Xiaomi’s new Redmi Pad 2 is here, and it brings a set of meaningful upgrades over the original Redmi Pad that launched back in 2022. Aimed at budget-conscious users who want a reliable tablet experience, here are the major improvements in the second-gen model.

Redmi Pad 2: Smoother, Brighter, and Taller Display

The Chinese tech giant’s original Redmi Pad debuted with a 10.61-inch LCD screen with a 2K resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. It also offered up to 400 nits of peak brightness. These specs were decent for a budget tablet in 2022, but the latest Redmi Pad 2 improves in almost every aspect.

It sports a taller 11-inch LCD panel with a higher 2.5K resolution and a higher peak brightness of up to 600 nits. Unfortunately, the Redmi Pad 2 retains the same 90Hz refresh rate.

Faster Performance

Xiaomi equips the Redmi Pad 2 with a more powerful and newer MediaTek Helio G100 Ultra chipset. This allows it to outperform the older Helio G99, which powers the first gen Redmi Pad. So you can expect better multitasking, smoother daily performance, and improvements in casual mobile gaming.

The Redmi Pad pairs this chipset with up to 4GB of RAM and up to 128GB of internal storage (3GB + 64GB base in India). Meanwhile, even the base model of the Redmi Pad 2 offers a 6GB + 128GB storage configuration, with the top end variant offering 8GB + 256GB in the Philippines. But it is worth noting that the European version featured 4GB of RAM.

Bigger Battery & HyperOS

Owing to their larger size compared to typical smartphones, tablets can house larger battery packs that can offer long battery life. The original Redmi Pad is powered by a respectable 8,000mAh battery, which supports 18W wired fast charging.

While the fast charging rate remains the same at 18W, the battery pack sees a noticeable upgrade to a 9,000mAh cell. Back in 2022, Xiaomi’s devices still ran on the MIUI custom skin. However, the Redmi Pad 2 features the newer Android 15 OS based HyperOS 2.0 platform. This makes it more up to date with newer features, UI, and much more. A couple days ago we shared with you that Xiaomi works on a new tablet, Redmi Pad SE 8.7 4G. Our recent findings from our database revealed the model number and marketing name of the Xiaomi’s upcoming tablet. Now, the tablet we discovered in our database has received IMDA certification, further solidifying the fact that the tablet will indeed be launched. Expect the launch of Redmi Pad SE 8.7 very soon.

Previously, we shared that Xiaomi is working on a tablet named Redmi Pad SE 8.7 4G. This suggests a new connectivity option compared to the earlier Redmi Pad SE. The new one will support mobile data connectivity. The previously introduced Redmi Pad SE featured an 11-inch screen, whereas the upcoming tablet will have an 8.7-inch display.

A new device with the model number 24076RP19G surfaced on IMDA’s website. This matches the model number we shared in our earlier Redmi Pad SE 8.7 leak. Although the IMDA certification doesn’t include the marketing name, we already know which device this model number belongs to.

Redmi Pad SE 8.7 has different model numbers for the global and India variants. The Chinese variant hasn’t surfaced yet, so it’s uncertain if Xiaomi will launch this device in China or not. We expect Xiaomi to expecte introduce an affordable compact tablet soon, likely in July 2024.

Redmi has just launched its affordable Redmi Pad SE tablet in India. The tablet has a starting price of Rs 12,999 and is set to go on sale starting today. However, it is worth noting that Redmi Pad, which launched in 2022, is still a better tablet at this price range. If you are planning to buy the new Redmi Pad SE, we recommend that you go through this article before making your decision.

Redmi Pad has a better processor

We start with a big deciding factor, which is the processor in these tablets. While the Redmi Pad SE uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 processor, the Redmi Pad uses a comparatively newer MediaTek Helio G99 processor. The Helio G99 isn’t just newer, but it also offers on average about 25% better performance compared to the Snapdragon 680. On AnTuTu, the Redmi Pad (6GB RAM model) scores around 319,077 points (AnTuTu V9), while the Snapdragon 680-powered Redmi Pad SE scores around 242,000 points.

It is a lot better for gaming

While both of these tablets aren’t ideal for gaming, if you are thinking of buying the Redmi Pad SE for gaming, the older Redmi Pad has it beat in that department as well. On paper, it has a 30% faster GPU than the one on the Pad SE. In games like BGMI, the Redmi Pad (4GB & 6GB RAM models) is capable of running the game on Ultra FPS mode with smooth and balanced graphics settings, and on High FPS mode with HD graphics. Compared to that, the Redmi Pad SE is capable of running BGMI in High FPS mode with smooth graphics settings.

Faster storage

While both the Redmi Pad and Pad SE use LPDDR4X RAM, the Redmi Pad uses a faster UFS 2.2 storage compared to the eMMC 5.1 storage on the Pad SE. To put it into perspective, UFS 2.1 can reach up to 800 MB/s read and 500 MB/s write speeds, while eMMC 5.1 is limited to around 400 MB/s read and 200 MB/s write speeds. Other than file transfers, storage plays a key part in app loading times and smooth multitasking.

Faster charging

The Redmi Pad SE has launched with an 8,000mAh battery that supports 10W fast charging. In comparison, the older Redmi Pad has the same-sized battery with 18W fast charging. While this difference isn’t that significant, the Redmi Pad does save some time on charging.

Price point

The Redmi Pad SE’s 4GB RAM + 128GB storage is priced at Rs 12,999, with a further Rs with a further Rs 1,000 when using ICICI Bank cards for transactions. The 6GB RAM and 8GB RAM models of the tablet with the same amount of storage have a price tag of Rs 13,999 and Rs 14,999 without discounts.

Interestingly, the 4GB RAM + 128GB storage model of the Redmi Pad is currently selling on Flipkart for Rs. 11,999, and the 6GB RAM model is going for Rs. 13,499. The brand is also currently offering ICICI Bank card discounts on purchases that can further knock its price down by Rs. 1,250.

The Tradeoffs

While the Redmi Pad beats the SE model in a lot of areas including the current market price, we would also like to point out some of its strong points. Firstly, it has a slightly larger 11-inch LCD display compared to the 10.61-inch LCD on the Redmi Pad. Both of these panels offer 90Hz refresh rate and support Widewine L1, meaning that you get access to Full HD playback on streaming apps like Netflix.

The Redmi Pad SE has launched with Android 13 installed, and the brand has promised two major Android updates along with three years of software support. This means that the Redmi Pad SE will receive the Android 14-based HyperOS update, as well as Android 15. The older Redmi Pad, released in 2022 under a similar policy, started with Android 12 and has already been updated to Android 14-based HyperOS. As a result, it won’t be getting any further updates.

Xiaomi launched the Redmi Pad in October last year. It was offered in three RAM and storage configurations and arrived as a budget tablet in the Rs 15,000 – 20,000 price segment. Now a year after the launch, the Xiaomi sub-brand has quietly slashed the prices of the Redmi Pad. The revised prices are reflected on the brand’s official website and Flipkart. Additionally, there is also a bank offer that can reduce the purchase price of the tablet. Read on to know all the details. 

Redmi Pad price in India slashed

The Redmi Pad is available in 3GB + 64GB, 4GB + 128GB, and 6GB + 128GB RAM and storage options. These were priced at Rs 14,999, Rs 17,999, and Rs 19,999 respectively. The base option has received a price cut of Rs 1,000 whereas the 4GB and 6GB RAM variants are now cheaper by Rs 3,000 and Rs 2,000 respectively. This means that the 3GB 4GB, and 6GB RAM models now cost Rs 13,999, Rs 14,999, and Rs 16,999 respectively. 

Additionally, Xiaomi is also offering a Rs 1,000 instant discount on the base model on HDFC Bank credit card and EMI and ICICI net banking transactions. This means that the variant can be purchased at Rs 12,999. On the 4GB and 6GB options, there is a Rs 1,500 instant discount which will bring down the price to Rs 13,499 and Rs 15,499 respectively. The bank offer is valid till December 31.

Interested buyers can also exchange their old smartphone while purchasing the Redmi Pad. 

As for the core specifications, the Redmi Pad has a 10.6-inch 2K display with a 90Hz refresh rate and 400 nits peak brightness. It features 8MP front and rear cameras. The tablet is equipped with quad speakers with Dolby Atmos. The Redmi Pad is powered by a Helio G99 SoC and is backed by an 8,000mAh battery unit with support for 18W charging.

Tech giant Xiaomi has recently started pushing its latest MIUI 14 operating system to Redmi Pad, which promises to offer several impressive features. Redmi Pad boasts a 10.61-inch 10-bit LCD screen with 90Hz refresh rate, 70% NTSC color gamut, 400 nits brightness, and TUV Rheinland low blue light certification, making it a highly immersive and visually stunning experience.

Xiaomi-backed Redmi launched its first entry-level tablet, dubbed Redmi Pad, a few weeks ago in its home country China. When the device went on sale in China, it sold over 75,000 units on the first day of the sale.

Today, the company has launched a new model of the Redmi Pad in China, which comes packed with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, for the price of 1,799 yuan which roughly converts to $250.

Prior to the launch of this 8GB RAM and 128GB storage model, the Redmi Pad was already available in two memory options — 4GB RAM with 128GB storage and 6GB RAM with 128GB internal storage, costing 1,299 yuan (~$180) and 1,499 yuan (~$208), respectively.

Coming to the specifications, the tablet features a 10.6-inch IPS LCD screen with a 2K resolution of 2000 x 1200 pixels and a 90Hz refresh rate. It offers a peak brightness of 400 nits and boasts SGS eye protection and TUV Rheinland certification.

Under the hood, the device is powered by a MediaTek Helio G99 processor, coupled with up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. It also has a microSD card slot, allowing users to expand the storage capacity up to 1TB.

Display

If you need the best viewing quality, then you should choose the Redmi Pad. It has an IPS LCD display able to show up to one billion colors with a diagonal of 10.61 inches, a Full HD Plus resolution of 1200 x 2000 pixels, a 90 Hz refresh rate, and a typical brightness of 400 nits. It is not an OLED panel, so it does not provide stunning colors and deep blacks like the high-end phones, but it is still a great display in terms of color reproduction, and it also offers a smoother experience thanks to the high refresh rate. The Lenovo Tab P11 Gen 2 has a wider 11.5-inch display and its bigger dimensions are very important for productivity. It even supports the stylus for handwriting and drawing, unlike its opponent. However, it is inferior in terms of image quality. It has a Full HD Plus resolution of 1200 x 2000 pixels, a standard 60 Hz refresh rate, and a typical brightness of 400 nits. These tablets are equipped with four stereo speakers and they provide a 3.5 mm audio jack.

Specs & Software

If we exclude the most affordable configurations and we consider the most expensive ones, these two tablets have exactly the same hardware department. They are fueled by the MediaTek Helio G99 mobile platform: a midrange chipset built with a 6 nm production process and sporting an octa-core architecture. The chipset is composed of two Cortex A76 cores running at a max frequency of 2.2 GHz, six Cortex A55 cores running at 2 GHz, and a Mali G57 MC2. Alongside the SoC, there are up to 6 GB of RAM and up to 128 GB of native storage, you can furtherly expand with a micro SD slot. There is an important difference in the software department: unlike the Redmi Pad, the Lenovo Tab P11 runs Android 12L, a special version of the green robot optimized for tablets. The Redmi runs Android 12 customized by MIUI 13 like Xiaomi phones released in 2022.

Camera

The Lenovo Tab P11 Gen 2 provides a better camera on the rear side, with a 13 MP resolution and an f/2.4 focal aperture. The sensor is paired with a LED flash and is able to record 1080p videos. The Redmi Pad has an inferior 8 MP rear camera and both tablets come with an 8 MP front camera.

Battery

Despite having smaller dimensions, the Redmi Pad is equipped with a bigger battery. Thanks to the bigger capacity and the presence of a smaller display, it lasts more on a single charge.

Price

The most powerful hardware belongs to the Xiaomi Pad 5. It is fueled by the Snapdragon 860 mobile platform by Qualcomm built with a 7 nm production process and sporting an octa-core architecture. The chipset is composed of a Kryo 485 Gold CPU running at a maximum frequency of 2.96 GHz, three Kryo 485 Gold CPUs with a 2.42 GHz frequency, four Kryo 485 Silver cores running at 1.78 GHz, and an Adreno 640 GPU. It is a high-end chipset paired with 6 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of native storage (UFS 3.1). The Redmi Pad is powered by a MediaTek Helio G99 chipset running at 2.2 GHz and supported by up to 6 GB of RAM and up to 128 GB of native storage (UFS 2.2). The Xiaomi is more powerful, but it runs Android 11 out of the box, while the Redmi Pad ships with Android 12.

Camera

Another important advantage of the Xiaomi Pad 5 is the presence of a better main camera. On the rear side, this tablet sports a 13 MP shooter: nothing compared to the phones, but a pretty good sensor for tablets, able to record videos with a 4K resolution. The Redmi Pad has an 8 MP rear camera.

If you read the other comparisons published on Gizmochina in the last days, you probably know that I do not like the design of the Redmi Pad very much because it has a big camera module. The Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 10.5 offers a better solution: it has a rear camera placed directly on the back cover, so the look is more minimalistic. However, I appreciate the Redmi Pad because it has an aluminum frame, while the Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 has a full plastic design. So it is inferior when it comes to the build quality. Both tablets come with a high screen to body ratio, with the display covering 80 percent of the front panel. Unfortunately, they do not have a fingerprint scanner or other advanced authentication methods, but they just come with physical keys for volume and the power key.

Display

One of the most important advantages of the Redmi Pad is the presence of a bigger display. It is a screen with a diagonal of more than 10.6 inches able to show up to one billion colors with a Full HD+ resolution of 1200 x 2000 pixels, a 90 Hz refresh rate, and a typical brightness of 400 nits. Besides coming with great color accuracy, it provides a viewing experience smoother than average thanks to the 90 Hz refresh rate. It has an IPS panel, more than sufficient for everyone in terms of image quality. The display of the Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 is decent but nothing special. We are talking about a TFT LCD panel with a diagonal of 10.5 inches and a Full HD+ resolution of 1200 x 1920 pixels. The TFT technology is actually inferior to IPS, so it does not stand a chance against the Redmi Pad. Both tablets feature four stereo speakers, so the audio department is good, and with the Samsung, you even get a 3.5 mm audio jack.

Specs & Software

The most advanced hardware setup belongs to the Redmi Pad. It is powered by the Helio G99 chipset by MediaTek, currently the best 4G mobile platform released by this chipmaker in 2022. It is a processor built with a 6 nm production process sporting an octa-core architecture composed of two Cortex A76 CPUs running at a max frequency of 2.2 GHz, six Cortex A55 CPUs running at 2 GHz, and a Mali G57 MC2 GPU. Alongside the chipset, there are up to 6 GB of RAM and up to 128 GB of native storage expandable with a micro SD. The Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 has an inferior Unisoc Tiger T618 chipset with a max frequency of 2 GHz, paired with up to 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage in the most expensive configuration. The Redmi Pad runs Android 12 out of the box, while the Samsung is still based on Android 11. There is no challenge.

Camera

The rear cameras of the Redmi Pad and the Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 provide more or less the same quality, but the Xiaomi one features a superior front camera with an 8 MP resolution instead of just 5 MP.

Battery

Even when it comes to the battery, the Redmi Pad wins again. It has a bigger battery and a longer battery life, as well as a faster charging tech.

Price

However, just within a few weeks, the situation has now changed drastically. Lenovo has recently released a new tablet for around the same price with a better feature set.

Officially called the Lenovo Xiaoxin Pad Plus 2023, the product is essentially a Redmi Pad killer. Let us explain why we feel this way.

Larger Display With Stylus Support

The Lenovo Xiaoxin Pad Plus 2023 not only has a larger display but also a faster refresh rate. The panel measures 11.5-inch diagonally and can refresh up to 120Hz. For comparison, the Redmi Pad comes with a 10.61-inch display with a 90Hz refresh rate.

Additionally, the screen on the Lenovo tablet support stylus input. It has 4096 levels of pressure sensitivity.

Otherwise, the display has the same WUXGA+ (2000 x 1200 pixels) resolution and 400 nits peak brightness as the one on the Redmi tablet.

Multiple First-Party Accessories

Since the Xiaoxin Pad Plus 2023’s display support stylus input, users can opt for the new Xiaoxin Stylus Smart Edition. While the Redmi Pad does not offer this functionality.

Further, the Lenovo tablet sports a magnetic pogo pin connector for the official keyboard accessory, which also has a kickstand. No such thing on the Redmi tablet.

Lenovo also sells a first-party screen protector and a flip cover, which Redmi don’t.

Better Software

The Xiaoxin Pad Plus 2023 boots Lenovo’s Android 12L-based ZUI 14 skin designed for tablets. Since the company has been selling tablets with this software for quite a while, it has made several improvements to offer a better experience.

Unfortunately, Lenovo tablets use close-to-stock Android outside mainland China. So this point may become invalid if and when Xiaoxin Pad Plus 2023 releases in global markets under the Lenovo Tab P series.

3.5mm Headphone Jack and More

Most smartphones don’t come with a 3.5mm headphone jack anymore. This trend is slowly catching up with budget tablets as well.

Thankfully, Xiaoxin Pad Plus 2023 features the beloved jack, unlike the Redmi Pad. The former also arrives with a higher 13MP rear camera compared to an 8MP shooter on the latter.

Finally, the Lenovo tablet also offers WiFi 6 and 20W fast charging support as opposed to WiFi 5 and 18W fast charging support on Redmi.

The body is water repellent and the bezels around the display are very narrow. I also like the presence of a rear camera placed directly in the rear cover, without a dedicated camera module. The Redmi Pad is built with a plastic back and an aluminum frame, it comes with narrow bezels around the display just like the Motorola, but it has a big and pretty ugly camera module on the rear side. On the other hand, it is a thinner tablet, even though it packs a bigger battery, and you should appreciate this, given that the dimensions of these devices are more or less the same. Do you prefer having a thinner tablet or a beautiful one?

One of the most important advantages of the Redmi Pad over the other affordable tablets is definitely the display. It is an IPS LCD panel, so you should not expect those vivid colors and those deep blacks you can usually find on OLED panels. But it is still a great display: we are talking about a panel with a 10.61-inch diagonal that is able to show up to one billion colors with a Full HD+ resolution of 1200 x 2000 pixels, a 90 Hz refresh rate (allowing for a smoother viewing experience), and a typical brightness of 400 nits. It is one of the best displays in the affordable segment and it is paired with four stereo speakers providing advanced audio quality. the Motorola Moto Tab G62 has an IPS LCD display with a diagonal of 10.6 inches and a Full HD+ resolution of 1200 x 2000 pixels, as well as four stereo speakers.

If you choose the Redmi Pad, you can actually achieve a longer battery life because this tablet has a bigger battery, with a capacity of 8000 mAh (instead of just 7700 mAh found on the Motorola Moto Tab G62). On the other hand, the Motorola charges quicker thanks to 20W fast charging.

Earlier this month, Redmi launched the Redmi Pad in multiple markets including India and Europe. Now, at the Redmi Note 12 series launch event in China, the device has also reached the domestic market. For those unaware, the Redmi Pad is an entry-level Android tablet with an attractive spec sheet that includes a high-resolution display, a decent chipset, and a large battery.

The Redmi Pad features a slim, boxy design with flat edges. It has a large 10.6-inch IPS LCD panel that can display over 1 billion colors. This display has a 2K resolution of 2000 x 1200 pixels, and a 90Hz refresh rate. The peak brightness offered by the slate is 400 nits and it also boasts SGS eye protection and TUV Rheinland certification. The Widevine L1 certification of the tablet ensures users can get access to higher resolutions on popular OTT platforms like Netflix.

The Redmi Pad is powered by a MediaTek Helio G99 SoC, which is an efficient 6nm chip and packs a decent punch in gaming applications. The slate gets up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, which can be further bumped up by 1TB using a microSD card.

Redmi’s first-ever tablet—Redmi Pad— launched in India earlier this month with impressive specifications and an amazing price. Now, the tablet is making its way to the Philippines. The firm is yet to announce the exact launch date, but we can expect it to arrive soon. Redmi Pad features a 10.6-inch LCD display, MediaTek’s Helio G99 chipset, a large 8,000mAh, and much more. Here are all the details.

According to Xiaomi Update Philippines (@miupdateph), Redmi is gearing up to launch the Redmi Pad in the Philippines soon (via GSMArena). The tablet will reportedly launch at a starting price of PHP 14,999 for the base 6GB plus 128GB model. However, the company is yet to make any official announcement regarding the launch of the tablet.

To recall, the Redmi Pad’s price in India starts at Rs. 12,999 for the base 3GB + 64GB variant, while the 4GB + 64GB version is available at Rs. 14,999. Display

Do you need one of the best displays in the affordable segment? If so, then you should go for the Redmi Pad. The tablet has multiple competitors in the country. But only three of them can be considered a good alternative.

However, before going through the competition, let’s check out what the Redmi Pad has to offer.

The Redmi Pad sports a metal unibody design. It flaunts a 10.61-inch 10-bit display (LCD) with a resolution of 2000 x 1200 pixels (WUXGA+) and up to a 90Hz refresh rate. The screen comes with 220 PPI and 400 nits peak brightness level.

Like most tablets, this one is also TÜV Rheinland-certified for low blue light emission. Additionally, it is the world’s first tablet to be certified by SGS for low visual fatigue.

The Best Redmi Pad Alternatives in India

Oppo Pad Air

Software is one of the key highlights of the Redmi Pad. This is the case with Oppo Pad Air as well. It boots ColorOS for Pad, an optimized version of ColorOS for tablets. Unlike the Redmi Pad, the Oppo Pad Air can also be used with phones and Windows PC for productivity via PC Connect.

Further, it has a capable chip in the form of Qualcomm Snapdragon 680. However, the battery is smaller and so is the display. But there’s support for a stylus, which is sold separately.

Motorola Moto Tab G62

For some reason, if you want a near-stock Android on a tablet and good hardware in the budget segment, then the Motorola Moto Tab G62 is probably the best option.

Just like the Oppo Pad Air, it is also powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 SoC. However, it sports an almost same-sized display as the Redmi Pad and even comes in a cellular (LTE) variant.

Moreover, its battery is only slightly smaller at 7,700mAh and there’s support for faster 20W wired charging.

The WiFi-only variant of the Moto Tab G62 is priced at ₹15,999, whereas the WiFi + LTE version costs ₹17,999. Both models arrive with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage.

Samsung Galaxy Tab A8

The Galaxy Tab A8 also ships with customized software for tablets. In fact, Samsung’s tablet software can be considered the best on Android.

However, the device houses a slower Unisoc T618 chipset. Also, it is backed by a smaller battery (7,040mAh) than the other two alternatives as well as the Redmi Pad, in addition to having the slowest charging speed (15W).

The Redmi Pad will go on an exclusive early bird sale for its flagship Mint Green variant starting tomorrow (5th October 2022) at 10 am on Mi.com. On the other hand, all the other variants will go on sale on October 5 as well, with its sale beginning at 12 pm noon, but this variant will be available through Flipkart, Mi Home, and even select retail stores as well.

Redmi Pad is set to launch in India as well as in the global markets on October 4th. It will be the first-ever tablet from the Xiaomi sub-brand. Now ahead of the launch next, the device has been spotted in an unboxing video uploaded by a Spanish YouTuber Eufracio López 502. It reveals the Redmi Pad in all its glory including the design as well full specifications. 

Right off the bat, the Redmi Pad has a quad-speaker setup with two grilles located at the top and the other two located at the bottom edge of the device. The sound will be tuned by Dolby Atmos. The top edge also has a power button whereas the volume rocker and microSD card slot are located on the right edge of the device. There is a front 8MP camera sensor on the right bezel of the device when it is held in portrait mode. The back panel sports a rectangular camera module housing an 8MP sensor and there is no LED flash unit. 

The retail box shown in the unboxing video reveals that the Redmi Pad will feature a 10.6-inch LCD display bearing a resolution of 2,000 x 1,200 pixels and featuring a 90Hz refresh rate. The screen is surrounded by symmetrical bezels on all four sides. 

On the hardware front, the unboxing video reveals that the Redmi Pad will be equipped with a MediaTek Helio G99 processor under the hood. The device will pack 4GB RAM and 128GB onboard storage. The retail box also mentions that the upcoming tablet will be backed by an 8,000mAh battery unit with support for 18W fast charging, however, Xiaomi will bundle a 22.5W charger in the box.

Redmi Pad is confirmed to launch in India. The Xiaomi sub-brand has announced that it will launch its first-ever tablet on October 4th at 12 noon. Xiaomi is also conducting a global launch event on October 4th where it is expected to unveil the Xiaomi 12T series, Redmi Pad, and Redmi Buds 4 Pro. The India launch of the Redmi Pad is earlier than its global counterpart.

Prior to the launch event next week, we already know the key specifications of the Redmi Pad thanks to various leaks and rumours. The device is expected to sport a 10.6-inch display bearing a resolution of 2,000 x 1,200 pixels. It will feature a 90Hz refresh rate, 10-bit colour, and 400 nits brightness. The screen is surrounded by symmetrical bezels on all four sides and there is a rectangular camera module on the back panel. Dimension-wise, the tablet is said to measure 7mm thick and weighs 445 grams. 

The Redmi Pad is tipped to feature 8MP rear as well as an 8MP front camera. On the audio front, it will be equipped with quad speakers tuned by Dolby Audio. 

Under the hood, the Redmi Pad is rumoured to be powered by MediaTek’s Helio G99 processor. It will come with up to 4GB RAM and 128GB onboard storage. The tablet will reportedly be backed by an 8,000mAh battery unit with support for 18W fast charging. It will run on MIUI Pad 13 based on Android 12 out of the box.

Xiaomi is expected to release the first tablet under the Redmi brand very soon. This product will likely go official at the company’s October 4 launch event. 

Ahead of that, the tablet has leaked multiple times revealing almost everything about it. Today, it has been spotted on Bluetooth SIG as well.

The upcoming Redmi Pad with model number 22081283G (Global variant) has been certified by Bluetooth SIG. As per the listing, the tablet will come with Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity.

Most importantly, the listing discloses that the product will boot MIUI 13+. This is the first time we are hearing about such software.

For the unaware, the entire Xiaomi Pad 5 lineup runs MIUI Pad. The version is currently MIUI 13 based on Android 12.

On the other hand, Xiaomi offers a feature called MIUI+ in China, which is similar to Oppo’s PC Connect. Hence, we are not sure what MIUI 13+ means for the Redmi Pad.

According to leaks, the Redmi Pad will come with a 10.61-inch WUXGA+ (2000 x 1200 pixels) display (LCD) offering up to a 90Hz refresh rate, 400 nits peak brightness, 1500:1 contrast ratio, and 10-bit color depth. It will be powered by a MediaTek Helio G99 chipset paired with LPDDR4x RAM and UFS 2.2 storage.

The device will sport an 8MP rear camera with autofocus and another 8MP front-facing camera with a 105° FOV (field of view). Despite measuring 7mm in thickness, the tablet will house Dolby Atmos-certified quad speakers and an 8,000mAh battery with support for 22.5W fast wired charging.

The product will weigh 445g and will be available in three colors, such as Graphite Gray, Moonlight Silver, and Mint Green. It is expected to start at around €250 in Europe.

The Redmi Pad will arrive with a 10.61-inch LCD panel that produces a resolution of 2000 x 1200 pixels and a refresh rate of 90Hz. The screen supports up to 400 nits of brightness, a contrast ratio of 1500:1, and 10-bit colors.

Under the hood, the Redmi Pad will be equipped with the Helio G99 chipset. The SoC will be paired with 3 GB / 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB / 128 GB of UFS 2.2 storage. It will house an 8,000mAh battery with 22.5W fast charging support.

The Redmi Pad will feature an 8-megapixel rear camera with autofocus support. On the front, it has an 8-megapixel camera with a 105-degree FOV. It will be equipped with the FocusFrame feature, which offers a wider field of view to accommodate more people in a single frame.

The tablet will offer other features such as Android 12 OS with MIUI’s tablet version and Dolby Atmos certified quad speakers. It will have a thickness of 7 mm and weigh around 445 grams.

The report further states that the Redmi Pad will be priced at around 250 euros. It will be available in three colors: Graphite Gray, Moonlight Silver, and Mint Green. There is no word on whether the company has plans to release a 5G version of the tablet.

The news arrives from known tipster Mukul Sharma who shared the information on Twitter. As per @stufflistings, the Chinese tech giant plans on launching the new tablet sometime early next month. Apparently, the upcoming Redmi Pad will be officially released in India around the first week of October 2022. He also added that this model is a budget level tablet but did not share any other details regarding the device.

Based on what we know so far, the Chinese smartphone maker is planning on launching the Redmi Pad with an 11 inch LCD panel that has a 2K resolution. Under the hood, the device is equipped with a new MediaTek chip that has a MT8781 model number, which should offer performance similar to the Helio G99 SoC. The new tablet is powered by large 7,800mAh battery pack that supports 22.5W fast charging support.

This model is also expected to launch in two storage configurations, namely a 3GB RAM + 64GB storage and 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variants. Xiaomi is expected to announce the Xiaomi 12T series of flagship phones soon in the global market. Reports have claimed that it will debut in October. Speculations are rife that the first-ever Redmi tablet, named Redmi Pad, will also debut alongside the 12T series. Tipster Kacper Skrzypek has shared some screenshots taken from the Instagram handles of Xiaomi Kuwait and Xiaomi Iraq. He also shared a commercial image of the tablet, which seemingly appeared on Xiaomi Iraq’s Instagram handle. These findings suggest that the Redmi Pad may debut in the next few days.

The Instagram posts are no longer available on the above-mentioned handles. The screenshots show that the Redmi Pad is available for purchase. However, it is unclear where the tablet is being sold. The tablet is priced at around $232.5 in Kuwait and around $225 in Iraq.

But ahead of that, tipster Abhishek Yadav has revealed the Xiaomi 12T and 12T Pro could launch globally next week alongside the Redmi Pad and Redmi Buds 4 Pro.

According to a recent report, Xiaomi 12T will come in 8GB RAM + 128GB storage and 8GB RAM + 256GB storage variants. Whereas the Pro model is said to debut in 8GB RAM + 256GB storage and 12GB RAM + 256GB storage options. The handsets could come in three colorways—Clear Blue, Cosmic Black, and Lunar Silver.

The Xiaomi 12T Pro is expected to launch with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC and sport a 6.67-inch AMOLED display that offers a 1,220 x 2,712 pixel resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. It is also expected to flaunt a Samsung HP1 200-megapixel primary sensor that is paired with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens and a 2-megapixel macro unit.

The lower-end Xiaomi 12T is expected to come with a 6.7-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ support. It may be powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 8100 SoC. It is also said to feature a triple rear camera setup headlined by a 108-megapixel primary sensor.

The Redmi Pad is expected to be a mid-range tablet from Redmi. A recently leaked image revealed the device will have a flat back with an 8-megapixel camera without a flash. Rumors suggest it will come with an 11-inch 2K display and will be powered by a new MediaTek MT8781 chip, and a 7,800mAh battery with support for 22.5W fast charging.

The Redmi Buds Pro debuted in China back in May. They come with a 10mm dynamic driver and offer 35dB of noise cancellation with AI intelligent adjustment. It also features HiFi sound quality and virtual stereo sound. The Redmi Buds 4 Pro features 59ms low latency mode and comes with support for Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity.

Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi is gearing up to launch its first-ever tablet, which is tentatively called the Redmi Pad. Reports have claimed that it will be launched soon in China. However, a new report by Pricebaba reveals that it will also be released in the global markets. It has revealed the variants and pricing of the Redmi Pad’s global edition.

According to the publication, the Redmi Pad will arrive in Europe in two options: 3 GB RAM + 64 GB storage and 4 GB RAM + 128 GB storage. Both models are said to be priced between 250 euros and 350 euros. It will come in the sole Grey color only. The report also claims that the Redmi Pad will be made available in 4G and 5G variants.

Shown above is a leaked render of the alleged Redmi Pad that surfaced earlier this month. The image suggests that it could be equipped with a metallic body. A power button and a volume rocker can be seen along its edges. It is believed that the Xiaomi device with the 22081281AC model number, which was certified by the 3C authority in China last month, could be the Redmi Pad.

Redmi Pad specifications

Reports have claimed that the Redmi Pad could be equipped with a new MediaTek MT8781 chipsetv, which is said to be similar to the Helio G99 SoC. It is likely to pack a 7,800mAh battery with 22.5W fast charging support.

The Redmi Pad is said to be equipped with an 11.2-inch LCD screen that offers a 2K resolution. It is expected to come preinstalled with the Android 12 OS and MIUI Pad 13. The back panel of the device seemingly features an 8-megapixel camera without an LED flash.

Last year in September, Xiaomi unveiled the Xiaomi 11T series of smartphones. Hence, it appears that the 12T lineup may debut later this month in the global market. Ahead of the expected launch, tipster Abhishek Yadav has shared a leaked image of the Xiaomi 12T Pro. The same image also gives a good look at the alleged Redmi Pad, which will be Redmi’s first-ever tablet.

Xiaomi 12T Pro

In the leaked image, the Xiaomi 12T Pro can be seen sporting a 200-megapixel triple camera unit. Rumors are rife that the main snapper will be coupled with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 2-megapixel macro camera. The back panel of the phone has curved edges. A volume controller and a power button can be seen on the right side of the 12T Pro.

Reports have revealed that the Xiaomi 12T Pro will be a modified version of the Redmi K50 Ultra, which was announced in China last month. Hence, the 12T Pro is likely to feature a 6.67-inch OLED display on the front with a centrally positioned punch-hole. It should be able to handle a resolution of 1.5K (1220 x 2712 pixels) and a refresh rate of 120Hz.

The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 will power the Xiaomi 12T Pro. It may ship with 12 GB of LPDDDR5 RAM and 256 GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The device may lack features like a microSD card slot and a 3.5mm audio jack. It will run on Android 12 OS with MIUI 13 on top. The 12T Pro may pack a 5,000mAh battery with 120W fast charging.

Redmi Pad

The Redmi Pad is said to be a mid-range offering from the brand. The device has a flat back with an 8-megapixel camera without a flash. A power button is placed on the top of the device, whereas its left side has a volume rocker. Rumors are rife that it has an 11-inch 2K display, Android 12 OS, a new MediaTek MT8781 chip, and a 7,800mAh battery with 22.5W fast charging.

In June, a Xiaomi tablet with model number 22081281AC was certified by the 3C authority of China. Earlier this month, the tablet went official in the home market with the Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro 12.4 moniker. A new Xiaomi tablet has appeared in the database of the 3C certification platform. Speculations are rife that it could be the first Redmi branded tablet.

The alleged Redmi Pad with an MT8781 model number has received 3C certification. It is a 4G LTE device that is likely to come equipped with a 22.5W charger. According to tipster WHYLAB, the device will be equipped with a 7,800mAh battery.

A recent leak claimed that the Redmi Pad would be equipped with a new MediaTek MT87871 chipset. The SoC is similar to the existing Helio G99 chip. Hence, the first Redmi tablet could be a budget-friendly offering from the brand.

Speculations are rife that the Redmi Pad will be equipped with an 11-inch display that will carry support for 2K resolution. Unfortunately, there is no information available on the other specs of the device. Now that the device has passed 3C certification and has been found being tested in Asian and European countries, it seems that it will not take too long for it to go official.

In related news, Redmi seems to be gearing up to launch a couple of new smartphones in India. It recently unveiled the Redmi Note 11 SE and is now gearing up to launch the Redmi 11 Prime 5G on Sept. 6 in the country. The Xiaomi sub-brand is also expected to launch an entry-level phone called the Redmi A1 in the coming days.

Redmi is reportedly working on its first tablet. While the official name of the device is yet to be confirmed, it is tentatively called the Redmi Pad by the rumor mill. According to a report by Miuipolska, the Redmi Pad will be equipped with a new MediaTek chipset with the MT8781 model number. Unfortunately, there is no information on the marketing name of the SoC.

According to the report, the new chipset that will power the Redmi Pad will be based on TSMC’s 6nm manufacturing process.It will be similar to the Helio G99, which powers the likes of the Infinix Note 12 Pro and Vivo V25e. The G99 will also be seen on the upcoming POCO M5.

The new MediaTek SoC will comprise 2 x Cortex-A76 CPU cores working at 2.2GHz, 6 x Cortex-A55 CPU cores ticking at 2GHz, and Mali-G57 MC2. These specs are also available on the Helio G99. The new chip will include support for LPDDR4x RAM and eMMC 5.1 and UFS 2.2 storage, claims the report.

The MT8781 chip will support a 108-megapixel maximum resolution camera and a 32-megapixel (or a pair of 16-megapixel) front camera. It will offer 2K video encoding / decoding at 30fps and support the H.264, H.265, and VP9 codecs. The display of the device featuring the MT8781 chip will support a maximum resolution of 1200 x 2000 pixels and a 90Hz refresh rate. It will also offer other features like Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.2, and LTE. However, it will lack 5G connectivity.

Coming to the Redmi Pad, it is unlikely to connect to any mobile network as there is no IMEI number mentioned in its FCC documents. Unfortunately, the key specification of the tablet is yet to be confirmed. It appears that it will not take too long for the Redmi Pad to go official as its serial production has started in Asia and European countries.

Xiaomi has been rumored to be working on a new tablet which it plans to release via its sub-brand Redmi. The name “Redmi Pad 5G” has been given to the product because it featured in a MIUI 13 survey.

Now, popular tipster Mukul Sharma has revealed that the serial production of “a new Redmi tablet” has begun in multiple European and Eurasian countries. This is likely the long-awaited Redmi Pad 5G.

So far, information on the tablet is scarce, however, we do have a leaked live shot from last month which showcases the rear design of the tablet.

The tablet was also spotted on CMIIT certification a couple of months ago which revealed that the slate will have support for 5G and Wi-Fi 802.11ac connectivity. Other than that, a 3C listing of the same device with a 22081281AC model number confirmed 67W fast charging support.

Other reports have mentioned that the tablet could come with a MediaTek chipset paired with MIUI Lite software, which is made for low-end devices. There is a possibility that there could be a Pro variant in the future, which may feature a powerful chipset.

For now, this is the extent of information available on the upcoming Redmi Pad 5G. However, as the device has reached the serial production stage, we are sure to receive more information on it in the coming days. So, stay tuned.
