The Sharp Aquos S3 was announced in March in Taiwan. It launched with a redesigned notch and a larger display but the same processor as the Aquos S2. If the chipset put you off then, you may want to check out the new high-end version that comes with a more powerful processor and more features.

The high-end Aquos S3 swaps the Snapdragon 630 for the Snapdragon 660 processor. It also bumps the RAM to 6GB and storage to 128GB. While the battery capacity is the same as the base model, Sharp has added support for wireless charging (7.5W).

There are still dual cameras (12MP + 13MP) with support for 2x lossless zoom on the back of the phone. It also keeps the 16MP front camera. There is a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, Face Unlock, dual SIM support, and Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging.

It also has NFC, Bluetooth 5.0 and runs Android 8.0 with Sharp’s Smile UX on top. The high-end version is a bit heavier at 167.4g compared to the base model which weighs 165.4g.

Sharp has put a price tag of NTD 13,990 (~$470) on the high-end version of the Aquos S3. It will go on sale on June 11.

Sharp Aquos S3 will be unveiled in a brand new “High Edition” on June 7. A launch invite has just leaked online confirming the launch date of the upcoming mid-ranger for this Thursday. It will be an overpowered version of the standard S3 with a more powerful SoC and more memory. The handset will come with an octa-core Snapdragon 660 chipset by Qualcomm, that is the best mid-range processor launched by the San Diego giant after the new Snapdragon 710.

Further, there will be 128 GB of internal storage instead of 64 GB found on the standard variant. Just to remind you, the original Sharp Aquos S3 boasts a Snapdragon 630 SoC. The High Edition is also tipped to come with Qi wireless charging technology, while the standard variant does not feature wireless charging. The battery capacity should remain the same: 3200 mAh with the support to Quick Charge 3.0 for fast charging.

The rest of the specs should remain exactly the same, as well as the design. So, we should see a borderless device with a notch and a glass back. The display should have a 6-inch size, a Full HD+ resolution, an 18:9 aspect ratio and the proprietary IGZO technology. There will also be a dual 12 + 13 MP camera.

Foxconn-owned Sharp was one of the OEMs who caught up with the full-screen, bezel-less smartphone trend which became the trend in the second half of last year. The company released the Aquos S2 smartphone with a bezel-less design, and the device was also the world’s first Snapdragon 630-powered smartphone. The Aquos S2 is about getting a successor, and that is the Sharp Aquos S3. If you think the Aquos S2’s design was fantastic, wait until you see that of the soon-to-be-released Aquos S3 whose pictures just leaked.

You might have seen some grainy photos of the S3 or the pictures accompanying its TENAA listing which are not too superb. We serve you clear images of the Sharp Aquos S3 which appeared on Taiwan’s National Communications Commission (NCC) website. The photos show how the design of the device looks like when viewed from the front and rear aspects. The front tends to look similar to that of the Aquos S2, except that the notch at the top is more extensive, as it accommodates not just the selfie camera, but also the receiver speaker and one other sensor whose function is unknown. At the rear, the Aquos S3 keeps up also with the dual camera design found on its predecessor. The cameras have a slight bump and is aligned vertically with the LED flash at the bottom. What differentiates the Aquos S2’s rear design from the upcoming model is the rear-mounted fingerprint sensor on the Aquos S3.

Sharp has already revealed the Aquos S3 would be launched on January 16 and specs wise, the device is expected to sport a 5.99-inch display with a resolution of 2160 x 1080 display. the device will be powered by a 2.2GHz octa-core processor which may be the Snapdragon 660 and backed by up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. It will also come with a 3100mAh battery.

Sharp Aquos S3, which recently received certification from Taiwan’s certification body NCC, is now all set to get launched later this month, on 16th January.

The Japan-based company has announced that it is holding a press event on 16th January in Taipei, where it will announce Sharp Aquos S3 smartphone.

The phone is expected to come with a full-screen display with minimal bezels on the sides. It will features a dual camera setup on the back, with camera lenses stacked vertically.

Recently, the phone appeared on Geekbench benchmarking website, which revealed some of the specification of the device. The phone will be powered by a Qualcomm processor given that the lunch invite has a ‘Qualcomm Snapdragon’ branding.

According to the previous leaks, the phone could pack either Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 or Snapdragon 660 processor. In terms of memory, the device will have 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. There will be another variant of the phone with higher memory configuration — 6GB RAM and 128GB onboard storage.

The phone will feature a 5.99-inch Full HD+ display with a screen resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels. As said, the phone will feature a full-screen display with 18:9 aspect ratio. Its predecessor, Sharp Aquos S2 features a display with an unusual aspect ratio of 17:9.

In the benchmarking test, the Sharp Aquos S3 scored 880 in single-core test and 4237 in the multi-core test. The smartphone will be running Android 8.0 Oreo operating system.  The phone is also said to pack a fingerprint sensor for added security.

According to the TENAA listing, there will be a 12-megapixel lens and a 13-megapixel lens on the back, while on the front-side, it will feature a 16-megapixel selfie shooter. The phone is said to be fuelled by a 3,100mAh battery.

Sharp had unveiled the Aquos S2 smartphone in August 2017. It appears that the company will be soon announcing the Aquos S3 as its successor phone as it has been certified by NCC, Taiwan’s certification body.

The original Aquos S2 features 5.5-inch display that offers an aspect ratio of 17:9. It is driven by Snapdragon 630 chipset and 3,020mAh battery. It comes in 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage and 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage models.

The above image that has surfaced through NCC certification shows that the Aquos S3 has a model number of FS8032. It also reveals that it is equipped with a vertically dual camera and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. This handset has also appeared on Geekbench benchmarking site with specs like Snapdragon 630 chipset, 4 GB of RAM and Android 8.0 Oreo. In single-core test, it has scored 880 and in multi-core test, it has scored 4237.

In the previous month, the Sharp FS8015 had received TENAA certification in China. Not only he specs, but also the images of the phone had surfaced on TENAA. The design of the back panel shown above and the rear appearance of the FS8015 are same. This indicates that the FS8015 could be the upcoming Sharp Aquos S3.

According to the TENAA listing, the handset features a 5.99-inch display that produces 18:9 aspect ratio. It features either Snapdragon 630 or Snapdragon 660 chipset. It will be also coming in models like 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage and 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage. It is packed with a 3,100mAh battery. For photography, it features 12-megapixel + 13-megapixel dual camera setup on its back panel whereas it is equipped with a front-facing camera of 16-megapixel.

There is no confirmation on the launch date of the Sharp Aquos S3. It is speculated that the Japanese firm would be debuting the smartphone later this month.
