It is no news that Huawei’s P20 Pro is one of the best camera phones on the market right now. The triple-camera toting flagship has a new update that brings even more features to its cameras.

The Huawei P20 Pro has 960fps slow-motion recording right out of the box but if you want to record a slow-mo video using the phone, you have to manually press record. The new update now adds automatic video recording in slow-motion mode.

With the new update, the phone automatically senses when something interesting is about to happen and begins recording in slow-motion. This comes in useful as people sometimes miss the exact moment when to start recording in slow-motion.

The update is said to also bring improvements to portrait mode and changes the position of the zoom button. Apart from camera upgrades, it also brings June 2018′ security patch, improves system performance and stability, and optimizes power consumption.

XDA Forum members have revealed that the update has build number B131 and is not yet available as an OTA. Those who installed it did so via Huawei Recovery Updater. If you don’t want to wait for the OTA, you can download the update and flash it on to your device.

Just last week, Huawei announced the Mate 10 series will get 960fps slow-motion recording via an EMUI 8.1 update in July. Hopefully, they should also support automatic slow-motion recording.

CES Asia kicked off today and the big names in the Chinese mobile industry are in attendance. Huawei had a conference today and it announced some new features coming to its devices including the newly announced GPU Turbo.

The Huawei Mate 10 series will be the first to receive the GPU Turbo update. Huawei’s GPU Turbo increases the processing power of the GPU by up to 60% while reducing power consumption by 30%. The new feature was announced last week and comes with the Honor Play smartphone.

Since most of Huawei’s devices use in-house chipsets, they have found a way to push the feature to its other phones via a software update. The update will arrive on the Mate 10 by the end of this month.

Huawei also announced other devices getting the feature and the time frame. Below are the supported devices and when they will get the update:

1. June – Mate 10, Honor V10
2. July – P20 Series, Mate RS Porsche Design, Nova 2s, Honor 10, MediaPad M5
3. August – Nova 3e, Enjoy 8 Plus, Enjoy 7S, Maimang 6, Honor 9 Lite, Honor Play 7X
4. September – Mate 9 Series
5. October – P10 Series, Honor 9, Honor V9
6. November –  Other Huawei devices not mentioned above

Huawei also announced some new features coming to the Mate 10. First, the Mate 10 series will support cloud computing starting June 26. It will then receive the EMUI 8.1 update in mid-July which will bring 960fps slow-motion recording.
