Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra improves its performance if compared to the Galaxy S21 Ultra thanks to two new chipsets. In some markets, it is powered by the Samsung Exynos 2200 mobile platform: the first mobile SoC with a GPU powered by AMD. In the remaining regions, it is fueled by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 mobile platform, actually the best by Qualcomm. The S21 Ultra comes either with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 or the Samsung Exynos 2100. The memory configurations of the S22 Ultra include up to 12 GB of RAM and up to 1 TB of internal storage, while the S21 Ultra comes with up to 16 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of storage. The former ships with Android 12 out of the box, while the latter runs Android 11 but it can already be upgraded to Android 12. However, it will get shorter software support.

The cameras of the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra and the S21 Ultra remain unchanged: they come with a 108 MP main camera with OIS, a 10 MP periscope sensor with 10x optical zoom, a 10 MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, an ultrawide sensor with a 12 MP resolution, and a 40 MP selfie camera.

The Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra was arguably the best Android smartphone offering from last year. But all good things eventually come to an end, and the flagship offering is no exception. Samsung’s official US site now no longer offers the S21 Ultra as an option, which isn’t all that surprising considering the S22 series is almost upon us.

PhoneArena reports that clicking on the “buy now” button for the phone redirects to S21, S21+, and S21 FE buying options. The page for the Ultra model is still intact, of course, but has been reduced to nothing but an archive now.

It could be possible that Samsung has done this deliberately so as to not let the S21 Ultra impact S22 Ultra sales, and if that’s the case, then the rest of the S21 lineup will likely get unavailable as well when the S22 and S22+ go on sale.

Or it could be the stocks for the Galaxy S21 Ultra truly running out. The global chip crisis has made it quite difficult for OEMs to maintain a steady inventory of high-end devices, especially of older models.

But it’s not just the US where the S21 Ultra could soon be turning history as the Exynos 2100-powered Ultra has also gone out of stock pretty much everywhere in Europe too. This means that the European variant could be facing discontinuation soon as well.

Still, in the US, if for some reason you’re still looking to buy the S21 Ultra, there are a few options. Best Buy is selling it at $1,200 unlocked and so is AT&T at the same price, for the entry-level 128GB model.

The Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra is easy to recommend to both camera enthusiasts as well as regular users due to its extremely sophisticated camera setup, which even trumps the latest iPhones in multiple cases. However, the S21 Ultra camera app only supports Pro Mode for the primary and ultrawide cameras – a bummer for some enthusiasts who also wished the same treatment for the telephoto lens. This has changed now though, with the new Expert Raw app from Samsung.

The South Korean company has uploaded Expert Raw on the Galaxy Store in South Korea (via SamMobile). This new camera app basically allows all of the rear cameras on the Galaxy S21 Ultra to get a taste of Pro Mode. These include the primary, ultrawide, 3x telephoto, and 10x telephoto cameras. Using it, you get far greater control over the camera hardware, thanks to controls for exposure value (EV), focus, ISO, shutter speed, and white balance. Contrast, highlights, shadows, saturation, and tint can also be adjusted. You even get a histogram to check if areas within a frame are properly exposed.

For the editing freaks, images can also be saved in their lossless JPEG versions or 16-bit linear DND RAW formats. Expert RAW also supports HDR, so there’s that. You can even directly open DNG RAW files in Adobe Lightroom through a dedicated button on the image viewer screen.

Samsung says that Expert RAW is a Galaxy S21 Ultra-specific thing at the moment, and is also limited to Android 12-based One UI 4.0. However, it will soon also be released for the Galaxy S21+ and the Galaxy Tab S5e. The app is currently in beta but a stable version is set to launch soon.

According to the latest Wave7 research report, the global chip shortage is doing a number on Samsung‘s smartphone market share in the U.S. This is due to the short supply of high-end Samsung Galaxy phones, which has helped increase demand for the Apple iPhone 13 line.

The research was conducted as a survey with 40 representatives of the major carriers, namely Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile. This report aimed to shed light on the sales of smartphones for October by the carriers mentioned above in the United States.

According to 65% of the store representatives, the demand for the iPhone 13 series is higher in October when compared to the demand for iPhone 12 for the same month last year.

Last month, the iPhone made up 72% of Verizon’s smartphone sales, while Samsung accounted for 23%. For AT&T, this number was 76% in favor of iPhone sales, compared to 20% of the Samsung sales. T-Mobile sales also favored Apple, with 66% of iPhones sold against 26% of Samsung devices.

Availability of the iPhone 13 has improved as of November 20th, with plenty of inventory in stock for the iPhone 13 base model. The iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max shipping dates are pushed into December.

The iPhone 13 Pro Max was the top iPhone 13 model, responsible for 20% of sales at Verizon and AT&T and 13% at T-Mobile. On the other hand, Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra was the top-selling phone for Samsung in the month of October. 62% of the carrier reps said that the S21 Ultra was among their top three sellers, while 42% stated that the Galaxy Z Flip 3 was among their top three selling models for the month. Reps say that the iPhone 13 Pro Max and larger-screened phones are doing well as they are being used for video conferences during the pandemic.

With Samsung models in short supply, T-Mobile reps stated that they are offering six OnePlus models as Android alternatives to Samsung. Google Pixel models saw their shares at Verizon and AT&T rise from 1% in September to 3% in October, the phones were released on October 28th, which was too late to impact the survey, and next month’s report will give us much more information.

Besides a great 108 MP main camera, it has a periscope sensor with 10x optical zoom and it is able to record videos in 8K resolution. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 5G is more advanced in terms of display because it has a foldable panel. The diagonal of the display, while the phone is unfolded, is whopping 7.6 inches, with a 2K resolution, a 120 Hz refresh rate, and the HDR10+ certification. Further, the foldable has an additional external display with a diagonal of 6.2 inches. Recently, the South Korean tech giant released new TV ads in the US, and even shared these ads on their official YouTube channel as well. In these ads, the brand can be seen comparing its current high end flagship, the Galaxy S21 Ultra, with the highest offering from the Cupertino based giant, the iPhone 12 Pro Max. The former carefully chose scenarios and highlighted camera features that would embarass the iPhone.

The new punch line from Samsung was that “Your phone upgrade shouldn’t be a downgrade” and the company clearly showcased that in the ads. The first ad compares the two devices in a scene where they are capturing a cheese sandwich. Here, the Galaxy S21 Ultra retains a much higher degree of detail compared to the iPhone 12 Pro Max thanks to its higher 108 megapixel resolution sensor.

The second ad went even further to humiliate the Apple iPhone as it was a zoom test. For those unaware, the Galaxy S21 Ultra features a 100x zoom lens on the rear camera module. This was compared to the simple 12x magnification offered by the iPhone, making it seem terrible in regards to detail. While the comparisons are strictly tailored to favor the Galaxy S21 Ultra, it does highlight the slower pace at which Apple adopts newer technology, with its current high end model still not offering any form of a dedicated zoom lens even in 2020/2021.

The Chinese giant just came up with the Mi 11 Ultra bringing maxed-out specifications to the market alongside a lot of innovation. A lot of people did not expect such an advanced phone and maybe the concurrence too. If you just need the most beautiful design, you should go for the OPPO Find X3 Pro, in my honest opinion. Its clean and incredibly elegant design is made with a process lasting 40 hours involving high temperatures up to 700 °C in order to make a back glass full of curves and without interruptions. The handset also comes in a special leather variant called Cosmic Mocha. On the other hand, Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra is still made of very premium materials, including a ceramic back, but it is definitely less attractive with that huge camera module.

Display

All of these devices are equipped with astonishing displays which earned the A+ vote from DisplayMate. They feature Quad HD+ resolutions, they can show up to one billion colors and they even come with adaptive refresh rates thanks to the LTPO technology. You should not make your choice by evaluating the displays since the differences are marginal.

Specs & Software

Even on the hardware side, these devices are very similar. They are all flagships with the best hardware department you can expect in 2021. With the exception of the European variant of the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, they are all powered by the Snapdragon 888 mobile platform paired with UFS 3.1 native storage. The Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra is the only one to offer a memory configuration with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of native storage, while the others stop at 12/256 GB.

Camera

There are a lot of things to say about the cameras of these handsets. They are all impressive camera phones and it is hard to say which one is literally the best. According to DxOMark, the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra is the best camera phone out there, but the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra has better zoom capabilities with its 10x optical zoom. The OPPO Find X3 Pro offers better macro performance thanks to its 3 MP microlens sporting up to 60x magnification. With the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra, you can shoot selfies with the rear cameras thanks to the secondary display on the rear side. Each device has its pro and cons, but each is an amazing camera phone.

Battery

You should not notice huge differences even when it comes to battery life. The OPPO Find X3 Pro should be the most disappointing one since it has a smaller 4500 mAh battery, but the advantage of this device is the fact that it has a more compact device. The Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra and the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra have similar specifications (in terms of energy consumption) and the same battery capacity, but with the Mi 11 Ultra, you get the highest charging speeds.

Price

You can find Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra, Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, and OPPO Find X3 Pro in the global market with prices ranging from €1100/$1300 to €1200/$1413 (prices vary depending on the region). At least until we tested every device thoroughly, we can not establish a winner for this comparison. The OPPO Find X3 Pro has the best design, Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra comes with the most interesting camera department, Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra is the only one to support the S Pen. The current flagship series from the South Korean giant Samsung — the Galaxy S21 lineup has now received support for the Amazon Luna game streaming service. This means that the devices in the lineup can access and play games on Amazon Luna.

The support is now available for all three smartphones — Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21 Plus, and Galaxy S21 Ultra. These phones already had access to Google’s Stadia, Microsoft’s Project xCloud, and Nvidia’s GeForce Now cloud gaming services.

Do note that its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy S20 series already supports Amazon Luna. Making the announcement, Amazon Luna tweeted and said that “Amazon Luna is now compatible with even more Android devices from Samsung including the S21, S21+, and S21 Ultra phone.”

For those who are unaware, Amazon Luna is a game streaming service, and to play games, the user just needs a stable internet connection, a compatible game controller, and a device that supports the service.

Currently, the game streaming is limited to 1080p at 60fps but the company will soon add support for 4K games for select titles. Notably, Amazon’s cloud gaming service is only available in the United States.

At launch, it was accessible on Fire TV, PC, Mac, and via its own web app on iOS. A few months ago, the service was released for Android users and is similar to the iOS version where users can directly access the cloud gaming services via the Chrome web browser without the need to install a dedicated app.

Apple iPhone 12 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra are two of the most advanced smartphones from these brands available in the market. Now Caviar, a Russian company that turns devices into luxury products, is given those two phones a gold treatment.

Both the smartphones — iPhone 12 Pro and Galaxy S21 Ultra, redesigned by Caviar uses 24-carat gold. This is the first time the Russian company is using purest 999.9 gold as the company has so far used 18-carat gold.

The devices come in the shape of a gold bar, weighing 1 kilogram each. While the company has managed to retain most of the features of these smartphones, they have compromised the camera module for the gold bar look.

On the back of the phones, there’s a Caviar logo, right below the engraved text that says “Fine Gold 999.9” and the weight of the device. There’s also a “Limited Edition” engraving on the phone as the company has said that there are only 7 units of them.

Given that gold is a very soft metal, the usage of pure gold means that the phones are not suitable for daily use. The smartphones will be shipped by the company in a luxurious white case-safe that is secured by a combination lock. As for the pricing, they start at $159,000, making them unaffordable for most people.

It is very hard to establish which phone has the best display not only because their specs are similar, but also because we still had no chance to test the OPPO Find X3 Pro since it has been announced just two days ago. At the moment, Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra offers one of the best displays you can find in the smartphone market, and so does the OPPO Find X3 Pro which is able to show one billion colors thanks to 10-bit color depth. The display of the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra has an additional feature: the S Pen support. Further, its in-display fingerprint reader is ultrasonic, which means better unlock performance.

Specs & Software

OPPO Find X3 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra are powered by the Snapdragon 888 mobile platform, but the European version of the Galaxy S21 Ultra has the Exynos 2100 which is actually inferior to the Snapdragon 888 in terms of power management. The OPPO Find X3 Pro has up to 12 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of internal storage, while the best configuration of the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra has 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of internal storage. The Snapdragon version of the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra wins the hardware comparison. The Sammy flagship will get four years of updates and three years of Android major updates, while OPPO actually has inferior update policies.

Camera

On the paper, the OPPO Find X3 Pro has a more interesting camera department. It comes with two 50 MP main camera (including an ultrawide one), a microlens camera which shoots macro with up to 60x zoom, and a telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom. With the Galaxy S21 Ultra, you get a 108 MP main sensor, a 10 MP periscope sensor with 10x optical zoom, a 10 MP telephoto sensor, and a 12 MP ultrawide sensor. Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra has better zoom capabilities in normal photos, while OPPO Find X3 Pro should guarantee better macro shots. The Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra has a bigger 5000 mAh battery and it should last more on a single charge in most of the scenarios, at least in the variant with Snapdragon 888 inside. On the other hand, the OPPO Find X3 Pro provides faster charging technologies: you get SuperVOOC 2.0 providing fast wired charging with 65W power and AirVOOC for wireless charging with 30W power.

Price

You can actually find the Galaxy S21 Ultra and the OPPO Find X3 Pro at similar prices in the global market: about €1150 ($1199 for the U.S. version of the Galaxy S21 Ultra). It is still too early to establish a rear winner of this comparison and it mostly depends on the users’ needs: the Galaxy S21 Ultra has the S Pen, amazing zoom capabilities, a bigger battery. Design

In my opinion, the design of the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra is more original and attractive. The camera design makes it more futuristic and it is also more compact than the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, despite the latter is actually thinner and lighter. The Galaxy S20 Ultra is even more compact, but the design of its camera module is definitely less beautiful.

Display

The most advanced display is offered by the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra: there is not a huge difference if we compare it to the Galaxy S20 Ultra and Note 20 Ultra, but it is slightly better. Just like the Note 20 Ultra, even the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra supports the S Pen, while the S20 Ultra does not. All the phones come with an in-display fingerprint scanner, curved edges, and a punch-hole design.

Hardware/Software

In the European variant, the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra and the S20 Ultra are powered by the same Exynos 990 chipset. But in the U.S. version, the situation is different since the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra is fueled by the Snapdragon 865+, an upgrade of the Snapdragon 865 found on the S20 Ultra. But in each case, the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra wins the hardware comparison thanks to even better chipsets: the Exynos 2100 and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888. Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra and S20 Ultra pack up to 16 GB of RAM, while you get a max of 12 GB with the Note 20 Ultra.

Camera

The worst camera phone of the trio is the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra due to inferior secondary sensors. The Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra is actually better thanks to a 48 MP periscopic camera with 4x optical zoom and an additional TOF 3D sensor for depth calculation. But the Galaxy S21 Ultra wins the camera comparison with its 10x optical zoom.

Battery

Galaxy S21 Ultra provides the longest battery life, followed by the Galaxy S20 Ultra with the same 5000 mAh battery capacity. The Galaxy Note 20 Ultra is a bit disappointing with its 4500 mAh battery. The Galaxy S20 Ultra has faster charging speeds. While you can actually find the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra for less than €1000/$900, the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra and the S21 Ultra are priced at more than €1000/$900 even if you look at online street prices. We do not recommend the Note 20 Ultra as its battery is not so satisfying and the S21 Ultra supports the S Pen too. You can go for the S20 Ultra if you want to save money, but you have to say goodbye to S Pen, the higher performance level offered by the S21 Ultra and 10x optical zoom.

Samsung‘s in-house chipset utilised on the Galaxy S20 series, the Exynos 990 was a disappointing chipset sort of, as it failed to match the Snapdragon 865. The Exynos 2100 was released as an improvement over the Exynos 990 and to take on the Snapdragon 888 with an improved power efficiency when compared to the previous model. However, the chipset doesn’t seem to match up the capabilities of the Snapdragon 888.

A holistic test result of the Exynos 2100 in comparison to the Snapdragon 888 in terms of the performance and power efficiency has now been published by the guys at AnandTech. The test was carried out using the two variants of the Galaxy S21 Ultra running Exynos 2100 and Snapdragon 888 processors. The team performed several tests on both devices which suggest that Samsung’s 5nm (5LPE) fabrication process brings some improvements to the Exynos 2100 in terms of power efficiency compared to their predecessors.

However, the Exynos 2100 is on par with TSMC’s 7nm process (N7P) and doesn’t measure up to the more advanced 5nm process. As a result, Qualcomm’s SD888 fared better in many of the tasks than the Exynos 2100 and also consumes less power. The exynos 2100 throttles earlier than the Snapdragon 888 counterpart which then slows down the performance when the load is sustained.

The reviewer even kept the Galaxy S21 Ultra with an Exynos 2100 chip in a freezer and kept the Snapdragon 888 version in front of a fan while performing benchmark tests. Surprising, the two devices still output almost similar results. What this portends is that the Exynos 2100 will most likely throttle under real-world scenarios.

The benchmark tests also show that the Exynos 2100 has a higher power consumption of up to 18-35% compared to the Snapdragon 888. The battery life will bear the brunt of this high power consumption. Both PCMark Work 2.0 and web browsing battery life test confirm that the Galaxy S21 Ultra Snapdragon 888 version lasts longer on a single charge compared to the Exynos 2100 version of the same flagship phone.

Design

Samsung Galaxy S21 and S21+ have the same design, with the only difference being their dimensions and the screen-to-body ratio (slightly higher on the S21 Plus). They both come with flat displays and a camera module with a triple camera inside. Instead, the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra is different due to the presence of a curved screen and a bigger camera module. While the camera module is definitely more invasive and the phone sports bigger dimensions, the front panel is undoubtedly more attractive due to the curved edges and the highest screen-to-body ratio.

Display

This year, Samsung opted for a Full HD+ resolution in regards to the vanilla version and the Plus variant of its latest flagship lineup. That is one of the reasons why the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra is the winner of the display comparison. It has a higher Quad HD+ resolution, and it is not all: the Galaxy S21 Ultra is also the only one to support the S Pen just like the Galaxy Note lineup. It is the first time in Samsung’s history that a phone from the S series supports the S Pen.

Hardware/Software

Samsung Galaxy S21, S21 Plus, and S21 Ultra come with exactly the same processors: either a Samsung Exynos 2100 or a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 depending on the reason. What makes the differences is the memory configuration: with the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, you can get up to 16 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of internal storage, while Galaxy S21 and S21+ are only available with 8 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of native storage. All of the phones are based on the same Android 11 customization.

Camera

Samsung Galaxy S21 and S21+ also come with the same camera department, which is inferior to the one found on the Galaxy S21 Ultra. The Ultra variant has a better main camera and even better secondary sensors, as well as a higher-end selfie camera.

Battery

The battery is actually different on each of the devices. Samsung Galaxy S21 is pretty disappointing with its 4000 mAh battery. Samsung Galaxy S20 5G, the company’s last year’s flagship smartphone didn’t perform well in the market in terms of sales. That is said to be one of the reasons why the South Korean giant launched its successor, Samsung Galaxy S21 5G, a few weeks earlier.

However, it seems that the company is keeping its hopes in check and its estimates for the sales of the Galaxy S21 5G lingers on the conservative side. As per the report, Samsung is estimating to ship around 26 million units of the Galaxy S21 series for the year, which is the same as the Galaxy S20 5G.

Based on these expected numbers from Samsung for the flagship lineup, it could be the least popular Galaxy S-series lineup ever. The company is estimating sales of 10 million units for the S21, while the S21 Plus and S21 Ultra are expected at eight million each.

It looks like the company is estimating the sales of this new flagship lineup based on the performance of its predecessor in the market. For the Galaxy S20 lineup, Samsung had originally targeted sales of 35 million units but managed to sell 26 million units.

Samsung may adjust the estimated shipping numbers for the Galaxy S21 series smartphones as the first quarter ends, which should provide a more clear picture of where the company stands as far the demand for its flagship devices is concerned. For what it’s worth, the company is likely to surpass the currently estimated shipment of 26 million as several analysts hinting a realistic target of over 30 million units.

Inside sources have made some claims about the fate of the Samsung Galaxy Note series. The Note series had, until recently, been Samsung’s flagship offering and the only Samsung phone with the S Pen feature. As we know, the Galaxy S21 Ultra also has a stylus and Samsung may also extend it to other models.

Tipsters had been predicting that the S pen technology was being extended to other models, as plans are underfoot to replace the Note series with foldable phones of the Z series.  

It would thus seem very obvious that the Galaxy Note series may be winding down, although it remains unclear whether it will come back as maybe the Galaxy Note 21 before the year runs out.  

The recent insider information coming from Samsung indicates that indeed a decision has been reached to retire the Note series. The decision might be to the chagrin of fans and enthusiasts of the product.

In a tweet, well-known tipster, Ice Universe stated that the former flagship Note series may have seen its last days and that there will be no Galaxy Note 21, moving forward.

Another industry insider with some major leaks under his belt, Ross Young all but confirmed the veracity of the rumor, and he has suggested that it was possible that Samsung might release the Note 20 FE since it has undergone confirmation by the phone maker. 

The sales projections for the Note and S series for 2020 fell flat as sales were hugely underwhelming, so the decision to discontinue the production of the Note series may be a cost-saving measure to revamp the sales traffic and overall outlook of the company for 2021. Indeed, the discontinuation may help firm up sales of the Galaxy S21 series.

A few days ago, Samsung officially launched its latest Galaxy S21 series smartphones in the market in three different models — Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21 Plus, and the top-end Galaxy S21 Ultra with notable differences in the specifications and features.

One interesting difference between these devices is the slow-motion video feature. While the Samsung Galaxy S21 and S21 Plus support 960fps super slow-mo video recording, the Galaxy S21 Ultra, which packs an upgraded camera, doesn’t support it natively.

In the footnote of the smartphone’s specs sheet, the South Korean giant reveals that the smaller S21 models can record 960 fps natively while the Galaxy S21 Ultra relies on digital interpolation to enhance 480fps video to 960fps.

Now, in a response to Android Policy regarding this, Samsung has confirmed that the larger sensor in the phone is responsible for the difference in performance. The larger image sensor operates at a slower shutter speed when recording video and instead of artificially limited smaller phones, the company opted to offer 960fps recording support and use frame rate conversion technology on the Galaxy S21 Ultra.

The Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra features a 12MP f/2.2 Dual Pixel AF ultrawide sensor with a 120-degree field of view, a 108MP f/1.8 0.8µm camera with OIS and PDAF, a 10MP f/2.4 Dual Pixel camera with OIS and 3x optical zoom, and a 10MP Dual Pixel AF periscope zoom camera with OIS and 10x optical zoom.

On the front side, the device comes with a 40MP f/2.2 sensor with PDAF for taking selfies and video calling. The phone also has support for 4K 60fps video recording with all five of its cameras and the device also brings 100X Space Zoom support.

PBK Reviews has released a teardown video detailing what it found when it disassembled Samsung’s latest Galaxy S21 Ultra smartphone. The teardown of the S21 Ultra comes barely a week after PBK released its review of the teardown of the Galaxy S21. The teardown was done on the international version of the smartphone.

The teardown reveals some exciting features of Samsung’s flagship product in the S21 lineup, the Galaxy S21 Ultra. A look at the camera module of the S21 Ultra showed that the camera lens is embedded inside a metal covering similar to the frame of the smartphone. The durability of this lens, held by solid adhesive to the glass panel is a remarkable improvement from the approach of Samsung in using glass covers for the lens previously, as seen in the S-series line up of smartphones.

In addition, the disassembling also revealed that there are no mmWave aerials on both sides of the device although their slots were visible on both sides of the inside of the phone.

A scrutiny of the three cameras of the S21 Ultra also revealed that all three cameras have optical image stabilization capabilities to produced greater visuals. The internal ecosystem of the S21 Ultra also has graphite deployed for the NFC antennae as well as motherboard, yielding better efficiency in heat dissipation for the device.

The internal sound architecture of the S21 Ultra showed some significant differences from the S21 which was disassembled earlier. The speaker at the top of the device does not have foam ball insulation for a greater sound performance. In addition, the S21 Ultra does not have a detachable screen connector cable implying that it will be quite difficult to replace the screen. The S21 had foam ball insulation as well as a detachable screen connector cable, which yielded an above-average repairability score quite higher than that of the S21 Ultra.

Samsung is expected to go official with the Galaxy S21 series in about a week’s time. The flagship series has continued to dominate headlines and even Samsung has been pretty generous with the device. A telecom carrier in Belgium – Voo has inadvertently unraveled the expected prices of the Galaxy S21 series.

The carrier accidentally posted the prices the three models will retail for in Europe and the specs sheet of the models. Although the pages have been taken down, a tipster was able to grab some screenshots (pictured) before the removal.

Going by the listing, the vanilla Galaxy S21 with 128GB storage will sell for €849 off-contract. On the other hand, the Galaxy S21+ will retail for €1,049 while the Galaxy S21 Ultra will sell for €1,399 for the base 128GB storage variants. This is similar to the €1,000 price tag for the Ultra which was earlier tipped. Another interesting aspect, going by this leak, is that the other two models are still cheaper than their predecessors.

Taking a look at the specs sheets grabbed from Voo’s website before the landing pages were removed, we can gather that the EU version may likely launch with an Exynos 2100 chipset onboard. Considering the efforts put in by Samsung in the chip development, we expect the performance to be topnotch. Samsung will equally launch Snapdragon 888-powered versions for select markets.

Other details include Android 11 across the board, AMOLED screens, a USB-C connector, 3.5mm audio jack, and more. The models also come with fast charging and wireless charging support.

Samsung introduced a 120Hz refresh rate on its smartphones with last year’s Galaxy S20 series. However, the high refresh rate was limited to Full HD+ screen resolution while the WQHD+ was limited to 60Hz.

But, if the new report coming from Ice Universe is to be believed, then the users won’t need to choose between high screen resolution or high refresh rate with the upcoming Galaxy S21 series flagship smartphones.

It is said that the upcoming Samsung flagship smartphones will support a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate for WQHD+ (3200 × 1440 pixels) screen resolution as well. But the feature could be limited to the Galaxy S21 Ultra model.

It’s noteworthy that the newly launched Xiaomi Mi 11 flagship smartphone also comes with support for a 120Hz high refresh rate for its QHD+ screen resolution display, as we mentioned in our hands-on overview.

The other two models in the series — Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S21 Plus could be getting a downgrade. It appears that the company has decided to limited both these models to Full HD+ screen resolution instead of Quad HD+.

It has also been confirmed that the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G will come with support for the S-Pen stylus, a first for the S-series smartphone. Being a top-of-the-line offering, the phone will offer the best from Samsung in terms of camera performance through the quad-camera configuration.

The device is expected to feature a 108MP primary camera sensor, along with a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens, a 10MP sensor with support for 3x optical zoom, and another 10MP sensor with 10x optical zoom support. To look at the stunning images, the company will be offering a 6.8-inch AMOLED display on the Galaxy S21 Ultra with 1600nits peak brightness.

Samsung is all set to launch the Galaxy S21 series of flagship smartphones on 14th January at its Samsung Unpacked event. Along with these phones, the company is set to launch a few more products at the same event, including Galaxy Buds Pro TWS earphones.

 Samsung just confirmed today that the Galaxy S21 series will officially be unveiled on January 14, ending weeks of speculations about the launch date. The Galaxy S21 series will continue to keep the rumour mill buzzing until the official unveiling. The Galaxy S21 Ultra case has now appeared online and it seems to confirm a key feature that will find its way to the Galaxy S series for the first time. That is an S-Pen stylus.

The leaked S View Flip Cover with S Pen for the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra seems to suggest that the S21 Ultra will not have a housing on the fuselage for the stylus. Instead, you will need to get a case that will hold the stylus.

The renders which were uncovered by German blog WinFuture, show that the device will have a slightly wider frame so as to be able to accommodate the thick S pen. Also, the case will hold the stylus in the right position for it to be charged wirelessly by the phone. The Bluetooth functions of the stylus such as a remote shutter and an accelerometer and gyroscope to detect gestures make it mandatory to keep the stylus charged always.

The leak also revealed that the S21 Ultra’s S Pen will cost €40, the same price as the Note20 model. Samsung will also sell it in a bundle with the Flip Cover and select silicone case as well.

Further, tipster Roland Quandt has tipped that the Galaxy S21 Ultra will be the only variant in the series that will have a MicroSD slot. In other words, both the Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S21+ will NOT have an SD card slot. The detail is said to have emerged from two different sources and not from an official specs sheet. However, the tipster scores the info a 9/10 confidence rating.

Samsung’s soon to be released Exynos 2100 flagship processor will be more power-efficient and yield a significantly longer battery life than the Exynos 990, according to reports from tipster Ice Universe, via a tweet from his Twitter feed.

The Galaxy S20 Ultra equipped with Exynos 990 was found to consume 55-percent of the battery during a “test project”, while the Galaxy S21 Ultra, fitted with Exynos 2100 lost only 22-percent for a similar test.

Further details of the test project were not provided by Ice Universe although it seems to be based on the phone’s energy usage for specific tasks under certain conditions. The Exynos 990 is a 7nm processor, while the Exynos 2100 will be a 5nm chip.

In comparison, the Snapdragon 888 is also a 5nm processor. Those two chips will be direct competitors in 2021, and Samsung will use both in its smartphones.

The Exynos 2100 will power Samsung’s high-end smartphones in Europe and the Indian sub-continent, while the Snapdragon 888 will apply for products produced for US and Chinese markets.

Qualcomm has a record of outclassing Exynos processors with their own offerings. It is yet to be seen whether this trend will change in 2021. What is obvious is that Samsung was certainly not oblivious of its rating with Qualcomm’s chips and could have gone the extra mile in research and development to berth the Exynos 2100.

Initial reports and projections have already put the Exynos 2100 a considerable step ahead. Samsung may indeed have realized the shortcomings of its processors, and made significant improvements and modifications with its latest chip. this time around.

It remains to be seen how accurate these claims are. The Exynos 2100 will likely come on stream by mid-December although Samsung has not put out a definitive statement to this effect.

Samsung is expected to announce the launch of its Galaxy S21 series in mid-January 2021, and they are likely to be the first phones to come with the Exynos 2100 processor.

Samsung is gearing up to be the frontrunner of launching Flagship Smartphones in 2021. The company’s next S series of flagships, touted to be the Galaxy S21 series will have three smartphones. Amongst them, the Galaxy S21 Ultra(Tentative) is now tipped to sport a 120Hz refresh rate screen.

The new tip comes from a well-known Ice Universe who says(via Sammobile) that Galaxy S21 Ultra will have a display up to 2K resolution. For the unware, 2K is between 1080p and 4K. Depending on the size of the display panel, it can be up to 1440×3088 pixels. Plus, the tweet reads, “2K+120Hz”. This could mean that the display will support 120Hz at 2K resolution. If this is true, then it will be the first of its kind for a Samsung device.

First-ever Samsung to sport 120Hz at 2K?

This is because Samsung’s flagships or any other devices, albeit having a 120Hz refresh rate screen, don’t support it on the highest resolution. In fact, if you select 120Hz as a refresh rate on Samsung, you are basically downscaled and locked to FHD+(1080p) resolution. And its latest flagships like Galaxy Note 20 Ultra is no exception to this. The best Samsung has done so far, is having an “Adaptive Mode” on devices like the Note 20 Ultra.

This basically toggles(60Hz or 120Hz) the refresh rate based on what you do. This is probably to help the panel, and battery last longer. However, with Galaxy S21 Ultra, it looks like Samsung is going to break the barriers. If the tip is true, the next flagship could have an option to lock the 120Hz at 2K resolution which is a first in any phone.

Galaxy S21 Ultra: Specifications(Expected)

The Galaxy S21 series, as a whole, will reportedly enter production by mid-December. However, a tip says that the part production of Galaxy S21 Ultra like DVT/PVT might have already begun. Anyway, the device(SM-G998U), which has already got NFC certification, will likely sport a 6.8-inch display with a centered punch-hole.

Besides, leaked specifications of the device say the display will be dynamic AMOLED. For cameras, we can expect a new 108MP 0.8µm HM3 primary sensor, laser autofocus, and no ToF sensor inside the quad/Penta camera setup. Other expected specifications include a 40MP selfie shooter, Qualcomm Snapdragon 875/Exynos 2100 SoC based on regions, 5,000mAh battery with 60W charging, Android 11, and more. It is expected to launch on January 14 and open for sale by January 29.

Samsung is done launching premium smartphones for this year and now the South Korean giant is gearing up to unveil its next-generation Galaxy S-series smartphone, which is likely to be named Samsung Galaxy S21.

The Galaxy S21 series have been in the leaks for some time and we keep getting more and more information. In the latest leak, we have got some information about the phone’s primary camera sensor and the fast charging capabilities.

As per the new report, the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra will come with the company’s own Samsung HM2 108-megapixel primary camera in the Penta-camera, which as the name indicates, is a successor to the HM1 sensor launched last year. The usage of the ISOCELL HM2 sensor in line with the previous report.

It is also said that the phone will have support for 1080p recording at 240fps, 4K recording at 120fps, and 8K recording at 30fps. The report goes on to add that the phone will 1440p display with either 120Hz or 144Hz refresh rate.

This is in line with the previous report which claimed that Samsung will use a battery with model number EB-BG998ABY which will be marketed as a 5,000mAh capacity battery. It could also support 60W fast charging technology.

The 3C listing of this series suggests that the Galaxy S21 will be fuelled by a 3,880mAh rated capacity battery while the Galaxy S21 Plus will pack a 4,660mAh battery. The batteries are reportedly manufactured by a Chinese company and not Samsung.
