Smartisan is running a limited time promo that has its phones discounted by as much as ¥700 (~$100). It began yesterday and runs up until the 8th of August.

The deal starts with its flagship phone, the Smartisan R1 which is powered by the Snapdragon 845 processor. The 6GB + 64GB model which usually sells for ¥3499 (~$511) is now priced at ¥2999 (~$438). The 6GB RAM + 128GB version is also selling for ¥3299 (~$482) instead of ¥3999 (~$585). The 8GB RAM version which comes in 128GB, 512GB and 1TB variants have also been discounted.

If you are up for something less expensive, the 4GB + 32GB Smartisan Nut 3 is priced at ¥899 (~$131) down from ¥1299 (~190) while the 64GB version is ¥1199 (~$175) from its original price of ¥1599 (~$234).

The Smartisan Nut Pro 2 has also been discounted which is a great buy since it has a Snapdragon 660 processor. The 4GB + 32GB model is priced at ¥1499 (originally ¥1799), the 4GB + 64GB model is ¥1699 (~$248) from ¥1999 (~$292) and the special edition which has a less powerful Snapdragon 636 processor but 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage is now ¥1498 (~$219) from its original price of ¥1899 (~$278).

ECoinmerce, the world’s first decentralized and tokenized marketplace, has signed a deal with Smartisan to sell the recently announced Smartisan Nut 3 in North America.

Ecoinmerce has also signed deals with about five other manufacturers and retailers to offer their products on the site for sale. The retail platform has a lot of benefits for users (buyers and sellers).

It will allow users buy in groups for larger discounts, grant tokens for buying and writing reviews; charge sellers as low as 0.1% and grant them full ownership of stores. There are many more benefits listed on the official website. The first ICO will take place later this year.

The Smartisan Nut 3 is a mid-range phone powered by a Snapdragon 625 processor. It has a 5.99” FHD+ display, 4GB of RAM and up to 128GB of storage. There are dual 13MP sensors on the rear, an 8MP selfie camera, and a front-mounted fingerprint scanner.

Smartisan Nut 3 was just announced but the first unboxing photos have already surfaced online. In the images, the phones appears in two colors: White and Red, and we can clearly see a premium and unique design. Smartisan has always distinguished from the mass for the original aesthetics of its handsets, and with the Nut 3, it is exactly the same.

Even though it is an affordable midrange, this device has a premium tri-bezel-less design on the front panel. The upper bezel is very narrow, but there is space for the earpiece. On the lower part, you can see a thicker bezel which contains the front camera and a stretched fingerprint reader. On the sides of Smartisan Nut 3, there is an aluminum frame with circular physical keys, while the backplate is made of glass just like most of the best flagship smartphones.

On the top left corner of the back cover, there is a dual camera setup paired with a dual flash LED. Smartisan Nut 3 sports a 5.99-inch Full HD+ display and a big 4000 mAh battery in a just 7.16 thin body. Under the hood, it boasts an octa-core Snapdragon 625 chipset, 4 GB of RAM and 32, 64 or 128 GB of internal storage depending on the chosen configuration. Smartisan has announced its first smartphone of the year today. The Smartisan Nut 3 (U3) was unveiled at an event in Beijing and its specs and price put it firmly in the mid-range category.

Smartisan Nut 3 Design

Smartisan has settled for a new full-screen design for the Nut 3. Unlike the Nut Pro 2 which still has a bezel at the top, it is scraped off on the Nut 3 to give it a tri-bezel-less design.

This new design means the front camera gets a new home and Smartisan has placed it just a few millimeters from the front-mounted fingerprint scanner. Yes, the fingerprint scanner is now in front and not under the logo on the rear.

The rear of the phone is covered in glass just like the front. There are dual cameras at the top left corner with a dual LED flash flanking it on the left. Sitting in the middle is the Smartisan Hammer logo and at the bottom is the manufacturer’s name.

The unique circular physical buttons have not been changed and retain their position. There is another key on the left that can be customized as you wish.

The design is impressive and just like their previous releases from last year, the red is a personal favorite. However, the highlight of the design is that even with a thickness of just 7.16mm, the Nut 3 packs a 4,000mAh battery.

Smartisan Nut 3 Specs

The Smartisan Nut 3 has a 5.99” in-cell display with a 2160 x 1080 resolution and Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It is powered by a Snapdragon 625 processor and comes with 4GB of RAM with 32GB/64GB/128GB of storage.

There are dual 13MP sensors on the rear with support for bokeh images and AI-supported noise reduction. It also has an 8MP selfie camera with a number of beauty effects.

The Smartisan Nut 3 has a hybrid dual SIM slot (nano only, 128GB max.). It is missing a 3.5mm audio jack but has a USB-C. There is a fingerprint scanner that supports WeChat and AliPay payments and can save up to 10 fingerprints. It also has support for Face Unlock.

The Nut 3 packs a 4,000mAh battery with support for Quick Charge 3.0. There is Bluetooth 4.2, dual-band Wi-Fi, GPS, but no NFC.

Smartisan says the phone runs Smartisan OS 4.x but doesn’t mention the version of Android. However, a leaked photo from yesterday revealed that it runs Android 7.1.2 Nougat.

The new OS brings a number of new features such as scene recognition for the camera and a bunch of other new features.

Smartisan Nut 3 Price

The Smartisan Nut 3 comes in five colors – Red Wine, Carbon Black, and Light Gold in addition to special edition red and black variants.

The 4GB + 32GB model is priced at ¥1299 (~$206) and the 4GB +64GB model is priced at ¥1599 (~$253). The special edition variants come with the same configuration above but sell for ¥1499 (~$238) and ¥1799 (~$285) respectively. It also comes in a 4GB + 128GB configuration with a ¥1999 (~$317) price tag.

The Smartisan Nut 3 will go on sale on April 22. It will be available on the official site.

The Smartisan Nut 3 is due to launch tomorrow. Ahead of the event, live photos of the phone have surfaced online. These photos not only give us a look at the phone but also confirm a few specifications.

For the Nut 3, Smartisan is going for a new design. The bezels have been shaved off at the top and bottom but there is a twist. Smartisan has added another thick slab just below the display. This slab is demarcated from the rest of the phone by a thin line and is home to the fingerprint scanner and front camera. We’ll leave the debate of the position of the camera to you.

There are photos that show the Smartisan Nut 3 in black (surprisingly with thicker bezels) and red. However, none of them show the rear of the phone. There are even photos of the retail box for the red variant and the box is actually red too. So, it is safe to assume that each color variant will come with a matching box.

In one of the photos, the phone’s about section is visible and it reveals a few of the specs. The Smartisan 3 will come with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. It is powered by Qualcomm’s MSM8953 a.k.a. Snapdragon 625 and it runs Android 7.1.2 Nougat.

The last two specs are disappointing. The Nut Pro/U2 released last year is powered by the Snapdragon  625. Though there is also a Snapdragon 626 variant. It appears the same will happen again this year – some variants will have a Snapdragon 625 version and others will come with a more powerful chip albeit slightly and with more storage and RAM. We are also disappointed that the Smartisan Nut 3 is running Android Nougat instead of Oreo.

The company usually releases very original devices in terms of aesthetics, and it seems that the upcoming Smartisan Nut 3 will surprise us again, but this time not only for its looks. The company has just published a poster which revealed important details about the aesthetics and the battery life of the handset. According to the poster, the smartphone will be 7.1 mm thin and it will weigh only 137 grams. Even though it will be extremely compact and lightweight, the handset will have a battery which will be able to last 35 hours on a single charge.

Usually, a very big battery is needed to make a smartphone last this long, with more than 4000mAh capacity. But it would be very difficult to include such a big battery in a 7.16 mm thin body and at the same time limit its weight to just 135 grams. So, Smartisan Nut 3 will either be a revolution or a device with a greatly-optimized software. According to reports, Smartisan Nut 3 will come with a Snapdragon 636 SoC, the same as Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro. This chipset is the successor of the Snapdragon 625 and 630, and it is known to be very power-efficient. That is why the long battery life starts to make sense, even though 35 hours remains an unbelievable figure.

The Snapdragon 636 by Qualcomm is said to be paired with 4 GB of RAM and 32, 64, or even 128 GB of internal storage depending on the variant that you will choose to buy. The device should also boast a display with an 18:9 aspect ratio, but it will include a physical Home key with a fingerprint reader embedded. From what rumors suggests, on the rear side there may be a 12 MP dual camera setup. Smartisan Nut 3 is expected to be priced at 1599 Yuan ($253) for the base version and the price is expected to raise up to 1999 Yuan ($316) for the most powerful configuration.

In the previous month, Smartisan had confirmed that it will be holding a launch event on April 9 to announce a new smartphone. The rumor mill had been speculating that the Chinese manufacturer may launch the Smartisan Nut 2 smartphone through the upcoming launch event. However, a new Weibo post from the company confirms that it will be launching the Smartisan Nut 3 on April 9.

A recent Weibo post from the company states that starting from today until 2:30PM on April 14, users can setup sales reminder for the new Smartisan Nut 3 at Smartisan Tech Mall and its official store at JD. Users can receive SMS alerts and stand a chance to win Nut 3 through lucky draw. Smartisan’s official JD store will also provide its fans with a new gift every day.

It is speculated that smartphones with model numbers OC105 and OC106 that had been certified by China’s 3C authority in January are the two variants of the Nut 3. The OC105 was also spotted at TENAA on Feb. 27.

The Snapdragon 636 chipset that is present under the hood of Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 (Chinese edition) and Meizu E3 is speculated to power the Nut 3. As far as appearance is concerned, it is likely to arrive with tri-bezeless design that features a thick bezel at the bottom and narrow bezels at the remaining sides of the display. The bottom bezel is pegged to feature a home button enabled with a fingerprint reader.
