It was identified by the codename SM-J720F and according to speculations, it was the Samsung Galaxy J8 (2018). Fresh info is suggesting that this device is not the J8 but it may be launched as Samsung Galaxy J7 Duo, another of the many variants of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-j7-2017/">Galaxy J7. </a></p>
<p>The info comes from some files obtained by GSMArena which include the bootloader screen of the handset. According to the files, the first thing you can see when you power on the phone is &#8220;Galaxy J7 Duo&#8221;. The image seems to prove that the handset is not the Samsung Galaxy J8 (2018) and that it has a classic 16:9 aspect ratio. So, do not expect a borderless device.</p>

<a href='https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/j3.jpg?x10805'><img width="150" height="150" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/j3-150x150.jpg?x10805" class="attachment-thumbnail size-thumbnail" alt="samsung galaxy j8" loading="lazy" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/j3-150x150.jpg 150w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/j3-270x270.jpg 270w" sizes="(max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px" /></a>
<a href='https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/j2.jpg?x10805'><img width="150" height="150" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/j2-150x150.jpg?x10805" class="attachment-thumbnail size-thumbnail" alt="samsung galaxy j8" loading="lazy" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/j2-150x150.jpg 150w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/j2-270x270.jpg 270w" sizes="(max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px" /></a>
<a href='https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/j1.jpg?x10805'><img width="150" height="150" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/j1-150x150.jpg?x10805" class="attachment-thumbnail size-thumbnail" alt="samsung galaxy j8" loading="lazy" /></a>

<p>The image has a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels, so the alleged Galaxy J7 Duo has an HD display. According to Geekbench and GFXBench, this device, previously known as the Samsung Galaxy J8 (2018) has an octa-core Exynos 7885 SoC paired with 3 GB of RAM. The handset runs Android 8.0 Oreo and its launch should be imminent. The leaked package shows that the firmware version of the phone is J720FDDU1ARCJ / J720FODM1ARCJ / J720FXXU1ARCB.</p>

The tech giant will likely now focus on its entry-level/mid-range category. Quite a number of Samsung mid-range models have made appearances on benchmark websites as well as leaks and one of them is the Galaxy J-series models. The Galaxy J8 and J8 Plus have over the past few weeks<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/03/12/samsung-galaxy-j8-plus-appears-on-geekbench-with-snapdragon-625/"> appeared on Geekbench</a>. Now, a new leak has revealed the batteries of the duo showing the device is actually in the work and may be launched soon.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/samsung-galaxy-j8-batteries.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-large wp-image-182566" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/samsung-galaxy-j8-batteries-1024x934.jpg?x10805" alt="" width="640" height="584" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/samsung-galaxy-j8-batteries-1024x934.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/samsung-galaxy-j8-batteries-300x274.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/samsung-galaxy-j8-batteries-768x700.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/samsung-galaxy-j8-batteries.jpg 2048w" sizes="(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px" /></a></p>
<p>The Samsung Galaxy J8 is revealed to have a 3000mAh battery while the plus-sized J8 Plus will pack a 3,500mAh battery. The dimensions of the batteries look rather long which suggest that both devices might feature a full-screen 18:9 design but we are not so sure of that.</p>

According to GFXBench, its display has the classic 16:9 aspect ratio and a size of 5.5 inches. It shows images at an HD resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels, which is a step back if we compare it with the J7 (2017).</p>

<p>The alleged Samsung Galaxy J8 (2018) has an octa-core Samsung Exynos 7885 chipset inside, which can run at a max frequency of 1.6 GHz. The RAM is 4 GB, while the internal storage is 32 GB. On the back side, there is a single rear camera with a resolution of 12 MP, while the secondary camera for selfies has an 8 MP resolution. Both the sensor can record videos with a maximum resolution of 1080p. The operating system installed is Android 8.0.0 Oreo; we do not have any info about the battery as this info never appears on benchmark listings. Samsung Galaxy J8 (2018) might be the first phone by the company to have Android Oreo installed out of the box.</p>

<p>We say this because it may arrive before MWC 2018, which is the trade show in which Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus will be official. We do not know if Samsung Galaxy J8 will be sold in Europe, but the chances are high. In the last period, Samsung launched another smartphone in Europe: <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-a8-2018-smartphone-specs-and-features/">Samsung Galaxy A8</a>. It shares many things in common with the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-s8/">Galaxy S8</a>, but it is sold at a more affordable price (the listing price for Europe is €499). If it is coming in Europe, the J8 will be even more affordable than the A8.</p>
