Samsung has started pushing a new software update for the flagship Galaxy S10 series and the mid-range Galaxy A52 4G. The June 2021 Android security patch includes software updates from Samsung for the Galaxy A52 4G and the Galaxy S10 series. The Galaxy A52’s update comes with version number A525FXXS2AUE2. It is now accessible from the Caucasus region and Ukraine, while the builds for the Galaxy S10 series (S10e, S10, and S10+) have firmware version G97xFXXSBFUE6 and are already accessible from Poland.

The Samsung Galaxy A52 4G was released in March 2021. It is a mid-ranger with a 64 MP primary camera, a 6.5-inch display screen, and RAM between 4GB and 8GB. The display features a Super AMOLED, with a 90Hz refresh rate. The Galaxy A52 4G should not be confused with the flagship A52 5G, which has 5G support. The device is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5, with IP67 water and dustproof capacity. The A52 comes with the Android 11 operating system, One UI 3.1, Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G chipset, and Adreno 618 GPU.

The Samsung Galaxy S10 series features a generally smaller screen than the A52 and is less expensive. Most of the S10 models had Android version 9.0 out of the box but are upgradable to Android 11. They also feature a less powerful camera setup than the A52 and a few other features.

If you live in any of the stated regions and you’re yet to get the prompt for an update, you can easily download the security patch manually via your phone’s Settings.

Samsung has finally taken the wraps off the Galaxy S10 series which has keep the rumour mill agog for several months running. The Galaxy S10 series is comprised of the Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10+ and Galaxy S10E. The models are arguably Samsung’s most electrifying flagships yet considering how they deviate from the predecessor in several aspects.

In terms of the design, the Galaxy S10 series looks premium with the body made from glass and aluminium. The design isn’t very much different from the predecessor especially the rear design. The front is starkly different from Samsung’s previous phones, including the notch-bearing models from last year. Just as expected, the Galaxy S10, S10+ and S10E all come with the punch-hole notch, also known as hole-in-display design placed at the top right corner of the display. The Galaxy S10+ has a wider punch hole housing dual cameras while the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10E both have a single punch hole opening since they both pack a single selfie camera apiece.

Samsung Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10+ Features

The Galaxy S10 sports a 5.8-inch “Dynamic” Infinity-O AMOLED while the S10+ comes with a bigger 6.44-inch display.Both dislays have QHD+ resolutions and 19:9 aspect ratios. The displays are also HDR10+ certified and are said to offer marvelous outdoor visibility and unmatched color accuracy. The hole-in-display design gave the Galaxy S10+ up to 93% screen-to-body ratio. Further, the design doesn’t include a physical fingerprint scanner at the rear instead, the device comes with an in-display supersonic fingerprint sensor which Samsung says is faster than the optical fingerprint sensors that made the rounds on the Huawei Mate 20 Pro and the OnePlus 6T.

Samsung wasn’t the first OEM to announce a Snapdragon 855 phone as Xiaomi beat it to that title with the Mi 9 flagship released earlier today. However, the Galaxy S10 models are powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 855 chipset while the international version will be powered by Exynos chipset. On the memory aspect, the Samsung Galaxy S10 will be available with 6GB or 8GB of RAM and 128 or 512GB of storage, respectively. On its part, the Galaxy S10+ comes with 6GB, 8GB, or 12GB of RAM and 128GB, 512GB, and 1TB of native storage. All versions come with microSD card slots for further expansion, though we doubt anyone will ever find the need to do so on the one-terabyte version. The models also come with  stereo speakers, a USB Type-C port, IP68 water-resistance, and a dedicated Bixby button.

For photography, both the Galaxy S10 and S10+ feature triple rear camera setup. The camera configuration include a regular 77-degree 12MP sensor with an F1.5/F2.4 variable aperture, a 12MP 2x telephoto snapper with a 45-degree viewing angle and a fixed aperture of F/2.4 and an ultra-wide 16MP camera with a 123-degree viewing angle and a fixed F2.2 aperture. The first two sensors ave Optical stabilization (OIS) while the third sensor doesn’t. The front sensor for the Galaxy S10 is a single 10MP camera with OIS and 4K video recording. Now, for a selfie camera, that is awesome! 

The Galaxy S10 models all run Android Pie with the new OneUI on top. The new interface is designed with usability in mind and allows for intuitive interaction with almost all stock Samsung apps and menus. Further, Samsung touts both the Galaxy S10 and S10+ of capable of delivering 24+ hours battery life. The Galaxy S10 packs a 3,500mAh battery while the S10+ has a bigger 4,100mAh cell. In terms of connectivity, both the Galaxy S10 and S10+ are LTE-enabled but don’t have 5G functionalities, a feature  selling preserved for the Galaxy S10 5G. Both models also come with Wi-Fi 6, also known as Wi-Fi 802.11ax.

The Galaxy S10 models will be available in Prism White, Prism Black, Prism Green, Prism Blue, Canary Yellow and Flamingo Pink. The S10+ will also have a posh Ceramic White and Ceramic Black versions which will boast improved durability and protection against scratches and scuffs.

Samsung Galaxy S10E

The Galaxy S10E has always been in the rumour mill and indeed, Samsung announced the model alongside the others. It sports a 5.8-inch Infinity-O AMOLED display with a resolution of 1440×2960 pixels. The screen also comes with the latest scratch-resistant Gorilla Glass 6 and, of course, support for HDR. The Galaxy S10E doesn’t feature a curved edge design like the Galaxy S10 and S10+.

The phone is also powered by the latest Snapdragon 855 chipset paired with 6GB+128GB and 8GB+256GB combo. The phone doesn’t have an in-display fingerprint reader but its own is on the right side of the device. The device packs a dual camera setup at the rear which includes a 12MP dual aperture camera (F/1.8; F/2.4) with optical image stabilization, alongside a 16MP ultra wide angle one. The phone still has a 10MP sensor for selfies just like the others.

Under its hood, the Galaxy S10e packs a 3100mAh battery while for connectivity, it has Wi-Fi 6 (Wi-Fi 802.11 ax), LTE Cat. 20 with up to 2Gbps download speeds, NFC and Bluetooth 5.0.

Samsung Galaxy S10 5G

If you are looking forward to the first 5G phone from Samsung, here it is. The Galaxy S10 5G comes with a 5G modem which is the main thing differentiating it from the regular Galaxy S10. As we are aware, 5G is yet to roll out so, this is Samsung’s own modem that would herald the birth of the 5G era.

The Galaxy S10 5G comes with a huge 6.7-inch AMOLED display with 19:9 aspect ratio. It packs a mammoth 4500maH which will sure keep the lights on for a long time. This variant is only available 8GB RAM and 256GB of storage. Another distinguishing feature is the four camera lenses it packs. The fourth lens is a TOF camera while the others are the same with the Galaxy S10.

As for their pricing, the Galaxy S10 base variant with 8GB+128GB storage is launching at $900. On the other hand, the base 8GB/128GB version of the Galaxy S10+ is set to launch with a $1000 price tag. The new Galaxy S10e, on the other hand,  is priced at $749 for the 6GB/128GB version. Pre-orders for the tree models will commence on February 21.

As the February 20 launch event for the Galaxy S10 series draws nearer, we expect the rumour mill to continue buzzing. The latest leak comes from popular tipster Evan Blass and it is an official-looking promotional banner for the Galaxy S10+. Rightly so, the banner contains the render of the flagship device, availing us another chance to feast on the design.

The render only shows the front view of the Galaxy S10+ and the most important feature that we can see is the punch-hole display which houses not one, but two selfie cameras. The punch-hole design fits in line with Samsung’s Infinity O display technology, which the company talked about at a press conference back in November. As a result of the design, the bezels surrounding the display on the Galaxy S10+ are noticeably slimmer.

The Samsung Galaxy S10+ is said to feature a 6.4-inch AMOLED display just like the Galaxy Note 9 but this model may likely offer the highest screen-to-body ratio for any Samsung smartphone yet. Although the render doesn’t show the rear, previous leaks show the device will have three camera sensors with an LED flash at the side. There is no fingerprint sensor at the rear which means the device will feature an in-display fingerprint sensor. The location of the volume rockers and power buttons at the side don’t seem to have changed. The volume rockers and Bixby button are on the left side while the power button sits at the right. The Galaxy S10+ is expected to pack a Snapdragon 855 chipset as well as the latest Exynos 9820 on some models. For memory, the device will have at least 6GB of RAM and up to 1TB of native storage.

Rumour has it that the 5G version of the Galaxy S10+ may have been spotted. For over three months now multiple carrier cooperation with Sammy had revealed that such a model is indeed on the way even though Samsung won’t confirm that officially. A recent piece of information indicates that the device bears the model number SM-G977, which could be the first proper verification and approval of its presence.

The 5G model was seen with both the SM-G977U and SM-G977N model numbers as acquired by the folks over at Galaxy Club. These respectively could be the US and South Korean variants, suggesting that Samsung is working on the 5G model. There is no mention of the European model with number SM-G977F. This however doesn’t mean that Samsung isn’t preparing one. The 5G Galaxy S10+ is expected to reach consumers earliest June 2019. This means that the smartphone probably isn’t that far down the development line.

Another thing worth taking note of is the fact that 5G networks will be more pronounced in the US and South Korea by then – when it comes to accepting next-generation mobile networks, Europe is typically slower to adopt next-generation technology, so it makes sense for Samsung to give precedence to these variants that were spotted.

This 5G variant of the Galaxy S10+ aligns with the categorization of the Galaxy S10 Lite (SM-G970), Galaxy S10 (SM-G973) and, of course, the regular Galaxy S10+ (SM-G975). Prior to the commencement of sales on March 8, Galaxy S10 Lite (SM-G970), Galaxy S10 (SM-G973) and, Galaxy S10+ (SM-G975) will all be announced at an event in February. But the date of announcement of the 5G model still remains unknown.
