It’s a known fact that these batteries degrade over time when they are charged up to 100% regularly. Hence, OEMs offer software solutions to slow the degradation. Samsung only used to offer such a feature on its tablets. With the launch of the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-z-flip3-5g/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Galaxy Z Flip3</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> and the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-z-fold3-5g/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Galaxy Z Fold3</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">, this feature has now made its way to its smartphones as well.</span></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-409221 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-Phantom-Black-Galaxy-Z-Flip-3-Cream.jpg?x10805" alt="Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Phantom Black Galaxy Z Flip 3 Cream" width="1000" height="667" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-Phantom-Black-Galaxy-Z-Flip-3-Cream.jpg 1000w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-Phantom-Black-Galaxy-Z-Flip-3-Cream-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-Phantom-Black-Galaxy-Z-Flip-3-Cream-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-Phantom-Black-Galaxy-Z-Flip-3-Cream-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-Phantom-Black-Galaxy-Z-Flip-3-Cream-630x420.jpg 630w" sizes="(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px" /></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">The </span><b>Device Care</b><span style="font-weight: 400"> application on the Samsung Galaxy products is responsible for battery, storage, memory, security, and mobile data usage-related settings. This app is equivalent to the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/MIUI/"><span style="font-weight: 400">MIUI</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> Security application on the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Xiaomi/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Xiaomi</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> group devices.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Under the Battery section, the app has a feature called </span><b>Protect Battery</b><span style="font-weight: 400"> on the Galaxy Tab series of tablets. Turning this on will limit the charging to 85%. It can help in extending the battery life over the years.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">As per </span><a href="https://www.sammobile.com/news/galaxy-z-fold-3-and-z-flip-3-have-tablet-like-battery-protection-feature/"><i><span style="font-weight: 400">SamMobile</span></i></a><span style="font-weight: 400">, this ‘Protect Battery’ feature is now also available on the new Galaxy Z Flip3 and the Galaxy Z Fold3. They are the first smartphones from </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Samsung/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Samsung</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> to come with this feature.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">At present, it is not known whether this feature will be made available for other Galaxy smartphones. Because it did not get added on the Galaxy S21 series with the latest </span><a href="https://www.sammobile.com/news/galaxy-s21-gets-one-ui-3-1-1-firmware-update-in-secret/"><span style="font-weight: 400">so-called One UI 3.1.1 update</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">. Hopefully, Samsung brings ‘Protect Battery’ to its phones as most other OEMs offer a similar feature on their handsets. </span></p>
