Samsung US offering attractive discounts on Galaxy Z Fold 4, Flip 4 & S22 Ultra

Last month, Samsung launched the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Flip 4 devices in the market. Now, the brand is offering some attractive offers for US customers looking to get their hands on a foldable.

US customers can save $200 on the Fold and $100 on the Flip by shopping from Amazon.com. This deal is valid till September 18th. Purchasing the devices from Samsung’s online store will get you a memory upgrade, meaning that for $1,599, customers can get their hands on a Fold 4 with 512GB storage. The Galaxy S22 Ultra is also available at a discount of $150, and also has a trade-in option with a maximum discount value of $850.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4, Flip 4 specs

The Galaxy Z Fold 4 has 6.2-inch exterior display and 7.6-inches interior display panels. The outer display is an HD+ (2316 x 904p) AMOLED, while the inside features a QXGA+ (2176 x 1812p) Dynamic AMOLED panel.

It features a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC paired with up to 12GB RAM LPDDR5 RAM, and up to 1TB UFS 3.1 internal storage. It also has a 4,400 mAh battery with 25W fast charging. As for optics, it has a 50-megapixel main camera with OIS and EIS support, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 12-megapixel telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom support. The device also offers a 30x digital zoom, which Samsung calls the “Space Zoom”. The front side comes with a 10-megapixel unit.

The Galaxy Z Flip 4, on the other hand, offers a 6.7-inch FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate. It also has an outer display, which is a 1.9-inch Super AMOLED panel.

It also runs on the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset and is offered with 8GB of RAM and up to 512GB storage. It has a 3700mAh battery and 25W wired charging, as well as Fast Wireless Charging 2.0 and reverse wireless charging. As for optics, the phone brings a 12-megapixel main sensor with OIS and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide sensor. Up front, we get a 10-megapixel camera for video calls and selfies.

Samsung is offering a $50 screen repair service to its phone owners in the US

Samsung is encouraging Galaxy smartphone owners in the United States to repair their smartphone screens for $50. The new program is available in all the 50 states of the federation and Washington DC. The discounted repair program will last till June 27.

The details of the Galaxy smartphones repair service include the list of eligible devices. The list of Galaxy smartphones that qualify for the cracked display replacement includes Galaxy S9 or newer, Galaxy Note 9 or newer, and any Galaxy A. Users can only be eligible for the service when they mail in the faulty device directly to Samsung’s repair centers. Repair partner centers like BestBuy and UBreakFix are not eligible for the service.

None of Samsung’s latest foldable offerings are eligible for the screen repair service. In addition, the Galaxy S20FE and S21FE are also excluded from the service. Customers must have a Samsung account and only one device per customer is allowed. The repair will only cover a damaged display and display glass. It does not cover damage to other components of the eligible smartphones. Another condition is that the area around the display and the frame bezel must not be bent or have dents and/or deep scratches.

Eligible owners are expected to enjoy the Samsung repair service while supplies last. Samsung says it may discontinue the discount service without notice. The request can be accessed from Samsung’s US official website.

Samsung Galaxy Book Flex2 Alpha quietly launched in the US for $849

Samsung has seen a flurry of activities this month with the release of a range of premium and budget products across several segments of its businesses. Just yesterday, the company announced the Galaxy Book, Book Pro, Book Pro 360, and Galaxy Book Odyssey. The Samsung Galaxy Book Flex2 Alpha notebook was apparently quietly released as well and it is presently up for pre-order in the US for $849.

Just like the Galaxy Book Pro and Pro 360, the Book Flex2 Alpha also comes in two display sizes – 13.3-inch and 15.6-inch models. The Book Flex2 Alpha is powered by Intel’s Core i5 or Core i7 11th generation processor and offers a lot of exciting functionalities and features.

The base 13.3-inch model is available for pre-order at $849 and boasts 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage, while the 15.6-inch model has 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. Samsung is yet to release any information about the price of the 15.6-inch model at this time, but the first set of deliveries will start shipping by May 17.

In terms of the features, the screen of the Galaxy Book Flex2 Alpha can rotate a full 360 degrees. It utilizes a QLED panel and the laptop offers up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage for the 15.6-inch model. The notebook also comes preloaded with lots of impressive packages including Samsung Gallery, Notes, Recovery, Dex, Flow, and a few others that bear the imprimatur of the Samsung touch of excellence.

The Galaxy Book Flex2 Alpha also comes with substantial battery life, as its 54W battery is capable of providing more than 18 hours of power. It equally supports 40W fast charging. For the interface, there is HDMI, USB-C, and USB-A 3.2 ports on the sides of the gadget, as well as a MicroSD slot and headphone jack.

Samsung to erect a $17 billion chip plant in the US, located in Austin, Texas

Global brand Samsung Electronics is considering Austin, Texas, as one of the sites for a new $17 billion chip plant that could create up to 1,800 jobs. This is according to documents filed with Texas state authorities. With the proposal, Samsung is seeking combined tax breaks of $805.5 million spread over 20 years from Travis County and the city of Austin, according to the papers filed.

Samsung said in its filings that if Austin is selected, the company would have begun construction work on the site by the middle of the year and that the plant will begin operations by Q3 of 2023.

Samsung says the project is highly competitive, and the company is looking at alternative locations both in the US and South Korea. Some other sites in the US include Arizona and New York. The company further states that it is taking into account access to talent, chip ecosystem, and speed to market in its evaluation of the various sites.

Samsung semiconductor arm is a supplier of chips to some industry big hitters like Tesla, Qualcomm, and Nvidia. The filings show that the new chip manufacturing plant will produce “advanced logic devices,” which could mean that it would be producing the smallest, fastest kinds of computing chips.

Samsung has also confirmed that it would be expanding the capacity of its existing chip plant in Austin although there has been no definitive statement from the company on how the expansion process will run.

The papers show that the project would involve the construction of a 7 million square feet (650,000 square meters) facility on a 640-acre (259-hectare) site that the company already owns.

Political considerations may also be factored into the final decision by Samsung, as U.S. Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer, has encouraged Samsung to build a factory in his home state of New York, pledging to work to secure federal incentives for the facility, which he felt was very important for the US economy.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Briefly Appears On Official US Web Store

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 will be unveiled on Wednesday, August 23. Just a few days before the launch, it appeared on Samsung’s US web store with the same image we saw in the recently leaked renders.

It has been pulled off the site already but a screenshot of the page was saved. The image shows the Note 8 in black but without a price tag. Those who viewed the page before it was pulled down say the black variant was the only one listed. It could mean that only that variant will be available for purchase at first. It could also be that the other color variants had not just been added as at that time.

The Galaxy Note 8 will come in Midnight Black, Maple Gold, Orchid Gray and Deep Sea Blue.

The page doesn’t list the full spec details but mentions a few features such as the S-Pen, an infinity display, and Bixby Assistant. Storage is also listed as 64GB.

The rest of the specs are things we already know. It will have a 6.4-inch display, dual rear cameras in the 12MP + 13MP configuration, an 8MP front camera and 4GB of RAM. There will be an Exynos 8895 variant as well as a Snapdragon 835 model and both will draw power from a 3,300mAh battery.
