It has already rolled out the updates to several tablets, flagship, and mid-range devices. Now, the Galaxy A60, which launched in China back in April 2019, is getting the Android 11 update.

The Samsung Galaxy A60 is getting a new update with firmware version A6060ZCU3CUD3. This brings the Android 11 and March 2021 security patch to the device.

If you recall, the Samsung Galaxy A60 launched with Android 9 Pie OS out of the box. This makes it the second major Android upgrade for the device. We aren’t sure if it would get another major Andriod upgrade but we can expect Quarterly security patches for another two years.

Coming back, as the Sammobile report says, we aren’t sure if the underlying UI is One UI 3.0 or 3.1. The update hasn’t yet reflected on the Samsung official updates page too. That said, the Android 11 update will bring features as auto permissions reset, chat bubbles, conversations section in the notifications area, one-time permissions, and more.

Since the device is moving up from older One UI on Android 10 to the latest version, expect few UI changes like improving stock apps, more dynamic lock screen and AOD widgets, improvements to Digital Wellbeing, and more.

If you are someone living in China and holding a Galaxy A60, you can navigate to Settings > Software update > Download and install and try out the new update.

Just last week, Samsung announced the Galaxy A60 and A40s in China. Pre-orders for the models have now gone live on Samsung China’s official website. The Galaxy A60 pre-order will end on May 10 while the A40s’ will end on May 5 when sales will commence. As a recap, the Galaxy A60 packs a 6.7-inch FHD+ LCD display with a punch hole housing a 32MP selfie camera. The punch-hole design gifts the A60 a screen-to-body ratio of 92%. The punch hole as a diameter of 4.8mm and so is smaller than those of the Honor View 20 and Galaxy A8s. The phone also ditches the design of a traditional speaker at the top for sound-on-display technology just like the Galaxy A80.

On the camera end, Samsung Galaxy A60 has triple rear cameras – a 32MP primary camera, an 8MP super wide-angle camera, and a 5MP depth sensor. It is powered by the Snapdragon 675 processor and has 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The phone gets its juice from a generous 3,500mAh battery. One outstanding feature is the presence of NFC. The device equally packs a fingerprint scanner. The A60 is priced at ¥1999 ($299).

On the other hand, the Galaxy A40s is basically a rebranded Galaxy M30 which was launched in India not too long ago. The device packs a 6.4-inch FHD+ Infinity U display. The notch houses a 16MP selfie camera. The phone is powered by the 14nm Exynos 7904 processor and it is paired with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. The A40s comes with triple rear cameras – a 13MP primary camera, a 5MP super wide-angle camera, and a 5MP depth sensor. The phone also packs a huge 5000mAh battery with 15W fast charging and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. As for the pricing, the Galaxy A40s has a price tag of ¥1499 (~$224). You’ll agree the prices of the phones are spot on, putting them in positions to wrestle some of the market shares from competitors.

With its amazing performance and its incredibly affordable price, it may cannibalize the sales of the other best-selling devices in the Asian market, such as the Redmi Note 7 Pro. Alongside these two devices, even Samsung is trying to conquer the midrange segment with a new device: the recently unveiled Samsung Galaxy A60. Which of these devices will have the biggest success and which is worth buying currently? We can give you an idea about it in this in-depth specs comparison.

Design

Are you searching for the most innovative, futuristic and optimized design? Then go for the Samsung Galaxy A60 as it is definitely the most attractive thanks to its punch-hole display. With an in-display camera, it does not need a notch in order to minimize the bezels around the display, and it comes with a very high screen-to-body ratio. But if you are seeking for the best build quality, then choose the Redmi Note 7 Pro as it is water resistant and it is equipped with a strong Gorilla Glass 5 display. Even the Realme 3 Pro has a Gorilla Glass 5 display, but it is not as impressive as its rivals because it is not water resistant, it has a classic polycarbonate design and it does not sport a punch-hole display.

Display

Talking about the displays, Samsung is always the master when it comes to smartphones panels. But not in this case. Unlike most of the other mid-rangers by the company, the Samsung Galaxy A60 has a classic IPS panel instead of a Super AMOLED display. So you will not notice a big difference between the Samsung Galaxy A60, the Realme 3 Pro and the Redmi Note 7 Pro. All of them sport an average LCD panel with a Full HD+ resolution, so it is essentially a draw.

Specs & Software

Realme 3 Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 710 chipset, while Redmi Note 7 Pro and Samsung Galaxy A60 are equipped with a Snapdragon 675. Are you wondering which SoC is better? It essentially depends on your needs. The Snapdragon 710 comes with a better GPU, so it has higher graphics performance. It is better for gaming and all those activities which require a strong GPU. But in CPU performances and daily use, the Snapdragon 675 is slightly more convincing, despite it belongs to a lower-end series. Realme 3 Pro, Redmi Note 7 Pro and Samsung Galaxy A60 all come with 6 GB of RAM and up to 128 GB of expandable internal storage, and they are all based on Android 9 Pie.

Camera

Realme 3 Pro borrows the primary sensor of its dual rear camera from the OnePlus 6T, so it is definitely an amazing camera phone for its price range. But Samsung Galaxy A60 is even more interesting with its bright 32 MP f/1.7 main sensor and a triple camera including an ultrawide lens. So that is what would I go for: the Samsung Galaxy A60 due to its brighter focal aperture and its ultrawide sensor. But do not underestimate Redmi Note 7 Pro which still comes with an awesome 48 MP dual camera.

Battery

The software optimization will decide everything here, as the Realme 3 Pro and the Redmi Note 7 Pro come with similar battery capacity, as well as a similar hardware department. Unfortunately, we did not test Realme 3 Pro’s battery life, so we can not give a definitive opinion. Given that Samsung Galaxy A60 has a smaller battery, we believe it will lose this comparison.

Price

Realme 3 Pro starts from just €180/$200 (4/64 GB), Redmi Note 7 Pro costs €200/$225 in its base variant and Samsung Galaxy A60 costs €270/$305 (but in the 6/128 GB configuration). At the end of the day, I would go for the Samsung Galaxy A60 for its punch-hole display and ultrawide camera.

There are so many new devices that it is impossible to remember all their specifications and it is even hard to understand which one is better than each other. That is why there are a lot of confused people about the latest Galaxy devices, and that is why we decided to clear their ideas. We did it by comparing three mid-rangers that belong to a similar price range: the one that goes from €250 to €350, for all the advanced users who want to save money and people who want well-balanced specs at a modest price. We are talking about the newly-announced Samsung Galaxy A60, the Samsung Galaxy M30, and the Samsung Galaxy A50.

Design

Samsung Galaxy A60 is the first Samsung phone from the A series to come with a punch-hole display announced in 2019. And only for its punch-hole display, it looks more futuristic and attractive than its opponents in this comparison. Thanks to the in-display camera, its bezels are very narrow and there is no need for a notch. Further, this display makes the handset more compact than phones with similar display size. At the second place, there is the Samsung Galaxy A50 coming with a clean backside thanks to its in-display fingerprint reader. But it has a classic waterdrop notch, so nothing special on the front, even though its bezels are very minimal.

Display

Despite its punch-hole camera, we exclude the Samsung Galaxy A60 from this comparison as it has a classic midrange-class IPS panel. Not bad, but it will never be at the same level as the wonderful Super AMOLED display of the Samsung Galaxy A50, which also includes an in-display fingerprint scanner as mentioned above. It comes with deeper blacks, brilliant colors and also a slightly larger diagonal than Galaxy A60. Right after there is the Galaxy M30 which comes with a 6.4-inch AMOLED panel as well, so it is almost as nice as the Galaxy A50.

Specs & Software

Samsung Galaxy A60 is the handset that is mostly focused on the performances and the reason is simple: it is powered by a more powerful SoC. We are talking about the Snapdragon 675 which represent one of the most impressive midrange chipsets by Qualcomm. If we exclude the Snapdragon 800 series composed of flagship-class processors, only the Snapdragon 710, 712 and 730 can be considered at the same level of better than the Snapdragon 675. If we exclude the Samsung Galaxy A60, the best is definitely the Samsung Galaxy A50 with its Exynos 9610 chipset, while the Galaxy M30 is the less impressive one since it has a lower-end Exynos 7904 chipset and it is still based on Android Oreo.

Camera

Besides having the best performances, Samsung Galaxy A60 is also equipped with the best cameras, both on the front and on the rear side. On the backside, you can find a triple camera setup with a bright f/1.7 aperture, a 32 MP main sensor, an ultrawide lens and a depth sensor. You get a similar setup on the other phones, but with lower resolutions and less bright focal apertures. The second place goes to the Samsung Galaxy A50 which is still above-average in terms of photo quality.

Battery

Finally, a department for which the Samsung Galaxy M30 can be considered better: the battery life. Thanks to its huge 5000 mAh battery, it can go beyond two days of battery life, and it even has a fast charging technology. Right after, we got the Galaxy A50 with a 4000 mAh unit.

Price

Samsung Galaxy A60 carries a starting price tag of €270/$303, Samsung Galaxy M30 costs about €250/$281 and Samsung Galaxy A50 starts from €350/$393. Despite its higher price, better display and the in-display fingerprint reader of the Galaxy A50, I consider the Galaxy A60 a better device due to its more powerful chipset and its higher camera potentialities.

The latest one and also one of the most impressive ones is the Samsung Galaxy A60, which may become one of the most wanted devices in the upper midrange segment. But it has a lot of rivals in its price range. Among them, there are the new Nokia X71 and the Huawei P30 Lite, which have a high chance of cannibalizing each other’s sales. Through this specs comparison, you may be able to discover which one fits your needs

Design

A lot of people think that punch-hole displays are the future, as they do not need the hated notch, neither a complex slider mechanism to minimize the bezels around the display without getting rid of the front camera. And both Samsung Galaxy A60 and Nokia X71 come with impressive punch-hole displays. They are almost full borderless thanks to this solution, without needing a notch or a slider. Huawei P30 Lite has a classic waterdrop notch, so it is nothing so special. I mostly like the Samsung Galaxy A60 because of both its punch-hole front camera and its elegant gradient colors on the back, as well as a more compact design than Nokia X71.

Display

In each case you get a classic IPS LCD display, so do not expect big changes between the image quality. There will surely be minor differences in brightness, contrast, viewing angles etc, but probably they will not be very noticeable. There is just a slight difference even in the form factors and the dimensions of these displays. As said above, Samsung Galaxy A60 and Nokia X71 come with punch-hole displays as well as a similar diagonal. Huawei P30 Lite has a way smaller panel and a waterdrop notch, but it is also a more compact device, easier to use with one hand and to keep in a pocket.

Specs & Software

There is no challenge here, the Samsung Galaxy A60 is the winner. The Samsung’s midrange takes the performance award thanks to its powerful Snapdragon 675 chipset, that is more or less at the same level as the Snapdragon 710 (slightly better CPU, but inferior GPU). Nokia X71 and Huawei P30 Lite are not so different when it comes to the hardware side, but I personally prefer the Nokia X71 for its better GPU and Android One installed. However, we are not talking about relevant performance improvements in any case, especially because all of these devices come in the same memory configuration: 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage.

Camera

Here it will be a hard fight, and we can not give you a definitive opinion until we test the camera department of the Samsung Galaxy A60. Indeed, on the paper, the Galaxy A60 seems impressive with its 32 MP main sensor on the back, but the Nokia X71 may still be better with its even more impressive 48 MP camera, Carl Zeiss optics and the capability to record 4K videos. On the other hand, both Samsung Galaxy A60 and Huawei P30 Lite seem to sport a better front camera with a high 32 MP resolution. So, judging from the specs on the paper, Nokia X71 looks like the one which could offer more, with the Samsung Galaxy A60 right behind it.

Battery

Samsung Galaxy A60 and Nokia X71 come with the biggest battery thanks to a capacity of 3500 mAh. We still do not know which one will last more on a single charge, but given that Nokia X71 has the bloatware-free Android One, it might have longer battery life. However, we will be able to give a definitive verdict only after testing the software optimization.

Price

While Nokia X71 and Huawei P30 Lite debuted with a €290 price tag, Samsung Galaxy A60 costs €270. At the end of the day, the price does not make the difference, but on the paper, the better processor and the well-balanced specs of the Samsung Galaxy A60 do, at least in my opinion. However, some may prefer the faster and more constant updates of the Nokia X71, as well as its amazing rear cameras. Which one would you pick?
