However, a new report on Anandtech has accused chip maker MediaTek for altering gaming performance in benchmarks.

The publication found MediaTek cheating the gaming scores when it benchmarked the Reno3 Pro (European edition) that features the older Helio P95. It claims that the benchmark scores of the Helio P95’s Cortex-A75 processor was higher than the Reno3 5G (Chinese variant) that is equipped with the Dimensity 1000L 5G chipset. The Dimensity chip has four Cortex-A77 CPU cores while the Helio P95 has only two Cortex-A75 cores.

The publication tried running PCMark’s stealth version on the Helio P95 powered Reno3 Pro. Since the stealth version can’t be identified by manufacturers, there was a 30 percent drop in performance compared the high scores that were required by the phone. The outlet stated that it noticed a drop of 75 percent in some other benchmarks.

The Reno3 Pro 5G (Chinese version) that has Snapdragon 765G was also benchmarked by the publication. It did not notice any cheating on benchmarks. Investigating the firmware of Reno 3 Pro (European version) revealed some references to “sports mode” which enables faster performance. The outlet that more investigations revealed that even other MediaTek powered phones like Realme C3, Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro and 2017’s Sony Xperia XA1 also have performance enhancements.

Soon after Anandtech published its findings, MediaTek immediately published a blog post to state that its optimization practices on benchmarks adheres to industry standard and is in line with the practices of other companies. It further stated that such practices only reveal the full capabilities of a chipset. It also mentioned that its key rival has chipsets that function in the same way which Anandtech considered as cheating on benchmarks.

This handset is said to be somewhat different from the Reno3 Pro that went official in December in China. A leaked poster that showcases the banner ad of the Reno3 Pro has been shared by 91mobiles. OPPO India Vice President and Head of India R&D Tasleem Arif has confirmed the company will be soon launching the Reno3 Pro in India.

The OPPO Reno3 Pro that was unveiled in China was powered by Snapdragon 765G that tagged along X52 5G modem. Hence, it was a 5G device. Arif’s tweet reveals that the Reno3 Pro arriving in India will be equipped with 4G specifications. Since the smartphone is expected to arrive with 44-megapixel dual selfie cameras, it could be advertised as “Expert Camera” phone. The executive has revealed that OPPO India has planned to launch new products with 5G version later this year. As far Reno3 Pro is concerned, the handset is likely to go official this month.

It houses two front-facing cameras. The leaked poster reiterates previous reports that it will be arriving with 44-megapixel dual front-facing cameras. It is said that it has a 2-megapixel secondary sensor and a main lens of 44-megapixel. So far, the 32-megapixel lens has been the highest resolution selfie camera on smartphones. However, the Reno3 Pro is expected to soon arrive as the world’s highest resolution selfie camera phone.

The OPPO Reno lineup includes phones with different display designs such as notch-less screen and pop-up selfie camera, waterdrop notch display and punch-hole screen. The forthcoming OPPO phones may sport a new front. 91mobiles has come across a patent filing that showcases a new display design that features the selfie camera lodged in the narrow top bezel.

According to the publication, the Chinese manufacturer had filed a patent in March 2019, and it was published on Jan. 21. The patent design seems to belong to an upcoming Reno series phone as it features an O-Dot structure on the back. OPPO has claimed that the all the upcoming Reno smartphones will be equipped with O-Dot structure that protects the rear surface and cameras.

The main highlight of the phone’s design that can be seen in the new patent filing shows that its display is surrounded by slim bezels. The display sports a notch-less design as it features a selfie camera at the center of the slim top bezel. The design reminds of the recent flagship phones from Meizu that have very slim top bezel along with the selfie camera. However, none of the Meizu phones have featured the selfie snapper in top-center position.

The patent images of the OPPO Reno phone further reveal that the power button is placed on the right spine of the device whereas the left side is populated with volume up and down buttons.
OPPO has recently launched the OPPO Reno 3 and Reno 3 Pro 5G smartphones in China. It remains to be seen whether the above shown design comes true on the OPPO Reno 4. Chinese firms are known for skipping number 4 in the names of their devices. Hence, forthcoming Reno phones could be called Reno 5.

In related news, OPPO is expected to soon launch a different Reno 3 Pro with dual front-facing cameras in India. YouTuber Mrwhosetheboss recently gave a first look at an OPPO phone with dual punch-hole design. It is said to be equipped with 44-megapixel + 2-megapixel dual selfie camera. Its main lens could be the 43.7-megapixel ISOCELL GH1 lens. There is no word on the other specs and arrival time of the Indian version of OPPO Reno 3 Pro.

At that time, the handset was speculated to debut as Reno3. Apparently, the PCPM00 / PCTM00 phone lacks support for 5G connectivity which suggests that it could be a different phone or a 4G only version of the Reno3.

Some reports have claimed that the OPPO PCPM00 phone that was recently approved by TENAA could be the Reno 3 smartphone. However, the TENAA listing states that the PCPM00 phone is not a 5G phone. Probably, there could be a 5G variant of the same phone. There is a possibility that the PCPM00 OPPO phone could be a non-Reno series phone. It is advisable to wait for further reports to confirm on its true identity.

OPPO PCPM00 Specifications

The exact identity of the OPPO PCPM00 is not known. However, considering the fact that it does not carry support for fast charging, it may not belong to OPPO’s Reno series of smartphones. The handset has 160.2 x 73.3 x 7.9mm dimensions and it weighs 172 grams. The device is fitted with a 6.4-inch AMOLED display that produces full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels. It is a 20:9 aspect ratio supporting display that features a waterdrop notch. The AMOLED display is integrated with a fingerprint sensor.

The smartphone is powered by 2.1GHz octa-core processor and 8 GB of RAM. It could be featuring the Helio P70 SoC. The Android 9 Pie OS runs on the device. If the device debuts after the Reno 3 series, it may come preloaded with the latest ColorOS 7 UI. The phone offers an internal storage of 128 GB and has a microSD card slot for additional storage.

The OPPO PCPM00 has a minimum rate battery of 3,935mAh capacity. Unfortunately, the TENAA listing has no mentioning of rapid charging for the device. It has a front-facing camera of 16-megapixel.
The 3C appearance of the PDCM00 / PDCT00 has revealed that the company may ship the phone with a fast charger that supports up to 30W charging. Hence, the mysterious phone is expected to come with VOOC 4.0 Flash Charge technology. The PDCM00 / PDCT00 smartphone is a 5G-ready device.

The Reno 3 Pro 5G is the upcoming 5G phone from the company. Hence, there is a possibility that the PDCM00 / PDCT00 model number may belong to the Reno 3 Pro 5G phone. It has been officially confirmed at the Qualcomm’s ongoing Snapdragon Tech Summit 2019 that the Reno 3 Pro 5G phone will be featuring Snapdragon 765G mobile platform that will bring support for dual-mode 5G connectivity. Recent reports have revealed that the Reno 3 Pro 5G has a curved display with a punch-hole at its top-left corner. Shen has shared only few details on the Reno 3 Pro 5G which will be debuting this month as the company’s first phone with dual-mode 5G. Today, a new OPPO phone that has a model number of PCPM00 has appeared on TENAA. The listing lacks its images but has revealed few details on its specs.

The OPPO PCPM00 is not a 5G smartphone. The device measures 160.2 x 73.3 x 7.9mm. It is slightly thicker than the OPPO Reno 3 Pro 5G that is officially confirmed to arrive with a chassis that has a thickness of 7.7mm.

The Reno 3 Pro 5G is lightweight device even though it features a battery of 4,025mAh capacity whereas the PCPM00 phone that has been spotted has a minimum rated battery of 3,935mAh capacity. Its typical could be 4,025mAh. Lastly, TENAA has revealed the OPPO PCPM00 phone has a 6.4-inch. It remains to be seen whether it will be arriving with a punch-hole screen like the Reno 3 Pro 5G. Hopefully, the TENAA listing of the PCPM00 gets updated soon with its image and entire specifications. The OPPO PCPM00 is yet to appear on the database of 3C.

In related news, new OPPO phones with model numbers CPH2015 and CPH2025 were recently certified by the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC). The listing did not reveal any details on the specs of these phones. However, it is being said that these could be the OPPO Reno 3 and Reno 3 Pro 5G smartphones. Shown above is the render of the rumored Reno 3 Pro 5G that is expected to arrive with a punch-hole display.

Rumors have it that the Reno 3 Pro 5G could be debuting as the first phone powered by Qualcomm’s 5G chipset. The Redmi K30 5G that is debuting on Dec. 10 will also be powered by a 5G chipset from the US based chip maker. The Snapdragon 735 5G that will debut soon is expected to power both devices. Coming back to Reno 3 series, these phones will be the first devices from the company to arrive with ColorOS 7 based Android 10 OS. OPPO is expected to debut the Reno 3 series by mid-December.

However, it did not reveal the entire display. Today, LetsGoDigital has shared a new render of the OPPO Reno 3 Pro 5G phone to showcase its full front view. It reveals that the device features a punch-hole display.

Earlier this week, a leaked screenshot of an upcoming OPPO phone had surface on Weibo. The image had revealed that the said phone may come with a punch-hole display as there was an unused area in the UI at the top-left corner. The aforementioned publication has shared a render of the Reno 3 Pro 5G.

As it can be seen in the render below, it features a punch-hole at the top-left corner of the screen. The side bezels of the phone appear almost non-existent as the screen curve towards the edges. The upper and lower bezels of the phone are also thin. This indicates that the phone will boast a very high screen-to-body ratio. It is speculated that the phone could be housing a 6.5-inch AMOLED display with an in-screen fingerprint reader.

The new leak has no new information on the specifications of the Reno 3 Pro 5G. As OPPO VP Brian She revealed, the device is equipped with a 7.7mm chassis with a glass rear. The device is equipped with a 4.,025mAh battery that will probably arrive with fast charging support. It will be a dual-mode 5G smartphone that could be powered by the Snapdragon 735 5G chipset. As it is known, it will be the first phone to arrive with ColorOS 7 UI preinstalled. Probably, the handset will boot to Android 10 OS.

The display punch-hole could be housing a 32-megapixel selfie snapper. The rear shell of the phone may house a quad camera setup with a 60-megapixel main lens. The device may come with up to 8 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of native storage. Hopefully, the company will also unveil the Reno 3 smartphone alongside the Reno 3 Pro in the coming month.

OPPO VP Brian Shen took to Twitter yesterday to tease the slimness of the Reno 3 Pro 5G smartphone. Today, Shen has revealed the battery size of the phone.

The Reno 3 Pro 5G is a very thin device that measures only 7.7mm in thickness. Despite featuring a slim chassis, the phone will be housing a larger battery of 4,025mAh capacity. It could be coming with support for fast charging technology.

The executive has also tweeted that the Reno 3 Pro 5G is a dual-mode 5G supporting smartphone. The rest of the specifications of the phone are currently under the wraps. The only other official information that is known about the phone is that it features a curved screen and it will be thee first phone to arrive with the all new ColorOS 7 UI.

A recent leak had claimed that the OPPO Reno 3 would be arriving with a punch-hole display. This means that the company will be ditching the notch-less display design of the OPPO Reno 2 that came with a shark-fin shaped pop-up camera system.

Rumors surrounding the phone have claimed that the Reno 3 5G could be the first phone to feature the Snapdragon 735 5G mobile platform that is expected to go official soon. Hopefully, the smartphone will appear on the database of China’s TENAA regulatory body

The launch date of the phone is currently a secret, but the Chinese firm is expected to confirm on it soon. Most of the 5G phones that are available in China are flagship devices. The upcoming phones such as the Reno 3 series, Vivo X30 series, Redmi K30 lineup and Realme X50 powered by mid-range chipsets will allow users in China to avail 5G phones with lower prices.

It will be debuting as the first phone with the company’s all new ColorOS 7 UI. Today, OPPO VP Brian Shen released the first teaser of the Reno 3 Pro 5G smartphone to reveal that it will be arriving with a slightly curved display. Shen has claimed that it may debut as the slimmest dual-mode 5G enabled smartphone in China.

In the below shown image, the display of the Reno 3 Pro 5G can be seen curving towards its edge. Shen has revealed that the thickness of the device is only 7.7mm. The predecessor Reno2 had come with a notch-less display and it featured a shark-fin shaped pop-up camera module that housed a selfie camera and an LED flash. It had a thickness of 9.5mm.

Editor’s Pick: Oppo ColorOS 7 Launched in India with Riding Mode, Localised Features and More

The company has drastically reduced the thickness of the Reno3 Pro 5G to only 7.7mm. This seems to have been achieved by axing the shark-fin shaped pop-up camera system. While the top-left corner of the phone is not shown in the first teaser of the Reno 3 Pro 5G, a leaked screenshot that surfaced yesterday revealed that it could be arriving with a punch-hole display design. The thin-shaped power button can be seen on the right edge of the device. It seems to be featuring a notification LED. The volume rocker could be lodged on the left side of the device. While the entire display is not visible, it could be featuring an in-screen fingerprint reader.

OPPO Reno 3 5G Specifications

Previous reports have revealed that the OPPO Reno 3 5G will come equipped with a 6.5-inch AMOLED display with 1080 x 2400 pixels full HD+ resolution and 20:9 aspect ratio. It may offer 90Hz refresh rate. The Reno 3 5G may debut as the first phone fueled by the Snapdragon 735 5G SoC. It may come with up to 8 GB of RAM and storage editions like 128 GB and 256 GB.

The OPPO Reno 3 5G could be backed by a 4,500mAh battery coupled with VOOC 4.0 Flash Charge technology. The two storage versions of the phone may cost 3,299 Yuan (~$469) and 3,599 Yuan (~$512) in China. There is no information available on the specs of the Reno 3 Pro 5G phone.
