Simple Energy has unveiled its latest electric scooter in India. The Simple Dot One e-scooter comes with a range of 151km. The Simple Dot One release is coming on the heels of the launch of the Simple ONE back in May 2023, with a range of 212km.

Features

The Simple Dot One is equipped with the PMSM motor patented for the previous model. It has up to 8.5kW peak/ 4.5kW continuous power and a peak torque of 72Nm. It can go from 0 to 40km/h in 2.77 seconds and hit a top speed of 105km/h. The Simple Dot One has a smaller 3.7kWh battery than that of the Simple Dot. It has a fast charge architecture, achieving a 1.5km range per minute using the Simple Loop charging station.

The Simple Dot One electric scooter has a 7-inch touchscreen with a customizable interface and support for 4G and Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity. You can receive calls, listen to music, and do a few other things while cruising on the scooter. It has a decent brake system consisting of CBS and efficient disc brakes. There is a 35-liter under storage for luggage and the entire scooter is rated IP67, including its battery pack and display.

Pricing & Availability

The Simple Dot One electric scooter is priced starting at Rs. 139999 ($1,683) Ex-showroom Bangalore. It is available in Brazen Black, Grace White, Azure Blue, and Namma Red color options. Simple Energy says it will give priority to owners of the Simple One willing to switch their scooter for the Simple Dot One. New customers can pre-book the Simple Dot One directly from Simple Energy for Rs. 1947 ($24) beginning from January 27, 2024. There is no global availability and pricing information yet for the Simple Dot One e-scooter.

In India, Simple Energy will start producing in the first week of January 2023. Beginning on January 19th, 2023, the Simple Vision 1.0 plant will start producing its Simple One premium electric scooter in India. The recently built Simple Energy facility is more than 2 lakh square feet in size, and it is stated that the hub can generate up to 1 lakh electric scooters annually. The brand spent more than 100 crores to establish the manufacturing facility.

“We are officially moving from planning to execution, prototype to production, and dreams to reality,” stated Suhash Rajkumar, founder and CEO of Simple Energy. The company also plans to increase the size of its manufacturing facility, which would be located in Dharmapuri, Tamil Nadu, and have a 1.25 lakh unit annual production capacity. The firm has announced that it will begin operations in January at its brand-new facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu.

The work is currently evolving into Simple Concept 1.0, a more expansive vision. We anticipate introducing top-quality electric vehicles that will accelerate and simplify the transition to green mobility thanks to improved engineering on Simple One and rigorous R&D. The manufacturing journey will begin in January 2023, and we look forward to it, said Suhas Rajkumar, founder and CEO of Simple Energy.

The Simple One electric scooter is the company’s first EV product and will compete with the Ather 450X, the Ola S1 series, and other models. The e-scooter is equipped with a 4.8kWh battery pack and a 4.5kW electric motor with a peak torque rating of 72Nm. The powertrain can propel the e-scooter to a top speed of 105kmph and provide a claimed range of 236 kilometres on a single charge.

The Bangaluru based EV company, Simple Energy has now launched a new configuration of their existing e-scooter dubbed the Simple One. With the new configuration, the electric scooter now comes with two removable batteries compared to the single removable battery option of the previous version. Other than the added battery capacity, the new Simple One trim will retain the other specs and features of the previous model.

Simple One range upgrades

The previous version of the Simple One scooter offered a total battery capacity of 4.8kWh, which has now been increased to 6.4kWh giving the scooter a maximum range of 300+ km on a single charge. This new option makes the Simple One electric scooter the leader in range offered for a full charge (Indian e-scooter market).

Other than that, the scooter has a motor that allows it to maintain 96 percent efficiency even when operating at its maximum output of 8.5 kW and 72 Nm torque. Other than that, the Simple One accelerates from 0-40 km/h in just 2.85 seconds and has a claimed top speed of 105 km/h.

Its features include a touchscreen instrument cluster with onboard navigation and Bluetooth and 4G connectivity. Access to music and calls are via the user’s smartphone. It gets LED lighting at the front and rear and 30 liters under-seat storage along with a tyre pressure monitoring system.

Suhas Rajkumar, Founder, and CEO of Simple Energy stated that “When we conceived the Simple One, we had the aim of offering an electric scooter that could offer enough range for users to not have to worry about range or charging. Offering an extra battery will allow power users to reach destinations that no other electric two-wheeler in India can. This additional battery can easily fit in the boot of the scooter offering a range of over 300 km. This is a big milestone – not just for Simple Energy, but for the EV industry. This move will also go a long way in bolstering the perception of electric scooters.”

Simple One with an additional battery pack is priced at Rs 1.44 lakhs(ex-showroom). The traditional non-additional battery variant will be available for Rs 1.09 lakh(ex-showroom). As for the specs of the non-additional battery variant, it comes with a total battery capacity of 4.8kWh which nets it a range of 236 km (real-world 203 km). Interested customers can book the Simple One EV by heading to Simple Energy’s official website for booking fees of Rs 1,947.
