4-to-1 pixel binning. The device is said to have 25x zoom capability and will be powered by a MediaTek Helio G90T chipset. This will be yet another first for the Redmi Note 8 Pro.
