Design and first impressions: Tiny but not flawless

The SJCAM C110 Plus is impressively compact, smaller than traditional action cameras, and very easy to carry. It is available in either black or white, both offering a minimalistic look.

The front is dominated by a large lens that takes up nearly half the surface. Between the lens and the LED status light, you will find small perforations for the microphone and speaker. On the right-hand side, there is a power button that also starts or stops video recording, along with a secondary button to activate Wi-Fi and cycle through modes. Underneath, there is a covered microSD card slot, USB-C port and a tiny reset pinhole.

As for mounting, SJCAM includes a range of accessories such as a clear case, magnetic pendant, and bracket mounts. These are compatible with standard GoPro-style mounts, offering flexibility for different use cases. Sometimes when you hit the stop button on the app to stop recording, it still appears that the app could be recording, when it has actually stopped. Occasionally, you may feel the need to re-establish connection to check whether the recording has ended. This seems to be a software-related glitch and can potentially be fixed through a future update.

Video quality and stabilization: Serviceable in daylight, with surprisingly good stability

The maximum resolution you can record on the C110 Plus is 4K at 30 frames per second. In daylight, the results are decent with sharp detail and balanced colours. Indoors or in low-light conditions, there is some visible softness, but footage is still usable for casual viewing or social media.

The camera includes slow motion, timelapse, loop recording and dashcam mode. The six-axis image gyro stabilization works quite well and feels quite close to what you would get on more expensive action cameras. When mounted correctly, especially on a chest rig or stick mount, video remains stable even while walking or riding.

Audio capture is basic. Outdoors, the microphone picks up ambient sounds, and indoors, voices can sometimes sound slightly muffled. You may want to use an external microphone for better audio quality in more demanding setups.

Battery and storage: Decent for short sessions

The built-in battery provides up to about two hours of recording, which is fair for this size. During colder weather, battery life drops more quickly — a full charge went from 75 percent to zero in less than an hour during our winter testing.

The camera supports microSD cards up to at least 128GB, which gives you ample space for footage even at higher resolutions.

Shooting experience: Decent enough

Wearing the C110 Plus on the included magnetic mount feels freeing. Whether under a jacket or around your neck, it stays secure and discreet. We tested the camera across different scenarios, such as walking indoors, while attending an event, and even while riding a motorcycle. Some footage turned out nicely when the camera was stable and lighting conditions were favourable. But handheld use in darker environments still showed some jitter and softness.

And without a live preview, you are often guessing whether your framing is correct. This can be challenging for creators who need precision in their shots.
