Recent rumors have revealed that the Japanese company would be launching FS8016 and FS8010 full-screen smartphones on July 17. A new image has appeared showing several color variants of a mysterious Sharp phone with vertically stacked dual rear cameras.

The mysterious Sharp phone is shown in color variants like red, white, dark blue, pink, light green, light blue and black. This reminds us of a Sharp Aquos 200SH that was launched in 2012. Since it was launched in as many as 25 colors, it is the only smartphone that was released in multiple color options.

The rear side of the mysterious phone from Sharp has a vertically designed dual camera system at the top-left corner of the back panel and below it is the LED flash. There is no fingerprint scanner present on the rear panel of the phone, which indicates that it could be placed below the screen at the front.

The investment by Foxconn resulted in Sharp’s first operating profit in three years, announced in April 2017 and attributed to the restructuring efforts by Foxconn. One area Foxconn is looking to revitalise, apart from the once budding Sharp TV business, is its smartphone business. To this end, Sharp is said to planning the launch of two mid-range phones next month.

Precisely, the rumour points at the launch of two mid-range models identified as FS8010 and FS8016 on July 17. Both models are said to feature a 5.5-inch display having a high screen-to-body ratio and resolution of 2048 x 1080pixels. The two models also come with a dual 12MP rear camera setup. The two models will sport different processors. While the FS8016 sports Qualcomm’s latest mid-range Snapdragon 660 chipset, the FS8010 features a Snapdragon 630 chip.

Read More: More Spec Details As Sharp FS8016 Appears on AnTuTu: 2K Display, 4GB RAM & More

The FS8016 is obviously the top model of the two and for a mid-ranger, the Sharp smartphone is said to have a design similar to the Xiaomi Mi Mix. The bezel at the bottom of the display is said to be narrow and with the screen accounting for at least 91.3% of the entire device. Other leaked specs of the two Sharp mid-rangers include Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS, 4GB and 6GB RAM options. Recall that the Sharp FS8016 model has previously appeared on AnTuTu and GeekBench, revealing some of its specs and those specs are similar to the ones listed above.

The prices of the Sharp models are also said to be cheap. Note that we are not so sure about the source of the launch rumour as Sharp is yet to officially say anything about any launch event. So we’ll have to wait for words from Sharp. Also, the names will likely be different from the ones which have been making the rounds.

The Sharp FS8016 runs Android 7.1.1 and is listed as having a 2040 x 1080 (2K display). Its rear camera is a 12MP sensor and there is an 8MP shooter for the front facing camera. RAM is 4GB and there is 64GB of built-in storage.

These specs point at a top tier mid-range phone, so expect the Sharp FS8016 to be a bit expensive. AnTuTu says its benchmark score is about 110,000 which is similar to that of the OPPO R11, another Snapdragon 660-powered phone.

There are still some key specification details missing like the display size and battery capacity. Sharp may also add some extra features such as its new AI assistant, Emopa, and also throw in an IP rating.

Since it has surfaced on AnTuTu we should look forward to a TENAA or GFXBench listing and then a launch date.

The Sharp FS8016 was spotted on Geekbench yesterday and it is listed as having the SDM 660 under its hood. It appears Qualcomm has already started using its new naming system.

The Sharp FS8016 runs Android 7.1.1 and has 4GB of RAM. No other info about the phone is available. The device scores 1656 points on the single-core test and 5244 on the multi-core test. These scores are in line with that of the OPPO R11 (single-core test = 1607, multi-core test = 5823).

It will be interesting to know the other features of the Sharp FS8016. Will it have a bezel-less display? What resolution will it be, 1080p or Quad HD? And will it have the Emopa AI assistant that launched with the Aquos R? We will have to wait for a TENAA or GFXBench listing to get answers to some of the questions above.
