These gadgets are now synonymous with smart homes and even function as a command hub that links other smart products. Since its booming period, the market for such gadgets has settled down with a few key players holding the major market share. Now, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/samsung/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Samsung</a> aims to disrupt the standings by offerings its own smart speaker, which will be the second one the South Korean tech giant has developed.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/samsung-galaxy-home-mini/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Samsung Galaxy Mini</a>, as the name suggests, is a miniature variant of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/samsung-galaxy-home-smart-speaker/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Galaxy Home smart speaker</a> that was originally announced back in August of 2018. However, the Galaxy Home was never launched commercially and was set back numerous times. Thus, it can be said that Samsung has arrived two years late but is finally launching its very own smart speakers.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-303432 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/0131homemini1-1280x720.jpg?x10805" alt="" width="1280" height="720" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/0131homemini1-1280x720.jpg 1280w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/0131homemini1-1280x720-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/0131homemini1-1280x720-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/0131homemini1-1280x720-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/0131homemini1-1280x720-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/0131homemini1-1280x720-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/0131homemini1-1280x720-747x420.jpg 747w" sizes="(max-width: 1280px) 100vw, 1280px" /></p>
<p>One of the unique functions that the Galaxy Home Mini offers is an IR function, through which one can control old appliances that can&#8217;t be connected to the internet via WiFi. In other words, users can access these old TV&#8217;s or other entertainment systems through Samsung&#8217;s smart speaker if it&#8217;s within the line of sight.</p>

<p>Furthermore, Samsung Galaxy Home Mini also boasts other features like an AKG speaker, smart home connectivity, and will arrive with Bixby voice assistant. Notably, all of these technologies are owned by Samsung through previous acquisitions, so the company is sourcing its products internally through its subsidiary&#8217;s. Although, it remains to be seen whether people would prefer the Samsung smart speaker over the popular Amazon Alexa and Google Nest Home series.</p>

<p>Samsung is set to launch the Galaxy Home Mini on 12th February 2020 and will be initially released in South Korea. The device carries a price tag of 99,000KRW which roughly translates to 83 US Dollars. Unfortunately, it is unknown if the company has future plans on releasing the smart speaker in other markets, but if the gadget succeeds it will most likely see its way overseas soon after.</p>

The smart speaker was announced one year ago but is still elusive. Just when the Galaxy Home was being designated as vaporware, the company has come out to clarify that the smart speaker is still coming.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/samsung-speaker.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-269310" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/samsung-speaker.jpg?x10805" alt="Samsung Galaxy Home" width="727" height="454" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/samsung-speaker.jpg 727w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/samsung-speaker-300x187.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/samsung-speaker-696x435.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/samsung-speaker-673x420.jpg 673w" sizes="(max-width: 727px) 100vw, 727px" /></a></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>The company says the device isn&#8217;t dead and it is still being refined. Samsung looks forward to &#8220;sharing more with Galaxy fans soon&#8221;. In the meantime, it&#8217;s going to keep enhancing the speaker without expatiating on what that means. The company wasn&#8217;t forthcoming with a release schedule for the smart speaker. Since the release is still unannounced, we think Samsung is still expanding the smart functionalities of the TV to make it distinct from the smart speakers we have around. We&#8217;ll have to wait and see how this plays out.</p>
<p style="text-align: center"><strong><span style="color: #ff0000">EDITOR&#8217;S PICK</span>: <a title="Samsung Galaxy Book S with Snapdragon 8cx and Windows 10 Announced" href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/08/08/samsung-galaxy-book-s-with-snapdragon-8cx-and-windows-10-announced/" rel="bookmark">Samsung Galaxy Book S with Snapdragon 8cx and Windows 10 Announced</a></strong></p>
<p>The Galaxy Home smart speaker comes with Bixby smart assistant. Samsung has said the Galaxy Home outputs 360-degree sound and is tuned by the company’s AKG division. The speaker can serve as a hub for smart home gadgets that connect to Samsung’s SmartThings platform.</p>
