Samsung TV Plus is one of the most popular streaming applications, particularly for Samsung TVs. The streaming application allows users to access hundreds of free channels through a single app. The app was made exclusive only to Samsung TV users. However, the app may soon be available to other manufacturers’ TV too. A new piece of information making rounds of the internet has claimed so. This could be great news for Smart TV users as they can access the Samsung TV Plus and its services in their existing Smart TVs.

The company launched Samsung TV Plus in 2015. It’s a free, ad-supported streaming (FAST) service that comes standard with newer Samsung TVs. Like with a typical TV service, the service lets users browse a selection of channels. With the addition of popular shows like Top Gear, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, NCIS, and Chicago Fire in August, Samsung TV Plus offers a very impressive lineup of content for a free app.

The service also includes a selection of regional and national news channels in addition to channels created by Samsung, like Ride or Drive and The Movie Hub. Along with 220 stations in the US, TV Plus currently offers about 1,600 channels spread over 24 nations. The company is presently debating whether to grant licences to other manufacturers so they can sell the services alongside the TVs. However, there is currently no final words on the topic and we really do not know if this is going to be possible in the coming days or not.

Other TV makers, such as TCL, LG, and Vizio, have their own free streaming services that they compete with, as do other services that aren’t tied to particular TVs, such as Amazon Freevee, Roku, Fox’s Tubi, NBC’s Peacock, and Paramount’s Pluto TV. Although it appears that Samsung also wants to make its TV Plus service a free-floating software, it’s not clear whether other manufacturers will want the app on their TVs or even if the programme will be popular. Let’s wait till any official confirmation comes out before commenting on anything.

We’re interested to see if the other companies will actually use Samsung TV Plus once it becomes available to them, or if they’ll just continue with their own streaming services or none at all. That was all we had at the time. Thank you for reading the article all the way through. Please use the comment area below to share your thoughts about this.

In a press release, the company said that all the Samsung Smart TV models (from 2017) will support the Samsung TV Plus service. For the unware, this is a service that works on the internet connection.

It basically allows you to stream free TV content, with ad-supported select live channels and on-demand videos. The best part is you don’t need a separate cable TV connection, a subscription, or any set-top box. Since everything happens with the help of an internet connection, the Samsung TV Plus app serves as a one-stop-shop.

Speaking of which, Samsung says that the support of Samsung TV Plus will also be extended to the Galaxy Smartphones and Tablets. While the exact date is known, the company quotes a rough April 2021 which should be somewhere before the month ends.

After rolling out the service exclusively to the Samsung Smart TVs, the company brought them to the mobile devices last year. While the initial list included select devices, the press release says that in India, most devices running O OS(Android Oreo– internal codename) or higher should support it.

With the rollout for India, the South Korean giant says that Samsung TV Plus is currently supported in about 14 countries around the world. They are the US, India, Canada, Korea, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, UK, Italy, France, Spain, Australia, Brazil, and Mexico.

Anyway, if you own a Samsung Smart TV that is not older than 2017, you can start using the service right away. Users can download the Samsung TV Plus app on either the Samsung Galaxy Store / Google Play Store.

This service will initially include content from 27 global and local channels. However, Samsung says that it will add more Channels and content in the next few months.

Samsung is now rolling out the free TV service to all three Samsung foldable devices which include the Galaxy Fold, Galaxy Z Fold 2, and the Galaxy Z Flip. The service will also roll out to the Galaxy S9, Galaxy Note 9, and some Galaxy A series handsets. An explicit list of supported devices is yet to be posted by Samsung on its website but the Galaxy Store and Google Play Store listings of the Samsung TV Plus app shows that the Galaxy A51, Galaxy A51 5G, and Galaxy A71 5G are the three Galaxy A series phones gaining support for the app. Also among the supported devices is the rugged Galaxy Xcover Pro.

Samsung TV Plus has already been made available to the latest Galaxy S series models including the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S10, Galaxy Note 20, and Galaxy Note 10 series devices earlier in September. The latest addition expands the free TV Plus service to most of the galaxy flagship and into the mid-range segment.

Samsung TV Plus is a free TV service which gives users access to thousands of shows ranging from news to documentarie, entertainment and others across a selection of over 150 channels. The Samsung TV Plus smartphone app is currently only available in the US. You can download the app from the Galaxy Store or the Google Play Store.

The service is available for free to the users in the United States and Canada and offers more than 100 TV channels over the internet. However, it seems that the company is now planning to expand it and roll it out to smartphone users.

Samsung TV Plus free service available on Samsung Smart TVs

According to the report, the Samsung TV Plus free streaming service could be made available to smartphone users through a mobile application and is likely to be exclusive to Galaxy lineup from the South Korean giant. This makes sense given that the service for the TVs is also limited to the company’s own smart TVs.

The report goes on to add that the Samsung TV Plus for mobile will come with the same functionality as the service offers on Samsung Smart TVs. Users will be able to watch Live TV channels as well as access Video-on-demand (VOD) content.

It offers channels including beIN SPORTS EXTRA, Bon Appétit, CBS News, Crime 360, fubo Sports Network, Fuse, Kitchen Nightmares, Lively Place, Outside TV+, Reelz, Tastemade, The Design Network, VEVO, Yahoo Finance, and many more.
The Samsung TV Plus service is currently free for the users of Samsung smart TVs and is supported through advertisements and the company is expected to do the same with the upcoming mobile service.

However, do note that there’s no official confirmation regarding this from Samsung. But this seems like a good timing for Samsung to launch the service given that people are stuck at home amid lockdown due to COVID-19 and are more likely to adopt the new free streaming service as media consumption is on the rise.
