The new ISOCELL Bright GW1 is a 64 MP sensor that offers the highest resolution so far for a smartphone camera sensor. On the other hand, the new ISOCELL Bright GM2 48 MP sensor is the successor of last year’s ISOCELL Bright GM1 48 MP sensor.

Both sensors come with the company’s proprietary ISOCELL Plus technology that reduces light leakage, as well as Tetracell technology which uses four pixels like one to allow for better photos in dark environments.

The GW1 sensor comes with pixel-merging Tetracell technology and remosaic algorithm that offers 16 MP images in low-light environments where four pixels are merged to work as one to increase light sensitivity.

It also supports real-time high dynamic range (HDR) of up to 100-decibels (dB) that provides richer hues. The sensor is equipped with a Dual Conversion Gain (DCG) that converts the received light into an electric signal. This allows the sensor to optimize its full well capacity (FWC), utilizing the collected light more efficiently especially in bright environments.

The Samsung ISOCELL Bright GW1 and GM2 are currently sampling to OEMs and are expected to enter mass production in the second half of this year. Can we see this in Galaxy Note10? We should know in the coming months.

The GW1 also supports 480fps Full HD slow motion filming and will have High Dynamic Range. Both the sensors — GW1 and GM2 come with support for Super PD which is a high-performance phase detection auto-focus technology.
