<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/samsung/">Samsung</a>&#8216;s rumored Galaxy S27 Pro may still be months away, but it&#8217;s already looking like one of the company&#8217;s most interesting smartphone releases in quite some time.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/galaxy-s26-features-kv-1024x576.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-741137" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/galaxy-s26-features-kv-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/galaxy-s26-features-kv-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/galaxy-s26-features-kv-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/galaxy-s26-features-kv-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/galaxy-s26-features-kv-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/galaxy-s26-features-kv-746x420.jpg 746w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/galaxy-s26-features-kv.jpg 1457w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>A new leak suggests the device could pack a 5,000mAh battery, which doesn&#8217;t sound particularly surprising until you look at the rest of the rumored specifications. The Galaxy S27 Pro is <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/05/21/samsung-galaxy-s27-pro-display-size-leak/">said</a> to feature a 6.47-inch display, although the latest leak rounds that up to 6.5 inches. Either way, it would make the device noticeably smaller than the Galaxy S27 Ultra.</p>

<p>To be fair, the Ultra model was previously reported to feature a slightly bigger cell in the 5,200mAh to 5,500mAh range. But battery life isn&#8217;t determined by capacity alone.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="577" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Samsung-Galaxy-S27-Ultra-Ai-render-1024x577-1.png?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-741138" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Samsung-Galaxy-S27-Ultra-Ai-render-1024x577-1.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Samsung-Galaxy-S27-Ultra-Ai-render-1024x577-1-300x169.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Samsung-Galaxy-S27-Ultra-Ai-render-1024x577-1-768x433.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Samsung-Galaxy-S27-Ultra-Ai-render-1024x577-1-696x392.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Samsung-Galaxy-S27-Ultra-Ai-render-1024x577-1-745x420.png 745w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>The Pro&#8217;s smaller display should consume less power in day-to-day use, and Samsung may also opt for a slightly more conservative performance profile to better manage heat in the smaller chassis. If that happens, the gap in real-world battery life could end up being much smaller than the battery capacities suggest. In fact, the S27 Pro could potentially match, or even exceed, the Ultra&#8217;s endurance in certain usage scenarios.</p>

<p>For those wondering, the S27 Pro is also rumored to use the same Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset as the Galaxy S27 Ultra. That means the two devices should benefit from similar efficiency gains at the silicon level.</p>

<p>The camera situation could be just as interesting.</p>

<p>Leaks suggest Samsung may bring the same main and ultra-wide sensors set to be used in the Ultra to the Pro model, while also adding a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/05/28/740167/">50MP 3.5x ALoP telephoto</a> camera.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="526" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/CES_2025_Award-Engineer-Key_Feature_2-PC-1604x824-1-1024x526-1.webp?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-741139" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/CES_2025_Award-Engineer-Key_Feature_2-PC-1604x824-1-1024x526-1.webp 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/CES_2025_Award-Engineer-Key_Feature_2-PC-1604x824-1-1024x526-1-300x154.webp 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/CES_2025_Award-Engineer-Key_Feature_2-PC-1604x824-1-1024x526-1-768x395.webp 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/CES_2025_Award-Engineer-Key_Feature_2-PC-1604x824-1-1024x526-1-696x358.webp 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/CES_2025_Award-Engineer-Key_Feature_2-PC-1604x824-1-1024x526-1-818x420.webp 818w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>The Ultra, on the other hand, is rumored to retire its 3x 10MP telephoto lens and rely on sensor cropping from the main 200MP camera up to 5x zoom. If that&#8217;s the case, the S27 Pro&#8217;s dedicated 3.5x telephoto camera could prove more useful for day-to-day photography.</p>

<p>Samsung will likely position the Ultra as the ultimate camera flagship in the lineup. But based on the leaks so far, the Pro model may actually end up being the more practical and more interesting option for most users.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/galaxy-s26-features-kv-1024x576.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-740169" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/galaxy-s26-features-kv-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/galaxy-s26-features-kv-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/galaxy-s26-features-kv-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/galaxy-s26-features-kv-1536x864.jpg 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/galaxy-s26-features-kv-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/galaxy-s26-features-kv-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/galaxy-s26-features-kv-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/galaxy-s26-features-kv.jpg 1653w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>What makes the leak interesting is the camera setup. The S27 Pro is rumored to use an <a href="https://semiconductor.samsung.com/news-events/tech-blog/ces-innovations-awards-2025-honoree-interview-alop/">ALoP telephoto lens</a> with around 3.5x optical zoom paired with a 50MP sensor, and some insiders believe it could actually produce better-looking shots than the Ultra in the most commonly used zoom ranges.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="526" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/CES_2025_Award-Engineer-Key_Feature_2-PC-1604x824-1-1024x526.webp?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-740168" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/CES_2025_Award-Engineer-Key_Feature_2-PC-1604x824-1-1024x526.webp 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/CES_2025_Award-Engineer-Key_Feature_2-PC-1604x824-1-300x154.webp 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/CES_2025_Award-Engineer-Key_Feature_2-PC-1604x824-1-768x395.webp 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/CES_2025_Award-Engineer-Key_Feature_2-PC-1604x824-1-1536x789.webp 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/CES_2025_Award-Engineer-Key_Feature_2-PC-1604x824-1-696x358.webp 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/CES_2025_Award-Engineer-Key_Feature_2-PC-1604x824-1-1068x549.webp 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/CES_2025_Award-Engineer-Key_Feature_2-PC-1604x824-1-818x420.webp 818w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/CES_2025_Award-Engineer-Key_Feature_2-PC-1604x824-1.webp 1604w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>That might sound strange at first, considering the Ultra is still expected to be Samsung’s top camera phone. But the idea here is fairly simple. The S27 Ultra may reportedly <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/04/30/galaxy-s27-ultra-could-drop-one-of-its-cameras-to-save-space/">drop the separate 3x telephoto lens</a> entirely and instead rely more heavily on cropping from its 200MP main camera for mid-range zoom shots.</p>

<p>The S27 Pro, meanwhile, would keep a dedicated optical zoom camera specifically optimized for that range. In real-world use, that should help with portraits, indoor zoom shots, and everyday photography between roughly 2x and 5x where people actually use zoom most often.</p>

<p>Leaks also suggest both the S27 Pro and S27 Ultra could share the same new 200MP main sensor along with an upgraded 50MP ultrawide camera. The biggest differences may come down to zoom hardware, size, and premium extras like the S Pen.</p>

<p>The Pro model is reportedly being positioned as a more compact “mini Ultra” option with a flat display around the 6.4 to 6.5-inch range. In other words, Samsung may be trying to offer flagship-level cameras without forcing users into the largest possible phone.</p>

<p>Interestingly, this approach feels somewhat similar to what other brands have been experimenting with recently. Instead of simply adding more camera sensors, companies are starting to focus more on which focal lengths people actually use most often.</p>

<p>Of course, all of this is still very early, and Samsung’s plans could easily change before launch. But if the leaks are accurate, the Galaxy S27 Pro may end up becoming one of the more interesting additions to Samsung’s lineup in quite a while, especially for users who want strong cameras without carrying around a massive Ultra model.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/samsung/">Samsung</a> may be considering a noticeable change for the future Samsung Galaxy S27 lineup. According to new supply chain reports, the company is exploring the use of OLED panels from Chinese display maker BOE for at least some versions of the standard Galaxy S27.</p>

<p>If that ends up happening, it would be a fairly big shift for Samsung’s flagship phones, which have traditionally relied almost entirely on panels made by Samsung Display itself.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="768" height="432" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Samsung-Galaxy-S27-Ultra-Ai-render-768x432-1.png?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-739430" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Samsung-Galaxy-S27-Ultra-Ai-render-768x432-1.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Samsung-Galaxy-S27-Ultra-Ai-render-768x432-1-300x169.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Samsung-Galaxy-S27-Ultra-Ai-render-768x432-1-696x392.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Samsung-Galaxy-S27-Ultra-Ai-render-768x432-1-747x420.png 747w" sizes="(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px" /></figure></div>

<p>The reported reason mostly comes down to cost. BOE is said to have offered panels that are roughly $5 cheaper per unit compared to Samsung Display. That may not sound huge at first, but across millions of phones, the savings add up pretty quickly.</p>

<p>The timing also makes sense from Samsung’s side. Component costs, especially DRAM memory prices, have been rising again recently, and smartphone makers are under pressure to control production costs.</p>

<p>For now, reports suggest Samsung Display would still remain the primary supplier, with BOE acting more as a secondary source. Samsung <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/01/01/samsung-may-turn-to-cheaper-csot-displays-for-some-galaxy-a57-units/">already uses</a> panels from companies like TCL CSOT in some mid-range Galaxy devices, so the idea itself is not completely new. The bigger talking point is simply the possibility of BOE entering the flagship Galaxy S lineup.</p>

<p>There are also reports that the base Galaxy S27 could use an older OLED material set instead of Samsung Display’s latest-generation technology, again likely as part of the same cost-cutting effort.</p>

<p>Of course, display quality is one area where Samsung phones have traditionally had a very strong reputation, so some users will probably question whether panel consistency could change depending on the supplier. Samsung Display is still widely considered one of the best OLED manufacturers in the industry and even supplies panels for companies like Apple.</p>

<p>At the same time, most users would probably never notice small differences in everyday use if Samsung calibrates the panels properly.</p>

<p>The Galaxy S27 series is expected to launch sometime in early 2027, so there is plenty of time for Samsung’s plans to change. Still, the report does give an interesting look at how aggressively smartphone brands are now trying to manage flagship production costs behind the scenes.</p>

<h3><strong>Galaxy S27 Pro may bridge the gap between Plus and Ultra</strong></h3>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="768" height="480" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Samsung-Galaxy-S26-and-S26-Plus-768x480-1.png?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-731509" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Samsung-Galaxy-S26-and-S26-Plus-768x480-1.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Samsung-Galaxy-S26-and-S26-Plus-768x480-1-300x188.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Samsung-Galaxy-S26-and-S26-Plus-768x480-1-696x435.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Samsung-Galaxy-S26-and-S26-Plus-768x480-1-672x420.png 672w" sizes="(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px" /><figcaption>Galaxy S26 series</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>According to reports from Korean publication ETNews and other industry sources, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/05/19/samsung-galaxy-s27-ultra-pro-leak-design-battery/">Galaxy S27 Pro</a> could feature a 6.47-inch OLED display. This would place it between the regular Galaxy S27 and the larger Galaxy S27+ in terms of size. The phone is reportedly aimed at users who want top-tier specifications without carrying an oversized device.</p>

<p>The Galaxy S27 Pro is said to share many of its core features with the Galaxy S27 Ultra. Rumored specifications include a next-generation Snapdragon chipset, Samsung’s Privacy Display technology, and a flagship-grade camera system. The camera setup may include a 200-megapixel primary sensor, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom.</p>

<p>Reports also suggest that Samsung may skip the S Pen on the Galaxy S27 Pro to keep the phone slimmer and more compact. This would leave the Galaxy S27 Ultra as the only model in the lineup with stylus support and productivity-focused features.</p>

<p>The move appears to align with a growing trend in the premium smartphone segment where brands are offering flagship hardware in multiple screen sizes. Apple and Google already offer Pro-level devices in relatively compact form factors, and Samsung may now be preparing a similar strategy for Galaxy users.</p>

<p>The Galaxy S27 Pro is also expected to become a replacement for Samsung’s recent Edge experiment, which reportedly did not see strong demand despite its slim design. While details about battery capacity and pricing remain unclear, the device could appeal to buyers looking for a compact phone without major compromises.</p>
