Huawei and Darren have teamed up to release a smart desk lamp, named Huawei Smart Selection Darren Smart Desk Lamp 3 Pro. This lamp is now up for public testing on Huawei’s online store. Initially priced at 429 yuan ($58), it’s now on offer for 329 yuan ($45) during testing.

The smart lamp showcases a minimalist design, measuring approximately 210 x 480 x 250mm, suitable for diverse home settings. Crafted from eco-friendly ABS material, it adheres to environmental standards.

The lamp incorporates patented spring pivot joints, facilitating adjustments of up to 60° forward/backward, 160° upward/downward, and 170° left/right for the lamp head. This adaptability accommodates personalized lighting angles according to height and posture. Foldable for compact storage, it optimizes space utilization.

The lamp’s robust base ensures secure placement on any surface. Its touch-sensitive panel presents buttons for power, reading modes, screen reading, light formulas, and night light, accompanied by a brightness adjustment slider. This interface allows various operations including light control, dimming, night light activation, and network setup through short presses, long presses, and swipes.

The standout feature of this desk lamp is its third-generation SSDT Stereoscopic Light. Unlike earlier versions, this uses 96 lamp beads for side emission. As a result, it increases light coverage by 100%, cuts down shadowy areas by half, and boosts uniformity by 1.2 times. This technology allows it to provide even lighting for desks as long as 1.2 meters.

This smart lamp also introduces “Smart Eye Management.” Users can set rest reminders and even get reports on their lighting usage, helping them monitor their eye health. An added benefit is its intelligent photosensitivity. This means the lamp can detect changes in room lighting and adjust its brightness accordingly.

It supports instant smartphone connectivity and integration with other smart home devices. The lamp offers interactive touch controls and one-touch smart connection, but this function is exclusively available on smartphones equipped with HarmonyOS 2.0.0 and later versions.

Amazon had just recently announced a couple of new smart home products for the global market. This included the new Echo Dot series of smart speakers, the new Kindle Scribe, and the latest Fire TV Cube as well. Alongside these new products, the company also announced the new Halo Rise, which has an interesting feature that can track your sleep by your breathing pattern. So let’s have a look.

The new Halo Rise is basically a bedside lamp that has a built in sleep tracker that can work without a camera or a microphone. Furthermore, it uses a “no contact, low energy sensor,” which can sense movements and respiratory patterns. In simpler terms, it can sense your breathe and, thanks to its machine learning prowess, it can detect the expansion and contraction of your body when you’re asleep.

Through this, Amazon claims that it has “trained and validated the device’s sleep algorithm against the clinical gold standard for sleep analysis called overnight polysomnography.” Additionally, even if there is another person or an animal sharing the bed with you, the Halo Rise can detect it and exclude their activity while only mapping your data in the sleep summary, which is offered to you everyday. These reports also offers suggestions to help improve your sleep by optimizing your environment.

The Halo Rise also has built in sensors to measure the temperature, humidity and brightness of your room, and is also a lamp that also supports Alexa. Notably, you can even turn off the sleep tracking feature if you’re more concerned about privacy. The device will go on sale later this year and has a price tag of 140 US Dollars.

Xiaomi India has a new product on crowdfunding and it’s a cool little Mi Smart Bedside Lamp 2. As the name suggests, it’s a compact bedside lamp which can be controlled via the Mi Home app or even with voice controls via Alexa, Google Assistant, and Apple Homekit. Like the Mi Smart bulb, this 12W lamp supports 16 million colors and comes with simple touch controls.

The Mi Smart Bedside Lamp 2 is currently up for crowdfunding via the Xiaomi India website for Rs. 2,299 (~$32). The campaign still has 7 days remaining and there were 277 backers at the time of writing this article. The campaign goal of 1000 units is likely to be met before the deadline. The 12W Bedside Lamp boasts of peak brightness of 400 lumens. It supports custom presets as well as scheduling features to set the mood in the room. There’s also a special flow mode that automatically changes the color at regular intervals. The lamp comes with a touch panel at the back which can be used to change its colors as well as the brightness.

After crowdfunding the extremely handy Mi Motion-activated Night 2, this is yet another interesting product from Xiaomi. If you were looking for a smart bedside lamp, this can be a really good option for your home.

After launching products like Yeelight Moonlight Chandelier and Candlelight Lamp, China-based manufacturer Xiaomi is now gearing up to launch a new product tomorrow under its Yeelight brand — Yeelight Eye Lamp Pro. Ahead of the official launch through crowdfunding, the product has been exposed online along with its features.

The Yeelight Eye Lamp Pro is touted as the world’s first intelligent eye protection desk lamp. The major highlight of the product is that it comes with a SunLike Technology, which can protect the user’s eye.

The SunLike Technology is said to pack LED that gets excited by purple lamp beads. Traditionally, the LED gets excited by blue lamp beads. Because of this change, the company says that the light generated through this lamp is close to the natural light and thus, provides protection to the children’s eyesight.

Design-wise, the Yeelight Eye Lamp Pro looks simple and elegant. It has a circular weight base, a foldable arm and a mirror-like LED light which can also be adjusted according to the requirement. The lamp is said to have been certified by Germany’s authoritative inspection agency TUV Rheinland, which is the country’s highest AA class illumination.

Xiaomi announced a brand new Mi smart LED lamp alongside the new drone on May 25. This will be yet another addition to the company’s vast number of smart home products and the company is continuing the tradition of keeping the price cheap. The Mi Smart LED lamp is priced at  just 169 Yuan which comes to around $26.

The new Mi lamp comes with four modes for different lighting needs — focus mode, read mode, child mode and computer mode. Further, you can set the temperature and brightness of the lamp via the connected Mi smart home app. This is definitely handy for all your lighting needs.

As for the design, the lamp has a very minimalistic design. You get a super thin stand and a thin tube, so it should be easy to place it anywhere you want without taking a lot of space.
