Users of the Samsung Galaxy A10 in India are now getting the latest Android 11 upgrade. The new update offers some great features including One UI 3.1. Samsung is gradually bringing more of its older models under the canopy of Android 11, and India is not left out. It is not clear how long the rollout will take before every Galaxy A10 unit in the subcontinent will have the notification for the update.

The new update has the number A105FDDU6CUH2 and includes the latest August 2021 Android security patch, the upgrade to Android 11, and Samsung’s One UI 3.1 user interface.

As usual, it is expected that the latest Android 11 update for the Galaxy A10 will be scaled up to cover every country. It is also expected that the Android 11 update will also be extended to other Galaxy models yet to be upgraded

The Samsung Galaxy A10 was released in 2019 and has already enjoyed a previous upgrade from Android 9 to Android 10. It is unlikely that there will be any further upgrade of the OS in the device’s lifetime. The Galaxy A10 has also enjoyed an upgrade of its One UI, Samsung’s user interface.

Some of the new features include chat bubbles, auto permission reset, one-time permissions, and a dedicated media player widget. There are also updates to Calendar, Gallery, Messages, Reminders, Samsung Internet. Digital Wellbeing and parental control features have been improved as well. The Galaxy A10 also gets bug fixes, device stability improvements, and better security and privacy with the latest software update.

Samsung re-established its dominance as the global smartphone market leader last year and the Galaxy A series played an important role in its achievement. The company shifted focus from launching only upper mid-range models on the A-series to churning out a rich blend of entry-level, lower mid-range and premium mid-range models on the series. The trend will definitely continue this year as the tech giant has already secured trademarks for the A-series models such as the Galaxy A11, A12, A13 etc.

Talking of the Galaxy A11, the device has been certified by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). The certificate which has been listed on FCC’s website gives us some insight into the hardware in respect of the battery and camera configuration. This is coming just days after the Galaxy A31 and A41 camera and battery specs were leaked.

In this case, the Samsung Galaxy A11 which is expected to be the cheapest A-series model this year features a 4,000mAh battery. This is similar to what is on the Galaxy A10 but with software improvements and a better chipset, we may see better durability. The device is also listed to pack a triple camera setup as against a single sensor on the A10. The A11’s camera configuration wasn’t listed.

The Galaxy A11 which appears with the model number SM-A115F will be powered by the Snapdragon 625/626 chipset, which is more efficient than the A10’s Exynos 7884 as it doesn’t have any high-performance cores. The FCC document also shows the presence of a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. Some of the other specs, which were revealed in previous leaks and rumours, include 2GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, and Android 10 with One UI 2.0 out of the box. The Galaxy A11 will be available in white, red, blue, and black.

There is word yet as to when Samsung will announce the device, but it is expected to go official with this one in March, exactly one year after the Galaxy A10 was unveiled.

Counterpoint Research has just released research data of the top 10 highest-selling phones globally in the third quarter (Q3) 2019. The data encompasses phones sold in all parts of the world and presents with some surprises.

First, Apple’s iPhone XR emerged as the highest-grossing model in the third quarter of 2019 even though Apple’s overall sales declined during the period.  Samsung and OPPO dominated the ranking with three top-selling models apiece. The Galaxy A10 is ranked as the second top-selling model while the Galaxy A50 came in as third. The OPPO A9 is ranked at the fourth spot while the iPhone 11 completes the top 5.

Other models in the list include the OPPO A5s at the sixth position, Galaxy A50 at number seven, OPPO A5 at the eighth position. Xiaomi’s budget Redmi 7A came in at the ninth position and finally, the Huawei P30 completes the top 10. The P30 may be a surprise inclusion considering the US sanctions but the model is very popular in China.

In recent years, pricing of the premium flagship offerings from the likes of Apple and Samsung have been climbing up and have crossed the $1,000 mark. Along with the premium offering, Apple had launched the iPhone XR last year, keeping the company’s earlier price point of around $750.

Now, according to the report from the market analysts, the shipments of the Apple iPhone XR crossed the 30 million units mark making it the best-selling smartphone in the first half of this year.

While the iPhone XR certainy isn’t cheap being priced at $749, however, it’s the least expensive offering compared to the other iPhones launched last year — iPhone XS and XS Max. According to the IHS Market, 13.6 million iPhone XR units shipped in the first quarter and 13.3 million shipped in the second quarter — bringing the total to 26.9 million for the first half of the year.

The second best-selling smartphone for the H1 2019 is the Samsung Galaxy A10, which shipped almost half of the units compared to the iPhone XR. Commenting on this, Jusy Hong, Research and Analysis Director said:

“Compared to the Android-based smartphone makers, Apple maintains a relatively small model lineup. This means that Apple’s total sales volume is divided among fewer models. As a result, each of Apple’s iPhone models tends to generate higher shipment numbers than comparable Android smartphones, such as those sold by Samsung.”

The Samsung Galaxy A50, Apple iPhone 8, and Xiaomi Redmi 6A are ranked third, fourth, and fifth bestselling smartphone respectively. Other devices in the list include Redmi Note 7, Galaxy J2 Core, Oppo A5, iPhone XS Max, and the Galaxy A30.

Samsung is vigorously marketing the Galaxy A-series models in different markets, apparently in a bid to reclaim its dominance of the midrange segment. The Galaxy A10, Galax A20 and Galaxy A30, three of its budget/mid-range models have now got price cuts in India.

The new price cut sees the price of the Galaxy A10 plummet from INR8,490 ($122) to INR7,990 ($115). The A20’s price also drops to INR11,490 ($165) from INR12,490 ($180), and the A30 to INR15,490 ($223) from INR16,990 ($245). The three models are presently available at these new prices on Samsung India’s online store.

Samsung announced the Galaxy A30 and A10 alongside the A50 in India in February, just days after the flagship Galaxy S10 series was unveiled. The Galaxy A20 surfaced in March. Both the Galaxy A20 and A10 are powered by Exynos 7884 SoC but the A10 comes with 2GB RAM whereas the A20 ships with 3GB RAM. On the other hand, the Galaxy A30 packs an Exynos 7904 SoC under the hood, paired with just 4GB RAM. There is a 3GB RAM variant, though, but that one isn’t available in India, at least not yet.

The phone was first launched across the border in India on February 28 and recently went on offline and online sales over there. It hits Pakistan priced at PKR21,500 ($153) which is slightly higher than the price in India. The A10 has a price tag of Rs.8,490 ($123) in India.

The Galaxy A10 was launched alongside the Galaxy A30 and Galaxy A50 in India but it is making a solo run in Pakistan. The A10 comes with entry-level specs crammed inside a beautifully designed shell. The device features a 6.2-inch Infinity-V LCD display with HD+ resolution of 720 x 1520 pixels. The phone is powered by an Exynos 7884 SoC, paired with 2 GB of RAM while there is inbuilt storage of 32 GB. The device also packs a modest 3,400mAh battery under the hood.

At the back, there is a 13-megapixel sensor with f/1.9 aperture but there is no fingerprint sensor. The A10 offers its users with f/2.0 aperture 5-megapixel selfie shooter. It is available in black, Blue and Red colour variants.
