Xiaomi is reportedly gearing up to enter the AI glasses market, partnering with Goertek for its upcoming wearable, which is expected to debut in the second quarter of 2025. This product launch is speculated to coincide with the Mi Fan Festival in April.

According to sources, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun has set an ambitious goal for the glasses, with expected shipment volumes reaching at least 300,000 units. The new AI glasses reportedly aim to rival Meta’s Ray-Ban models, integrating both AI capabilities and advanced hardware features.

Key features and market positioning

According to the report from “Intelligent Emergence,” Xiaomi’s AI glasses will feature an array of cutting-edge technology-driven modules, including AI integration, audio headphone components, and camera modules, all designed to compete directly with Meta’s high-tech eyewear lineup.

Notably, the new device is likely to fall under the company’s primary brand, marking a significant step in Xiaomi’s expansion within the wearable tech industry.

Other companies such as OPPO, Vivo, Huawei, Tencent, and ByteDance are also exploring possibilities in the AI glasses market, although sources indicate their projects currently remain in earlier developmental stages. Many industry experts expect that these other tech giants will begin launching their AI glasses closer to late 2025.

The competitive landscape in AI and AR glasses

Xiaomi’s move comes as competition in the smart glasses sector heats up, both globally and domestically in China. Meta’s recent AR offering, the Meta Orion, launched in September 2024, boasts cutting-edge AR capabilities and will reportedly enter mass production by 2027.

Meanwhile, other Chinese companies are pushing forward with innovative glasses products of their own. Meizu, for instance, has released multiple smart glasses, while Baidu’s recently introduced “Xiaodu AI Glasses” will hit the market in early 2025 launch.

Xiaomi isn’t new to the smart glasses market though. Earlier this year, the brand introduced its Mijia Smart Audio Glasses, focused primarily on delivering an audio experience through air conduction technology. Priced at a budget-friendly $63, these glasses deliver sound through ultrasonic speakers embedded in the frame, creating a unique audio experience without bulky headphone attachments. You can learn more about the Mijia Smart Audio Glasses here.

As Xiaomi continues to invest in the wearable tech market, its upcoming AI glasses are likely to offer an affordable alternative to premium offerings from Meta and other competitors.

Amazon has quite a large catalogue of products to its name and under the brand but its consumer electronics products include just the Amazon Kindle, Amazon Echo and Fire TV. The Amazon Echo smart speaker is the first product powered by the Alexa voice assistant but now the wearable will be joining the list.

The smart wearable would be designed just like a regular pair of spectacles and will come with wireless connectivity which will allow it to connect to a smartphone wirelessly. Also among its features would be a bone-conduction audio system which would allow the wearer to hear the voice prompt by Alexa even without having a headphone in his or her ears.

Read Also: Lenovo Smart Assistant with Amazon’s Alexa Announced

The rumour speculated that Amazon may be looking to enter the emerging market for “augmented reality” goggles. In addition, what readily comes to mind is Google’s own augmented reality glasses which was discontinued last year but has been re-introduced earlier this year. It may not feature a camera and virtual screen which created a storm of controversy for Google Glass but some of the personnel involved in its development have been closely associated with Google Glass in the past. There are also indications that Magic Leap, Apple and Facebook are working on various headsets that would display digital images in front of the viewer’s eyes.

Amazon is yet to comment on this report nor have they revealed such product is in development.

The wearable device is more popular after CES 2014 in Las Vegas, it’s seems, one of the chip maker company Rockchip is showing off a few concepts for wearable devices featuring its low-power ARM-based chips.

Rockchip is now also ready to producing smartwatch after they already showing off the smartwatch concept in CES 2014, not only that, they also release the Smart glasses and ready to compete with Google Glass in the market soon.

While for now, there is no detail information about the release date, but bith device has been showing of as a concept wearable device in Rockchip boot at CES 2014, both device will be powered by their own Rockchip processor.

The Rockchip’s smart glasses is too bulky and not too comfortable for user, but seems this device is still on conceptstage, so we hope that Rockchip is change their smart glasses design in finishing version for end-user.
Rockchip is also entering the wearable device
The Smart glasses is poered by Rockchip RK3168 ARM Cortex-A9 dual-core processor, sports with 1GB of RAM, 4GB of storage, and has a 1280 x 720 pixel display. The smart glasses is equipped with 802.11n WiFi, Bluetoth 4.0, and running Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS.

As same as other smart glasses device, this version is also has camera, microphone, and poering by 570mAh battery as well as a gyroscope, accelerometer, compass, light and proximity sensors.

Unfortunately, Rockchip didn’t provide detailed specs for its smartwatch, but that also appears to be running an Android-based operating system that’s been customized for a small, wearable display.

CES or also known as Consumer Electronic Show 2014 that already held in Las vegas on January 6th 2014 will becoming the nice event for consumer who want to update their gadget, and one of the chipmaker, Rockchip, this event will use to introduncing their new products.

Rockship is now preparing their first Smart Glasses device, according the Rockchip CMO’s Chen Feng, he said at his microblogging account, they will unveiled the new smart glasses that powered by RK3168 chipset, at CES 2014.

The Smart glasses will powered by RK3168 dual-core processor, running at 1.6GHz clockspeed, and sports with 1GB of RAM and 4GB flash memory. It integrates Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS chip connected to the three upper side, there is a right lens glasses close less than 1.5 inch display screen, the screen and then to the right is a 5 megapixel 1080p camera and stereo speaker output. There are a lot of App icons, small glasses guess this can be installed App, should be customized based on the Android system.

This devices is different with Google glasses. While the Google Glasses is powered by Texas Instruments OMAP 4430 dual-core processor, 1GB RAM, 16GB flash memory, integrated Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB three connections chips and a variety of sensors. Google glasses screen and Rockchip glasses almost great, but it takes projection mode display with a resolution of 640 x 360. It’s on the right side of the screen is a 5 megapixel camera with 720p USB port.

Google glasses can bone conduction via the built-in headset or a USB port to connect the headset to receive the sound emitted by the glasses, and the Rockchip smart glasses directly using the speaker mode. Difference between the two sound output, which led to their use in different occasions. For example, we can use the Google Glasses answer the phone, listen to music, but it is certainly not appropriate Rockchip glasses.
