Multiple teasers from Lu Weibing, Redmi’s general manager already revealed a lot about the device. According to the recent conversation by Lu Weibing on Weibo, it appears Redmi may drop on-screen fingerprint sensor from the device. It is obvious that the company will shed some features to make it budget friendly.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-250825" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/redmi-sd855.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="600" height="129" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/redmi-sd855.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/redmi-sd855-300x65.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></p>
<p>Lu Weibing dubiously replied that the on-screen fingerprint sensor is very expensive when asked about the presence of a rear fingerprint sensor on the upcoming flagship device by a user on Weibo. He kind-of affirmed the absence of on-screen fingerprint sensor on the new device.</p>
<p>The on-screen fingerprint sensors are the norm for every flagship device. Many Chinese smartphone makers like Oppo, Vivo, Huawei and even OnePlus facilitated the users with an on-screen fingerprint. However, it has started appearing on some affordable devices too.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/02/06/oppo-k1-with-in-display-fingerprint-sensor-launched-in-india-for-rs-16990-223/"> Oppo K1</a> recently launched as the most budget-friendly device sporting the in-screen fingerprint sensor in India.</p>
<p>Recent reports suggest <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/redmi-sd855/">Redmi SD855</a> will carry a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/04/10/redmi-snapdragon-855-phone-is-in-works-but-without-pop-up-selfie-camera/">pop-up camera</a> module embracing a 32-megapixel sensor. On the rear side, there will be a triple camera module equipped with 48-megapixel primary camera + 8-megapixel + 13-megapixel. Moreover, there will be a<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/04/15/redmi-sd855-flagship-phone-will-have-3-5mm-audio-jack/"> 3.5 mm audio jack</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/04/22/redmi-sd855-phone-will-support-nfc-confirms-lu-webing/">NFC</a> for safe, secure and quick payment transfers.</p>

<p>The cheapest Snapdragon 855 device is likely to <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/03/25/we-wont-see-a-snapdragon-855-powered-redmi-flagship-anytime-soon/">launch anytime soon</a>. Some reports cite that the same phone will launch as <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-redmi-pro-2/">Redmi Pro 2</a> or Poco F2. We expect some more information to surface before its actual launch. Although, the company started preparing <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/04/29/redmi-snapdragon-855-flagships-abundant-stocks-being-prepared/">abundant stocks</a> of the phone to meet the demand.</p>

Lu Weibing, Xiaomi&#8217;s general manager is continuously teasing the new device via Weibo. After revealing new details like the pop-up camera in the new Redmi flagship, today he reveals some information about its availability.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-250471" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/redmi-sd-855.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="600" height="335" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/redmi-sd-855.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/redmi-sd-855-300x168.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></p>
<p>While answering a question about the Redmi&#8217;s upcoming flagship device&#8217;s availability, Lu Weibing responds that the company is preparing enough stock of the device. As like of <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-redmi-note-7-pro/">Redmi Note 7 Pro</a> spot sale in China, we expect a similar activity for Redmi flagship device. It appears the Redmi preparations this time will fade away the availability issues.</p>
<p>The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/redmi">Redmi</a> flagship device will come with<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/12/05/qualcomm-snapdragon-855-announced/"> Qualcomm Snapdragon 855</a> chipset. It would be the world&#8217;s cheapest device powering the Snapdragon 855 chipset. It will compete against Xiaomi Mi 9, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/lenovo-z6-pro/">Lenovo Z6 Pro</a>, Lenovo Z5 Pro GT 855, Samsung Galaxy S10 series,<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/sony-xperia-1/"> Sony Xperia 1</a> and other high-end devices.</p>
<p>The new mysterious phone will <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/04/22/redmi-sd855-phone-will-support-nfc-confirms-lu-webing/">debut with NFC</a> facilitating easy payments. A 3.5 mm audio jack and a triple camera module consisting of a 48-megapixel primary sensor + 8-megapixel + 13-megapixel camera sensors will be present on the device.</p>
<p>Unlike the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/samsung-galaxy-s10/">Galaxy S10</a> series, there won&#8217;t be any punch hole camera, instead, it will come with a pop-up camera module housing a 32-megapixel sensor. There will be a full view display with improved screen-to-body ratio and slim bezels on the front side. The &#8216;<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/04/24/redmi-snapdragon-855-730-phone-with-notch-less-display-spotted-with-lu-weibing/">worth waiting</a>&#8216; device is expected to launch in <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/04/16/redmi-snapdragon-855-flagship-phone-release-date-hinted-by-lu-weibing/">May or June</a> at an affordable price.</p>

<p>Moreover, a recent leak also pulled the wraps-off from a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/04/16/mysterious-redmi-snapdragon-730-phone-with-pop-up-selfie-camera-and-triple-cameras-could-be-coming/">Snapdragon 730 powered Redmi smartphone</a>. It is also in the pipeline and will feature a similar pop-up selfie camera, 3.5 mm audio jack, notch-less display and much more.</p>

<p>Last month, Xiaomi CEO <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/03/31/alleged-redmi-855-flagship-phone-spotted-in-same-frame-with-xiaomi-ceo-lei-jun/">Lei Jun was seen</a> with the alleged Redmi SD855 smartphone. However, at that time the design was not very clear, but thanks to confirmations later which verified the device&#8217;s existence. Lu Weibing has already confirmed few features of the device like the existence of <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/04/15/redmi-sd855-flagship-phone-will-have-3-5mm-audio-jack/">3.5 mm audio jack</a>, triple camera module among others.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-248955" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/remdi-sd-855.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="613" height="202" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/remdi-sd-855.jpg 613w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/remdi-sd-855-300x99.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 613px) 100vw, 613px" /></p>
<p>A recently leaked video revealed its triple sensor camera setup with a fingerprint scanner on the rear side. Whereas, the front side is expected to carry a full view display featuring slim bezels, impressive screen-to-body ratio, and a punch hole camera. Unlike the <a href="//www.gizmochina.com/tag/samsung-galaxy-s10/">Galaxy S10</a> series, the punch hole camera appeared on the top-center position.</p>
<p>The Chinese firm is frequently teasing the <a href="//www.gizmochina.com/tag/redmi-sd855/">Redmi SD855</a>, but the identity and main specifications of the device are still under wraps. Some rumours claim the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/04/16/redmi-snapdragon-855-flagship-phone-release-date-hinted-by-lu-weibing/">new phone may go official</a> by the end of this month.</p>
<p>We expect some more details to surface from Xiaomi side before actual launch happens later.</p>
