A few months ago, Samsung launched the Galaxy A9 Star exclusively in China. Now it seems that the South Korean giant is all set to introduce the new trendy gradient color options for the Galaxy A9 Star.

Currently, the phone is available in two color options — Black and White. Now, another color option with pink and purple gradient color on the back panel will be introduced, as revealed through the leaked images. However, there’s no specific date revealed for the launch.

Since the phone is only available in China, the new color option will be limited to China only. The phone is also available in other regions as Galaxy A8 Star but there’s no indication about a gradient color option for the Galaxy A8 Star.

The Galaxy A9 Star is a premium mid-range device which features a 6.3-inch FHD+ Infinity Display and is powered by a 2.2GHz Snapdragon 660 processor along with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. It has a 24-megapixel + 16-megapixel dual camera system at the back and a 16-megapixel front-facing camera.

It runs on Android Oreo operating system and comes with full Bixby experience, including Bixby Voice, Vision, Reminder, and Home. Just like other Samsung flagship devices, this one too features a dedicated Bixby button. The phone is powered by a 3,700mAh battery.

Perhaps stimulated by the rapidly rising profile of Chinese tech giant Xiaomi in the Indian market, Samsung is gradually bringing more innovativeness and less stereotype into its smartphone designs and configuration. The company has just launched a new model for the Indian market. The Samsung Galaxy A8 Star, as it is known, comes with a number of specs features which is different from the usual Exynos SOC, 16:9 aspect ratio screen design, single camera, small battery and RAM sizes which usually characterise the company’s mid-range models. The model was reportedly launched in China earlier on as Galaxy A9 Star.

The Galaxy A8 Star sports a massive 6.3-inch Super AMOLED screen with a full-screen, notch-less design and 2220 x 1080 pixels resolution. The screen has an 80% screen-to-body ratio and utilises the 18:9 aspect ratio. The device utilises a metal frame and has a 2.5D curved glass over the display screen. The Samsung Galaxy A8 Star is equipped with the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 premium midrange chipset. The processor sure brings AI feature to the camera. The SoC is backed by 6GB of RAM while the phone has 64GB of internal storage expandable up to 400GB.

On the camera end, the Galaxy A8 Star packs a dual camera setup at the rear which is arranged in the iPhone X style. That is the two sensors are arranged vertically at the upper left corner. The dual camera setup is comprised of a 16MP + 24MP sensors. Both sensors come with a f/1.7 aperture. For selfies, the A8 Star features a 24MP  shooter with f/2.0 aperture. There is also a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor which unlocks the device in record time. The premium smartphone gets its juice from a 3,700mAh battery which ships with a 15W USB Type-C charger. Providing the interface is Android 8.0 Oreo-based Samsung Experience 9.0.  The phone also has the Bixby smart assistant built in, NFC and facial recognition.

The Samsung Galaxy A8 Star will go on sale in India on August 27 and will be sold exclusively on Amazon India. It carries a price tag of Rs. 34,990 (around $501) which is a little bit expensive considering the Snapdragon 660 chipset is somehow old and there are cheaper mid-range models utilising the SoC.

Samsung Galaxy A8 Star has been officially launched in the Philippines, but unfortunately, it is not a new smartphone. Less than a week ago, the Korean giant unveiled two new mid-rangers for the Chinese market: Galaxy A9 Star and A9 Star Lite. Well, the A8 Star is just a rebranded version of the A9 Star, so it has exactly the same specs sheet and it will be available in the Philippines with a similar price tag (it costs CNY 2,999 in China). No information is available about the Lite version, at least for now. Neither the listing price in the Philippines has been revealed, but we can just recap the specs.

Samsung Galaxy A8 Star has a premium glass sandwich design with a metal frame and it measures 162.4 x 77 x 7.6 mm. Its display is a wide 6.3-inch panel, even bigger than Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus. It is an Infinity Display with a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels and no notch. There are also Dolby Atmos speakers for an excellent multimedia experience. The handset can be unlocked through facial recognition, but the authentication system is not hardware-based like the iPhone X, so it is not as safe.

The hardware side includes an octa-core Snapdragon 660 chipset by Qualcomm, 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage expandable up to 400 GB with a micro SD. On the rear side, there is a dual camera in a vertical configuration with resolutions of 16 and 24 MP, a f/1.7 aperture and a LED flash. The front camera has a massive 24 MP resolution and a f/2.0 aperture, but it is not paired with a LED flash. Samsung Galaxy A8 Star boasts a battery with a capacity of 3700 mAh and fast charging which can be charged through a USB Type-C port. There is also an NFC module, an audio jack and Bluetooth 5.0.

Samsung has launched several affordable devices in the past few months and the Galaxy A9 Star will be the next one, alongside its Lite sibling. A leaked poster has just surfaced online and it confirms the launch of both the devices in China, as well as the design and info about the price tag. According to the poster, they will launch in China on June 7. Both will have a totally different design from the standard A9, and they will also be different from every Samsung midrange device. The handsets will feature a glass back and a metal frame, with a dual camera in a vertical configuration placed in the same position of iPhone X’s dual setup.

Besides the dual cameras, there is a fingerprint reader, while the power key is placed on the right side of the phone, and the volume controls will be on the left. Samsung Galaxy A9 Star will have a battery with a capacity of 3700 mAh which is expected to be a long-lasting battery as the phone will sport an efficient AMOLED display. The screen will have a size of 6.28 inches, an 18.5:9 aspect ratio and a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2220 pixels. There will be no notch, but bezels will be narrow thanks to the wide aspect ratio.

Samsung Galaxy A9 Star will come with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage, while we still do not know the memory configuration of its Lite variant. According to the poster, A9 Star will cost 3499 Yuan, which roughly translates into €467 or $546. The flash sales are expected to start on June 15 in China, but we still do not have official info about the availability of Galaxy A9 Star and A9 Star Lite outside of China. According to reports, the mid-rangers will also be launched in Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

Samsung’s upcoming smartphone, Samsung Galaxy A9 Star which carries model number G8850 has surfaced online in a short hands-on video. Also, some live images of Samsung’s smartphones have also leaked online which are said to be the Galaxy A9 Star and Galaxy A9 Star Lite.

According to the TENAA listing, the smartphone comes with a 6.28-inch Super AMOLED infinity display with screen resolution of 1,080 x 2,220 pixels. From the leaked images, it is clear that the smartphone will feature a dual camera setup at the back. The cameras are stacked vertically and placed on the top-left corner. There’s also a fingerprint sensor on the back, placed at the top-center position.

The dual camera setup is said to feature a 24-megapixel primary sensor and a 16-megapixel secondary sensor. On the front side, it’ll come equipped with a 24-megapixel snapper for taking selfies and video calling. It is expected to pack 4GB RAM and 64GB onboard storage, along with a microSD card for expanding storage capacity.

While the Galaxy A9 Star is expected to be powered by Qualcomm‘s Snapdragon 660 processor, the A9 Star Lite variant could be powered by Snapdragon 450 SoC. The smartphone will be running Android Oreo operating system out of the box.

Reports indicate that the Galaxy A9 Star Lite model will be available in three color options — Black, Grey, and Blue while the Galaxy A9 Star will come in just two color options — Black and White. Further, the A9 Star is expected to be powered by a 3,700mAh battery.

While the Chinese version has model number SM-G8850, the non-Chinese version carries model number SM-G885F. The A9 Star is expected to be available in Cambodia, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Vietnam, among others.
