Now, we have the official launch date of the smartphone in question.</p>
<p>The company has today confirmed that the Vivo X30 will go official in China on 16th December. The company is expected to launch two devices &#8212; Vivo X30 and Vivo X30 Pro, with support for SA and NSA <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/5g">5G</a> modes.</p>
<p>This will not only be the Chinese device maker&#8217;s first dual-mode 5G smartphone but also the first 5G smartphone in the company&#8217;s X-lineup of devices. It is already confirmed that the phone will come powered by the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/11/11/samsung-exynos-980-specifications-revealed-debuts-in-the-a71-5g/">Samsung Exynos 980</a> SoC.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-293610 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Vivo-X30-Launch-Date.jpg?x10805" alt="Vivo X30 Launch Date" width="1024" height="1792" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Vivo-X30-Launch-Date.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Vivo-X30-Launch-Date-171x300.jpg 171w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Vivo-X30-Launch-Date-768x1344.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Vivo-X30-Launch-Date-585x1024.jpg 585w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Vivo-X30-Launch-Date-696x1218.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Vivo-X30-Launch-Date-240x420.jpg 240w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></p>
<p>Samsung&#8217;s Exynos 980 comes with integrated 5G baseband and is the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/09/04/samsung-exynos-980-announced/">world&#8217;s first integrated chipset with 5G modem</a>. It is using Cortex A77 architecture, which is also touted as the world&#8217;s first.</p>
<p>The company has said that the dual-mode 5G <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/ai">AI</a> chipset has been jointly created by Vivo and Samsung. The Chinese company has reportedly made several optimizations to ensure optimal 5G experience on the Exynos 980.</p>
<p>It has proposed a preferred solution for international roaming, a 5G scene power consumption solution, and a game delay solution to ensure smooth operation in 5G environments for the chipset.</p>
<p>The smartphone features a quad camera setup on the back at top-left corner. The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/11/27/vivo-x30s-new-poster-reveal-quad-camera-system-with-periscope-lens/">quad camera setup</a> includes three cameras placed vertically besides a periscope lens and an LED flash. The Chinese manufacturer has confirmed that the Vivo X30 series will be coming with support for <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/11/26/vivo-x30-is-coming-with-60x-super-zoom/">60x super zoom</a>.</p>

<p>It will feature a punch-hole display with a cut-out positioned at the top-right corner of the screen. The display will come integrated with an in-screen fingerprint reader. It remains to be seen whether the Vivo X30 features the exact same 6.44-inch display that is available on the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/vivo-s5/">Vivo S5</a>.</p>
<p>The Vivo X30 series smartphones are said to be the first phones to come pre-loaded with the all new JoviOS that will replace the usual FunTouch OS user interface from the company. The smartphone is also expected to come with support for 33W fast charging.</p>
<p>Recently, the company also revealed that the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/11/29/vivo-x30-new-images-showcases-its-two-color-variants/">phone will come in two gradient color</a> variants &#8212; Red and Aurora. To know for sure about the upcoming smartphone&#8217;s memory variants, pricing, as well as availability details, we&#8217;ll have a wait for a few more days for the official launch event.</p>

The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/ai">AI</a>-powered Exynos 980 SoC is manufactured using an 8nm process and comes with eight CPU cores &#8212; two Cortex-A77 and six Cortex-A55, coupled with Mali G76 graphics processor.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-273988 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/Exynos-980_2.jpg?x10805" alt="Samsung Exynos 980 SoC" width="3120" height="2457" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/Exynos-980_2.jpg 3120w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/Exynos-980_2-300x236.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/Exynos-980_2-768x605.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/Exynos-980_2-1024x806.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/Exynos-980_2-696x548.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/Exynos-980_2-1068x841.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/Exynos-980_2-533x420.jpg 533w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/Exynos-980_2-1920x1512.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 3120px) 100vw, 3120px" /></p>
<p>The chipset combines a 5G modem and mobile application processor into one chip. This increases power efficiency and takes up less space within smartphones compared to older generation SoCs. The new SoC can support data transfer rates of 2.55Gbps in 5G connectivity for sub-6GHz spectrum and 1.0Gbps for 4G, allowing a rate of 3.55Gbps at dual connectivity, claims <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/samsung">Samsung</a>.</p>
<p>The company says that the neural processing unit (NPU) features elevated performances of up to 2.7 times compared to its predecessor and is built into the Exynos 980 to provide new levels of on-device intelligence.</p>
<div class="su-note" style="border-color:#e5e5e5;border-radius:3px;-moz-border-radius:3px;-webkit-border-radius:3px;"><div class="su-note-inner su-u-clearfix su-u-trim" style="background-color:#ffffff;border-color:#ffffff;color:#333333;border-radius:3px;-moz-border-radius:3px;-webkit-border-radius:3px;"><strong><span style="color: #ff0000;">Editor&#8217;s Pick:</span> </strong><a title="Samsung is quietly working on a foldable phone that folds into a square – Bloomberg" href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/09/03/samsung-is-quietly-working-on-a-foldable-phone-that-folds-into-a-square-bloomberg/" rel="bookmark"><strong>Samsung is quietly working on a foldable phone that folds into a square – Bloomberg</strong></a></div></div>
<p>The NPU also adds enhancements to applications such as secure user authentication, content filtering, mixed reality, intelligent camera, and more. Further, it packs high-performance image signal processor that can process up to 108-megapixel images, and can be synced up to five image sensors and run three of them simultaneously.</p>
<p>Exynos 980&#8217;s multi-format codec (MFC) supports encoding and decoding of 4K UHD video at 120 frames per second (fps) for an immersive multimedia experience. It also comes with HDR10+ support along with dynamic mapping.</p>
<p><iframe loading="lazy" width="696" height="392" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/hsNEjFaYcXk?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe></p>
<p>It seems that this newly announced Exynos 980 SoC is the same <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/08/08/samsung-exynos-9630-5g-chinese-phone/">which was in the news as Exynos 9630</a> with integrated <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/5g">5G</a> support. If that&#8217;s the case, this chipset could also end up powering smartphones from brands other than Samsung. The company says that it has already supplied samples of the new chip to a client and will begin production of the 5G-integrated chip later this year.</p>
