Bicycle company Sixthreezero has launched the Two Front Wheel Electric Bike. The new model is an electric trike with a reverse trike (or tadpole) design. It features two front wheels and a single rear wheel. The tadpole design means that the new e-trike is less tippy in turns and is more stable, offering a more comfortable ride.

The unusual design of the new Sixthreezero e-trike meant that the company had to do some innovative work in having two wheels at the front. These included a more complex steering linkage arrangement that had to be designed, manufactured, and implemented. Sixthreezero has navigated this implementation in a way that does not make the e-trike costlier and has even added a leaning mechanism. This implies that the trike leans into turns for enhanced stability.

The e-trike comes with a pair of 16-inch wheels at the front to keep the center of gravity lower while a 20-inch rear wheel completes the setup. The rear wheel houses the trike’s 750W electric motor providing a rear-wheel drive. This is also a marked departure from the typical e-trike which is basically a front-wheel drive design. The Sixthreezero Two Front Wheel Electric Bike has a top speed of 25.7km/h making it faster than several regular e-trikes in the market.

The trike’s electric motor can be engaged either through a thumb throttle or pedal assist. The bike has a 48v battery with a capacity of 500Wh and a claimed range of 64km on a single charge and low-power pedal assist mode. The range of the e-trike drops rapidly when riding at higher speeds.

Pricing & Availability

The new Sixthreezero electric trike is priced at $1,999 and seems to be an exciting, as well as an affordable addition to the e-trike market. Its leaning feature and two-front wheel design offer greater stability than the regular e-trike especially when navigating turns. While the bike is currently available on pre-order, shipments are expected to commence in a couple of weeks, according to the company.
