Samsung is getting hit with a sizeable tax penalty in India after failing to pay the government over import tariffs. The Indian government has levied a massive fine for failing to pay evading these duties on both the company and the senior executives. So here are all the details.

Samsung India Tax Penalty

The news comes from a Reuters report, which states that Samsung and its officials in back taxes and penalties for evading tariffs. These duties that the South Korean tech giant is over telecom equipment that it imported. This is one of the largest tax penalties demanded by the Indian government in recent times. The total sum faced by Samsung India is $601 million in penalties. This includes 44.6 billion rupees in unpaid taxes or around $520 million along with a 100 percent penalty.

That is not all, the government has also fined executives of the brand, which includes seven India based senior officials. Samsung executives have been hit with a $81 million fine, including network division vice president Sung Beam Hong, CFO Dong Won Chu, finance general manager Sheetal Jain, and indirect taxes general manager Nikhil Aggarwal. The brand has also been accused of misclassification of “Remote Radio Heads”, which is a critical 4G telecom component, which allows Samsung to avoid 10 percent or 20 percent tariffs.

The imports consisted of $784 million worth of components from South Korea and Vietnam between the periods 2018 and 2021. Mukesh Ambani owned Reliance Jio purchased these from the popular tech brand. This was also responsible for a large portion of Samsung’s net profits in 2024 in India, which totalled to around $955 million.

Samsung is facing production disruption in India. The company’s plant in the country has been hit with backlash from its workers, who are currently on strike. These employees are protesting for multiple reasons, which include higher wages. So here’s what we know so far.

Hundreds of Samsung Workers Strike for Higher Wages and Union Recognition

According to a Reuters report, one of Samsung Electronics’ key production plants in South India has been hit with operations disruption. This marks the second day of disruption as hundreds of employees are on strike. The employees are striking for higher wages, while Samsung executives are looking to resolve the problem. Samsung is a major player in the Indian market, which is also a key region for the brands consumer electronics and home appliances.

However, workers are on strike in the Sriperumbudur plant that mainly produces electronic products outside of smartphones. Regardless, it still contributes around 30 percent of Samsung’s annual revenue from India. The factory employs around 1,800 people, but the site in Chennai is on “Indefinite Strike” as per posters. Union Leader E. Muthukumar stated that the strike will continue for a third day as well.

The employees aren’t just asking for better wages but also for better hours. They even want Samsung to recognize the formation of a union, which is backed by the Entre of Indian Trade Unions group. As of right now, Samsung’s senior officials are set to visit the factory to find a resolution. About 800 employees have signed a register outside the factory to record their protest, which arrives right ahead of the crucial festive season in India. During this period, brands offer deals on their products to encourage purchasing these goods or getting gifts for others.

Those pre-reserving have to buy a VIP pass of Rs 1,999. It will be sent to your registered email and mobile number. 

Samsung is offering benefits up to Rs 7,000 on pre-reserving. They can get the upcoming devices in special colors that are only available on the company’s website. The brand is also assuring 70 percent buyback value at the time of redemption. If you pre-reserve, you will be the first to have access to the products when they go on sale in the country. Interested customers in Z Fold 6 will be eligible for an e-voucher for Rs 7,000 whereas it is Rs 3,999 on the Z Flip 6. There are e-vouchers up to Rs 6,499 and Rs 2,299 on the forthcoming Galaxy Watch and Buds 3 series respectively. 

Samsung will send a welcome mail with details about the pre-reservation e-voucher code. The token amount is refundable if the user does not use the voucher during the pre-booking period. Meanwhile, the VIP pass amount will be adjusted in the purchase price of the device at the time of checkout.

Samsung is rumored to be working on a new Galaxy F series smartphone. The company is set to unveil the Galaxy F55 model soon, with the latest sighting hinting at an imminent launch in the Indian and Bangladeshi markets. So here are all the details.

Samsung Galaxy F55 Support Page Up in India and Bangladesh

The South Korean tech giant’s upcoming Galaxy F55 was spotted on the official support page in the two regions. It was seen carrying the SM-E556B/DS model number. While no finer details like specs and features were revealed in the support page, the website listing hints that the Galaxy F55 5G’s launch is near. Back in January 2024, this device was spotted on the BIS certification and received WiFi certification as well.

For those unaware, the new device is the successor to the Galaxy F54 model, which launched in the middle of 2023. So, the Galaxy F55 could also see a June 2024 launch timeframe. Last year’s F54 was equipped with the Exynos 1380 SoC, but the F55 will likely offer newer hardware like the Exynos 1480 processor. To recall, the Galaxy F54 sports a tall 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display that offers a Full HD+ resolution, Gorilla Glass 5 protection, and a 120Hz refresh rate.

Under the hood, a massive 6,000mAh battery pack powers this device, which supports 25W wired fast charging. This device offers 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. The rear packs a 108-megapixel triple camera setup, while the front houses a 32-megapixel selfie shooter. The camera system and display likely won’t see any major changes, but some internal specs could see upgrades. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5, Z Flip 5 record pre-booking in India, the sale date announced

Samsung revealed that the company received 1,00,000 pre-bookings for the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 in India. This was achieved in the first 28 hours of the opening of the pre-booking window on July 27th. The latest generation Z Fold 5 and z Flip 5 surpassed the last year’s Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 5. The figure is 1.7 times higher than the pre-bookings Samsung received for the last year’s models. 

It’s worth noting that Samsung did not exactly reveal the pre-order numbers as of today for the fifth-generation foldable in India. They are only for the first 28 hours when the pre-order window opened and not for the two weeks till today. Samsung Southwest Asia CEO JB Park hopes that the new devices will help mainstream foldable and also help consolidate their leadership in India. 

Some customers who pre-ordered the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 will get their units delivered on August 11. Additionally, Samsung also revealed that both foldable phones will be available for purchase starting August 18 at leading online and offline stores across the country. The Galaxy Z Flip 5 starts at Rs 99,999 whereas the Z Fold 5 starts at Rs 1,54,999 for the base variants. The South Korean brand already has its biggest smartphone factory in Noida but the foldable phones were never made there. The previous generation Galaxy Z devices were assembled in South Korea and Vietnam. However, this changes now with the fifth-generation foldable phones. 

While it’s good news that the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 Indian units are made in the country, there is no respite for customers as the phones are pricier compared to their predecessors. The company has probably received tax breaks for making the foldable devices in India but they are not passed on to the Indian consumers in the form of reduced prices. 

India is the second biggest smartphone market. The Galaxy Z Flip 5 starts at Rs 99,999 whereas the Z Fold 5 starts at Rs 1,54,999 for the base variants. Customers pre-booking the devices until August 17 will be eligible for benefits worth up to Rs 20,000 on the Z Flip 5 and Rs 23,000 on the Z Fold 5. The South Korean tech giant will announce the two new foldable phones along with a bunch of new products on July 26. But according to a new report, one of the leading retail partners of Samsung has revealed the sale dates for the new upcoming foldable devices. Reportedly, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 will go on sale in India on the 14th of August 2023. On the other hand, the pre-booking will go live on the same date as its official announcement.

We recently reported on the European price leak for the two foldable phones. The higher end Galaxy Z Fold 5’s 256GB variant will go on sale for 1,899 EUR, while its 512GB will sell for 2,039 EUR and 2,279 EUR price tag for the 1TB version. On the other hand, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 will start from 1,199 EUR for its 256GB storage configuration. At the moment, Samsung has already begun taking pre-reservations for 1,999 INR and offers benefits worth 5,000 INR.

The South Korean tech giant teased the new OLED TV launch with a new microsite on its official Indian website. Here, we can see the company telling us to “Get Ready For More” followed by a “WOW”. Below this teaser poster, the brand offers a way to “Register your interest in the Next Quantum Leap in display technology”. In other words, Samsung is set to launch a new TV lineup outside of its QLED TV lineup.

Meaning, the new TV are likely to be based on the OLED display technology. Apart from this, the company did not reveal any finer details regarding the upcoming TV model. However, Samsung just recently announced two new 4K OLED TV in the American market. This includes the new S95C and S90C, which are the from its latest OLED 4K TV lineup. These are offered in multiple versions, namely 55 inch, 65 inch, and 77 inch display sizes.

The company released the new 4K OLED TVs, which starts from 1,889 US Dollars. The S95C and S90C models feature AI powered Neural Quantum processor for dynamic and vibrant color reproduction. Keep in mind that this still just speculation and Samsung might decide to launch neither of these TV models, or perhaps just one of them in the Indian market. Samsung India has apparently seen three of its public policy executives quit in India within a single week. The news arrives from sources close to the matter, so here are all the details regarding this matter.

The sources told Reuters that the South Korean tech giant has seen three of its executives quit that were a part of its public policy team. However, this news also comes as Samsung is facing regulatory issues in the Indian market. For those unaware, a public policy team play an integral role in tech companies since they help the firms to balance local regulation issues in any given nation. As of right now, Narendra Modi’s government (Indian Prime Minister) is pushing for domestic electronics manufacturing.

Furthermore, they have also been implementing stricter regulations on tech giants that operate within the country. As per sources close to the matter, Binu George that worked with the company’s corporate affairs and strategy, Surabhi Pant who worked with policy and public affairs, and Nikhil Kaura from the same team have resigned from Samsung within the last week. The three were a part of a seven member team that is headed by Aggarwal, who is a former bureaucrat that joined the company back in December.

He had previously also led public policy at Meta and Uber in India. These three executives have yet to respond to Reuters’ request for a comment. Similarly, Samsung has also decline to respond to this matter as well. The reason for the three execs quitting is still unclear, but it adds to the challenge that Samsung is facing in the region.

The South Korean tech giant’s new Bespoke Jet models includes two models. They feature an All in One Clean station that charges the vacuum cleaners and also automatically empties its dustbin. The Bespoke Jet models is lighter than its predecessor and houses an improved Digital Inverter Motor. The company has announced two new models, namely Bespoke Jet Pet and Bespoke Jet Pro Extra. The Bespoke Jet Pet is available in a Woody Green color variant, while the Bespoke Jet Pro Extra arrives in a Midnight Blue option.

Both model comes with an Advanced Suction Power of up to 210W. It also offers a two times larger battery packs over its predecessor that enables up to 120 mins of total run time. Samsung has also equipped with the Bespoke Jet series model with a 99.99 percent multi layered Filtration system. The company also promises best in class design along with a lightweight build, an integrated digital display, a Telescopic pipe, and a fully washable dustbin.

Bespoke Jet Bot+

The new Bespoke Jet Bot+ is a robotic vacuum cleaner that arrives with a clean station that charges the devices and let’s it clean out its dustbin automatically. It is equipped with LiDAR sensors that allows it to accurately navigate across buyer’s home and offer efficient cleaning. The device features a WiFi Smart Control and users are even offered a Live Cleaning Report that let’s you track the cleaning progress of Jet Bot+ on a virtual map in real time and checking its cleaning history. The Jet Bot+ arrives with voice control support with voice assistants like Bixby, Alexa, and Google Home. This model is available in a Misty White color option and houses high efficiency brush for improved cleaning.

Pricing & Availability

The new Samsung Bespoke Jet Vacuum Cleaner range starts from 65,900 INR with the Jet Bot+, while the Jet Pet model costs 79,900 INR. The top of the line Jet Pro Extra, which is a Vacuum and Mop, will go on sale for 89,900 INR. Samsung launched its next-generation flagship Galaxy S23 series last week. The lineup comprising of standard, Plus, and Ultra models are expensive than the previous generation models. Now, the South Koren brand announced that it has received 1,40,000 pre-orders within the first 24 hours of opening up of pre-bookings. The number is twice as many as the last year’s Galaxy S22 series. This also shows a strong demand for premium smartphones in the country. 

The record pre-booking numbers of the Galaxy S23 series is attributed to cashbacks, bundled ecosystem products, and affordable schemes. Samsung India’s Vice President said that the average selling price of a Galaxy S23 series device is Rs 1 lacs which almost rakes up Rs 1,400 crore in revenue. He also added that Samsung’s proprietary financing scheme has been extended to 18,000 pin codes from 12,000 last year covering almost 60,000 stores from 40,000. 

With the record pre-bookings, Samsung expects to grow in double digits in the premium segment this year on the back of strong pre-orders for the flagship Galaxy S23 series as well as other devices. 

Additionally, Samsung also confirmed that all Galaxy S23 series units sold in India will be manufactured at the brand’s Noida facility in the country. The local manufacturing of the flagship lineup will ensure that products will be available across all regions from the first day of the sale.

Yesterday Samsung held its annual February Unpacked event. It launched its flagship Samsung Galaxy S23 series. Alongside the new smartphones, the South Korean brand also unveiled the Galaxy Book 3 series. The lineup comprises the Galaxy Book 3 Pro, Book 3 Pro 360 and Book 3 Ultra. Now, the pricing of these laptops for the Indian market has been announced. 

The Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Pro starts at Rs 1,39,990 for the base variant and goes up to Rs 1,65,990 for the top model. The Galaxy Book 3 Pro 360 starts at Rs 1,63,990 and the top variant costs Rs 1,79,990. The Galaxy Book 3 Ultra carries a whooping price tag of Rs 2,81,990. Take a look at the table to check the pricing of different hardware configurations of the Book 3 series.

As a part of the launch offers, customers purchasing the Galaxy Book 3 Ultra and Pro series can avail a cashback of Rs 10,000 and Rs 8,000 respectively. Buyers pre-booking the Ultra model will be eligible for the Samsung M8 smart monitor at Rs 1,999. Customers opting for the Intel Core i7 variant of the Book 3 Pro series are eligible for benefits worth Rs 16,000 and upgrade their storage from 512GB to 1TB at no extra cost. And with the Core i5 variant, they will receive Galaxy Buds 2 at Rs 1,999. 

The Samsung Galaxy Book 3 series is offered in Graphite colours. Pre-booking of the Book 3 Ultra starts on February 14th whereas the Pro series is already up for reservations through the brand’s official website, leading online stores, and select retail locations. 

The entire Samsung Galaxy Book 3 series boasts a dynamic AMOLED 2x display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 3K resolution. The Book 3 Pro is offered in 14 and 16-inch display sizes whereas the Pro 360 and Ultra come in a 16-inch variant. The Pro 360 is a 2-in-1 convertible offering with touch and stylus support while the other two are clamshell laptops. The Galaxy Book 3 series boasts a premium look with a full aluminium chassis. The machines are equipped with AKG-tuned quad-speaker system and dual microphones. 

Under the hood, the Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Pro series is offered in 13th generation Intel Core i5 and i7 options coupled with Intel Iris Xe GPU. There is 16GB LPDDR5 RAM and up to 1TB SSD storage. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Book 3 Ultra houses up to Core i9 SoC coupled with GeForce RTX4070 GPU, 32GB RAM, and 1TB storage.

A new Samsung Experience Store has been opened at the center of New Delhi, India. The new facility was opened to the public on January 28 and has seen a massive influx of visitors since then.

The new Samsung Experience Store covers about 3,500 sq. ft. of space and is located at Connaught Place in the city. The facility is the largest premium experience store spread across two floors. It showcases Samsungs complete product lineup within different zones. These include connected living, smartphones, audio products, gaming, lifestyle screens, and wearables. The multi-device connectivity accomplished by the SmartThings app is also showcased at the Experience Store.

Samsung is offering several promotional materials to coincide with the opening of the new Experience Store in India. Five consumers among the first 500 will get a Galaxy Z Fold4 or a Galaxy Z Flip4 smartphone. The first 200 buyers spending above Rs. 10,000 ($) in the store will also get a gift.

Samsung says that the new experience store is the largest of its kind in North India and it offers the widest portfolio of Samsung products to its teeming customers. The store targets millennials, the Gen Z population with the best of its product suite. Samsung also says that the new store will offer a one-of-its-kind “phygital” experience through Store+. This is bound to further enhance the shopping experience of young customers in the subcontinent.

The new Samsung Experience Store will also offer Galaxy Workshops, live commerce activities, and a fully functional service Centre. The new store comes after Samsung upgraded its facility in Bengaluru by offering an improved technology experience and new zones. Samsung India continues to expand its reach and appeal to the very vibrant young population of India.

5G was launched in India earlier this month. While Airtel has rolled out services across eight Indian cities, its competitor Reliance Jio is set to roll out the latest generation cellular network services by Diwali this month. Prior to the launch of 5G, many smartphone OEMs had launched 5G-compatible devices. However, not all devices support the network out of the box and they require software updates. 

Earlier today, Cupertino-based Apple confirmed that it will enable 5G network on compatible iPhones by December this year. Now, its rival South Korean brand Samsung has officially revealed the timeline for the 5G rollout on its devices. The company aims to release a firmware update to enable 5G connectivity on its Galaxy smartphones by mid-November. This will enable users to experience faster 5G services on their compatible smartphones. 

Few Samsung phones are already 5G-ready meaning they won’t require a software update to access the cellular network. The list includes Galaxy S22 series, Z Flip 4, Z Fold 4, S21 FE, M33, A33 5G, and A53 5G. The rest of the 5G-compatible phones will require an update to enable the network on the device from Samsung’s side. 

Commenting on the 5G rollout timeline, Samsung spokesperson said “Samsung has pioneered 5G technology development since 2009 and took the leading role in standardizing 5G technology globally. In India, Samsung has the widest portfolio of 5G devices. We are working closely with our operator partners and are committed to rolling out OTA updates across all our 5G devices by mid-November 2022, enabling Indian consumers to experience 5G seamlessly.“

Samsung is gearing up to roll out the One UI 5.0 build very soon, which is based on the latest version of Android OS. But prior to the final build’s release, the company has announced that it will be rolling out the One UI 5.0 Beta for Galaxy S21 series in India.

The South Korean tech giant has just released the public beta for the One UI 5.0 build for the Galaxy S21 series of premium smartphones. So owners of these devices in India are eligible to take part in the beta program. For those unaware, the last gen flagship phones include the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and Galaxy S21 Ultra. So for those looking to experience Android 13 OS as soon as possible, the brand has began registration for the One UI 5.0 beta update by signing up for the program on the Samsung Members app.

Once the registration is complete, Galaxy S21 series users in India will receive the new One UI update notification soon after. Keep in mind that the beta update might also cause some applications to not function properly. So, it is also advised that you backup your smartphone’s data before making the update. With the new upgrade, Samsung has offered minor changes while introducing new One UI features in the new update.

These changes includes a new system UI color based on the wallpaper. Furthermore, the notifications shade is also revamped and is now more opaque too. Samsung has also introduced Optical Character Recognition (OCR) to the Gallery app, which can recognize text in images. This allows users to copy and paste it into other apps.

The Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2022 event is just around the corner. During this conference, the company will be announcing its highly anticipated next gen foldable smartphones, namely the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Galaxy Z Fold 4. But prior to any official announcements, a new leak has revealed key details regarding their launch in India.

The news arrives from a 91Mobiles report, which revealed the South Korean tech giant’s plans for the Indian market. The brand will launch the Galaxy Z Fold 4  model in three color options, including a Greygreen, Beige, and Phantom Black. On the other hand, the Galaxy Z Flip 4 model will be available in a Bore purple, Graphite, and Pink gold color options. However, the report claims that the region won’t see the launch of the Greygreen option.

Moving forward, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 model will be available for purchase in the region in two storage configurations, which includes the 12GB RAM + 256GB internal storage variant or the 12GB + 512GB version. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Flip 4 will be sold in two storage options as well, namely the 8GB + 128GB and 8GB + 256GB version. The report also reveals the sale date for both smartphones.

It claims that both models will be available for purchase starting from August 26. This means that it will launch around the month’s end despite the announcement being on August 10. For those unaware, pre-reservations can have early customers gain access to additional benefits and you can pre-reserve both models for a price of just 1,999 INR (roughly 25 US Dollars). Through this, one can be eligible for benefits worth 5,000 INR (roughly 63 US Dollars) after the delivery.

While the pricing for the Indian market has yet to be officially revealed, the company is believe to price the Galaxy Z Flip 4 around 1,080 Euros (roughly 1,108 US Dollars) for its base variant. Unfortunately, the pricing for the Galaxy Z Fold 4 model is still unknown at the moment. Talking about the smartphones itself, Galaxy Z Flip 4 will sport a 6.7 inch AMOLED 120Hz primary display and a 1.9 inch AMOLED secondary screen. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 will sport a 7.6 inch AMOLED 120Hz main display and a 6.2 inch external screen.

Both models are expected to feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC and will likely feature up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. The Galaxy Z Flip 4 is expected to be powered by a 4,400mAh battery pack that supports 25W fast charging while the Galaxy Z Fold 4 is also believed to feature the same battery parameters. The new Galaxy M series smartphone in question will likely be the Galaxy M13 5G. Samsung had launched the 4G variant of the handset back in May 2022, so its 5G enabled variant should be making its way to India as well. Recent reports had also hinted at the South Korean tech giant manufacturing the Galaxy M13 5G in India and we even reported on some leaked images that showcased its rear panel design.

Now, it appears that the brand will announced this device on 5th July 2022 at 12 pm IST. Unfortunately, the official teaser on Twitter did not mention the name of the smartphone, so there is still no official word regarding the Galaxy M13 5G launching next week. From what we know so far, the device will sport a 6.5 inch LCD panel that has a FHD+ resolution. Under the hood, it will be equipped with a MediaTek Dimensity 700 SoC that will be paired with up to 5GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.

Samsung is apparently planning on bringing the Galaxy A13 5G model to another market. We had recently reported on the smartphone launching in the European region, but now, it appears that the model will also be releasing in India as well.

For those unaware, the Galaxy A13 5G was first launched in the US back in December 2021. And recently, the same model was tipped to launch in Europe as it was spotted on the Google Play Console database. Now, MySmartPrice spotted the Indian variant of the smartphone that carried the model number SM-A136B on an official support page, which is the same as the Europe model.

In other words, the smartphone is likely planning on launching the Galaxy A13 5G in India soon. Talking about its specifications, the smartphone sports a 6.5 inch LCD panel that has a HD+ resolution, 90Hz refresh rate, and a waterdrop notch on the front. Meanwhile, the rear features a triple camera setup that includes a 50 megapixel primary sensor, a 2 megapixel macro camera, and a 2 megapixel depth lens. The front houses a 5 megapixel selfie shooter.

Under the hood, the smartphone is equipped with a MediaTek Dimensity 700 SoC that is paired with a Mali G57 GPU. A large 5,000mAh battery pack powers the device, which supports 15W fast charging. Samsung is gearing up to launch a new mid range smartphone. This new model is a part of the company’s Galaxy F series and is dubbed the Galaxy F13, which is set to launch in India soon.

The device’s design was revealed after it was spotted on the South Korean tech giant’s India support page. In other words, it also hints that the smartphone is set to launch in the region soon. Looking at this support page, we can see that the Galaxy F13 carries the model number SM-E135F/DS on the official India website. Apart from this model, the user manuals for the upcoming Galaxy SM-E135F and SM-M135F handsets were also spotted by MySmartPrice.

The upcoming Samsung Galaxy F13 will also be the successor to last year’s Galaxy F12 model. Previously, it was even spotted on popular benchmarking platform, GeekBench, which revealed some of its key specifications. Now, we have a first proper look at the smartphone. It features a waterdrop notch on the front while the rear features a vertically stacked triple camera setup on the top left corner. Notably, the smartphone houses a side mounted fingerprint scanner along with a headphone jack, and support for storage expansion via a MicroSD card slot.

Based on the GeekBench listing, the Galaxy F13 is equipped with an Exynos 850 SoC that is paired with 4GB of RAM. Furthermore, it will run on the Android 12 OS based OneUI 4.1 custom skin. Samsung has just launched a new color option for two of its mid range smartphones. So now, the Galaxy M53 5G and the Galaxy M33 5G is available in a new Emerald Brown color variant.

For those unaware, the South Korean tech giant had first announced the Galaxy M33 5G and the Galaxy M53 5G back in April 2022. During its initial launch, the Galaxy M33 was only available in Blue and Green color variants, while the Galaxy M53 was offered in a Deep Ocean Blue and Mystique Green versions. And now, the two handsets are available in a new Emerald Brown color option, although, its internal specifications and pricing still remains the same.

Samsung has just launched the Galaxy M53 5G in the Indian market. The smartphone is the latest entry in the company’s popular mid range M series, and is also the first model within the M family to feature a 108 megapixel camera. So let’s have a look.

Similar to its predecessor, the Galaxy M52, the Galaxy M53 also features an Infinity O display on the front. The latest iteration also has a flat screen on the front with a center aligned punch hole cutout for the selfie camera and rounded corners. However, unlike the previous generation, the rear camera module is now a square shape with a quad sensors, rather than the vertically stacked model on the Galaxy M52. Samsung Electronics has just released a new model of its top end Galaxy S22 Ultra flagship device in India. The most expensive version in the lineup will now be available in a new 1TB storage configuration option.

For those unaware, the South Korean tech giant had just recently launched its latest flagship Galaxy S22 series in India. This included the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22 Plus, and the the Galaxy S22 Ultra. However, the Ultra variant was only available in two storage options, namely 12GB of RAM paired with either 256GB or 512GB of internal storage. But now, the brand has released the Galaxy S22 Ultra with 12GB of RAM and a whopping 1TB of internal storage.

Apart from the notably bump in storage capacity, there is no other change in this particular model apart from its pricing. While the base Galaxy S22 Ultra with 256GB costs 109,999 INR (roughly 1,440 US Dollars) and the 512GB versions costs 118,999 INR (roughly 1,560 US Dollars), the new 1TB option is priced at 134,999 INR (roughly 1,770 US Dollars). Samsung has seen a positive reception with its latest flagship series of smartphones. Recently, the company launched its Galaxy S22 series in India as well, and has apparently recorded sales worth 1,500 crore INR (roughly 196 million US Dollars) in the country.

For those unaware, the South Korean tech giant launched the Galaxy S22 series of flagship handsets about half a month ago. In recent times, the brand has been facing stiff competition in the premium smartphone segment, against brands like Apple. But it seems like its latest high end offering has seen robust performance this time around. At the moment, the company’s focusing on Galaxy S and Fold series of smartphones, which also contribute around 20 percent of its overall India phone sales.

The Galaxy S22 series starts from 71,000 INR (roughly 930 US Dollars) and tops out at 110,000 INR (roughly 1,440 US Dollars). It was first announced in the region back in February 2022, with devices being delivered on March 11. Notably, the Galaxy S22 Ultra Unboxing event with customers also set a Guinness World Record as well.

Raju Pullan, senior VP and head of sales and retail for Samsung stated that the demand for the flagship devices is strong and the company is confident in meeting delivery targets despite the ongoing chip shortage. He further added that “Overall sales for Samsung had grown by double digit in 2021, and we expect a stronger momentum through this year. We expect to be ahead of the broader market due to a strong traction for premium devices such as the Fold and the Galaxy S Series.”

Samsung is gearing up to launch the Galaxy S21 FE in India soon. But prior to its release, the pricing of the upcoming smartphone has been tipped. The news also arrives as the device’s pre-bookings start in the region.

The pricing for the Indian market was revealed by known tipster Yogesh Brar on Twitter. Reportedly, the South Korean tech giant will be launching the Galaxy S21 FE in India for a price tag of 52,000 INR (roughly 700 US Dollars). He further added that the price tag might fall to 48,000 INR or 49,000 INR (roughly 645 or 660 US Dollars) through discounts. Notably, a listing page on Amazon India has also recently gone live, which showcases the design and specs of the device and hints at its imminent launch.

The listing arrives just a day after the handset was launched in the UK. For those unaware, the Galaxy S21 FE sports a 6.4 inch full-HD+ Dynamic AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, the Indian variant of the device is expected to feature the Exynos 2100 SoC. The news arrives from known tipster Tron, who stated that the upcoming Galaxy S22 series Indian variant will skip the next gen Exynos in favor of the Snapdragon SoC for the first time ever in the region.

For those unaware, Samsung is working with AMD for its upcoming Exynos 2200 SoC, which features Team Red’s Radeon graphics. This chip is highly anticipated as it is expected to offer better graphics prowess along with other improvements in overall performance as well over the previous generation. Samsung has just launched a new charger in India. The company’s 35W Power Adapter Duo fast charger has just launched in the region with two ports, which enable you to charge two devices at the same time with its universal compatibility.

The new fast charger from the South Korean tech giant offers a USB Type C PD (power delivery) 3.0 Max 35W with Super Fast Charging along with a USB Type A PD 3.0 Max 25W charging as well. Through these ports, the charger supports a number of different products, including smartphones, tablets, laptops, wireless chargers, smartwatches, and more. Through its USB-C port, users can expect to charge two devices together with its USB C and A ports at 20W and 15W respectively.

As of right now, the Samsung 35W Power Adapter Duo fast charger is available in India through the company’s many retail stores, authorized resellers, major e-commerce platforms, and even its official Indian websites as well. Global tech powerhouse Samsung is redistributing its production capacity across its seven manufacturing sites. The moves are part of plans by the company to ensure that no facility exceeds more than 30% of the overall production numbers. The move by Samsung will see its two manufacturing plants in Vietnam scale down its current production of about 182 million units to 163 million units annually.

Samsung’s move is part of the company’s long-term aim of risk redistribution. The expansion of Samsung’s India production facility will see it producing 108 million smartphones by 2026, although the expansion trajectory could see the Indian plant becoming Samsung’s largest by 2024.

Samsung has manufacturing facilities in India, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Brazil, outside its home market of Korea. The capacities of the production facilities will probably remain unchanged this year, while the changes will start to be noticed from 2022. The focus seems to be on the huge customer base offered by the Indian market. The scaling up of Samsung’s operations in India will help it to shore up its numbers in the subcontinent. The production redistribution will see India accounting for 25% of the total production in 2026, while Vietnam will have 20%, Indonesia, 14%, and Brazil, 6%.

Samsung continues to firm up its operations and has factored some degree of uncertainty into its production, as there is room for an additional 20% of units produced as a reserve in the situation of a surge in demand beyond the projected numbers.

Samsung has seen strong growth in its consumer electronics sales over the past 3 months despite losing out to Chinese companies in the smartphone market. The Korean company now aims to grow by over 65 percent this festive season with the sales of its premium category of TVs and digital appliances.

Raju Pullan, Senior Vice President, Consumer Electronics Business, Samsung India revealed that they’ve seen a strong uptick during the Onam and Ganesh Chaturthi festivals already. This, combined with the increased demand from consumers looking to equip their homes with the latest tech following COVID unlocks, has led to a boom in business.

The growth has especially been in the television sector where the company is almost a consumer favorite, seeing 63 percent growth with QLED TVs. But that’s not all. Sales of refrigerators and washing machines have seen a growth of 100 percent and 50 percent respectively, in the month of August alone.

“We planned for festive season way in advance to stay ahead of the curve and ensured that we are well stocked up and expanded our premium portfolio with the launch of Neo QLED TV, The Frame TV, French Door Refrigerators, AI Ecobubble washing machines, WindFree ACs, etc., to cater to festive demand,” Pullan said.

Pullan went on to say that, unlike last year, when the brand’s growth was mainly limited to tier-2 markets, this year’s growth has been spread throughout metro cities as well as tier 2 and 3 markets.

Samsung has already announced a ‘Big TV Festival’ with offers to encourage further growth for its 55-inch and above TV offerings. This is paired with ‘Home Like Never Before’ offers for washing machines, refrigerators, microwaves, and ACs.

Last but not the least, Samsung is offering exciting deals through the ongoing Amazon’s Great Indian Festival and Flipkart’s The Big Billion Days.

Regardless, Samsung’s ability to achieve the coveted 65 percent growth rate will be tested during the next two months. Underlying supply issues are the biggest setback that can hamper the company’s goals and are something that need to be addressed.

Talking about the design of the handset, known tipster Snoopy shared images of a white variant of the model and we can observe a textured rear panel and a punch hole display on the front.

Earlier today (9th June 2021), Samsung launched The Frame TV 2021 in India. The new TV arrives with 4K QLED displays and is available in four different sizes, with the largest being 65 inch.

The South Korean tech giant’s The Frame TV 2021 is its latest entry in its premium offerings in the region. Talking about the specs and features of the new TV, it sports a 4K display on the front that it claims offers 100 percent color volume and supports Quantum Dot technology. Under the hood, The Frame TV houses a Quantum Processor 4K chip that brings artificial intelligence powered upscaling functions and auto optimizing SpaceFit Sound settings as well.

Interestingly, Samsung has even preloaded the TV with over 1,400 art pieces that can be displayed on the TV when it is not in use. In a move to expand its smartphone presence in the Indian market, Samsung has began the production of OLED panels as of this month at its Noida plant in India through its Display unit.

According to a TechRadar report, the South Korean tech giant is starting the production of OLED panels for its smartphones in the Noida factory. As per a spokesperson from the company’s display unit, “Some of the production lines starts to manufacture” in the plant in India. Furthermore, the brand is also planning on soon start the production of making IT display panels as well at this factory.

Notably, this would mark the first time the company has made any display manufacturing is being done in India. This is also in line with the nation’s plans on becoming a global hub for smartphone and related technologies manufacturing. The Samsung Display’s Noida plant will supply components to its the brand’s smartphone unit, for the Galaxy range of handsets that will be sold within the region. For those unaware, the Indian smartphone market is one of the largest in the world and is also a key region for the company.

Thus, sourcing and assembling its devices within the country would also help lower its costs by avoiding import duties by shipping components from overseas. With this move, the company is set to invest $705.75 million in the project and also hopes to create about 1,300 jobs in the region. Recently, the smartphone maker even saw a breakthrough with its OLED panels, which now has lowered power consumption by automatically adjusting the display’s refresh rate. This can save power by about 22 percent compared to existing smartphone displays.

A report by Economic Times says that Samsung Display has started making smartphone display panels in India. The company, which is a Display arm of Samsung, already makes more than 70% of displays for TVs, mobiles, tablets, etc. in Asian countries like China, Vietnam, and South Korea.

Citing people familiar with the matter, the report says that South Korean giant has started making smartphone display panels at a facility in Noida, UP, from April 2021. This move is said to offer jobs to 500 people directly and to about 1,300 people indirectly.

This comes months after reports of India offering financial incentives to Samsung for setting up a Display factory in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. Indian govt has been taking a lot of measures to ensure the country remains a Manufacturing hub of the world.

The South Asian country recently approved a $1.02 billion incentive to boost local manufacturing and reports say that it is also mulling chip makers to start local production. Anyway, the Samsung Display has invested about 4,825 Crores INR(~$653 million) for the relocation of mobile and IT display production units from China to India.

Samsung will get about 250 Crores INR from the state UP govt as financial provisioning for this project for 5 years and about 460 crores INR from the Centre’s Scheme for Promotion of Manufacturing Electronic Components and Semiconductors.

Speaking of production, Samsung is said to expand this display making to other peripherals like monitors and other IT products in the future. This move is a step forward in boosting local production, make in India initiative, and benefit from the PLI scheme too.

The company is said to be the only one of the 15 approved handset makers to have met the targets for the PLI scheme 2020-2021. Apparently, the target was making mobile phones with an invoice value of INR 15,000 (around $200).
