There are so many new devices that it is impossible to remember all their specifications and it is even hard to understand which one is better than each other. That is why there are a lot of confused people about the latest Galaxy devices, and that is why we decided to clear their ideas. We did it by comparing three mid-rangers that belong to a similar price range: the one that goes from €250 to €350, for all the advanced users who want to save money and people who want well-balanced specs at a modest price. We are talking about the newly-announced Samsung Galaxy A60, the Samsung Galaxy M30, and the Samsung Galaxy A50.

Design

Samsung Galaxy A60 is the first Samsung phone from the A series to come with a punch-hole display announced in 2019. And only for its punch-hole display, it looks more futuristic and attractive than its opponents in this comparison. Thanks to the in-display camera, its bezels are very narrow and there is no need for a notch. Further, this display makes the handset more compact than phones with similar display size. At the second place, there is the Samsung Galaxy A50 coming with a clean backside thanks to its in-display fingerprint reader. But it has a classic waterdrop notch, so nothing special on the front, even though its bezels are very minimal.

Display

Despite its punch-hole camera, we exclude the Samsung Galaxy A60 from this comparison as it has a classic midrange-class IPS panel. Not bad, but it will never be at the same level as the wonderful Super AMOLED display of the Samsung Galaxy A50, which also includes an in-display fingerprint scanner as mentioned above. It comes with deeper blacks, brilliant colors and also a slightly larger diagonal than Galaxy A60. Right after there is the Galaxy M30 which comes with a 6.4-inch AMOLED panel as well, so it is almost as nice as the Galaxy A50.

Specs & Software

Samsung Galaxy A60 is the handset that is mostly focused on the performances and the reason is simple: it is powered by a more powerful SoC. We are talking about the Snapdragon 675 which represent one of the most impressive midrange chipsets by Qualcomm. If we exclude the Snapdragon 800 series composed of flagship-class processors, only the Snapdragon 710, 712 and 730 can be considered at the same level of better than the Snapdragon 675. If we exclude the Samsung Galaxy A60, the best is definitely the Samsung Galaxy A50 with its Exynos 9610 chipset, while the Galaxy M30 is the less impressive one since it has a lower-end Exynos 7904 chipset and it is still based on Android Oreo.

Camera

Besides having the best performances, Samsung Galaxy A60 is also equipped with the best cameras, both on the front and on the rear side. On the backside, you can find a triple camera setup with a bright f/1.7 aperture, a 32 MP main sensor, an ultrawide lens and a depth sensor. You get a similar setup on the other phones, but with lower resolutions and less bright focal apertures. The second place goes to the Samsung Galaxy A50 which is still above-average in terms of photo quality.

Battery

Finally, a department for which the Samsung Galaxy M30 can be considered better: the battery life. Thanks to its huge 5000 mAh battery, it can go beyond two days of battery life, and it even has a fast charging technology. Right after, we got the Galaxy A50 with a 4000 mAh unit.

Price

Samsung Galaxy A60 carries a starting price tag of €270/$303, Samsung Galaxy M30 costs about €250/$281 and Samsung Galaxy A50 starts from €350/$393. Despite its higher price, better display and the in-display fingerprint reader of the Galaxy A50, I consider the Galaxy A60 a better device due to its more powerful chipset and its higher camera potentialities.

That is what it will put it in competition with some of the most affordable mid-rangers which catalyzed the public’s attention. Among these, two devices which deserve a lot of attention are definitely the Redmi Note 7 Pro by Xiaomi and the Galaxy M30 by Samsung. If you are looking for a new mid-range phone to buy in this first half of 2019, here is a specs comparison between the new Honor 20i and these two very affordable handsets.

Design

There is definitely no challenge, at least in my opinion: Honor 20i is the most beautiful device here. It sports a stunning reflective back made of glass, as well as a borderless display with a waterdrop notch which reaches a very high screen-to-body ratio, even higher than Redmi Note 7 Pro. It is even more attractive if you consider that it is lighter and thinner than both Redmi Note 7 Pro and Samsung Galaxy M30. On the other hand, Redmi Note 7 Pro comes with very nice build quality as it is water resistant (even though it does not have an IP certification) and it sports the Gorilla Glass 5 protection for its display.

Display

While Honor 20i wins the design comparison, Samsung Galaxy M30 comes with a definitely better display. The Super AMOLED technology guarantees more vivid color as well as deeper blacks, and it is present on most of Samsung devices, while almost every midrange phone from the concurrency comes with a standard IPS LCD display. Samsung Galaxy M30 also has a slightly wider panel than Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro and Huawei Honor 20i.

Specs & Software

Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro is the fastest and performing device of this trio. It is powered by the upper-midrange Snapdragon 675 chipset that Xiaomi defines even better than the Snapdragon 710 due to its high CPU power. Honor 20i comes in a variant with more internal storage (256 GB), but its SoC is not at the same level as the Snapdragon 675; just to give you an idea, the Kirin 710 can be compared to the Snapdragon 660 as it offers very similar daily and graphics performance. Samsung Galaxy M30 is the less suitable one for people searching for high performance. Each device comes with a customized Android version, but while Honor 20i and Redmi Note 7 Pro have Android Pie out of the box, Samsung Galaxy M30 still comes with Android Oreo.

Camera

Despite it is the only to still come with a dual camera, Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro should provide the most impressive photo quality thanks to its main 48 MP sensor. It manages to shoot pretty nice photos in low light conditions and it captures a high level of detail. On the other hand, Honor 20i comes with a triple camera setup including a useful ultrawide lens. Further, it comes with a way better selfie camera sporting a 32 MP resolution. Samsung Galaxy M30’s camera is definitely not its strongest point, but it is still above-average for a midrange device like this.

Battery

Samsung Galaxy M30 wins the battery comparison due to a much bigger battery with a 5000 mAh capacity. But Redmi Note 7 Pro remains a great battery phone with its 4000 mAh. Honor 20i is just average with a 3400 mAh unit.

Price

Honor 20i debuted with a €210/$238 price tag, Redmi Note 7 Pro costs about €200/$225 and Samsung Galaxy M30 starts from about €250/$282. Overall, Redmi Note 7 Pro is the most balanced and interesting device due to its very good rear camera, big battery and better chipset.

The Korean giant is struggling at keeping its market share in the midrange segment in the last years, but it does not stop trying. We are talking about the Galaxy M30 which combines a great price with a huge battery and an interesting camera department. In this comparison, the new mid-rangers challenges the Redmi Note 7 Pro that is expected to become one of the best-sellers of 2019 and the newly-announced Oppo F11. Did Samsung release a more interesting mid-ranger than the main Chinese ones? This comparison will help you find out.

Design

The design of the Samsung Galaxy M30 did not convince me so much, unlike its other specifications. The one I prefer more is the Redmi Note 7 Pro with its reflective glass back, pretty compact size and even good build quality. It is not among the most resistant phones out there, but it is water resistant, unlike most of the midrange devices. The reflective glass back can be chosen in stunning gradient color variants making it even more magnetic.

Display

We appreciated the fact that Samsung chose to use a Super AMOLED display even for a midrange from the M series. AMOLED panels provide more vivid colors and this particular one is very brilliant. While the quality of the display of Samsung Galaxy M30 attracts me, someone may prefer the Oppo F11 because it has a bigger and more phablet-like display. With a size of 6.53 inches, it is more suitable for advanced users and productivity. Even if you are a gamer you will find it more comfortable. Redmi Note 7 Pro has a classic midrange-class display which offers nothing exciting, so Samsung Galaxy M30 wins the display comparison.

Specs & Software

Thanks to the powerful Snapdragon 675 and its great GPU, Redmi Note 7 Pro is the king of performances here. It is the best device for you if you like gaming and multi-tasking, because its chipset is faster and it is very performing with high-demanding tasks. The second place should go to the 12 nm Helio P70 found on the Oppo F11. This device alongside the Redmi Note 7 Pro comes with Android 9 Pie out of the box, while Galaxy M30 is still based on Oreo. It does not make the difference as every device comes with a highly customized Android version, but it is good to know. Each of these devices comes in the same memory configurations, so the chipset makes the difference. Note that Oppo F11 has no expandable storage, unlike its rivals which come with a hybrid micro SD slot.

Camera

While Oppo F11 and Redmi Note 7 Pro are equipped with a rear dual camera composed of a main 48 MP sensor and a secondary depth sensor, Samsung Galaxy M30 opts for a triple camera including a 13 MP main sensor, a 5 MP ultrawide sensor and a depth sensor. Oppo F11 and Redmi Note 7 Pro should deliver a better photo quality, while Samsung Galaxy M30 will click more original shots thanks to its wide-angle sensor. Which one do you prefer? The front camera battle should be a hard fight between Samsung Galaxy M30 and Oppo F11. Note that we still did not test all the cameras of these devices, so we can not give you a definitive opinion about them. Despite its photo quality may be inferior, I would personally pick the Samsung Galaxy M30 for its ultrawide sensor. Mid-rangers are far away from flagships when it comes to camera quality, so I would focus on the innovation and original shots instead of camera quality when getting a midrange phone.

Battery

The battery of the Samsung Galaxy M30 is the biggest ones, even though Redmi Note 7 Pro and Oppo F11 are among the best battery phones in their segment. Thanks to its 1000 mAh more than its opponents and its efficient AMOLED display, the Galaxy M30 will surely provide a longer battery life. There should be no challenge and the Galaxy M30 should be able to last up to three days with a moderate usage pattern. Oppo F11 and Redmi Note 7 Pro should last more or less the same, but Redmi Note 7 Pro may offer something more due to its smaller display and its efficient Snapdragon 675 SoC.

Price

In the Asian market, you can get a unit of the Samsung Galaxy M30 or the Oppo F11 for about €250/$280 in the base configuration, while Redmi Note 7 Pro, that is the winner of this comparison because of its better chipset and a higher value for money, can be found at just €200/$225.

While there were multiple reports doing the rounds, revealing information regarding the handset, the official launch date was not known, until now.

The South Korea-based company has now confirmed the launch date of the Samsung Galaxy M30 in India through a tweet from its official Twitter account. It revealed that the smartphone will be launched on 27th February at 6:00 PM IST.

Further, the company has mentioned that the smartphone will be available for purchase only through online marketplace Amazon India, at least in the beginning. While the availability dates are not known, it is expected to go on sale in the first week of March.

The tweet from Samsung India related to the Galaxy M30 mentions “3X power” which is most likely referring to the fact that the smartphone will come with a triple-camera setup on the back side. The smartphone was recently passed through FCC, hinting about the imminent launch.

The Samsung Galaxy M30 is expected to come with a 6.38-inch Super AMOLED Infinity-V display with support for Full HD+ screen resolution (2220 x 1080 pixels). The phone, which will feature minimal bezels, will house its front-facing camera in the V-shaped bezel on top of the display.

Just like the Galaxy M20, this one too will be powered by the company’s own Exynos 7904 chipset. In India, the smartphone will come with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. There could also be another variant with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.

Coming to the camera sensors, the phone could come with a 16-megapixel front-facing snapper along with support for face unlock feature. On the back side, the device will feature a 13-megapixel primary sensor and two 5-megapixel sensors along with an LED flash.

The phone will support Dual SIM, 4G VoLTE dual-band Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth, a USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack in terms of connectivity options. The device is expected to come pre-installed with Android 9 Pie-based One UI and will be powered by a 5,000mAh battery.

It seems the M series will also get a Galaxy M30 model as has been featured in a recent leak. The Galaxy M30 has once again leaked but we can’t vouch for the credibility of the source.

The Galaxy M30 has earlier appeared in a leak before the M10 and M20 were launched. The device had also appeared on GeekBench giving us a hint about the specs. The newly leaked specs are quite elaborate. The device is said to feature a 6.38-inch display with a resolution of 2220x1080pixels. The device is expected to be powered by an Exynos 7904 Soc with a memory combination of 4GB RAM + 64GB of internal storage.

The Galaxy M30 had earlier been tipped to ack a triple rear camera setup. This leak gives the sensors as 13MP (F1.9) + 5MP (F2.2 ) +5MP (F2.2) while at the front, there will be a 16MP (F2.0) selfie shooter. Under its hood, the M30 will pack a 5000mA battery. The device is also tipped to feature a gradient design available in gradient blue and black.
