A report by <em>QQ News</em> yesterday, July 17, said <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/oppo">OPPO</a> has received approval from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and China&#8217;s Quality Certification Center.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-260950" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/5G-Alliance.jpg?x44794" alt="5G Alliance" width="690" height="373" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/5G-Alliance.jpg 690w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/5G-Alliance-300x162.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px" /></p>
<p>With the certification, OPPO will be able to launch and sell 5G phones in China. There are reports that it will launch the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/oppo-reno-5g/">Reno 5G</a> in its home country in the 3rd quarter of the year. So we expect it to arrive between now and September.</p>
<p>Just before OPPO received approval, <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/huawei">Huawei</a> got its own first, back in June. The tech giant announced on June 25 that has received a permit for its <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-mate-20-x-5g/">Mate 20 X 5G edition</a>. The phone is set to go on sale later this month and may as well be the first 5G smartphone in China.</p>
<p>The Mate 20X 5G isn&#8217;t the only 5G phone made by Huawei that has got approval. There are said to be three others but are unnamed. <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/vivo">Vivo</a>, <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/oneplus">OnePlus</a> (<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/oneplus-7-pro-5g/">OnePlus 7 Pro 5G</a>), and <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/ZTE">ZTE</a> (<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/zte-axon-10-pro-5g/">Axon 10 Pro 5G</a>) have also received approvals for their devices. Last month, <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/nubia">Nubia</a> and <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/lenovo">Lenovo</a> also <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/06/25/nubia-joins-china-mobiles-5g-industry-alliance-announces-nubia-x-5g-edition/">announced 5G versions of the Nubia X</a> and the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/06/26/lenovo-announces-worlds-first-5g-laptop-and-z6-pro-5g-edition/">Z6 Pro</a> respectively.</p>
<p>On second thought, any of these phones may be the first 5G device to go on sale in China. Nevertheless, folks will have several options to choose from</p>
