According to the report, the Jio Phone 5G is codenamed “Ganga” and has the model number “LS1654QB5”. The device is expected to have a 6.5-inch HD+ LCD screen with a refresh rate of 90Hz. The Snapdragon 480 processor, which is Qualcomm’s entry-level 5G SoC, powers the device. This processor will be paired with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage.

The device is also said to have a 5,000mAh battery with 18W fast charging support. The device also has a dual rear camera setup on the back, with a 13MP main camera and a 2MP secondary lens. For optics, it is expected to have an 8MP camera on the front. The operating system will be based on Android 12, and because it is expected to have 4GB of RAM, we can expect the full version of Android OS rather than the Android Go Edition. Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 5.1, and a Syntiant NDP115 always-on AI processor are also included.

Considering these leaks, the Jio Phone 5G appears to be a decent entry-level 5G device at the Rs 8,000-12,000 price point.

Though, the company is still trying its best to keep the business afloat. In fact, it even saw significant growth in recent years, thanks to its “Make premium looking cheap phones” strategy. Now it appears that Finish smartphone maker is coming back with the same plan in 2022. As per a report, Nokia Mobile will launch many Nokia X and G series 5G smartphones powered by Snapdragon 480 Plus processor in 2022.

Nokiapoweruser, citing sources, has reported that Nokia Mobile is set to launch new Nokia X and G series 5G smartphones in the second half of this year. Many of these smartphones are believed to feature the Snapdragon 480 Plus 5G processor under the hood.

Nokia G21 Nordic Blue

The moniker of the upcoming X-series smartphones is yet to be known. However, the smartphones may carry support for a 120 Hz refresh rate. Even the premium G-series smartphones could offer a 120 Hz display, says the report.

It is expected that the forthcoming series of smartphones may include the Nokia XR21, Nokia X21, and Nokia X11.

As mentioned above, the handsets will likely be powered by a Snapdragon 480 Plus 5G processor which is an upgrade of the Snapdragon 480 launched in 2021. Although, the “Plus” SoC does not have much to offer except for a 200 MHz higher clocked A76 cores and Bluetooth 5.2 VS 5.1 support. The processor won’t be too big of a problem as long as the prices are competitive.

In related news, Nokia was the second top feature phone vendor in Q1 2022 after iTel. The Nokia 105 became the most sold feature phone in Q1 2022. The HMD-owned company witnessed an 87% increase in revenue in North America while Western Europe recorded a decent 37% growth YoY.

AGM G1 and AGM G1 Pro Design

The two phones share a similar design but there are subtle differences that distinguish them apart. AGM says it has designed a new modular chassis for the phones which allows them to be moded.

The two phones have a waterdrop notch for the front-facing camera and a thick bottom bezel. On the back is a big round protrusion for the gigantic speaker it packs. The cameras and LED flash are arranged around this protrusion while a fingerprint scanner sits below.

The AGM G1 differs from the AGM G1 Pro with respect to the orange accent on the latter. This accent can be seen around the display, on the back, and on the corners of the phone.

It is important to mention that these are rugged phones with big batteries, so they are not lightweight. The AGM G1 weighs 360 grams while the pro model is 10 grams heavier.

AGM G1 and AGM G1 Pro specifications

The AGM G1 and AGM G1 Pro both have a 6.53-inch FHD+ LCD display. While it doesn’t say the type of protection available on the screens, AGM claims that it offers diamond-grade resistance. There is also glove support and the phone will continue to work at a temperature range between -30°C and 60°C. It can even operate for about half an hour when the temperature drops to -40°C.

Powering both phones is the Snapdragon 480 5G processor paired with 8GB RAM and 256GB of storage. There is support for storage expansion for users that need more space for apps and files.

The cameras on the phones are a 48MP main sensor, a 20MP Night Vision camera, and a 2MP macro camera. The phone can take clear and sharp photos in the dark thanks to the infrared night vision camera. This camera is also useful for detecting hidden cameras. However, only the pro model has support for thermal imaging. Both devices have a 16MP front-facing camera.

The AGM G1 series has a 3.5W speaker with an amplitude of 112dB. There is also a Smart PA that ensures the sound output is clear and not distorted. Another feature both phones have is a one-key rangefinder positioned at the top for measuring the distance between two positions.

AGM says both phones not only have an IP68 MAX rating but also an IP69K rating which is for protection against high temperature and high-pressure water. They are also MIL-STD-810H certified.

There is a massive 6200mAh battery inside each phone and they ship with an 18W power adapter. Both the AGM G1 and AGM G1 Pro run X OS 6 based on Android 11 out of the box.

AGM G1 Series Price and Availability

The Snapdragon 480 is Qualcomm’s cheapest 5G processor and we have seen it appear in a lot of budget, mid-range, and frankly expensive devices too such as the Nokia XR20 which is priced at ₹46,999 ($638) in India. Thankfully, the TCL Tab Pro 5G isn’t as expensive.

The tablet packs a 10.36-inch NXTVISION display with a 1200 x 2000 resolution and HDR. The bezels are not slim but they are fine for a tablet this size. The corners are rounded and should make it comfortable to hold, although a tablet this size is not one you want to be holding in your hands for long.

The Snapdragon 480 5G is paired with 4GB of RAM and there is 64GB of storage that can be expanded via a MicroSD card slot (1TB max). There is a 13MP camera on the back along with an LED flash while the front-facing camera is an 8MP sensor. TCL has added a fingerprint scanner to the tablet and it is buried under the power button. There is also Face Unlock.

The TCL TAB Pro 5G has Hi-Res dual speakers but no audio jack which is disappointing. The tablet runs Android 11 out of the box. It also has support for mmWave and Sub-6GHz 5G networks. There a five pogo pins at the bottom of the device which may be for attaching to a keyboard accessory.

The tablet packs an 8000mAh battery that should last up to 17 hours based on usage. It charges via USB-C and has support for 18W fast charging. It also supports reverse charging

The tablet will be sold exclusively by Verizon for $399 and it is already available for purchase.

You’d expect that any product announcement it has planned will be unveiled on that day but that isn’t the case as the manufacturer has unveiled a new smartphone today – the Nokia G50.

The Nokia G50 is the fourth smartphone from Nokia to be powered by the Snapdragon 480 5G chipset, the other three being the Nokia X10, Nokia X20, and the Nokia XR20 rugged phone. It is also the first of the Nokia G-series to have 5G support.

The new smartphone has the Nordic design we have seen HMD Global use for its other phones. The back is flat but curves at the edges and at the middle is a cookie-shaped camera housing that is home to three rear cameras.

The main rear camera is a 48MP sensor with autofocus and it comes with a 5MP ultrawide angle camera and a 2MP depth sensor. Camera features include selfie video stabilization, watermarking, and Super Night Selfie.

The Snapdragon 480 5G processor is paired with 4GB or 6GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB of storage. There is support for storage expansion via a MicroSD card that allows for up to an extra 512GB of storage.

There is a fingerprint scanner buried under the power key and you can use Face Unlock if you prefer that. The phone also has a dedicated Google Assistant key, an audio jack, and an FM radio. There is a 5000mAh battery under the hood with support for 18W fast charging via a USB-C port. The Nokia G50 has NFC, Bluetooth 5.0, and WiFi 6.

With a launch price of $399, $100 more than the 4G Moto G Stylus announced at CES 2021, the Moto G Stylus 5G justifies that price increase in a number of significant ways. It also has a different design – sporting a cooker-style camera layout instead of the elongated layout of the 4G model.

The device has the same 6.8-inch FHD+ Max Vision Display with a hole punch at the top left corner of the screen as the 4G version. While the 4G version has 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, Motorola ships this model with 6GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. There is still support for storage expansion too via a MicroSD card slot (1TB max.).

The phone keeps the 48MP primary camera, 8MP ultrawide angle camera, and 2MP depth camera of the 4G version but replaces the 2MP macro sensor with a 5MP one. The 16MP front-facing camera is unchanged too. Motorola has also brought its spot color photo feature to videos too, so you can record a video and have only one color visible while the others are black and white. There is also Dual Capture that allows you to record from both sides of the phone simultaneously.

Motorola has moved the fingerprint scanner from the side on the 4G variant to the back on the 5G model. It has also bumped the battery capacity from 4000mAh to 5000mAh though it still disappointingly supports 10W charging. Other features are Bluetooth 5.1, FM Radio, an audio jack, and a redesigned stylus that is cylindrical all through which allows it to be inserted into the silo in any way. The phone runs My UX based on Android 11 out of the box and has ThinkShield For Mobile which brings business-grade security.

The Moto G Stylus 5G will go on sale starting June 14 and it will be available in Cosmic Emerald on Amazon and on Motorola’s official website.

Motorola is practically the only manufacturer left that still makes budget phones with a stylus. With LG Mobile now dead, it means fans of the LG Stylo series will have to look to Motorola’s phones as their only available option or up their budget and grab a Samsung phone.

However, this tradition is not common among other manufacturers, which is why when it happens, it is notable. Vivo has decided to jump on this trend with its budget mid-range 5G phone, the Vivo Y52s.

The Vivo Y52s was launched in December 2020 and it had a MediaTek Dimensity 720 processor under its hood. The manufacturer has now quietly announced a new version of the phone with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 5G processor.

Officially called the Vivo Y52s (t1 edition), the phone has the same specifications as the one that launched back in December save for the MediaTek processor that has now been replaced with a Qualcomm one.

The Vivo Y52s (t1 edition) is priced at ¥1999 (~$309) and has 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. There is also an 8GB RAM + 128GB version but it is not available for purchase yet and its price is not known.

The Dimensity 720 version which was launched in 6GB and 8GB RAM variants with 128GB of storage is now available in a new 8GB RAM + 256GB version for the same price mentioned above.

The two versions of the phone have a 6.58-inch LCD display with a waterdrop notch, a 90Hz refresh rate, and a 180Hz touch sampling rate. The display has a DCI-P3 color gamut and is HDR10 certified.

On the back of the Vivo Y52s is a 48MP main camera paired with a 2MP depth sensor. The selfie camera is an 8MP camera and it has a night mode like the rear. The phone has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, an audio jack, and a 5000mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging. Both phones are available in Coral Sea, Monet, and Titanium Gray, however, the Coral Sea variant of the Snapdragon version is not yet in stock. You can grab the phone on Jingdong.

This year is expected to be no different, and Qualcomm has decided to take the lead with a new 5G chipset, the Snapdragon 480 5G.

The Snapdragon 480 5G is a significant chipset not only for Qualcomm but also for the mobile industry at large. The Snapdragon 400 series is known to power phones and tablets in the ~$150 category, and with this new chipset, it means we should expect 5G phones that can be bought for less than $150 to hit markets soon.

The Snapdragon 480 5G is an 8nm octa-core processor. The shift to a smaller node size from the 11nm mode of the Snapdragon 460 will bring improvements in efficiency and power management. Qualcomm says the Kryo 460 CPU and Adreno 619 GPU each bring an improvement of over 100% over its predecessor.

The processor has a Snapdragon X51 5G modem that brings support for sub-6Ghz and mmWave networks and both SA and NSA modes. The chipset is also Wi-Fi 6-ready and boasts connectivity speeds that reach up to 9.6 Gbps. It also has support for WPA3 security protocols.

The Snapdragon 480 5G has a Spectra 345 image signal processor that supports a single camera up to 64MP. The ISP allows for simultaneous capturing from all three (wide, ultrawide, and telephoto) cameras. It also supports HEIF photo capture and HEVC video capture. Support for FHD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate combined with Qualcomm aptX audio means that users can enjoy smooth gaming with great audio. The Hexagon 686 inside the processor brings a 70% improvement in AI performance compared to the previous generation. And last but not the least, Qualcomm states that the chipset also supports Quick Charge 4+.

HMD Global, OnePlus, and OPPO to launch Snapdragon 480 5G phones

According to a Tweet by known tipster Mukul Sharma (@stufflistings), the chip making giant is reportedly going to unveil the Snapdragon 480 5G processor today. The new chip is based on an 8nm process and features the Kyro 460 octa cores that can clock up to 2GHz. As per the tweet, the new chipset offers a 100 percent improvement in performance over the previous generation’s Snapdragon 460 and the Adreno 619 GPU.

The leakster also added that the new chipset will support up to 120Hz refresh rate displays. Meaning, we might soon possibly see certain affordable handsets launching with high refresh rate display panels as well.
