OnePlus may not be releasing the OnePlus 5T Star Wars limited edition in China but you can purchase the Sandstone White and Lava Red variants on the official site tomorrow.

While both variants lack any Star Wars branding, both colors can be attributed to the popular franchise. The OnePlus 5T Lava Red does share the same shade as that of the Elite Praetorian Guards of Supreme Leader Snoke in The last Jedi. The OnePlus 5T Sandstone White on the other hand gives off a Stormtrooper vibe.

Both variants will go on sale tomorrow priced at ¥3499 (~$539) on Jingdong and OnePlus.cn at 10:00 AM local time.

The OnePlus 5T Sandstone White and Lava Red both have 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The rest of their specs are the same as the 6GB + 64GB Midnight Black variant.

There is a 6.01” FHD+ AMOLED display, a Snapdragon 835 processor, and a 3300mAh battery. Front camera is a f/2.0 16MP sensor and there is a 16MP + 20MP dual camera combo on the rear.

OnePlus has taken to twitter again today, not to tease us but to officially announce the Sandstone White OnePlus 5T. The tweet includes a 40-second video that shows the phone in all its glory.

Like we reported earlier today, the Sandstone White variant shares a similar look to the Star Wars limited edition variant sans the Star Wars logo.

The OnePlus 5T will go on sale on Tuesday January 9 starting at $499 in the US; CA$659 in Canada; £449 in the UK; and €499 in the rest of Europe. Sales will commence at 10:00 AM local time.

Seeing the price, it does appear as if OnePlus will be offering the new color variant in both the 6+64GB and 8+128GB variants. Sadly, that is not the case. Upon further digging, the new variant will only be made available in 8GB RAM+128GB ROM. We do hope it is later available in the 64GB variant.

The OnePlus 2 was the last OnePlus phone to feature a sandstone back. Other models feature an aluminium rear but OnePlus made sandstone cases for them. Fans of the design will be excited to see the return of the design.

The Sandstone White variant of the OnePlus 5T isn’t due for launch until tomorrow but Chinese retailer, JD.com already had it listed on its site. The new color variant was first teased in a video last week before an official launch poster was released a few days ago.

According to the JD.com listing, the Sandstone OnePlus 5T shares a similar design to the OnePlus 5T Star Wars Edition. The only visual difference is the lack of the Star Wars engraving on the lower back. The OnePlus logo and the alert slider have been kept black and red respectively.

It appears the new color variant will be limited to the 8GB RAM + 128GB model. It will sell for the same ¥3499 (~$539) price as the Lava Red variant and Midnight Black variant of the same configuration.

The specs of the phone remain the same as other variants. You get a 6.01” FHD+ optic AMOLED display with Gorilla Glass 5. There is a Snapdragon 845 processor under the hood, dual rear cameras (16MP + 20MP), and a 16MP front facing camera. It also has a rear mounted fingerprint scanner and a 3300mAh battery.

The official OnePlus weibo account has released a poster announcing a launch for Friday, 5th of January. The poster has hints all over it that point at a Sandstone White version of the OnePlus 5T.

A few days ago, there was a OnePlus video uploaded online that had random people feel the texture of an unknown item inside a box. Quite a number of people who participated in the experiment mentioned the words “sand” and “stone” when asked to describe the texture. One of the participants even said “it feels like the original one”. At the end of the video, OnePlus said the mystery would be unboxed in January 2018.

The new poster drops more hints at the product being a Sandstone version of the OnePlus 5T. First, the background of the poster is sort of grainy like sandstone. There is also a text at the bottom that translates into “classic reproduced”.

OnePlus fans will remember that one of the colors the OnePlus One launched in was Sandstone Black. The OnePlus 2 was the last phone to feature the much loved textured back. But come Friday, we will see it return to the OnePlus 5T but in a new white shade.

As it stands, this will be available in China first, but we hope it will make it to other countries later.
