The affordable Vivo Y12A has been launched in Singapore and Thailand. It is a new addition to Vivo’s Y12 family that includes Vivo Y12, Vivo Y12i, Vivo Y12s, and Vivo Y12s 2021. The Y12A that has gone official in the above-mentioned markets appears to be a rebadged version of the Y12s 2021, which debuted in Vietnam last month.

Xiaomi unveiled the Redmi 8A Dual smartphone in India back in February. The entry-level phone has an updated version of the Redmi 8A that debuted last year in September. A fresh report on 91mobiles claims that the South Korean company has planned to launch the Galaxy M11 in India in the first week of June. The report also states that the Galaxy M01 entry-level smartphone in India to rival with the likes of Redmi 8A and Realme C3.

The publication has also shared some leaked promo images that contain the renders and specifications of the Galaxy M01. The Redmi 8 brings a number of improvements over its predecessor, the Redmi 7. However, it comes with a Snapdragon 439 processor which is less powerful than the Snapdragon 632 chipset in the Redmi 7. General Manager of Redmi, Lu Weibing, has explained why they settled for the Snapdragon 400 series processor.

In the Weibo post, he said they carried out a survey before the release of the Redmi 8 to find out which features matter most to users. The result of the survey showed that battery life, smooth and fast experience, and a high-quality build ranked highest. Redmi decided to focus on these points for its next phones.

The result is the Redmi 8 (and Redmi 8A) having a 5000mAh battery capacity with a standby time of 31 days; addition of a USB Type-C port; and support for 18W fast charging allowing for the device to be fully charged in 2 hours.

For smoother operation, they canceled the 2GB RAM version. They also included Mi Turbo 2.0 to speed things up and added a better memory cleaning solution. Redmi says that based on their simulation, the Redmi 8 will have only slowed down by 35% after 24 months of use.

Coming down to the processor, Redmi says even though its a Snapdragon 400 series chipset, its performance is near similar to that of the Snapdragon 625. The post even includes AnTuTu benchmark results comparing the Redmi 6 Pro (SD625) and Redmi 8 (SD439). Mr. Weibing explains that the Snapdragon 439 is able to achieve similar performance to the Snapdragon 625 because it is a 12nm chipset, and with Mi Turbo onboard, users will get a fast and smooth experience.

He concludes by saying those who are concerned about performance can purchase the Redmi 7 or Redmi Note 8 which has a Snapdragon 665 processor and those who want a better battery life should get the Redmi 8A or Redmi 8.

Redmi has today confirmed through a Weibo post that it will be announcing the Redmi 8 series on October 14.  The unveil event will take place at 3PM (local time) on the said date. It is likely that the Redmi 8 and Redmi 8A smartphones that have recently gone official in India will be made official in China on Monday. The other reason both phones are expected to launch together is that these devices have already certification from TENAA telecom authority of China.

To celebrate selling 100 million phones in just 5 years of its existence in India, Xiaomi is offering the first 5 million units of the 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage edition of the Redmi 8 for Rs. 7,999 (~$112). From Oct. 12, the Redmi 8 will be available from 00:01 hours midnight on Mi.com, Hi Home and Flipkart.

Xiaomi’s Global VP and Managing Director for India, Manu Kumar Jain confirmed that the company will be launching the Redmi Note 8 series in India on Oct. 16.

The launch of the Redmi 8 series around the corner. Redmi General Manager Lu Weibing has recently started teasing the arrival of the Redmi 8A smartphone. The Redmi 8 that has a model number of M1908C3IC had appeared on TENAA with its entire specifications. Yesterday, a listing of the phone had appeared on the website of China Telecom. At the same time, the smartphone was also found listed on Google Play Console. These appearances suggest that the arrival of the Redmi 8 smartphone is drawing near.

The Google Play Console listing of the Redmi 8 has revealed few specs of the phone. It states that its display offers HD+ resolution of 720 x 1520 pixels and 320 ppi pixel density. Like China Telecom listing, it reveals that the Snapdragon 439 mobile platform is present under the hood of the Redmi 8 along with 3 GB of RAM. The SD439 also fuels the Redmi 8A smartphone. It states that the phone is loaded with Android 9 Pie OS. The other details of the phone were not mentioned in its Google Play Console listing.

Xiaomi had announced the Redmi 7A smartphone in China just over a month ago. The entry-level Xiaomi phone is now on its way to Europe. It is expected to be priced around 100 euros (~$112). The smartphone could be available in European markets starting from June 21. However, dealers in Europe may start the sales of the phone from the coming month.

Xiaomi Redmi 7A Specifications

The Redmi 7A that measures 9.6mm in thickness and weighs 165 grams comes with a polycarbonate with splash-resistant coating. It is fitted with a 5.45-inch notch-less display that is surrounded by thick bezels. It supports HD+ resolution of 720 x 1440 pixels and an aspect ratio of 18:9.

Today, Redmi silently took off covers from the Redmi 7A entry-level phone. It has arrived with a tall aspect ratio display, Snapdragon 439 and an AI powered rear camera.

Redmi 7A Specifications and Features

The Redmi 7A comes with a polycarbonate chassis with P2i nano-coating for splash-resistance. The Chinese firm has protected the SIM card tray, microUSB port and audio jack of the phone with rubber sleeves so that water does not seep inside it easily. The handset measures 146.30 x 70.41 x 9.55mm and weighs 150 grams.

The smartphone features a 5.45-inch IPS LCD display with 18:9 aspect ratio. It carries support for HD+ resolution of 720 x 1440 pixels. Redmi has not disclosed the price tag of Redmi 7A. The company will be announcing it on May 28, the day when it unveils the Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro flagship phones.

The Redmi 7 models such as 2GB RAM + 16GB storage, 3GB RAM + 32GB storage and 4GB RAM + 64GB storage are respectively priced at 699 Yuan (~$116), 799 Yuan (~$130) and 899 Yuan (~$144). Hence, there is a possibility that the Redmi 7A may hit the market with a price tag of 599 Yuan (~$86) like the Redmi 6A phone from last year. Vivo has recently launched the Vivo Y17 smartphone in India. Recent reports have revealed that the Vivo Y15 is an upcoming Y-series from the company. Hisense has confirmed through its Weibo account that it will be hosting a launch event on April 3 in China. The teaser video shared by the company suggests that it may launch a smartphone with punch-hole display. Hence, it appears that the company may announce the Hisense U30 that was showcased at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2019 in January and Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2019 in February. The smartphone was recently certified by the TENAA authority of China.

The above shown teaser has no information on the name of the phone that may get announced through Hisense’s April 3 event. There is a possibility that the apart from launching the Hisense U30, the Chinese firm may also debut some another phone. Recently, the Hisense HLTE216M / HLTE216T phone was also approved by the TENAA body. It is the very same phone that was showcased as Hisense Rock V.

Nokia 3.2 Specifications and Price

It is the first mainstream smartphone after the Alcatel 3L phone to arrive with a Snapdragon 429 processor paired with 2GB or 3GB of RAM. The handset is fueled by a 4,000mAh battery.

A dual camera setup is available on the backside of the phone. It includes f/2.2 autofocus enabled 13-megapixel main sensor and a 2-megapixel secondary sensor. For capturing selfies, it has a front-facing camera of 8-megapixel. It is equipped with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and has support for face unlock. There is a dedicated Google Assistant key and a notification LED is baked into the power button just like on the Nokia 3.2. The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications (NBTC) body of Thailand has approved a new phone named Vivo Y91C with model number Vivo 1820. Since the company has already launched the Vivo Y91 phone in Thailand, it appears that the Vivo Y91C is a new variant of the same phone.

The Vivo Y91 smartphone that was launched in countries like Thailand, Malaysia and India are all powered by MediaTek Helio P22 chipset and 3 GB of RAM. It comes with an internal storage of 64 GB. The smartphone had first launched in Philippines in November 2018. The variant that hit the Philippines market was powered by Snapdragon 439 along with 3 GB of RAM. It had landed in Philippines in 32 GB and 64 Gb storage choices.

The Chinese manufacturer had launched the 16 GB storage + 2 GB RAM edition of the same phone as Vivo Y91i smartphone in December 2018 in Philippines. The Vivo Y91iv was also introduced in Thailand with 16 GB storage and 2 GB of RAM. However, it was powered by MediaTek Helio P22 SoC. Hence, the Vivo Y91C that will be releasing in Thailand in the near future could be either the Snapdragon 439 edition of the phone.

The Vivo Y91 and Y91i phones only different in RAM and storage capacities and the rest of their specs are same. The Vivo Y91 features a 6.22-inch waterdrop-style notched screen that produces HD+ resolution of 720 x 1520 pixels. The FunTouch OS 4.4 based Android 8.1 Oreo OS is preloaded on the device.

The backside of the phone features 13-mepagpixel + 2-megapixel dual camera and a fingerprint scanner. The front notch is fitted with an 8-megapixel selfie camera. It receives power from 4,030mAh battery.

Vivo Thailand has also certified Vivo V15 and Vivo V15 Pro smartphones. Hence, there is a possibility that these phones could be soon heading to Thailand. Vivo Y93s is yet another entry-level smartphone from the company that has gone official in China. In fact, it is a different chipset variant of the Vivo Y93 smartphone that was announced in China in the previous month. It also comes with higher internal storage. The rest of the specifications of the new Vivo smartphone are same as Y93.

Vivo Y93s Specifications and Features

The Vivo Y93s measures 155.11 x 75.09 x 8.28mm and it weighs 163.5 rams. It is fitted with a 6.2-inch waterdrop notch screen. The IPS LCD panel produces HD+ resolution of 720 x 1520 pixels and an aspect ratio of 19:9.

The Snapdragon 439 chipset is present under the hood of the Vivo Y93 phone along with 4 GB of RAM. It has an inbuilt storage of 64 GB. The newly announced Vivo Y93s phone has MediaTek MT6762 (Helio P22). The SoC is coupled with 4 GB of RAM. It carries a larger internal storage of 128 GB. Users can add up to 256 GB of microSD card on the Vivo Y93s.

The Vivo Y93s promises long-lasting performance through its 4,030mAh battery. However, there is no support for fast charging on the device. The Android 8.1 Oreo OS customized with FunTouch OS 4.5 UI is preloaded on the smartphone. Vivo has also included its gaming mode feature on the device.

The rear side of the Vivo Y93s features a vertical camera module. It includes a primary sensor of 13-megapixel with f/2.2 aperture and a secondary sensor of 2-megapixel with f/2.4 aperture. For capturing selfies, the handset is equipped with a frontal shooter of 8-megapixel with f/1.8 aperture. The Vivo Y93s lacks a fingerprint reader. The front camera enabled with face recognition feature can be used for unlocking the device.

Vivo Y93s Pricing and Release Date

The Vivo Y93s has landed with a price tag of 1,698 Yuan (~$245) in China. The Vivo Y93 is a cheaper device that is now selling with a price tag of 1,499 (~$217).

Currently, Vivo is selling only the Aurora Red and Zixia Red gradient color variants through its online store. In the near future, it will be also selling its Starry Night Black and Aurora Blue gradient color models. There is no word on the international availability of the Vivo Y93s.

Earlier this month, Vivo had launched the Vivo Y95 smartphone in Philippines. On Nov. 26, the same smartphone was introduced in India. The Vivo Y95 comes with a waterdrop notch screen and it is packed with a decent battery. The handset has landed in India with a price tag of Rs. 16,990 (~$240).

Vivo Y95 Specifications and Features

The Vivo Y95 features a 6.22-inch IPS LCD screen. The waterdrop notched dubbed as Halo FullView display by Vivo carries support for HD+ resolution of 720 x 1520 pixels.

The Snapdragon 439 chipset is present under the hood of the Vivo Y95. The SoC is supported by 4 GB of RAM. The internal storage of the device is 64 GB. It also features a microSD card slot for more storage.

In terms of photography, the Vivo Y95 is fitted with an LED enabled dual camera setup that includes a 13-megapixel primary sensor and a 2-megapixel secondary sensor. On the front is an impressive 20-megapixel selfie camera with is equipped with AI for detecting age, skin tone, gender and more for capturing beautified selfie shots. The Y95 also supports AR stickers. The front camera of the phone carries support for face unlock.

The FunTouch OS 4.0 flavored Android 8.1 Oreo comes preinstalled on the Vivo Y95.It features AI Game Mode for disturbance free gaming experience. A fingerprint scanner resides on the back panel of the phone. It is packed with a decently battery of 4,030mAh battery, but there is no support for fast charging. The usual connectivity features such as dual SIM support, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, microUSB 2.0 and 3.5mm audio jack are also available on the Vivo Y95.

Vivo Y95 Pricing and Availability

The Vivo Y95 that is priced at Rs. 16,990 is now available for purchase through multiple platforms such as Vivo India’s online store, Flipkart, Amazon, Paytm and partnered offline stores. It can be availed in color gradient options like Starry Night Black and Nebula Purple.

The Y95 handset is available for purchase through no cost EMI offer in India. Paytm is providing cashback of Rs. 1,500 to the buyers of Y95. Reliance Jio is also providing benefits worth Rs. 4,000 as well as free data of 3 TB.

Last week, the Vivo Y95 was seen on Geekbench, appearing on the site as the “vivo vivo 1807”. Another Vivo phone with a similar model number has been seen on the benchmark site again and we think it may also belong to the Y-series.

The device appears on the benchmarking site as the “vivo vivo 1817”. It runs Android 8.1 Oreo and has a 1.96GHz processor that is unspecified just like that of the Vivo Y95. The benchmark scores are also quite similar. However, it has just 2GB of RAM.

We believe the Vivo 1817 is a less-powerful version of the Vivo Y95 with less RAM but the same Snapdragon 439 processor. There is also the possibility of it being a different model entirely.

The Vivo Y95 launched in The Philippines earlier this week. It has a 6.22-inch HD+ screen, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. It also has dual rear cameras (13MP + 2MP), a 20MP selfie camera, a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, and a 4,030mAh battery.

Vivo has recently launched the Vivo Y97 in China. In the recent past, India had received the Vivo Y93 smartphone. Today, the Chinese manufacturer has silently announced the Vivo Y95 smartphone in Philippines. The Vivo Y95 is said to be the successor of the Vivo Y83 smartphone. In terms of specs, the handset slots itself between the Vivo Y93 and Vivo Y95 smartphones.

Vivo Y95 Specifications and Features

The Vivo Y95 is fitted with a 6.22-inch notched IPS LCD screen. It produces HD+ resolution of 720 x 1520 pixels. The handset was speculated to feature the MediaTek Helio P22 SoC, but publications from Philippines are claiming that it is powered by Snapdragon 439 SoC which is also present under the hood of the Vivo Y93 phone.

The SoC of the Vivo Y95 is coupled with 4 GB of RAM. It has an internal storage of 64 GB. The Vivo Y93 is also equipped with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of native storage. The newly announced Vivo phone also features a microSD card slot for more storage. Like the Vivo Y93, the Y95 is also backed by a 4,030mAh battery.

The Vivo Y95 features 13-megapixel + 2-megapixel dual camera setup. Again, the same configuration dual camera module is present on the Y93 phone. Instead of the 8-megapixel front-facing camera, the Y95 is blessed with a 20-megapixel selfie shooter that is equipped with AI capabilities and face beauty. The FunTouch OS 4.5 UI based Android 8.1 Oreo OS comes preloaded on the phone. The front camera of the phone can be used for face unlock function. A fingerprint reader is also available on the backside of the smartphone.

Vivo Y95 Pricing and Release Date

The Vivo Y95 is now available for buying Vivo shops across Philippines and also through partnered online stores. The handset carries a price tag of 13,999 PHP (~$262). The handset comes in color gradient choices like Starry Night Black and Aurora Red.

There is no confirmation on the other markets that will be receiving the Vivo Y95 phone. The smartphone is expected to arrive in India. It is expected to be priced under Rs. 15,000 (~$206).

A recent report has revealed that Vivo may soon release Vivo Y95 smartphone in November as a successor for the Vivo 83 phone. A China Telecom website listing for the Vivo Y93 suggests that China will be also receiving this new Y-series smartphone in the coming month. The listing suggests that it could be the first smartphone to feature the new Snapdragon 439 mobile platform that was announced in June this year.

A Vivo phone with variants V1818A and V1818T was spotted with full specifications on the website of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) and TENAA, the Chinese telecom authority. However, these listings had not revealed the product name of the device. The China Telecom listing of the Vivo V1818A reveals that it will be arriving in China as Vivo Y93 smartphone.

Qualcomm had launched Snapdragon 429, Snapdragon 439 and Snapdragon 632 mobile platforms in June. The Honor 8C and Meizu Note 8 are the first phones to arrive with Snapdragon 632. Phones powered by other two SoCs have not released yet. The SD439 is a 14nm chipset that includes Adreno 505 graphics and 1.9 GHz quad cores of Cortex A53 and 1.45 GHz quad cores of Cortex A53.

Coming back to Vivo Y93, the SoC of the smartphone will be coupled with 4 GB of RAM. It will be equipped with an internal storage of 64 GB. The handset is expected to release in China on Nov. 15 with a price tag of 1,598 Yuan (~$230). It will be arriving Zixia Red and Starry Night Black colors.

A waterdrop notch screen of 6.2 inches is available on the Vivo Y93 smartphone. The display carries support for HD+ resolution of 720 x 1520 pixels. The handset is packed with a 3,935mAh battery. There is no confirmation on whether the phone carries support for fast charging. Also, the handset does not seem to feature a fingerprint scanner. So, the users of Y95 could be only relying on face unlock feature for unlocking it.

The Vivo Y93 is loaded with Android 8.1 Oreo OS. Apart from internal storage, it offers additional space for storing contents through microSD card slot. There is a selfie camera of 8-megapixel on the device. The rear panel of the phone is equipped with 13-megapixel + 2-megapixel dual camera setup.

After introducing the Snapdragon 710 SoC for upper mid-range phones, Qualcomm has today introduced Snapdragon 632, Snapdragon 439 and Snapdragon 429 mobile platforms that will be seen in forthcoming mid-range and low-budget phones. The Snapdragon 600 and 400 series of chipsets are immensely popular as they power over 3,650 commercial devices till date. Hence, the U.S. based chipset maker has announced the Snapdragon 632, 439 and 432 SoCs.

Snapdragon 632

The 14nm Snapdragon 632 mobile platform includes an octa-core processor that comprises of quad Kryo 250 performance cores that clock at 1.8 GHz and quad Kryo 250 efficiency cores that work at 1.8 GHz. The SD632 promises 40 percent better performance over the Snapdragon 626. Includes Adreno 605 graphics and X9 LTE modem. It is enabled with support for FHD+ displays. It supports a single camera of 24-megpaixel or a pair of 13-megapixel sensors. Smartphones powered by Snapdragon 632 can support camera features such as real-time bokeh, wide-angle photo shooting and 4K video capturing. The SD632 also offers its users with dual 4G VoLTE.

Snapdragon 439

Designed for low-end phones, the Snapdragon 439 is a 12nm chipset that include quad cores of Cortex A53 that clocks at 1.9 GHz and quad cores of Cortex A53 that functions at 1.45 GHz. The SoC also includes Adreno 505 graphics and X6 LTE modem. Its other features are dual 4G VoLTE, up to 21-megapixel single camera, up to 8-megapixel dual camera and support for FHD+ displays. The Snapdragon 439 can deliver 25 percent better performance than Snapdragon 430.

Snapdragon 429

The Snapdragon 429 is a 12nm SoC which includes a quad-core Cortex A53 processor that produces a clocking speed of 1.95 GHz. The Adreno 504 graphics and X6 LTE modem are present inside the modest SD429 SoC. It is enabled with support for HD+ display. The other features of this chipset are dual 4G VoLTE, up to 16-megapixel single camera and up to 8-megapixel dual camera. The Snapdragon 429 can perform 25 percent better than Snapdragon 425.

The Snapdragon 632, 439 and 429 mobile platforms are all equipped with multiple security solutions and also carry support mobile payments, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Evolved Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Services (eMBMS). Also, the new chipsets are designed to consume less power and offer efficient battery performance. Smartphones powered by Snapdragon 632, 439 and 429 are expected to debut in the second half of the year. Recently, popular tipster Roland Quandt had claimed that forthcoming Android Go devices will be powered by Snapdragon 439 and 429 chipsets.

The Snapdragon 425 has been the go-to chipset for manufacturers when making entry-level phones. Even though it has been two years since it was announced along with the Snapdragon 625 and Snapdragon 435, it is still showing up in devices. However, both the 425 and 435 will be getting upgrades soon in form of the Snapdragon 429 and Snapdragon 439 processors.

According to Roland Quandt, Qualcomm will announce the Snapdragon 429 and Snapdragon 439 mobile platforms. He adds in the tweet that info is unavailable on the SD429 but the SD439 will be a variant of the SD625.

Now, we are not so excited about the SD439 since the Snapdragon 450 is practically an underclocked Snapdragon 625. So it seems Qualcomm is again recycling its old chipset. However, we’ll wait for an official announcement to see what differs between the three chipsets.

Mr. Quandt says the new chipsets will be targeted at Android Go phones but won’t be exclusive to them. We should see manufacturers like ASUS, Xiaomi, and Meizu use it for their other devices running their own skinned version of Android.

There is no release date yet but there is a chance it won’t be far off.
