Now, the company has finally made the device official. The T2 flagship was unveiled at the famous Beijing National Convention Center in China yesterday evening.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/smartisan-t2-official-details.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-68449" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/smartisan-t2-official-details.jpg?x10805" alt="smartisan t2 official details" width="440" height="500" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/smartisan-t2-official-details.jpg 440w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/smartisan-t2-official-details-264x300.jpg 264w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/smartisan-t2-official-details-370x420.jpg 370w" sizes="(max-width: 440px) 100vw, 440px" /></a></p>
<p>The design of the phone is similar to the earlier generation, with 2.5D Gorilla Glass 3 glass on both the sides and a metal frame around the body. However, in the new flagship, the back cover isn&#8217;t removable, so you can&#8217;t change the battery. You will also find three physical buttons right below the display, which isn&#8217;t surprising given that we had seen the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2015/12/28/smartisan-t2-leaked-glory-physical-buttons-make-comeback/">same design in yesterday&#8217;s leak.</a> You will find a set of customizable buttons on both the sides, and you can set either one of them as volume keys. One of them even pops out where you can insert the SIM card. Celarly, an interesting design.</p>

<a href='https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/smartisan-t2-announced-03.jpg?x10805'><img width="261" height="500" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/smartisan-t2-announced-03.jpg?x10805" class="attachment-large size-large" alt="" loading="lazy" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/smartisan-t2-announced-03.jpg 261w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/smartisan-t2-announced-03-157x300.jpg 157w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/smartisan-t2-announced-03-219x420.jpg 219w" sizes="(max-width: 261px) 100vw, 261px" /></a>

<p>As for the specs, the Smartisan T2 comes with Qualcomm&#8217;s Snapdragon 808 hexa-core processor with a 5-inch FHD 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution display. There is 3GB RAM on board and 16GB/ 32GB internal storage available. At the back, you will find a 13MP rear camera while up front there&#8217;s a 5MP shooter. The phone supports 4G LTE networks as well. As for the non-removable battery, you get a 2670mAh capacity one at the back. Its not really big as compared to other flagships, but its enough for powering the smartphone for a day.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/smartisan-t2-announced-01.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-68453" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/smartisan-t2-announced-01.jpg?x10805" alt="smartisan t2 announced 01" width="438" height="500" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/smartisan-t2-announced-01.jpg 438w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/smartisan-t2-announced-01-263x300.jpg 263w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/smartisan-t2-announced-01-368x420.jpg 368w" sizes="(max-width: 438px) 100vw, 438px" /></a></p>
<p>The company has also paid attention to the phone&#8217;s sound output, including a separate left and right channel OPA1612 amp chips, with features such as digital filtering for headphones. This should improve the overall sound output, close to Hi-Fi quality.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/smartisan-t2-announced-02.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-68452" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/smartisan-t2-announced-02.jpg?x10805" alt="smartisan t2 announced 02" width="700" height="422" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/smartisan-t2-announced-02.jpg 700w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/smartisan-t2-announced-02-300x181.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/smartisan-t2-announced-02-600x362.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/smartisan-t2-announced-02-697x420.jpg 697w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/smartisan-t2-announced-02-640x386.jpg 640w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/smartisan-t2-announced-02-681x411.jpg 681w" sizes="(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px" /></a></p>
<p>Smartisan has always been praised for their software. In the new version that runs on the T2, namely the Smartisan OS 2.5, you get a lot of new features such as system level video editing, GIF builder, screen recorder, global roaming support, remote assitance etc. There are other features such as Smartisan Read for media content, Smartisan Drive for a simple yet safe driving mode. Both these features are currently in beta stage.</p>
<p>Pricing wise, Smartisan T2 isn&#8217;t really cheap. I mean for a Snapdragon 808 powered smartphone, the phone costs 2499 Yuan ($385) for the 16GB version and 2599 Yuan ($400) for the 32GB version, which is a bit higher than expected.  We have much cheaper options for similar specs like the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2015/10/01/xiaomi-mi-4c-vs-nexus-5x-comparison-guess-who-wins/">Xiaomi Mi 4C </a>or even the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2015/08/28/oneplus-2-review-is-it-really-a-flagship-killer-video/">OnePlus 2</a>!</p>

Thanks to a detailed leak, we now know how the phone looks like.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/hammer-t2-leak-01.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-68357" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/hammer-t2-leak-01.jpg?x10805" alt="hammer t2 leak 01" width="610" height="458" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/hammer-t2-leak-01.jpg 610w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/hammer-t2-leak-01-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/hammer-t2-leak-01-600x450.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/hammer-t2-leak-01-559x420.jpg 559w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/hammer-t2-leak-01-80x60.jpg 80w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/hammer-t2-leak-01-100x75.jpg 100w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/hammer-t2-leak-01-180x135.jpg 180w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/hammer-t2-leak-01-238x178.jpg 238w" sizes="(max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px" /></a></p>
<p>According to the pictures that were leaked yesterday, the upcoming Smartisan T2 flagship smartphone will still use 2.5D glass, both on the front as well as the back. You can see a metal frame around the body and the overall body could be made out of plastic. Interestingly, this particular device will feature three physical buttons up front, right below the display. So, you have the home button, the menu button as well as the back key.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/hammer-t2-leak-02.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-68356" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/hammer-t2-leak-02.jpg?x10805" alt="hammer t2 leak 02" width="610" height="458" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/hammer-t2-leak-02.jpg 610w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/hammer-t2-leak-02-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/hammer-t2-leak-02-600x450.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/hammer-t2-leak-02-559x420.jpg 559w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/hammer-t2-leak-02-80x60.jpg 80w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/hammer-t2-leak-02-100x75.jpg 100w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/hammer-t2-leak-02-180x135.jpg 180w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/hammer-t2-leak-02-238x178.jpg 238w" sizes="(max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px" /></a></p>
<p>Another interesting thing revealed by these images is that the Smartisan T2 may not feature a fingerprint sensor. The back is clean, and the home button up front doesn&#8217;t look like it has a fingerprint sensor. So, unlike other flagship smartphones, it looks like Smartisan is skipping this feature on its upcoming device.</p>

<p>Earlier today, Smartisan T2 flagship posters were leaked on the Chinese social networking website Weibo, confirming the phone&#8217;s design. As you can see from the pictures, the design seems to be quite similar to the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2014/05/21/smartisan-t1-phone-hands-on-pictures/">Smartisan T1 </a>that was launched around March last year. The phone was out of the ordinary at that time, considering it focused on the high-end segment unlike other Chinese competitors.</p>

<p>Looks like the company is following the same tradition here but with cheaper price tag. The phone is said to come with 2.5D curved glass front with three buttons right below the display. The overall body looks quite robust with smooth curved corners, much like its predecessor.</p>
<p>Specs, wise, you can expect the same 5-inch display as the T1 with FHD 1080p display and a new generation of Gorilla Glass protection. The company has reportedly reduced the weight to 146 grams and the overall measurements are said to be as follows: 144.55 x 0.84 x 7.53mm. Unlike earlier rumors which said that we will see the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2015/08/10/the-smartisan-t2-will-feature-the-snapdragon-820-soc-instead-of-the-810/">quad-core Snapdragon 820 inside</a>, the phone will most likely feature, the six-core Snapdragon 808 chipset with 3GB RAM.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/smartisan-t2-tenaa-leaked-01.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-67009" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/smartisan-t2-tenaa-leaked-01.jpg?x10805" alt="smartisan-t2-tenaa-leaked-01" width="480" height="640" /></a></p>
<p>As for the camera, you can expect a 13MP shooter at the back and a 5MP front-facing one. The battery is said to be of just 2500mAh, which if true will be a bit disappointing. But there&#8217;s QC 2.0. While these specs are good, what we are really looking forward to see is the Smartisan OS 2.5 based on Android 5.1.1. The previous generation OS managed to be simple yet attractive, and we hope the company continues with the same philosophy on the version, i.e. the Smartisan OS 2.5.</p>
<p>The first generation Smartisan T2 retailed for around $480, which was a lot to ask for a first-time company from China. However, the new Smartisan T2 is said to be relatively cheap, retailing for a price tag of around 1999 Yuan which comes to just $308.</p>
<p>Well, let&#8217;s see what the company has in store for us at the December 29 event. Stay tuned!</p>

While the company has been revealing<a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2015/08/24/qualcomm-details-new-hexagon-860-dsp-in-snapdragon-820/"> more details about the chip every week</a>, Qualcomm China president Mr. Meng revealed that at present there are about 30 different phones that are going to use Snapdragon 820 chipset. So, there will be a lot of smartphones that will hit the markets in the first half of 2016 with this powerful chip.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/snapdragon-820-kryo-cpu.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-57997" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/snapdragon-820-kryo-cpu.jpg?x10805" alt="snapdragon-820-kryo-cpu" width="344" height="379" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/snapdragon-820-kryo-cpu.jpg 344w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/snapdragon-820-kryo-cpu-272x300.jpg 272w" sizes="(max-width: 344px) 100vw, 344px" /></a></p>
<p>This year, many companies decided to go with the slightly slower Snapdragon 808 or Mediatek chipset for their flagship devices, to avoid any heating related issues. But before that, Qualcomm&#8217;s flagship Snapdragon range have always been the chip that powered flagships. If the Snapdragon 820 is as good as we have heard till now, there will be a lot of phones in the market with this new SoC soon. Mr. Meng&#8217;s comments itself proves this point.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/pan-jiutang-snapdragon-820.png?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-58446" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/pan-jiutang-snapdragon-820.png?x10805" alt="pan jiutang snapdragon 820" width="599" height="527" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/pan-jiutang-snapdragon-820.png 599w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/pan-jiutang-snapdragon-820-300x264.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/pan-jiutang-snapdragon-820-477x420.png 477w" sizes="(max-width: 599px) 100vw, 599px" /></a></p>
<p>Now, if this is the case, many manufacturers, from China as well as other countries will try to be the first ones to boast of using this chip. And according to Pan Jiutang, the IHS analyst, it will most likely be Xiaomi, atleast in China. The second possible candidate is Smartisan, but he is not sure of that at the moment.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/xiaomi-logo.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-43121" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/xiaomi-logo.jpg?x10805" alt="xiaomi-logo" width="630" height="313" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/xiaomi-logo.jpg 630w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/xiaomi-logo-300x149.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 630px) 100vw, 630px" /></a></p>
<p>If Xiaomi is indeed going to release the first Snapdragon 820 powered smartphone, it should be for none other than its upcoming flagship Xiaomi Mi5. Its been more than a year since we saw the Mi4 flagship and some rumors claim that the company is waiting for the launch of the new Snapdragon 820 chipset. So it makes sense to put the best chip inside the new company flagship. And if Smartisan is joining the likes of Xiaomi, it should be for its new<a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2015/08/10/the-smartisan-t2-will-feature-the-snapdragon-820-soc-instead-of-the-810/"> Smartisan T2 flagship</a>.</p>
<p>Well, these are just speculations at this moment based on the information that&#8217;s available right now. But if Xiaomi Mi5 does come with Snapdragon 820, expect a launch only around November-December 2015.</p>
<p>Do you think Snapdragon 820 will help Qualcomm win back the trust of the customers in the high-end segment?</p>
