This report comes from Galaxyclub.nl, a known website from the Netherlands. According to the report, the Android 8.0 Oreo update on Samsung Galaxy A8 and A8 Plus (2018) carries the build numbers A530FXXU2BRDX and A520FXXU2ARD1, respectively. Sadly there are no official declarations about the update and reports did not suggest an exact roll out date. The update is expected to come in July or August.

Even though Samsung Galaxy A8 and A8+ (2018) were released with Android Nougat out of the box, Oreo update seems to be coming soon. In case you don’t know, the firmware will be customized with Samsung Experience 9.0 which will bring several new features and graphics improvements.

These versions are focused on software and security, so they are excellent for business. The existence of an Enterprise Edition of these devices was already \ teased in a promotional video surfaced before the launch of the Galaxy S9, and now it is confirmed.

Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy A8 Enterprise Edition come with three-year licenses for Knox Configure (Dynamic Edition) and the Enterprise Firmware OTA service. Samsung has guaranteed a total of four years of security updates for these devices. To be accurate, there will be three years of monthly security updates and one year of quarterly updates. The administrator will be able to choose whether to install the firmware updates and the scheduled updates or not.

The Enterprise Editions of Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy A8 also come with a hybrid dual SIM slot: it will be possible to insert two SIM Cards or a SIM and a micro SD card. Two years of warranty are included in the package. Samsung Galaxy S9 Enterprise Edition has been launched with a price of €849 in Germany, while the A8 costs €499, which roughly translate into $1050 and $550, respectively.

After the launch in Vietnam and Europe (only the standard version), the new midrange model with Infinity Display has come in the Asian peninsula and it is actually possible to pre-order it from Amazon India. According to the Amazon website, the phone will be officially on sale from January 20, with a price tag of INR 32,990, that is equivalent to about 430 euros / 520 dollars.

It is not an affordable price, but in India Samsung Galaxy A8+ (2018) costs way less than the standard version in Europe. Just to remind you, Samsung Galaxy A8+ (2018) offers a glass + metal design with IP68 certification for water and dust-resistance.

This is what a new report by PhoneRadar is hinting at. The availability of the new handsets in India has still not been confirmed, but the source is reliable, so the chances that we will see the devices in India on Wednesday are high. Unfortunately, there is still no info about the listing price of the handsets in India.

Samsung Galaxy A8 and A8+ are the latest midrange smartphones launched by the Korean giant and they offer premium specs at a reduced price compared to flagships like Samsung Galaxy S8 and Note 8. Their bodies are composed of a glass back and a metal frame and they are IP68-certified. A8 and A8+ (2018) are the first mid-ranges by Samsung to sport an Infinity Display with an 18:9 aspect ratio.

The standard version has a 5.6-inch FHD+ panel, while the Plus variant has a 6-inch screen: both the panels have the Super AMOLED technology, just like most Samsung Galaxy phones from the last generations. Under the hood, both the devices sport a Samsung Exynos 7885 SoC paired with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB ROM. Note that the two phones have different dimensions, on the Plus variant there is space for a bigger battery with a 3500 mAh capacity, while the standard version has an average 3000 mAh unit.

It released a device which is not costly like the main flagships, but it is still a great high-end model with advanced performances. Oppo R11s is actually the best phone launched by Oppo together with its Plus version, and it belongs to the same genre of phones: high-ends at an affordable price. Let’s see which is better with a Samsung Galaxy A8 vs Oppo R11s comparison.

Samsung Galaxy A8 surely has better aesthetics. Oppo R11s is a simple full metal unibody phone, while Samsung Galaxy A8 is made of metal for the frame and glass for the back cover, and it is also IP68 certified. This means that the handset is waterproof just like Samsung Galaxy S8: you can put it underwater up to 1.5 meters deep, for 30 minutes at max. Samsung Galaxy A8 is a more compact phone, but it also has a smaller display: a 5.6-inch panel against the 6 inches of Oppo R11s. Both are AMOLED displays and they will probably offer a similar viewing quality, but A8 has slightly more pixels due to the 18.5:9 aspect ratio.

On the other hand, we think that Oppo R11s may offer better performances and will be more efficient thanks to its Snapdragon 660 SoC which has proved to have incredible performance. It is still impossible to compare the cameras as there are no samples shot by the A8, but we can predict an awesome challenge as these handsets are two excellent camera phones. The batteries have the same capacity, so the battery life will not differ so much. At last, while Samsung Galaxy A8 has a dedicated slot for micro SD, Oppo R11s has a hybrid dual SIM slot.

The Samsung Galaxy A8 is coming to Europe with a price of 500 euros (589 dollars) for the base variant with 3 GB of RAM, while Oppo R11s is available in Asia only with a price of 420 euros (500 dollars). Samsung Galaxy A8 appears slightly better, while Oppo R11s has a higher value for money. Both the handsets are a great choice.

If you are among these people, you will be glad to know that there are nice high-end phones which are very similar to flagships but have a lower price. Samsung Galaxy A8 and Xiaomi Mi Note 3 are among the best high-end phones which are still sold at a decent price, and the following is a Samsung Galaxy A8 vs Xiaomi Mi Note 3 specs comparison between them.

In terms of design and build quality, Samsung Galaxy A8 looks way better than Xiaomi Mi Note 3. Both are made of glass and metal, but A8 has a borderless display with a high screen-to-body ratio, and it is a fully waterproof phone. Its opponent has a classic 16:9 panel and it does not offer any certification for water-resistance. The display is also better on the Samsung Galaxy A8: it is an AMOLED, Full HD+ panel. Displays are not the strong point of Xiaomi phones, even though Xiaomi Mi Note 3 has a decent panel. An aspect in which Xiaomi Mi Note 3 is probably better is the hardware side: the phone has an efficient and very powerful SoC paired with a huge quantity of RAM: 6 GB. An advantage of Samsung Galaxy A8 is the dedicated micro SD slot: it is possible to use two SIM cards without saying goodbye to micro SD.

We still have no idea about the camera performance of the Samsung Galaxy A8 as the phone was just announced today. But on paper, the cameras of this handset are excellent: there is a rear camera with a very large aperture and dual front cameras which are interesting as well. However, Xiaomi Mi Note is the best Xiaomi camera phone and it is also in the top 10 camera phones tested by DxOMark, so it will be an exciting battle.

Further, the Xiaomi Mi Note 3 has a bigger battery that should last more. Samsung Galaxy A8 has been announced with a price tag of 500 euros (590 dollars) for Europe, which is not so affordable, but the price will drop in a few months. Xiaomi Mi Note 3 can actually be found at about 310 euros (online street prices) or 365 dollars.

With these prices, I would personally pick the Xiaomi Mi Note 3.
