Samsung has launched a limited-edition Galaxy Z Flip 5. It’s called the Galaxy Z Flip 5 Maison Margiela Edition, and it has been designed in partnership with Paris-based high-end fashion house Maison Margiela.

It is the company’s second collaboration with Samsung, with the first one being the Galaxy Z Flip 4 Maison Margiela Edition.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 Maison Margiela Edition Overview

The Galaxy Z Flip 5 Maison Margiela Edition features a semi-transparent back panel that reveals the inner workings of the phone. This design is inspired by Maison Margiela’s signature deconstructed aesthetic.

The phone displays Maison Margiela’s iconic jacket on its semi-transparent back and comes bundled with two cases: a Flap Leather Case and a Flipsuit Case.

The Flap Leather Case showcases an atelier’s craftsmanship through its natural black leather, woven fabric design, and genuine fabric label. When the device is opened, it showcases a pocket pattern, and closing the device hides it.

The Flipsuit Case comes with two NFC-based cards: one with a paint splatter design and the other with a silver plate. Both cards display Maison Margiela’s iconic numbering design. Switching to any of these cards also switches the device’s theme to that particular pattern.

The device also comes with a special theme and two wallpapers: Stitches and Trompe-L’oeil. The Stitches wallpaper displays handwoven stitches on the cover and inner screens, while the Trompe-L’oeil wallpaper displays a jacket’s inner workings.

The attention to detail extends beyond the phone itself to its packaging. The retail box is wrapped in a paper-based woven book cloth fabric and comes with special in-box contents.

The box includes a USB Type-C to Type-C Cable and a 25W charger, which is not included with the standard Z Flip 5. As for the specifications of the phone itself, they remain largely similar to the regular model.

Price and Availability

The limited-edition Galaxy Z Flip 5 Maison Margiela Edition is now available in China, Hong Kong, and South Korea with a generous 512GB storage. In South Korea, the phone carries a price tag of KRW 2,497,000 ($1,923) and is available through a lottery system on Samsung.com.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 Maison Margiela Edition Specifications

The Galaxy Z Flip 5 Maison Margiela Edition is expected to feature a unique design inspired by graffiti and street art, as seen in leaked images. The phone is also believed to come with a custom leather case and other exclusive accessories.

Samsung is reportedly teaming up with fashion brand Maison Margiela once again to release a special edition Galaxy Z Flip 5. The two companies collaborated on a special edition Galaxy Z Flip 4 last year.

The new special edition Galaxy Z Flip 5 is expected to have the same internal specs as the regular model but with a few cosmetic changes.

Leaked images show that the phone will have a grungy aesthetic, with graffiti-inspired designs on the inside of the case and elegant, retro-looking leather on the outside.

No word yet on the pricing or availability of the Galaxy Z Flip 5 Maison Margiela edition. However, it is expected to be released in limited quantities, like its predecessor.

Last year’s special edition was only made available in Hong Kong, France, and South Korea. It remains to be seen if the Galaxy Z Flip 5 Maison Margiela edition will be released more widely.

This is far from the only special edition of the Galaxy Z Flip 5 that Samsung has launched. If retro is more your vibe, consider the Galaxy Z Flip 5 Retro Edition. It’s a throwback to Samsung’s flip phones of old.
