Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event has come and gone, and the tech giant didn’t launch a smartwatch as expected. Yet, there were rumors that the Korean giant will launch a Rose Gold variant of the Galaxy watch Active2.

Indeed, Samsung has announced the Galaxy Watch Active2 Rose Gold variant. The new colorway is only available in the 40mm Bluetooth variant of the Galaxy Watch Active2. In addition to the new Rose Gold variant, Samsung has begun seeding a big new software update for all the Galaxy Watch Active2.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch Active2 features a stainless-steel case and comes with a 1.4-inch Super AMOLED display with a screen resolution of 360 x 360 pixels. The full-color Always-On display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass DX+ on top.

Under the hood, the device is powered by a Samsung’s Exynos 9110 dual-core processor clocked at 1.15GHz and is paired with 1.5GB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage. The device is running Tizen-based Wearable OS, making it compatible with Android 5.0 or above on Android devices with more than 1.5GB RAM (Samsung/Non-Samsung), and iPhone 5 and above running iOS 9.0 or above.

The new firmware ushers in the Samsung Health app, faster automatic workout detection, and home training fitness programs among others. Another new addition is SmartThings Find which helps you locate the watch if it’s ever misplaced.

The new update which brings the R820XXU1DUA3/R820GFC1DUA3 builds has a file size of nearly 85MB and is presently being seeded in Canada and South Korea for now though it will soon make its way to more regions around the globe.

Samsung pushed a new update to the Galaxy Watch3 in early August. The tech giant has started pushing a similar update to the Galaxy Watch Active2. The update greatly enhances its exercise tracking and messaging abilities.

The update will start rolling out for the Bluetooth versions of the smartwatch and later on, it will be pushed to the LTE models. Top among the list of features which the update adds to the smartwatch is the new Running Analysis feature which helps you improve your form and avoid injury. It allows the watch to track and report the following metrics: asymmetry, regularity, stiffness, vertical oscillation, ground contact time.

Another important feature is the improvement of the ability of the watch to now measure VO2 max, which will help you track how your endurance has improved over time.

The new update also adds a Smart Reply feature to the Galaxy Watch Active2 which will ensure you don’t have to reach out to your phone often. Smart Reply will suggests responses to incoming messages. It will also show the full conversation thread, not just the last message.

If you receive a photo, you can view it on the watch itself. And if an emoji says more than words can, you can send back an AR Emoji or a Bitmoji sticker.

This update also allows you to access music playlists stored on your phone. Additionally, the screenshot feature now supports scroll capture. The new Fall detection feature will send out an SOS message (including your location) to up to four predefined contacts.

South Korean giant Samsung had recently launched the Galaxy Watch Active2 and Galaxy Watch 4G in India but the Watch Active2 didn’t feature 4G LTE connectivity. However, today, Samsung India launched the Galaxy Watch Active2 4G, expanding its smartwatch portfolio in the country.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch Active2 features a stainless-steel case and comes with a 1.4-inch Super AMOLED display with a screen resolution of 360 x 360 pixels. The full-color Always-On display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass DX+ on top.

It can manually track more than 39 workouts with seven of them automatically activated, including running, walking, cycling, swimming, rowing machine, elliptical machine, and dynamic workouts.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch Active2 also has new health sensors on the back, which take in readings faster and the watch also helps you track real-time stress levels through Samsung Health, provides access to guided meditation programs through integration with Calm.

The smartwatch also comes with Heart Rate Monitoring (with 8 Photodiodes), Electrocardiogram (ECG), Accelerometer (measure up to 32g of force), Gyroscope, Barometer, and Ambient Light sensor.

It is also rated 5ATM as well as IP68, making the Galaxy Watch Active2 water and dust resistant and the device is also MIL-STD-810G certified for durability. The device comes with connectivity features like Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi b/g/n, NFC, A-GPS/ GLONASS/ Beidou.

It supports e-SIM, 4G LTE B1, B2, B3, B4, B5, B7, B8, B12, B13, B20, and B66. The device measures 44 x 44 x 10.9 mm and is powered by a 340mAh battery which also comes with support for WPC-based wireless charging.

Samsung Galaxy Watch Active2 4G comes with a 44mm steel dial in Silver, Black and Gold color options for a price of ₹35,990 (~$505). It is now available in Samsung e-store, Samsung Opera House, e-commerce websites, and offline stores.

Samsung is reportedly working on two smartwatches under its Galaxy lineup — Galaxy Watch 2 with codename Renaissance and Galaxy Watch Active2. While the pictures of the Galaxy Watch Active2 were leaked earlier, now some of the device’s specs and features have surfaced online.

Samsung’s smartwatches have this attractive rotating bezel for navigation but the South Korean giant ditched it with the launch of Galaxy Watch Active earlier this year. But if the latest reports are to be believed, then Samsung will bring a similar feature with its successor — Galaxy Watch Active2.

As per the report from SamMobile, the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active2 will use a touch sensor around the bezel of the display to simulate that rotating bezel. When the user slides his/her finger around the screen, the software would accept the input just like the physical rotating bezel used to.

Along with this, some specifications of this upcoming wearable device have also leaked online. The report adds that the Galaxy Watch Active2 will come in two models — 44mm and 40mm. The 44mm Active2 will have a 1.4-inch display while the 40mm variant will see a 1.2-inch display. Both the devices will come with 360×360 AMOLED panels with DX+ glass. It also adds that the case will be built to MIL-STD-810G durability standards.

There will be two models based on the connectivity options — Bluetooth and LTE which will apparently have 768MB and 1.5GB of RAM respectively. Also, it will be the company’s first smartwatch to have support for Bluetooth 5.0, which should consume less power along with having improved range.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch Active2 will be available in Stainless Steel and Aluminium finishes for both sizes and will come in Black and Silver color options. Also, Pink Gold color will be offered for the 44mm and 40mm in Aluminium while Gold will be available for both sizes in Stainless Steel.
