The Galaxy Active usually features a shatter-resistant screen and military-grade body with durable metal frame. But last year, there were rumours that the Galaxy S9 Active won&#8217;t be launched and that the series has been discontinued. Indeed, the Galaxy S9 Active wasn&#8217;t launched but there are speculations Samsung will still launch a rugged smartphone soon. An official-looking press render of what&#8217;s said to be the Samsung Galaxy Active has appeared online.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Samsung-Galaxy-Active-Rugged-Phone-2019.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-267409" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Samsung-Galaxy-Active-Rugged-Phone-2019.jpg?x10805" alt="Samsung Galaxy Active" width="1129" height="764" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Samsung-Galaxy-Active-Rugged-Phone-2019.jpg 1129w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Samsung-Galaxy-Active-Rugged-Phone-2019-300x203.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Samsung-Galaxy-Active-Rugged-Phone-2019-768x520.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Samsung-Galaxy-Active-Rugged-Phone-2019-1024x693.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Samsung-Galaxy-Active-Rugged-Phone-2019-696x471.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Samsung-Galaxy-Active-Rugged-Phone-2019-1068x723.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Samsung-Galaxy-Active-Rugged-Phone-2019-621x420.jpg 621w" sizes="(max-width: 1129px) 100vw, 1129px" /></a></p>
<p>The Galaxy Active is the same phone that was spotted at MWC in February this year and believed to be a version of the regular Galaxy S9 with a rugged build. The device is said to feature an Exynos 9810 chipset paired with 4GB of RAM just like the regular S9. The rugged phone is also tipped to retain the S9&#8217;s camera setup. However, the device will pack a smaller 5.2-inch display and a bigger 4500mAh battery.</p>

<p>In addition, the Galaxy Active will sport physical navigation buttons placed below the display. There will also be a fingerprint scanner at the left side of the camera instead of at the back.</p>
<p>The render also contains a clue that the device will be launched on August 9 but there is no official word from Samsung just yet.</p>
