<p><a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/samsung">Samsung</a>’s latest Galaxy S23 series didn’t just debut with new hardware but also with brand-new software. The trio runs Android 13-based One UI 5.1 out of the box, which is an iterative update after <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/one-ui-5.0">One UI 5.0</a>. The software brings several changes in terms of design, functionality, and performance. Luckily, the OS won’t be limited to the latest S series and will also make it to the older Galaxy models. Today, Samsung officially announced the global rollout of One UI 5.1 for its existing devices. Here are the details.</p>

In other words, the smartphones eligible for the latest update are the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, Galaxy S22 Ultra, Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, Galaxy S21 Ultra, Galaxy S21 FE, Galaxy Z Fold4, Galaxy Z Flip4, Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, Galaxy S20 Ultra, Galaxy S20 FE 4G, Galaxy S20 FE 5G, Galaxy Z Fold3 and Galaxy Z Flip3.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="512" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Samsung-Galaxy-S23-Series-1024x512.jpg?x10805" alt="Samsung-Galaxy-S23-Series" class="wp-image-515711" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Samsung-Galaxy-S23-Series-1024x512.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Samsung-Galaxy-S23-Series-300x150.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Samsung-Galaxy-S23-Series-768x384.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Samsung-Galaxy-S23-Series-696x348.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Samsung-Galaxy-S23-Series-1068x534.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Samsung-Galaxy-S23-Series-840x420.jpg 840w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Samsung-Galaxy-S23-Series.jpg 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>Most of the above-mentioned devices have already started to receive the update in several regions. The brand says the One UI 5.1 update will be seeded to some Galaxy devices, including the Galaxy Z Fold3 and Z Flip3 in the coming weeks. In addition, the firm noted that the availability of functions may vary depending on the device model.</p>

<p>As mentioned, One UI 5.1 brings many new features, including Expert RAW, enhanced Photo Remaster, Multi Control, independent wallpapers for Modes and Routines, and new lock screen customization options. The Gallery app now has new search features allowing you to find people by tapping their faces. In addition, the Smart Suggestions widget gets the ability to recommend Spotify tracks and playlists.</p>

<p>A new update has rolled in for the <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/samsung">Samsung</a> stock Calendar app and it brings a bunch of new features. The new features include improved drawing support, shared calendar management, as well as improved dark/light mode settings on Galaxy smartphones and tablets. The new Samsung Calendar app was first announced on the Samsung Community forum in South Korea.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="785" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Samsung-Calendar-3-1024x785.png?x10805" alt="Samsung" class="wp-image-514607" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Samsung-Calendar-3-1024x785.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Samsung-Calendar-3-300x230.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Samsung-Calendar-3-768x589.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Samsung-Calendar-3-696x534.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Samsung-Calendar-3-1068x819.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Samsung-Calendar-3-548x420.png 548w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Samsung-Calendar-3-80x60.png 80w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Samsung-Calendar-3.png 1476w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>With the new update, you can draw any shape on the calendar and it will be converted to a proper shape. This is achieved when you long-press the drawing. Similar functionality is available in Samsung Notes. Users can set the dark/ light mode independently of the phone’s UI settings, using the Calendar app. It also displays your work profile calendar entries on a paired Galaxy Watch. It is unclear whether both Wear OS and Tizen smartwatches have such support.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="937" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Samsung-Calendar-1024x937.png?x10805" alt="Samsung Calendar app" class="wp-image-514588" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Samsung-Calendar-1024x937.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Samsung-Calendar-300x275.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Samsung-Calendar-768x703.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Samsung-Calendar-696x637.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Samsung-Calendar-1068x977.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Samsung-Calendar-459x420.png 459w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Samsung-Calendar.png 1224w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>The Calendar app can switch between dark and light modes depending on the smartphone’s theme. The Samsung Calendar update also allows users to create shared calendars which can be shared via simple links. The shared calendar option can be activated via Calendar Settings, then Calendar Management, and then, Create Shared Calendar. The user can edit permissions for existing shared calendars.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="975" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Samsung-Calendar-2-1024x975.png?x10805" alt="Samsung Calendar app" class="wp-image-514587" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Samsung-Calendar-2-1024x975.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Samsung-Calendar-2-300x286.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Samsung-Calendar-2-768x731.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Samsung-Calendar-2-696x663.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Samsung-Calendar-2-1068x1017.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Samsung-Calendar-2-441x420.png 441w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Samsung-Calendar-2.png 1178w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>The update will roll out first in Samsung’s home market of South Korea. Thereafter, other markets will get the Samsung Calendar update. There are however no timelines for the rollout of the new update.</p>
