Redmi is confirmed to compete in the flagship segment in the coming weeks. We know that the phone will be powered by the Snapdragon 855 SoC and will be priced quite competitively. In fact, Redmi general manager, Lu Weibing has revealed that the brand will take on smartphone makers who slap excessive price tags on their flagships. Now, thanks to an alleged protective film from the upcoming phone, we have an idea of what it could be called.

Alleged Redmi SD855 smartphone protective film

Redmi’s first Snapdragon 855 smartphone could end up being called as the Redmi K20 Pro. This information comes with a protective film that’s usually on the screen of a brand new smartphone. The film also features most of the important specifications of the device. So, Redmi’s Snapdragon 855 flagship, most likely called as the K20 Pro will come with a 48MP triple camera setup at the back and a pop-up 20MP AI front camera.

The film further reveals that the AMOLED screen will be of 6.39-inches and will feature the new generation version of screen fingerprint. Finally, the battery is said to be of 4000mAh with 27W fast charging support.

We have to add that this leak comes from an unconfirmed source, so take this with a pinch of salt. However, there might be some truth to it. Lu Weibing revealed a couple of days back that the phone won’t be called as the Redmi X. So we could scrap off that name from the potential list. But we know that the phone would be placed in a new series since it’s the first such flagship from the recently separated brand. So, ‘K’ series could very well be the flagship lineup from Redmi. However, these are all speculations for now.

According to recent leaks, the Snapdragon 855 powered Redmi flagship will come with a 3.5mm headphone jack, NFC, and an ultra-wide camera lens. The triple camera setup is said to feature a 48 MP primary sensor with 13 MP and 8 MP sensors.

The posters revealed that the smartphone is called Redmi X and it will be debuting on May 14. Last night, Redmi General Manager Lu Weibing confirmed through Weibo that it won’t be called Redmi X. Hence, it appears that the posters that were swirling on Weibo could be fake.

As it can be seen below, Weibing said, “not called Redmi X, there will be a better name.” While the company has been teasing the Redmi SD855 phone since the past few months, it appears that it may not launch so soon. Some rumors claim that the upcoming Redmi phone with notch-less display and pop-up selfie camera could be fueled by Snapdragon 730. It could be arriving as a lighter version of the Redmi SD855 phone that may debut later.

It is also expected to arrive with some other features like AMOLED display, in-screen fingerprint reader and 3.5mm audio jack. The other details of the phone are currently under the wraps.

Rumors are rife that the Redmi SD730 phone will face competition from Realme X that will be sporting a notch-less screen and elevating camera. It is rumored to feature an in-screen fingerprint reader, VOOC 3.0 flash charging, triple rear cameras and Snapdragon 730 SoC. It is expected to release in options like 6 GB RAM + 64 GB storage, 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage and 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage. These models could be respectively priced at 1,599 Yuan (~$237), 1,799 Yuan (~$267) and 1,999 Yuan (~$299).

Recently, the Chinese firm had released a video teaser of its upcoming flagship phone. It was revealed at the end of the teaser video that the phone will be arriving with a notch-less display and a pop-up selfie snapper. Fresh rumors that are doing rounds on Weibo suggests that the forthcoming Redmi flagship phone will be releasing in the market with Redmi X moniker. Also, a leaked poster of the phone has also appeared on Weibo.

The first image shows the Redmi X being advertised at some place in China. The black colored handset shown of the left side in the image does not seem to be the Redmi flagship phone because of the “Mi” text on its rear. It is the Xiaomi Mi 9 smartphone that features a vertical triple camera unit. The image does suggest that the rear design of the Redmi X Snapdragon 855 phone will be quite similar to the Xiaomi Mi 9 phone.

The Redmi X phone shown in the poster has a notch-less display and a pop-up selfie camera. The positioning of the elevating camera seems to be a bit weird since the official teaser of the phone had revealed that it is placed more towards the left on the top edge of the device. Hence, it appears to be a photoshopped image.

Redmi is yet to confirm the Redmi X moniker for its upcoming Snapdragon 855 SoC powered flagship phone. In January, a listing for the Redmi X phone was found on China’s Jindong Mall online shopping site. Since then, the rumor mill is speculating that one of the upcoming Redmi phones may carry the Redmi X name.

Another leaked poster (shown below) has appeared on Weibo. The text on the poster reads that the company will be announcing the Redmi X “national flagship” phone on May 14 through an unveil event in Beijing, China.

Since then, the rumor mill is speculating that one of the upcoming Redmi phones may carry the Redmi X name. Redmi is yet to confirm the Redmi X moniker for its upcoming Snapdragon 855 SoC powered flagship phone. Hence, there is no official confirmation on the launch date of the phone.

The Redmi X is expected to feature a notch-less displayor 6.3-inches. It is expected to be equipped with an in-display fingerprint reader. The smartphone may come with up to 8 GB of RAM and a maximum inbuilt storage of 128 GB. A 4,000mAh battery may fuel the phone. It may carry support rapid charging technology. When it comes to photography, the smartphone may offer users with a frontal shooter of 32-megapixel and a rear-mounted 48-megapixel + 8-megapixel + 13-megapixel triple camera module.

Earlier this month, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun had confirmed that there will be a Redmi branded Snapdragon 855 powered flagship phone this year. Today, Redmi President Lu Weibing also confirmed through a Weibo post that Redmi will be launching a Snapdragon 855 driven phone later this year.

Lu Weibing’s recent Weibo post has two shots of him with the Redmi team at the Shenzhen-based R&D Institute. The team had met to discuss on the future brand positioning, marketing strategy, user needs and flagship product configurations of the Redmi brand. Weibing mentioned in the Weibo post that the company has high expectations from the Redmi Note 7 Pro and Redmi SD855 flagship phone.

There are no details available on the Redmi Snapdragon 855 powered smartphones. Rumors have it that it could be called the Redmi X smartphone. Xiaomi is expected to launch the Poco F2 smartphone as the successor for the Poco F1 this year. The Poco F1 had launched as the cheapest Snapdragon 845 chipset. There is a possibility that the Poco F2 could be the cheapest Snapdragon 855 smartphone. Probably, the Poco F2 may end up as the Redmi flagship phone. However, it is too early to speculate it.

The Redmi Note 7 Pro will be launching after the Spring Festival of China later this month. It is already confirmed that it will be featuring the 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 sensor instead of the 48-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL GM1 sensor present on the Redmi Note 7.

The Redmi Note 7 is the first smartphone to go official after the Redmi brand was established as a separated brand. In the coming month, the Chinese manufacturer will be announcing the Redmi Note 7 Pro smartphone. A leaked poster of the Redmi X smartphone has surfaced on Weibo. The poster only reveals two things about the smartphone. First, it will come equipped with an in-display fingerprint scanner and the second is that it will be announced on Feb. 15.

The Chinese text below the large-sized Redmi X translates to “national screen fingerprint scanner mobile phone.” There is no information available on the specifications of the smartphone. Redmi is reportedly working on a Snapdragon 855 mobile platform powered smartphone.

Could it be the Redmi X phone? There is no direct evidence to prove it. Since the leaked poster only highlights the in-screen fingerprint scanner feature than the performance prowess of the Redmi X, it does not seem to be a SD855 powered flagship phone. However, it could be a better phone than the Redmi Note 7 or Note 7 Pro that feature rear-mounted fingerprint scanners. The Snapdragon 660 chipset powers the Note 7 whereas the Note 7 Pro could be fueled by Snapdragon 710 chipset. Probably, the Snapdragon 710 could be the chipset that will power the Redmi X phone.

Redmi is yet to confirm on the existence of Redmi X phone. Hence, it is recommended to wait for newer reports to confirm whether such a really exists. Also, Redmi is yet to confirm a launch date for the Redmi Note 7 Pro. The smartphone will come equipped with 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 sensor instead of the 48-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL GM1 sensor found on the Note 7.

Redmi series have always featured mid-range smartphones. However, the upcoming Redmi phone could be an upper mid-range phone with 48-megapixel rear camera. Even though Redmi has been teasing the smartphone since the beginning of this year, it is yet to reveal the name of the device. There is a possibility that it could be called Redmi Note 7 since the device with the same name was recently spotted on Geekbench. Last year, Xiaomi didn’t release the Redmi Note 6 handset is China which suggests that the company might have skipped it since it was just an incremental update over the Redmi Note 5 Pro. Probably, upcoming Redmi Note series may include high-end phones staring with Redmi Note 7 whereas forthcoming non-Note Redmi phones may comprise of budget-friendly phones. There are some contradictory reports that claim that the Redmi phone launching on Thursday could be Redmi Pro 2 or Redmi X or Redmi 7 Pro.

Hopefully, leaks surfacing ahead of tomorrow’s launch may confirm more details on the mysterious Redmi phone. Hence, it is also being speculated that the Chinese firm may launch the Redmi 7 Pro tomorrow.

Redmi is now gearing up to launch its first smartphone. To grab the attention of the new brand, it will be releasing first phone with 48-megapixel camera. The Chinese brand has released a new Weibo post which confirms that the handset is codenamed as “Little King Kong” and the embedded video reveals that it will be arriving with a highly durable glass body.

All the Redmi phones that have launched so far have featured metallic chassis. However, the official video shown below reveals that it would be arriving with a glass rear. In the video, Xiaomi employees can be seen stamping on the phone. It successfully passes the torture test without any damage.

https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/XmndLdbKePlwvPZgoKG7IzFYm304MuKsSZ2jvg___8.mp4

The video reveals that the smartphone is equipped with a waterdrop notch display. The back panel of the phone has a dual camera setup and a fingerprint. It seems to be the very same phone that has recently received approval from TENAA certification authority in China. Speaking of design, a leaked poster of the smartphone is now doing rounds on Weibo. The image has revealed the front and rear design of the phone.

The smartphone can be sporting a teardrop notch enabled display. The chin of the device is not visible because of the Chinese text overlaid on it. Apart from Black, the handset will be arriving in two color gradient options of blue-violet and purple-pink. Below the vertical dual camera setup, there is an LED flash and “48MP AI dual camera” text. The 48-megapixel rear camera of the phone will offer 4 times pixels than conventional smartphones. Through its TENAA listing it has been revealed that it is equipped with a 6.3-inch full HD+ display and it is packed with a 3,900mAh battery.

Rumors have it may debut as the first Snapdragon 675 mobile platform powered smartphone. Could it be the Redmi Note 7 phone? The Redmi Note 7 has appeared few hours ago on Geekbench with Snapdragon 660 chipset. The SD660 supports up to 25-megapixels camera while the Snapdragon 675 can support 48-megapixel photography. Hence, the phone that has surfaced in the video and Redmi Note 7 could be different handsets. Other rumors have claimed that the 48-megapixel Redmi phone may debut as Redmi Pro 2. The mystery will be revealed on Jan. 10 when it will be officially announced.
