Now is the turn for the Galaxy M40 in India. The Galaxy A21s is also getting the One UI 3.1 update in the country.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-258502 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/Galaxy-M40-featured.png?x10805" alt="Galaxy M40 featured" width="720" height="420" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/Galaxy-M40-featured.png 720w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/Galaxy-M40-featured-300x175.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/Galaxy-M40-featured-696x406.png 696w" sizes="(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px" /></p>
<p>An OTA update is rolling out to the users of <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-m40/">Galaxy M40</a>(SM-M405F) in India. The update with firmware version <strong>M405FDDU2CUC6</strong> brings the One UI (Core) 3.1 based on Android 11 to the device.</p>
<p>If you recall, the Galaxy M40 <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/06/11/samsungs-galaxy-m40-is-a-300-snapdragon-675-powered-phone-with-a-punch-hole-display/">launched in India</a> with Android 9 Pie out of the box. It later got the Android 10 update last year. The Android 11 marks the second major Android upgrade for the device.</p>
<p>Similar to the Galaxy M40, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-a21s/">Galaxy A21s</a> (SM-A217F) also seems to be getting the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/one-ui-3.1">One UI 3.1</a> update in India with the CUD4 firmware version. The update seems to pack in March 2021 security patch. This device <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/06/17/samsung-galaxy-a21s-debuts-in-india-for-rs-16499-216/">launched</a> in India last year with Android 10 OS out of the box.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-375115 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Samsung-Galaxy-A21s-Featured.jpeg?x10805" alt="Samsung Galaxy A21s Featured" width="1440" height="810" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Samsung-Galaxy-A21s-Featured.jpeg 1440w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Samsung-Galaxy-A21s-Featured-300x169.jpeg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Samsung-Galaxy-A21s-Featured-768x432.jpeg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Samsung-Galaxy-A21s-Featured-1024x576.jpeg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Samsung-Galaxy-A21s-Featured-696x392.jpeg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Samsung-Galaxy-A21s-Featured-1068x601.jpeg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Samsung-Galaxy-A21s-Featured-747x420.jpeg 747w" sizes="(max-width: 1440px) 100vw, 1440px" /></p>
<p>The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/one-ui-3.1">One UI 3.1</a> has revamped UI, Private Share, GPS location data removal on Images, more Lock screen widgets, Background Video Calling, improved stock apps, and more, over the One UI 3.0. It&#8217;s worth noting that the Galaxy A21s has already received the Android 11 update in South Korea.</p>
<p>Anyway, we can expect <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/android-11">Android 11</a> features like one-time permissions, app permissions auto reset, chat bubbles, conversations section in the notification area on both devices. You can <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/09/09/android-11-stable-update-arrives-with-chat-bubbles-screen-recording-and-more/">read over extensive coverage</a> to know more about the same.</p>
<p>Additionally, the Galaxy M40 and Galaxy A21s are currently in Samsung&#8217;s list of devices that will get security <a href="https://security.samsungmobile.com/workScope.smsb">updates</a> every Quarter. We can expect this to continue at least for another year.</p>
<p>If you are someone living in India and own either of these devices, you can try out the update by navigating to <i>Settings &gt; Software update &gt; Download and install.</i></p>

Later, the device went on to be one of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/02/25/most-shipped-smartphones-2020-omdia/">most shipped smartphones</a> for the entire year as well. Today, Counterpoint Research has come up with a report for the global Top 10 best-selling models for January 2021, and <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple">Apple</a> dominates the list yet again with iPhone 12 at the top.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-155362 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/smartphones-2.jpg?x10805" alt="smartphones" width="2048" height="1229" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/smartphones-2.jpg 2048w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/smartphones-2-300x180.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/smartphones-2-768x461.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/smartphones-2-1024x614.jpg 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 2048px) 100vw, 2048px" /></p>
<p>As per the <a href="https://www.counterpointresearch.com/top-10-best-selling-smartphone-models-jan/">report</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/apple-iphone-12/">Apple iPhone 12</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/apple-iphone-12-pro">iPhone 12 Pro</a>, and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/apple-iphone-12-pro-max/">iPhone 12 Pro Max</a> accounted for 71% of Apple&#8217;s entire sales for the month and occupied the first three positions in the Top 10 list. As <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/01/21/apple-shifts-production-iphone-12-mini-to-iphone-12-pro/">reported earlier</a>, the demand was high for the 5G Apple devices due to a late launch in 2020.</p>
<p>The yesteryear <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/iphone-11">iPhone 11</a> is still at the fourth spot and this isn&#8217;t that surprising considering the device is still a value for money for Apple lovers. Also, the report says that 1/3rd of Apple&#8217;s total sales comes from the US.</p>
<figure id="attachment_383121" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-383121" style="width: 1014px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-383121 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/top-10-best-selling-january-2021.jpg?x10805" alt="" width="1014" height="640" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/top-10-best-selling-january-2021.jpg 1014w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/top-10-best-selling-january-2021-300x189.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/top-10-best-selling-january-2021-768x485.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/top-10-best-selling-january-2021-696x439.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/top-10-best-selling-january-2021-665x420.jpg 665w" sizes="(max-width: 1014px) 100vw, 1014px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-383121" class="wp-caption-text">credit: Counterpoint Research</figcaption></figure>
<p>Apple also has two more devices on the list and one of them is the iPhone 12 mini, yes you heard it right. Reports said that Apple could <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/02/08/apple-discontinue-iphone-12-mini-report/">discontinue the mini version by Q2</a> but look like it has garnered some sales in January. The other iPhone model is the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/apple-iphone-se-2020">iPhone SE 2020</a>.</p>
<p>The Top-10 list is once again shared only by <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/samsung">Samsung</a> and Xiaomi apart from Apple. We have <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-redmi-9a/">Redmi 9A</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-redmi-9/">Redmi 9</a> in the fifth and sixth spots. The report says that the sub $150 phones accounted for 25% of Xiaomi&#8217;s total sales for January.</p>
<p>Talking about Samsung, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-a21s/">Galaxy A21s</a> and the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-a31/">Galaxy A31</a>, which recently <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/04/07/samsung-galaxy-a31-fourth-price-cut-drop-india/">got price cuts</a> in India, occupy the seventh and ninth spot respectively. Lastly, the report says that Xiaomi is growing gradually in the MEA region while Samsung is looking to attract more HONOR with its Galaxy A devices.</p>
<p>That being said, with more 5G mid-range devices launching in the coming months, we can expect them to dominate the Top 10 list this year.</p>

The latest one launched in <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/10/08/check-out-the-realme-7i-official-unboxing-video/">Europe</a> is the <a href="http://gizmochina.com/product/realme-7i">Realme 7i</a> bringing all the power of a midrange MediaTek chipset to the low-end segment. But is it the most powerful and versatile handset under €200? There is no better way to understand it than comparing it with the most recent lower-midrange phones from other brands. The most suitable devices for this specs comparison are the <a href="http://gizmochina.com/product/oneplus-nord-n100">OnePlus Nord N100</a>: the first low-end phone released by OnePlus, and the <a href="http://gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-a21s">Samsung Galaxy A21s</a>.</p>

<h2>Design</h2>
<p>Realme 7i, OnePlus Nord N100 and Samsung Galaxy A21s sport a very similar design. All come with a punch-hole display, a rectangle-shaped camera module, a plastic unibody design, and a rear-mounted fingerprint reader. There are only marginal differences and what really changes are the color variants. Given that it is thinner and lighter, my favorite one is the OnePlus Nord N100. But the Samsung Galaxy A21s is slightly more compact, so it is a great option too. The Realme 7i has more interesting color variants thanks to its reflective back, and its display is protected by Gorilla Glass 3.</p>
<h2>Display</h2>
<p>If you expect a great display, you should not go for any of these phones. In each case, you get a below-average LCD panel with an HD+ resolution (720p). We are not saying these panels are bad, but you can find a lot of better displays in the market. Samsung Galaxy A21s is the most disappointing as the OnePlus Nord N100 and Realme 7i come with a 90 Hz refresh rate, while the Galaxy A21s has just 60 Hz. The display of the OnePlus Nord N100 is slightly wider compared to the Realme 7i.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h2>Hardware/Software</h2>
<p>The best chipset is the one found on the Samsung Galaxy A21s. It is very powerful for a so affordable phone, and it is very efficient because it is built with an 8 nm production process. The Realme 7i offers great performance as well thanks to its Helio G85 and, in its most expensive configuration, it offers a higher amount of RAM compared to the Samsung Galaxy A21s (8 GB vs 6 GB). Further, the Realme 7i has UFS 2.1 internal storage, while Samsung Galaxy A21s is based on eMMC storage. My choice would actually be the Realme 7i despite the SoC of the Samsung Galaxy A21s is more efficient. All of these devices run Android 10, but we know OnePlus Nord N100 will only get one year of major updates.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h2>Camera</h2>
<p>The Realme 7i&#8217;s camera department varies depending on the market: in Asia, you get an amazing 64 MP rear camera, while in Europe, it has a 48 MP main camera. In both cases, we are talking about the best rear camera department of this trio. Even the front camera is actually better. The second place goes to the Samsung Galaxy A21s packing a 48 MP quad-camera and a 13 MP selfie camera, while OnePlus Nord N100 is disappointing with its 13 MP rear camera.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h2>Battery</h2>
<p>Realme 7i is the battery champion as it packs a bigger 6000 mAh battery. Samsung Galaxy A21s and OnePlus Nord N100 remain amazing battery phones, but they have just 5000 mAh.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h2>Price</h2>
<p>OnePlus Nord N100 is priced at €200/$245, Realme 7i costs €170/$208, and Samsung Galaxy A21s is priced less than €200. The winner of the comparison is the Realme 7i due to its great hardware department, very nice cameras, and a bigger battery.</p>

<p>The mid-range Galaxy A51 5G was <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/05/20/samsung-galaxy-a51-5g-goes-official-in-china-priced-at-%c2%a52999-423/">first launched in China</a> mid-May with its major highlight being the 5G connectivity which it brings.  The phone is billed to go on sale this month&#8217;s end via Samsung’s online store and partner retailers across France. It will be available in black, pink, and white.</p>
<p>The Galaxy A21s, on the other hand, is expected to be listed on the firm&#8217;s e-tail stores soon. For now, it is just the product support page that has gone live. Whenever it does go on sale, it will be available in black, blue, and white. Both smartphones will ship alongside a two-month subscription to YouTube Premium for free.</p>
<p>As a reminder of the specifications, both the Galaxy A51 5G and A21s share a similar 6.5-inch display but the premium Galaxy A51 5G features a higher resolution and a Super AMOLED panel instead of a PLS TFT. It’s also 5G-enabled, while the Galaxy A21s is limited to LTE connectivity.</p>

<p>In the same vein, both models pack a Quad camera setup as well as a 48MP wide-angle main camera but that is just about it. The other sensors and the selfie camera onboard the two models are different. For clarity, the other sensors on the A51 5G include a 123-degree 12-megapixel ultrawide sensor, a 5-megapixel depth sensor and a 5-megapixel macro lens. On the other hand, the Galaxy A21s sports 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens with f/2.2 aperture, a 2-megapixel depth sensor with f/2.4 aperture and a 2-megapixel macro lens with f/2.4 aperture. The selfie camera is a 13-megapixel sensor while the A51 5G utilises a 32MP selfie sensor.</p>
<p>while the Galaxy A21s is powered by an Exynos 850 SoC, the Galaxy A51 5G conceals an Exynos 980 chipset under the hood. All these differences combined should lead to a price gap of around $350-$400, at least judging by Samsung’s launch prices in other markets.</p>
