Leaks and rumors about the Galaxy S24 series having satellite connectivity have been swirling for some time. Looks like now we have a clearer picture. A recent leak, discovered by SamMobile, confirms this feature will indeed be present in the upcoming flagship phones.

Galaxy S24 leak confirms satellite connectivity

The leak includes a screenshot, presumably from a Galaxy S24 model, showing a feature called “Emergency texts via satellite” alongside its function. According to Samsung, “If you call emergency services when you’re out of range or not connected to a mobile network, we will connect you via a satellite network so you can send an emergency text.”

Once connected, you should be able to send text messages with precise GPS location. This is precisely how satellite connectivity works in other phones like iPhones. The feature is expected to be available across the entire Galaxy S24 lineup, regardless of the processor (Exynos or Snapdragon) powering each model.

Earlier this year, Samsung also unveiled a 5G modem technology that allows direct communication between phones and satellites. This means calls, texts, and data can flow even when cell towers are nowhere to be found.

While Samsung may introduce satellite connectivity with the S24, it might not be available everywhere initially. Similar to iPhones, it could be limited to specific countries at first, with expansion plans later. Currently, the satellite connectivity feature for iPhones is only available in 17 countries. 

Beyond satellite talk, the Galaxy S24 series leaks also hint at an AI push. Leak suggests the top-of-the-line S24 Ultra might be marketed as the “Generative AI phone” and Samsung has even filed trademarks for “AI Phone” and “AI Smartphone.”

Samsung‘s highly anticipated Galaxy S24 series is likely to be unveiled in mid-January 2024. However, thanks to leaked official renders, we don’t have to wait until then to get a glimpse of these upcoming devices.

The renders, published by Windows Report, showcase the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra in all their glory. They also provide insights into the full specifications of these smartphones. 

Galaxy S24 Ultra Renders and Specifications

As expected, the Galaxy S24 Ultra will be the top-of-the-line model in the upcoming lineup. The phone will feature a squarish frame with almost flat sides and a flat screen. It will come in four colors: Titanium Black, Titanium Gray, Titanium Violet, and Titanium Yellow.

The S24 Ultra will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor and will come with 12GB of RAM. Storage options will include 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB.

To address overheating concerns, Samsung has reportedly incorporated significantly larger vapor chamber heat dissipation systems into the Galaxy S24 series. The Galaxy S24 Ultra gets the biggest improvement with a 1.9x larger vapor chamber cooling system than the one in the Galaxy S23 Ultra.

Likewise, the phone continues to sport four cameras on the rear: a 200MP primary sensor, a 12MP ultrawide lens, a 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, and a 50MP telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom.

The Galaxy S24 Ultra will also feature a range of AI and Generative AI features, thanks to the latest advancements in this field. It will also upgrade to Wi-Fi 7. All three models will offer 5G connectivity, Bluetooth 5.3, and a USB Type-C port.

Battery-wise, the Galaxy S24 Ultra will retain the same 5,000mAh battery capacity as its predecessor, along with 45W fast charging.

The S24 and S24+ will also come with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor. However, some variants of the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ will utilize the Exynos 2400 chipset in some countries.

There are also improvements in the thermals of the vanilla models. The Galaxy S24 features a 1.5x larger vapor chamber compared to its predecessor, while the Galaxy S24+ boasts a 1.6x larger vapor chamber system.

Moreover, the Galaxy S24 packs a 4,000mAh battery with 25W charging, while the Galaxy S24+ carries a larger 4,900mAh battery and supports 45W fast charging.

Samsung is rеportеdly planning to offer satellite communication support on its Galaxy S24 series smartphonеs next year. This is according to Samsung’s Prеsidеnt of Systеm LSI Park Yong-in who spokе at thе rеcеnt 2023 Sеmiconductor Expo (SEDEX) еvеnt.

Thе еxеcutivе did not еxplicitly mеntion thе Galaxy S24 sеriеs, but hе did say that Samsung has alrеady madе tеchnical prеparations to еnablе communication using satеllitеs. This is a strong hint that thе Galaxy S24 sеriеs will be thе first Samsung smartphonеs to support satеllitе communication.

The addition of satеllitе communication support would bе a significant upgradе for thе Galaxy S24 sеriеs. It would allow usеrs to stay connеctеd еvеn in arеas with poor cеllular sеrvicе or in thе еvеnt of an еmеrgеncy. 

Samsung is not the first company to add satеllitе communication support to its smartphonеs, as Applе introduced thе fеaturе on thе iPhonе 14 sеriеs last year.

Additionally, Samsung is also planning to incrеasе thе graphics pеrformancе of its smartphonеs by improving ray tracing. Ray tracing is a fеaturе that gеnеratеs light rеflеctions to add rеalism to gamеs. Samsung first introduced ray tracing on the Galaxy S22 with the Exynos 2200.

Samsung is also looking to implеmеnt on-dеvicе gеnеrativе AI in thе Exynos 2400. Gеnеrativе AI is a fеaturе that allows a virtual pеrsonal assistant to givе succinct and human-likе rеsponsеs, gеnеratе mеdia (vidеos and photos), and much morе.

The Samsung Galaxy S24 series is the company’s upcoming flagship lineup of smartphones. But prior to any official announcement, the South Korean model of the Galaxy S24+ model has surfaced on a benchmarking platform that revealed some of its key specifications.

Samsung Galaxy S24+ Korean Version

Earlier this month, the South Korean tech giant’s Galaxy S24+ model surfaced on GeekBench with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. Now, the Korean version of the Galaxy S24+ model has surfaced on the same benchmarking platform with the Exynos 2400 SoC. The listing reveals that this variant of the smartphone will carry the SM-S926N model number. Similar to the non-Korean model, this version will also run on Android 14 OS out of the box with the One UI 6 custom skin on top.

Looking at the GeekBench results, we can see that the Exynos 2400 variant of the Galaxy S24+ scored 2,044 points in the single core test and 6,406 points in the multi core test. To recall, the US variant Galaxy S24+ scored 2,233 and 6,661 points in the respective tests. So the performance gap between the two models is still present. But synthetic benchmark is never a direct indicator of real world performance. The Exynos variants have historically been slightly less powerful than their Qualcomm counterparts.

Although this gap is slowly shortening now. The latest GeekBench sighting also shows the deca core architecture, which is in line with our previous report. Unfortunately, this was all the information that was shared on the platform, so stick around for more updates regarding the Galaxy S24 series.

Samsung Galaxy S24+ outperforms Galaxy S23 Ultra’s GPU

Based on recent rumors, the South Korean tech giant is expected to launch the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ with the Exynos 2400 chipset. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S24 Ultra model is rumored to launch with the Galaxy S24 Ultra in every region. However, the latest sighting of the Galaxy S24+ shows the performance upgrades on GeekBench. A listing on the popular benchmarking platform shows the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 variant of this device.

Running the GeekBench 6 Vulkan test, the upcoming Galaxy S24+ model with the new flagship Qualcomm chipset achieved an impressive score of 17,031 points. This marks a significant 81.6 percent performance boost compared to the brand’s 2023 flagship Galaxy S23 Ultra, which is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Interestingly enough, the benchmark listing shows that this smartphone chipset’s performance appears to be on par with the desktop grade Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050.

It is worth noting that these are just synthetic benchmarks and these do not reflect real life performance. Furthermore, the GeekBench sighting offers very limited information regarding the Galaxy S24+. Samsung is set to launch the Galaxy S24 series early next year. The lineup will comprise the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and the top end Galaxy S24 Ultra. Now, a new leak has revealed key core specifications of the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ models. So here are all the details.

Samsung Galaxy S24 & S24+ powered by a new and improved Exynos 2400

The South Korean tech giant is planning on equipping the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ with a new Exynos 2400 SoC. For those unaware, Samsung is rumored to launch the Galaxy S24 Ultra with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC in every region. The 2024 Exynos chipset will feature a deca core configuration. This means that it houses 10 cores.

The chipset will have a 1+3+2+4 structure, which consists of one Cortex X4 Prime CPU core that clocks in at 3.19GHz. It is paired with five Cortex A720 performance cores with two cores having a 2.9GHz frequency while the other three have a 2.6GHz clock speed. Lastly, there are four Cortex A520 efficiency cores that clock in at 1.95GHz. The chipset will reportedly also feature the Samsung XClipse 940 and the Exynos 5300, which is an integrated modem that enables a downlink speed of up to 10GBps.

Samsung Exynos 2500

All of this is in line with our previous reports regarding the new Exynos 2400. Tipster @OreXda also shared additional information on X (formerly Twitter) regarding the 2025 Exynos. Apparently, Samsung plans on using a similar deca core configuration on the Exynos 2500 as well. Although, the next gen chip will feature a Cortex X5 Prime CPU core, along with two Cortex A730 performance cores, three Cortex A730 cores with slower clock speeds, and four Cortex A530 efficiency cores.

Samsung has officially announced the Exynos 2400 SoC, and it is likely that this chip will be used in the upcoming Galaxy S24 series. However, since the Exynos name has a mixed reputation, some users may be hesitant to see it return to the Galaxy S24 series, especially after Samsung’s decision to use Snapdragon chips globally in the Galaxy S23 series. A new report sheds light on the use of Exynos and Snapdragon chips in the S24 series.

According to a report by Korean outlet The Elec, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra will use a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset exclusively—no matter the region or market it’s sold in. 

On the other hand, the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ will use either the Exynos 2400 or the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, depending on the region. It is likely that the Exynos 2400 versions of the Galaxy S24 and S24+ will be launched in Africa, Asia (including South Korea), Europe, and Latin America, while the Snapdragon-equipped versions will be launched in North America (Canada and the US). 

This is similar to the approach Samsung took with the Galaxy S22 series. Samsung is reportedly in the final stages of deciding how to distribute the different variants of the Galaxy S24 series phones. So it is unlikely that the company will change its strategy now. 

Exynos 2400

The new Exynos chip features a 70% faster CPU and 14.7x faster AI processing than the previous generation Exynos. It also features the Xclipse 940 GPU, which is based on AMD’s latest RDNA3 architecture. Samsung has not unveiled its stats for GPU performance, but it claims that the chip offers substantially improved ray tracing performance in games.

However, based on past trends, the Exynos 2400’s GPU performance is unlikely to be as good as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3’s. The Exynos 2400 chip is reportedly fabricated on Samsung Foundry’s 4nm LPP+ node and has a 10-core CPU. 

Meanwhile, the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip is expected to use TSMC’s latest node, but some reports claim that there may be versions on both the 3nm and 4nm process. We will learn more about the process when Qualcomm unveils it at its Snapdragon Summit this month.

After the recent global launch of its latest foldable smartphones and tablets, Samsung has now shifted its attention to the upcoming Galaxy S24 series, the next generation of its premium smartphones. Leaks of the devices have started pouring in, with a recent one revealing that the Samsung Galaxy S24 could come with a 10-core Exynos 2400 SoC.

Now, the Samsung Galaxy S24+ US variant has emerged on Geekbench (spotted by MySmartPrice) with model number SM-S926U. The listing reveals that the smartphone has a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC with a maximum clock speed of 3.30GHz and a base clock speed of 2.27GHz.

The device is equipped with 8GB of RAM and runs on an Android 14-based operating system. In the Geekbench test, it achieved remarkable scores, surpassing the 2000 points mark in the single-core test with a score of 2223. Equally impressive, it scored 6661 points in the multi-core test on Geekbench 6.

With this listing, it looks like the brand will be launching the Galaxy S24 lineup with different SoCs for different regions. The US market will obviously get the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-powered smartphones, however, it remains to be seen which regions get the in-house Exynos 2400 chips.

The Exynos chips have always lagged behind in performance and efficiency compared to their Qualcomm Snapdragon counterparts. So it remains to be seen if the 10-core Exynos 2400 will be any different.

Now, the charging speeds of the Galaxy S24 series has been tipped by RGcloudS.

Samsung Galaxy S24 series may get a charging speed boost

The current generation Samsung Galaxy S23+ and S23 Ultra support 45W charging speed whereas the standard S23 is limited to 25W. The South Korean brand has not moved the charging speed by even a little above that. In fact, the support for 45W speed was first introduced in 2019 on the Galaxy Note 10+. 

As per a previous report, Samsung will adopt the stacked battery charging technology on the Galaxy S24 series that is found in electric vehicles. In simple terms, it is a method of improving the overall battery capacities without changing its physical size. This feature will reportedly be limited to the S24+ and S24 Ultra. Both phones are expected to be backed by a 5,000mAh cell. The stacked battery tech will also offer support for faster charging speed potentially maxing out at 65W. This is a 20W gain over the current 45W speed on the Galaxy S23+ and Ultra variants. The S24 Ultra is also tipped to come with a cooling gel for heat dissipation. 

Unfortunately, the Samsung Galaxy S23 will miss out the charging speed upgrade. This is because the company is yet to start running tests on the stacked battery technology and there may not be sufficient production capacity. 

The tipster also reveals the Apple’s upcoming iPhone 15 lineup will use stacked battery tech.

EVs inspire next gen battery tech for Samsung Galaxy S24 series

Based on a new report, the South Korean tech giant is seeking to improved the battery on the Galaxy S24 lineup by turning to technology from the EV industry. The company has reportedly partnered up with two Chinese firms to jointly develop the new battery technology. Samsung will be employing the stacking technology for batteries that is found in electric vehicles. To put things simply, it is a method on improving batteries’ overall capacity without the physical size changing.

The Samsung SDI is working on this new battery technology, which is the research and development unit of the brand. This R&D department is looking to improve the energy capacity on next gen batteries while aiming to retain the existing size. For this, it is working with the two Chinese firms that are deriving tech from Gen 5 batteries that are made for electric vehicles. In other words, they are miniaturizing the battery technology that can then be used in smartphones and tablets.

Foldable smartphones are gradually becoming more popular, and it seems they’ll soon be mainstream. In recent years, we’ve seen many brands launch their folding phones but Samsung continues to lead this intriguing category. And it seems the Korean OEM is planning to expand its portfolio even further by launching as many as 6 foldable devices in 2024. In addition, the brand is also reported to reorganize its S series lineup by removing the plus model next year. Here are the details.

According to Twitter User @RGcloudS, Samsung plans to make many significant changes to its smartphone and tablet portfolio next year. The brand could launch up to 6 foldable devices next year, namely Galaxy Z Flex, Z Fold Ultra, Z Flip Ultra, and notably a Z Tab. The usual Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip are also included.

The source claims that “Z Ultra” branded models will use a 4K Samsung display, while the standard “Z” ones will feature QHD display manufactured BOE. In addition, the Z Flip could arrive with a 2K Samsung-made display or FHD BOE panel.

Notably, it has been claimed that the Samsung Galaxy Z Flex will be a tri-fold smartphone, meaning it would fold thrice unlike the regular foldables. In addition, the company is apparently also working on a foldable tablet called Galaxy Z Tab. Since it would be a foldable tablet, you can expect it to offer a comparatively larger display.

Additionally, the Twitter user claims Samsung is gearing up to bring new mid-range series, dubbed the Galaxy K series. While we don’t know much about the new lineup, it will likely sit below the Galaxy A series. Further, it is reported that the Korean company will ditch the Galaxy S24+ model next year and launch a new premium model in the series.
