However, what the actual product turned out to be was a special fried chicken, with 5G only being used as a buzzword. Now, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/kfc/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">KFC</a> seems to be following the same strategy, as it announced the launch of a new tech product as well.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-317898" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/20200420_072137_845.jpg?x10805" alt="KFC" width="533" height="761" /></p>
<p>The announcement was made on the official Weibo account, a Chinese microblogging website, of Kentucky Fried Chicken. In the announcement, the fast food giant also shared an image poster. This featured the fried chicken box that is iconic to the company, although it was green in color over the typical red, and featured what resembles a small charger.</p>
<h6 class="related"><strong>Editor&#8217;s Pick: <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/04/19/alleged-realme-x3-bags-tenaa-approval-realme-x50-youths-camera-details-leaked/">Alleged Realme X3 bags TENAA approval, Realme X50 Youth’s camera details leaked</a></strong></h6>
<p>Looking at the image, the KFC box features a small outlet that carries a charger/ handle that seems like the kind you&#8217;d find in a gas station or power stations for electric cars. This is further emphasized with a sports car being partially visible in the back. Unfortunately, it is currently unknown what the company actually has in store for us, since McDonald&#8217;s pulled a late April fool&#8217;s joke on everyone.</p>
<figure id="attachment_316933" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-316933" style="width: 600px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-316933 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/1722435-e1586935622569.jpg?x10805" alt="KFC" width="600" height="449" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/1722435-e1586935622569.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/1722435-e1586935622569-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/1722435-e1586935622569-80x60.jpg 80w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/1722435-e1586935622569-265x198.jpg 265w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/1722435-e1586935622569-561x420.jpg 561w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-316933" class="wp-caption-text">McDonald&#8217;s fried chicken that was teased to be a 5G product</figcaption></figure>
<p>Thus, it might just be a new form of fried chicken for the Chinese market or we may even see a small tech product. Who knows, maybe KFC decides to ship a small toy car that can be charged via the electric pump, like toys found in a McDonald&#8217;s Happy Meal. But take these speculations with a grain of salt for now.</p>

<p>The company also shared various teasers and promotional images of the same. However, it is currently unknown what exactly the smart product is, and how the newer and faster bandwidth ties in with it. Although from what we can gather, the new product will have a display surrounded by thin bezels. It will even feature a wide angle lens, which will support facial recognition as well.</p>
<h6 class="related"><strong>Editor&#8217;s Pick: <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/04/11/dont-update-your-mi-a3-to-android-10-xiaomi-pulls-back-the-udpate-third-time/">Don’t update your Mi A3 to Android 10; Xiaomi pulls back the update for the third time</a></strong></h6>
<p>Amongst other news, the device will also have speakers and will support 5G networking. As of right now, it is also unclear if this is a collaboration between McDonald&#8217;s and a tech industry brand. This may still be likely, considering the company primarily focuses on the fast food industry and not technology, but that sort of collaboration would&#8217;ve seen more advertising or promotion.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-316422 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/20200413_083031_719.jpg?x10805" alt="McDonald's" width="465" height="647" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/20200413_083031_719.jpg 465w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/20200413_083031_719-216x300.jpg 216w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/20200413_083031_719-302x420.jpg 302w" sizes="(max-width: 465px) 100vw, 465px" /></p>
<p>Thus, we can only wait for the official announcement to know for sure, what the device in question actually is. The date of the conference is 15th April 2020, so stay tuned as we will be covering the event and more.</p>

The name of the product isn&#8217;t clearly stated but the teaser speaks volume about what we&#8217;ll likely be seeing on that day.</p>

<p>The teaser poster is that of a young man who carries a carton containing a football. The poster also contains the logo of a camera and these all points in the direction of a Smart sports camera coming. The product will by unveiled by 10 AM on April 5 and then we&#8217;ll know what it is for sure.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/xiaomi-camera/"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-large wp-image-124910" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/xiaomi-camera-576x1024.jpg?x10805" alt="xiaomi" width="576" height="1024" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/xiaomi-camera-576x1024.jpg 576w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/xiaomi-camera-169x300.jpg 169w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/xiaomi-camera.jpg 600w" sizes="(max-width: 576px) 100vw, 576px" /></a></p>

<p>However, Xiaomi has got a number of Action camera in its lineup, especially the Yi-series. The Yi camera is manufactured by Xiaoyi which is now an independent company. Perhaps, this camera will bear squarely the Xiaomi brand name as it isn&#8217;t likely a crowdfunded product even though it falls under its smart home MIJIA brand.</p>
