<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/samsung/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Samsung </a>has expanded its self repair program to include new devices on its supported list. Now, the company&#8217;s 2022 flagship <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/samsung-galaxy-s22-series/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Galaxy S22 series </a>and a certain models of the Galaxy Book have been added to this program.</p>

<p>For those unaware, the South Korean tech giant had started a self repair initiative that it had created by joining hands with iFixit, which provides the tools and guides online for those that wish to conduct repairs on their own. So now, one can order repair kits for the 15 inch models of the Galaxy Book Pro and even the Galaxy Book Pro 360 variant. The list of supported PC repairs includes the display, battery, touchpad, case (both front and rear), power key with fingerprint reader, and rubber foot.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large is-resized"><img loading="lazy" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/ked202202100001.1076x.0-1024x721.jpg?x23692" alt="Samsung" class="wp-image-509255" width="645" height="453" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/ked202202100001.1076x.0-1024x721.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/ked202202100001.1076x.0-300x211.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/ked202202100001.1076x.0-768x541.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/ked202202100001.1076x.0-696x490.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/ked202202100001.1076x.0-1068x752.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/ked202202100001.1076x.0-596x420.jpg 596w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/ked202202100001.1076x.0-100x70.jpg 100w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/ked202202100001.1076x.0.jpg 1076w" sizes="(max-width: 645px) 100vw, 645px" /></figure></div>

<p>Apart from this, the major addition to this self repair program is undoubtedly the Galaxy S22 series. Owners of the 2022 flagship Galaxy phones can now order repair kits for the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and even their Galaxy S22 Ultra models. These repair kits will help customers replace display assemblies, rear glass, and charging ports on your smartphones. With this updated list, the Galaxy S22 lineup joins its predecessors like the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S21, and even the Galaxy Tab S7+.</p>

<p>Furthermore, the new kits still include a free return label to help customers send used parts to Samsung for recycling. All of these are kits are already available as of earlier this week. If this program seems familiar, it is likely because of Apple also offering a similar initiative that allows its customers to perform repairs at home through self repair kits.</p>

<p>A new trademark application has been filed by <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tags/samsung">Samsung</a> with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). The company has reportedly filed the trademark for something called &#8220;Self-repair assist&#8221;. The following news has been brought to light by <em><a href="https://www.sammobile.com/news/samsung-may-release-self-repair-assistant-mobile-app-for-diyers/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">SamMobile</a>. </em>The icon for the application is also visible in the filed trademark. The app&#8217;s icon shows a cogwheel and a wrench with a blue background. </p>

<p>&#8220;Computer application software for mobile phones for self-installation and self-maintenance of smartwatches, tablets, mobile phones, and earphones,&#8221; is how the trademark is described. We&#8217;re not exactly sure what it tries to do, but there are strong indications that the brand here intends to eventually extend its self-repair services to smartwatches and earbuds.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="464" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/image-112-1024x464.png?x23692" alt="Samsung" class="wp-image-498644" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/image-112-1024x464.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/image-112-300x136.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/image-112-768x348.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/image-112-696x315.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/image-112-1068x484.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/image-112-927x420.png 927w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/image-112.png 1220w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>A self-repair service is already available from Samsung for a select few models, it is important to note. Samsung Galaxy phones and tablets, including the Galaxy S20 series, Galaxy S21 lineup, and Galaxy Tab S7 Plus, are currently covered by self-repair services. At least that is what the trademark suggests; the company may also add the services to their smartwatches and earbuds.</p>

<p>In addition to the potential addition of new devices to Samsung&#8217;s DIY repair programme, a stand-alone app from the business also suggests that its cooperation with iFixit will come to an end. Additionally, to sell authentic repair parts to Samsung consumers, the latter currently offers repair manuals for Samsung gadgets. Therefore, you might not need to rely on iFixit to perform your own repairs on Samsung products.</p>

<p>Well, all of this currently stands out as a piece of unconfirmed news. There are numerous trademarks and patents filed by thousands of companies but not every one of them has really turned into the actual product. Let&#8217;s wait a little more to know about the service to a trademark in detail. We may get to see some official announcements in the coming weeks if the brand is really working on it.</p>
