<p>Now, the company has confirmed that the OPPO Air Glass will be available for purchase in its home country China from 3rd March for the price of 4,999 yuan (~$791). The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/oppo">OPPO</a> Air Glass will be available for purchase in two color options &#8212; Silver Wing and Black Mirror, along with two custom frame kits.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-430973 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/OPPO-Air-Glass-Handson-3.jpg?x44794" alt="OPPO Air Glass Hands-On" width="1280" height="652" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/OPPO-Air-Glass-Handson-3.jpg 1280w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/OPPO-Air-Glass-Handson-3-300x153.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/OPPO-Air-Glass-Handson-3-768x391.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/OPPO-Air-Glass-Handson-3-1024x522.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/OPPO-Air-Glass-Handson-3-696x355.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/OPPO-Air-Glass-Handson-3-1068x544.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/OPPO-Air-Glass-Handson-3-825x420.jpg 825w" sizes="(max-width: 1280px) 100vw, 1280px" /></p>
<p>OPPO says that the Air Glass has four main characteristics &#8212; Beauty, Lightness, Universality, and Utility. The product aims to become the &#8220;third screen&#8221; for the users apart from smartphones and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/smartwatch">smartwatches</a>.</p>
<p>It has a single glass design with a proprietary Spark Micro Projector and cutting-edge micro-LED. It adopts a custom optical diffraction waveguide, supporting two display modes – 16-level grayscale and 256-level grayscale – and can deliver up to 1400 nits in average brightness while projecting. It supports four methods of interaction &#8212; touch, voice, hand motions, and head movements.</p>

<p>Under the hood, the product is powered by the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/qualcomm">Qualcomm</a> Snapdragon Wear 4100 chipset and supports functionalities like weather reminders, schedule reminders, a Health app, and a teleprompter which will benefit users with speeches, presentations, and more.</p>
<p>It also comes with a real-time translation feature with support for Chinese-English two-way translation while Chinese-Japanese and Chinese-Korean translations are slated to be offered in the future. Another important feature baked into the smart-glass is the real-time on-display navigation which provides directions via visual queues.</p>

<p>An update with firmware version 4.1.20 is rolling out to the users. This has a lot of features like smart DND, Vibration adjustments, gesture options, and more. You can look at the changelog(<a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/google">Google</a> translated from Spanish) below:</p>
<ul>
<li>Add Smart &#8216;Do Not Disturb&#8217;</li>
<li>Add Vibration mode settings</li>
<li>Add wrist sensitivity settings for &#8216;Lift to Wake&#8217;</li>
<li>Add mute buttons for incoming calls(on Android)</li>
<li>Add Bluetooth disconnection reminder</li>
<li>Bug fixes</li>
<li>Improved System stability</li>
</ul>
<p>As reported by OneTech, this update brings the Automatic DND(Do Not Disturb) functionality. After this, users won&#8217;t have to adjust it manually every night as the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-watch-lite">Mi Watch Lite</a> will go into DND mode once it detects that we are asleep.</p>
<p>Further, the update also fine tweaks the lift to wake functionality and brings more vibration mode settings. One of the annoying things that every fitness enthusiast or any casual smartwatch user experiences is the abrupt <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/bluetooth">Bluetooth</a> disconnections.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/xiaomi">Xiaomi</a> has found a solution for this as the new update will notify the user on his/her device when his watch is disconnected so that he can be aware of it. Apart from this, the update includes a mute switch for calls, bug fixes, and other system stability.</p>
<p>If you are a user of the Mi Watch Lite, you can get it updated to the latest firmware using the Xiaomi Wear app. However, if you haven&#8217;t bought one for yourself yet, you can use our <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/01/22/grab-20-discount-for-mi-watch-lite-on-giztop/">Giztop and get a $20 discount</a>.</p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400">These are indeed good times for the wearables market in India, as a recent report from IDC indicated that the segment witnessed an overall estimated growth of about 144% in 2020 from the previous year, 2019. This was due to shipments of over 36 million units abroad. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">The IDC report also hinted that earwear device shipments more than tripled from 2019 due mainly to their popular use for virtual meetings and other e-learning processes, and this accounted for a huge chunk (83.6%) of the total. This is equivalent to over 30 million unit shipments in 2020. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">The report puts domestic firm BoAt as the top producer of wearables with higher shipments (33.3%), followed by Samsung with 14.5%. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Wristbands experienced a steep decline of 34.3% from 2019, due mainly to the rising popularity of alternative watches. Xiaomi and Realme are the leaders in this segment.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">On the other hand, Watches saw a 139.3% growth above the 2019 numbers, with 2.6 million shipments. Noise and Realme are the leaders in the watch segment of the market.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">The last quarter recorded the biggest quarterly figures for wearables in India. Overall, an estimated 15.2 million units were shipped in Q4 of 2020, thereby outclassing its 2019 performance by 198.2%. This was the first quarter when shipments of watches exceeded a million units (1.3 million units were shipped).<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/India-Wearables-market-Q4-2020-IDC.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-375317" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/India-Wearables-market-Q4-2020-IDC.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="996" height="422" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/India-Wearables-market-Q4-2020-IDC.jpg 996w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/India-Wearables-market-Q4-2020-IDC-300x127.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/India-Wearables-market-Q4-2020-IDC-768x325.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/India-Wearables-market-Q4-2020-IDC-696x295.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/India-Wearables-market-Q4-2020-IDC-991x420.jpg 991w" sizes="(max-width: 996px) 100vw, 996px" /></a></span><span style="font-weight: 400">In his outlook review of the Indian wearables market, Jaipal Singh, an executive at IDC India said that the year 2020 saw a fundamental shift in the audio segment from wired to wireless devices, with further development expected along the same line in 2021, as an enhanced audio experience has become the centerpiece for OEMs. </span></p>

The company has announced the wearable device in three different types of bands 00 Leather, Metal, and Silicone Rubber.</p>
<p>For those who are unaware, Sony Wena smart wristband has been a sensational product from the company in its home market Japan ever since it was announced for a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/crowdfunding">crowdfunding</a> campaign.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-345847 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Sony-Wena-3.jpg?x44794" alt="Sony Wena 3" width="640" height="368" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Sony-Wena-3.jpg 640w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Sony-Wena-3-300x173.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px" /></p>
<p>The company claims that it designed the mechanical structure, antenna, electric circuit, and the board pattern in-house to ensure that everything fits in the buckle. It also adds that compared to Wena Active, it is 30 percent smaller in volume and 2.5mm thicker.</p>
<p>In order to improve fit, the battery, as well as the touch-panel <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/display">display</a>, come in a curved design. The cover glass for the display is of graphite-type and the company says that it passed through more than 20 processes.</p>
<p style="text-align: center"><strong><span style="color: #ff0000">EDITOR&#8217;S PICK:</span> </strong><a title="China could be working on an antitrust investigation into Google" href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/10/02/china-antitrust-investigation-google/" rel="bookmark"><strong>China could be working on an antitrust investigation into Google</strong></a></p>
<p>The display also has impact resistance which is claimed to withstand a drop impact of 90cm. Apart from this, the smart wristband also comes with support for 5ATM standard waterproof, which is usually found in any <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/wearable">wearable</a> device nowadays.</p>
<p>It packs an accelerometer and dual optical <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/heart-rate-sensor">heart rate sensor</a>, enabling users to keep track of daily activities as well as to measure heart rate and keep track of sleep data. The company says that it is powered by a unique algorithm for daily health management.</p>

The product will be launched on March 16.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/UFit.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-309788" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/UFit.jpg?x44794" alt="UMIDIGI UFit" width="1920" height="1080" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/UFit.jpg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/UFit-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/UFit-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/UFit-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/UFit-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/UFit-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/UFit-747x420.jpg 747w" sizes="(max-width: 1920px) 100vw, 1920px" /></a></p>
<p>In the face of the Coronavirus outbreak, the focus on health and fitness has increased. The <span style="font-weight: 400">blood oxygen saturation (SpO2) level is a vital indicator of a person’s health. This tracking the SpO2 level is also a new wearable tech metric getting adopted by more manufacturers. It might sound complicated but SpO2 can reveal conditions. For example, coronavirus and sleep apnea may cause low blood oxygen saturation.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">The SpO2 monitor is already in some big-name wearables: Fitbit and Garmin already have an SpO2 sensor on most of their devices, and Huawei has jumped in too. UMIDIGI UFit is expected to also have a SpO2 sensor but it would be much more affordable, in line with UMIDIGI’s market strategy.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Giveaway.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-309787" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Giveaway.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="1000" height="1000" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Giveaway.jpg 1000w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Giveaway-150x150.jpg 150w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Giveaway-300x300.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Giveaway-768x768.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Giveaway-696x696.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Giveaway-420x420.jpg 420w" sizes="(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px" /></a></span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">There’s still a lot we don’t know about the device, but there are a few things we can speculate from the teaser image. Besides the SpO2 monitoring function, it apparently has a curved screen and 2.5D glass. And there’s a side button to control the watch. W</span><span style="font-weight: 400">e won’t have to wait long to learn more about the smartwatch since it goes official on March 16.</span></p>
<p>UMIDIGI is also running a giveaway with five<span style="font-weight: 400"> units of the UMIDIGI F2 smartphone and fifteen units of the UFit up for takes. You can join the giveaway on their </span><a href="http://bit.ly/giveawayUFit-F2"><span style="font-weight: 400">official website</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">. </span><span style="font-weight: 400">You can also pre-order the UFit on <a href="http://ali.pub/4jtyd0" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">AliExpress.</a></span></p>

<h4>Design</h4>
<p>Xiaomi Mi Watch draws a lot of design inspiration from the immensely popular Apple Watch Series 5. Both of them equip a 1.78-inch square-shaped display with a ceramic back. Another similar design is the crown on the right. It can be used to navigate through the watch UI.</p>

<a href='https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/11/13/pictures-xiaomi-mi-watch-hands-on-cheaper-edition-of-apple-watch/imagemonitor00003-9/'><img width="1497" height="1000" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Imagemonitor00003-2.jpg?x44794" class="attachment-full size-full" alt="Mi Watch featured 03" loading="lazy" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Imagemonitor00003-2.jpg 1497w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Imagemonitor00003-2-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Imagemonitor00003-2-768x513.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Imagemonitor00003-2-1024x684.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Imagemonitor00003-2-696x465.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Imagemonitor00003-2-1068x713.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Imagemonitor00003-2-629x420.jpg 629w" sizes="(max-width: 1497px) 100vw, 1497px" /></a>

<p>Down by the crown, a multi-purpose button is provided to fast open a sport mode. On the left, you will find a speaker vent, with which you can play music on the Mi Watch. At the bottom, you’ll see the pins for the charging dock and the heart rate monitor. Compared to Apple Watch, the Mi Watch&#8217;s body is a bit thicker.</p>

<h4>MIUI For Watch OS (Based on Google Wear OS)</h4>
<p>Xiaomi customized a watch version of their MIUI OS for the latest Mi Watch, which is based on Google Wear OS. It allows you to download over 40 customized apps to spread the watch functions, like Sogo Maps, QQ Music, Wechat and so on. But the China version in our hands, those apps are more likely to meet the Chinese users&#8217; demands.</p>

The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2017/09/01/idc-research-xiaomi-apple-lead-global-wearables-market-q2-2017/">report for Q2 2017</a> showed Xiaomi led the market, relegating Apple to second place. Research firm Canalys has now released its own report of the smart wearable market for Q1 2018. The report showed Apple dominated the market with an estimated 3.8 million while Xiaomi came in second with a total shipment of 3.7 million.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/wearable.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-192852" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/wearable.jpg?x44794" alt="wearable market" width="728" height="409" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/wearable.jpg 728w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/wearable-300x169.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 728px) 100vw, 728px" /></a></p>
<p>According to the report, Apple&#8217;s shipments got a big boost from the Watch Series 3 and the addition of LTE. On its part, 90% of Xiaomi&#8217;s shipments were for the Mi Band models especially the Mi Band 2. Other players in the top 5 include Fitbit, Garmin and Huawei.</p>

<p>On the whole, the wearable market grew by 35% when compared to the first quarter of last year. A total of 20.5 million wearables were shipped by all the market players. Although more wearable band units were sold, 80% of the revenue accrued to the market is from smartwatches. That means despite the closeness of Xiaomi&#8217;s gross shipment to that of Apple, the revenue will be nowhere near each other. Apple also led the smartwatch market while Garmin came in second with 1 million shipments. Unfortunately, Canalys did not reveal the revenue accrued to each manufacturer.</p>

The so -called &#8220;paper watch&#8221; can perform same functions of health-monitoring and fitness tracking performed by smartwatches like the Apple Watch, Samsung Gear and it can do that at a fraction of the price.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/paper-watch2/"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-115097" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/paper-watch2.jpeg?x44794" alt="paper watch" width="620" height="465" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/paper-watch2.jpeg 620w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/paper-watch2-300x225.jpeg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/paper-watch2-160x120.jpeg 160w" sizes="(max-width: 620px) 100vw, 620px" /></a></p>
<p>The cheap wearable device uses flexible sensors sourced from common household items like aluminum foil and sponge which works with silicon-based chip components to create a semi-recyclable fitness device. Because the materials used are cheap, household stuff, the &#8220;paper watch&#8221; itself comes cheap.</p>

Company Files Two New Smartwatch Patents</a></strong></p>
<p>Presently, the paper watch fitness tracker packs an impressive array of capabilities. It is shown to be capable of measuring body temperature, sweat levels, heart rate, and blood pressure. The soft sensor components of the device could eventually be replaced whenever they wear out, while customers keep the rigid chip and battery parts of their wearable device.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/paper-watch/"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-115096" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/paper-watch.jpeg?x44794" alt="paper watch" width="620" height="465" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/paper-watch.jpeg 620w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/paper-watch-300x225.jpeg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/paper-watch-160x120.jpeg 160w" sizes="(max-width: 620px) 100vw, 620px" /></a></p>

<p>The prototype paper watch currently costs $25 USD which is quite cheap, when compared to high-end fitness trackers. But then, the more sturdy and sleek Mi Band 2 comes in even cheaper at around $19.99. The paper watch is still work in progress, though, and the inventors hope to bring down the price further as time progresses. Even though the device cannot show time presently, that is a feature they hope to include in the smart wearable. The inventors hope to spin off a company soon with the device expected later this year, but how well can this fare in an era where Chinese manufacturers are developing cheaper smart wearables with lots of functions is a question that needs to be answered. But the team hopes to target the elderly populace with its cheap product on start up.</p>

<p>The 467 days of development cycle was not just for perfecting its design. The company reveals that the FENwatch has all the basic features of a regular smart wearable inside its unique body. The FENwatch comes with features such as UV monitoring, sleep monitoring, acts management, step tracker, as well as a pedometer which ensures that all the vital health data are being tracked. While this is good, what&#8217;s really the best feature of the FENwatch is its super long 12-month battery life. So, unlike traditional smartwatches, the FENwatch is good to go for nearly one year once its charged completely.</p>

The company even ran out of stock severally as a result of the huge demand for the smart wearable. There have been a few reports of defects on the latest wearable by consumer and one of such complaints is the heart rate monitor on the Xiaomi Mi Band 2 doesn&#8217;t work of persons with dark skin color.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2016/06/02/heres-list-features-new-mi-band-2-wearable/xiaomi-mi-band-2-3/" rel="attachment wp-att-84897"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-84897" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/Xiaomi-Mi-Band-2.jpg?x44794" alt="mi band 2 official" width="634" height="405" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/Xiaomi-Mi-Band-2.jpg 634w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/Xiaomi-Mi-Band-2-300x192.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 634px) 100vw, 634px" /></a></p>
<p>This complaint was spotted in a thread on the MIUI forum. The thread was created in October last year with the title &#8220;<a href="http://en.miui.com/thread-324295-1-1.html">Mi Band 2 Heart Rate measure not working on Black People</a>&#8220;. The thread has garnered a lot of comments from users of the smart band who seem to have similar problem using the Mi band 2. Some of them even acknowledged that when the palm is put under the sensor, it reads the heart rate perfectly. One respondent claimed placing a white piece of paper in between his skin and the sensor was his own quick fix to solving the issue.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2016/08/04/xiaomi-mi-band-2-causing-wrist-burn/xiaomi-band/" rel="attachment wp-att-92353"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-92353" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/xiaomi-band.jpg?x44794" alt="Xiaomi Mi Band 2" width="610" height="406" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/xiaomi-band.jpg 610w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/xiaomi-band-300x200.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center"><strong><span style="color: #ff0000">Related:</span> <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2016/12/16/xiaomi-mi-band-2-new-feature-indoor-run-mode/">Xiaomi Mi Band 2 New Feature Unveiled: Indoor Run Mode</a></strong></p>
<p>Sure, this isn&#8217;t a willful anomaly from Xiaomi or Huami who manufactures the smart band, but is perhaps a software glitch or something. It is very likely it is a software issue as one of the users complained that his own started when he update dthe firmware, while another user claimed his own stopped after updating to the latest firmware version for the Smart band.</p>
<p>Xiaomi has acknowledge that it is aware about the issue and is probably working towards fixing it. Xiaomi Mi Band 2 isn&#8217;t the first wearable to be reported with such problem, though, when Microsoft first launched it Kinect in 2010, similar problem propped up on people with dark skin.</p>
