It is one of the major rivals for the Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus that carries a similar pricing. On AnTuTu, the Meizu M6S that is powered by Samsung’s Exynos 7872 has scored higher than the Redmi 5 Plus that is powered by Snapdragon 625.

In the below image, the average AnTuTu score is shown on the left side whereas the benchmarking score of Meizu M6S is on the right. The Meizu M6S and Redmi 5 Plus have respectively scored 88133 and 76192 on AnTuTu.

The Snapdragon 625 is an 14nm chipset features an octa-core processor that includes two quad-core clusters of CortexA52 that delivers a maximum speed of 2.0 GHz along with Adreno 506 graphics. On the other side, the Exynos 7872 is a brand-new chipset from Samsung that has arrived first on the Meizu M6S. It is also a 14nm chipset that features a hexa-core processor that includes two cores of Cortex A73 that clocks at 2.0 GHz and four cores of Cortex A53 that works at 1.6 GHz. It includes Mali-G71 graphics.

The Snapdragon 625 is well-known for its efficiency. However, by looking at the AnTuTu scores of Meizu M6S and Redmi 5 Plus it can be understood that when it comes to performance, the Exynos 7872 seems to be a better performing chipset.

The Meizu M6S will be officially available for buying starting from Jan. 19. Its base model featuring 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage and high version that includes 3 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage are respectively priced at 999 Yuan (~$155) and 1,199 Yuan (~$186) in China. On the other side, the Redmi 5 Plus variants with 3 GB RAM + 32 GB storage and 4 GB + 64 GB storage are available in the country with respective pricing of 999 Yuan (~$155) and 1,299 Yuan (~$201).

The rebranding made sense, since these two chipsets were much more powerful than its other SD600 series counterparts. The first SD652 smartphones started appearing around early 2016 and since then we have seen an influx of solid mid-rangers powered by this chip. In fact, even in 2017, there were a few smartphones with SD652, like the standard edition of the Nubia Z17 Mini.

The chipset was quite popular among mid-rangers, but that was more than a year ago. In 2018, the Snapdragon 652 is nearly two years old and technically, it’s three generations old now: succeeded first by SD653 (October 2016) and then by SD660 (May 2017).

So, despite its popularity back in the day, does it make sense to use Snapdragon 652 inside a $500 HTC U11 Eyes upper mid-ranger announced in 2018?

To be honest, using Snapdragon 653 would have made more sense. It’s slightly faster, features a new generation X9 LTE modem, and is just over a year old. It’s like a refreshed SD652, with small upgrades. The performance is slightly better given its higher clock speed, and it scores around 90,000 points vs 78,000 by SD652 in the AnTuTu benchmark. Similar difference can be found in other benchmark scores as well.

Ideally, for a upper mid-range device like the HTC U11 Eyes, the Snapdragon 660 would have been perfect. But the company likely skipped on the chipset in order to save cost. Another possible option would have been the SD636, which although comes from the lower SD63X series, is quite powerful thanks to its 8 x Kryo 260 custom cores (same ones found on the SD660 chip) clocked at 1.8GHz. It’s much more advanced as well, featuring Qualcomm’s aptX codec technology, Spectra 160 ISP, X12 LTE modem (Cat. 13), and manufactured on a much efficient 14nm node. In all counts, the SD636 would have been another option that was better than the SD652.

For a tech enthusiast, seeing Snapdragon 652 on a 2018 upper mid-range smartphone is really a disappointment. But end of the day, for a regular smartphone user, SD652 could be sufficient. With the right UI optimisations, you should still see all the features work smoothly, with minimal lag. It may not be very quick in opening apps as other 2017 / 18 smartphones, but it sure has enough firepower to get the job done. Agreed, SD653 would have been better, but the difference wouldn’t have been significant. Maybe that’s why HTC didn’t care to use an updated chipset on its new model. Luckily, the battery is quite large, so despite SD652 being manufactured on a larger 28nm node, battery life should be good.

So if you are not a tech enthusiast, I guess you could live with the Snapdragon 652 inside an upper mid-range smartphone like the U11 Eyes. Moreover, other features of the phone like IP67 certification, Edge Sense, Dual Front cameras, HTC U11’s Rear sensor, and Android Oreo definitely helps in making the SD652 powered U11 Eyes likeable. You can read more about the HTC U11 Eyes in our launch article.

Their other concerns include a very popular anti-virus software business among others. The 360 Mobiles arm is known for the manufacture of sleek devices adorning a powerful specs lineup with cheap price tags. A new GFXBench appearance by a 360 Mobiles phone has revealed that the company may be working on a 6GB RAM phone.

It is not that 360 Mobiles has not got a 6GB RAM phone, the 360 N5 was launched earlier this year packing 6GB of RAM and a Snapdragon 653 Systems-on-Chips (SoC). But the GFXBench data show they are working on something similar in hardware to the N5. The device appears with the codename QiKU 1607-A01 but since QiKU has changed to Qihoo 360 which now manufactures devices under the ‘360’ branding, the device is certainly a 360 Mobile model.

If the 6GB of RAM sounds interesting to you, other specs might douse your interest as the device still remains a mid-range model. The 360 Mobiles phone is listed as sporting a 5.7-inch 1080p display and will be fired up by a 1.8GHz 64bit Octa-core chip believed to be a Snapdragon 652 chip due to the presence of the Adreno 510 GPU. It is even possible that this is a similar Snapdragon 653 on the N5 and N5s since both chips will have the same motherboard. Providing the interface will be an Android 7.1 Nougat OS.

Read More: 360 N5S 32GB Version Announced for ¥1399 ($205)

We can’t say what particular name this device will launch with but it may likely be a Plus sized variant of the 360 N5. A 360 N5 Plus sounds logical considering the display is a little bigger than the 5.5-inch N5 and N5s which was also launched recently with a Snapdragon 653 chip as well. We can’t be so sure about that though, but we expect it to come with a cheap price tag just like previous models.

(source)

The company took the wraps off the top mid-ranger today in a ceremony held in China. These hands-on images completely unmask the Nubia Z17 Mini giving us a view of the beautiful design characteristic of Nubia.

The Nubia Z17 Mini comes in four different colours which include champagne gold, black gold, red and elegant black and all four variants are featured here. Red is turning out to be the new trendy colour which is becoming a regular on most brands. It looks super attractive adorned in red and even the other colours look no less attractive. The champagne gold variant comes with white bezels around the display while the other colors have black bezels.

The Z17 Mini retains the tradition Nubia design language but with some prominent features like the dual-lens camera at the rear. The phone comes with a slim body which is 7.45mm thick and is made up of 97% metal body. There is no physical home button instead, the Z17 Mini uses a virtual button and in order to identify the location of the virtual home button, there is a small, red-colored ring at the centre. The edges of the phone are well chamfered, suited for easy grip with one hand.

Perhaps, the most stand-out feature on the Nubia Z17 Mini is the dual camera setup at the rear, as well as the large pixel selfie shooter. The main camera is a powerful 13MP Sony IMX258 sensor and the secondary sensor is a black and white camera which is likely a depth of field camera. The dual camera supports 0.1s mixed focus and also 4K ultra-high definition video recording. It can also capture in slow motion and has time lapse feature. You can check out more sleek photos of the Nubia Z17 Mini after this line.

Nubia has gone all out with this new device and the specifications puts it at the top of the higher mid-range phones.

Nubia Z17 Mini Design

Nubia has settled for a full-metal design on the Z17 Mini. The front is however covered with glass from top to bottom. The dual rear cameras are positioned on the same line as the antenna and they feature Nubia’s signature red outline.

The front of the phone doesn’t sport the physical home button/fingerprint scanner seen on the Nubia M2. All you have is the red holo capacitive key staring at you. At the top, there is the earpiece which is flanked on the left by the front camera and at the top by the proximity sensor.

Nubia has released the Z17 Mini in four different colors. You can pick from either champagne gold, black gold, red or elegant black.

Nubia Z17 Mini Specs

The Z17 Mini sports a 5.2-inch display with 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass for protection. The display offers a 85% color gamut and boasts a ppi of 424.

The memory configuration is quite impressive. You either get 6GB or 4GB of RAM but built-in storage remains 64GB on both versions. The difference in RAM is replicated in the processor too. The 6GB RAM variant is powered by Qualcomm’s MSM8976 Pro (Snapdragon 653) while the 4GB RAM variant gets the Snapdragon 652 processor. The Snapdragon 653 offers a 10% increase in performance just like the Snapdragon 821 does over the Snapdragon 820. So unless you need the extra memory and power boost, the 4GB RAM variant is cool.

Storage on both variants can be expanded via a MicroSD card (200GB max.), but you will have to sacrifice the second SIM slot to do that.

For connectivity, the NUbia Z17 Mini has dual band WiFi, NFC, GPS, and Bluetooth 4.1. There is DTS Audio Enhancement, a USB Type-C port, and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. Nubia has settled for a non-removable 2950mAh battery to power the Z17 Mini and will be shipping it with Nubia UI 4.0 based on Android Marshmallow.

Nubia Z17 Mini Cameras

You must have noticed I didn’t mention anything about the camera in the specs, that’s because it deserves to be separated. The rear cameras on the phone are dual Sony IMX258 f/2.2 sensors. One of the sensors shoots in color while the other shoots in black and white. The lens are covered by sapphire glass and there is EIS and OIS so you can take and record steady shots and videos. The front camera is a 16MP sensor with an 80° wide-angle lens and a f/2.0 aperture.

Nubia has also upgraded its camera UI, NeoVision to version 6. The upgrade brings new features such as portrait mode, time lapse pictures, monochrome pictures, 3D pictures and even supports aperture adjustment.

Nubia Z17 Mini Price

The 4GB + 64GB Z17 Mini will sell for ¥1699 ($247) and will go on sale on the 13th of April on Nubia’s official website, Lynx, and Suning.

The 6GB + 64GB model is priced at ¥1999 ($290) and will also be available on the 13th of April at 10 am on the official site, offline stores, and on Jingdong.

The Nubia Z17 Mini is not Nubia’s first dual camera phone, the Nubia M2 gets that title. We can’t tell which one takes better pictures but we hope to provide a comparison in future.

Later we found out that the phone will be called the Nubia Z17 Mini and also got a full reveal of its specifications.

Today we have new details concerning the phone. The new info comes in form of a leaked image showing the front of the Nubia Z17 Mini. While there is not much in terms of design, the major reveal is the presence of a pill-shaped home button.

This is a deviation from previous Nubia phones which have the signature capacitive red circle as the home key. We can’t tell if this is a clickable button. We also do not know if there is a fingerprint scanner embedded underneath the button since there is no image of the rear. Fans of the Nubia line will be happy to see that the red circle is still there though.

Another thing we can see is that the Nubia Z17 Mini doesn’t get the nearly bezel-less sides like the Nubia Z11. Chances are they are saving that design for the Nubia Z17. We also think the top and bottom bezels could be thinner. The phone will be the first dual camera phone from the manufacturer. Turns out the device is called the Nubia Z17 Mini!!!

The name was leaked on Weibo by “@Kunamato Science” and also includes the full specs of the device. First, let’s talk about the name. Nubia released the Z11 series last year, so we are pretty surprised at the jump to 17. Apart from that, the name also hints that we will probably get to see a Z17 and probably a Z11 Max too.

The Nubia Z17 Mini will be available in multiple color variants with different configurations. There will be a black gold and gold variant with a Snapdragon 652 processor and 4GB of RAM and a Snapdragon 653 SoC + 6GB RAM respectively. There will also be a blue variant with 4GB of RAM and a Snapdragon 653 processor. Storage on all variants will be 64GB (eMMC 5.0).

All versions will have dual 13MP Sony IMX258 cameras on the rear and a 16MP camera up front for selfies. The Nubia Z17 Mini will sport a 5.2-inch 1080p display. A 3000mAh battery will power the phone and it will have support for Quick Charge 3.0. There will also be a USB Type-C port and pricing for the Nubia Z17 Mini will be capped at ¥1899 ($275).

The leakster also says that the Nubia Z17 Mini won’t have its camera design stacked side by side on the left. But will instead be positioned in the middle of the phone and stacked on top of each other.

What do you think about the Nubia Z17 Mini? Impressive but confusing specs sums it up.

This Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 could be a Snapdragon-powered version of the Redmi Note 4 that was released in August 2016.

The new Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 is said to have appeared on the US FCC website where it received certification. The certification website reveals a basic image of the device, which is similar to the Redmi Note 4. According to the information, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 will sport a 5.5-inch display with a rear fingerprint sensor. The device will also pack a large 4,000mAh battery under its hood with 5v, 2A charging support but no fast charging technology.

The phone could come with a Snapdragon chip like Snapdragon 652. However, at this moment, the specs of this particular are not very clear.

Xiaomi’s Redmi series have a trademark of being thousand yuan smartphones with studded features. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 came as a successor to the highly successful Redmi Note 3 which dominated the domestic thousand yuan smartphone category in China back then, but the Redmi Note 4 was unable to match the success of the Redmi Note 3. Perhaps the new Redmi Note 4 version can re-capture the thousand yuan smartphone category for Xiaomi. It is not known when the device will be released, but popping up at FCC perhaps indicate a release outside China. The device may likely be launched at the MWC 2017.

The price of the Snapdragon variant of the Le 2 has been slashed down by ¥200 (~$29) and you can now pick it up for just ¥899 (~$130), which is not bad as long as you can live with its lack of an audio jack.
The Cool1C which we guess might be the short form of the phrase ”Cool 1 (Dual) with one Camera” has a 5.5-inch full HD display, a Snapdragon 652 SoC, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, and a 4060mAh battery. It’s main camera is a 13MP sensor with an f/2.0 aperture, 6P lens, and PDAF. It can also shoot 4K videos at 30fps!!! There is an f/2.2 8MP camera in front for selfies.

The Cool1C has dual SIM slots with Full Netcom support. There is Bluetooth 4.1, dual-band WiFi, an IR Blaster, a 3.5mm audio jack, and a fingerprint scanner below the camera.

Design wise, they are identical if you place them side by side facing up. The position of the sensor and front facing camera is the same with that of the Cool1 Dual and it still has that annoying black frame that runs around the screen. If you placed them with their screens flat on the table, you wouldn’t be able to tell them apart from afar as LeEco decided to still use the same camera housing design, tricking your eyes into believing the Cool1C has dual cameras. It’s only when you take a closer look, you’d notice that the second 13MP camera is missing.

The LeEco Cool1C will retail for just ¥899 ($131) when it goes on sale on the 6th of December, making it probably the cheapest Snapdragon 652 phone with a 4K camera in the market right now. The Cool1C will sadly not have a 4GB RAM + 64GB ROM variant.

This was done in a news conference held in San Francisco where the Chinese company also unveiled a couple of other new products including the LeEco Le S3.

The LeEco Le Pro 3 flagship was released in China in September boasting of a powerful specs line-up yet cheap price tag. LeEco seems to be capitalizing on the cheap price tag of its Snapdragon 821-powered Le Pro 3, hoping that would appeal to the teeming US populace. The Le Pro 3 no doubt has specs that an rival other flagships in the market but the US mobile market is mostly carrier based, so it remains to be seen how LeEco would perform out there.

To recap, the leEco Le Pro 3 features a 5.5-inch Full HD display and is powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 821 processor along with 4GB of RAM as well as 64GB of built-in storage. The flagship device packs a massive 4,070mAh battery and comes with support for Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 which can deliver 33% of charge in just 20 minutes. There is a whopping 16MP rear camera on the phone which boots Android Marshmallow 6.0 out-of-the-box. The phone doesn’t feature a 3.5mm audio jack instead there is a USB Type-C port.

The Le Pro 3 carries a price tag of $399 in the United States and that’s going to be off-contract but there is an $100 discount on offer so buyers will actually pay just $299 and its not locked to any network. LeEco is also offering as an added incentive, three months of free EcoPass which provides users with up to 5TB cloud storage, unlimited photo and video storage. Users also get exclusive access to LeEco sales, and an extended warranty.

In addition to the Le Pro 3, LeEco also announced a mid-range smartphone dubbed Le S3. The LeEco Le S3 sports a 5.5-inch Full HD display as the Le Pro 3 but is powered by a Snapdragon 652 chipset which is backed by 3GB of RAM and has a modest 32GB of internal storage. The Le S3 also features a 16MP rear camera with LED flash and an 8MP front-facing camera.

Back in July, Samsung launched a new series in Hong Kong. The C-Series already has two phones under its belt, the C5 and C7 and are mid-range devices that are less expensive than the international A-series. The company thinks it’s time for a new model to be added to the line-up in form of the large screen Samsung C9.

According to Antutu, the Samsung C9 is not just packing a large screen, 6” to be precise. It will also feature 6GB of RAM which is more than the S7 and S7 Edge flagships have. The phone will also sport Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 652 processor, a full HD screen, and 16MP cameras on the rear and up front.

The phone will also get 64GB of built-in storage which should probably be UFS 2.0, seeing as some of the other details scream flagship level. There’s an Adreno 510 GPU on board and it runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.

The phone sports a 5.5” FHD display like the Note 3, it also comes in two RAM+ROM variants (2GB+16GB and 3GB+64GB).

Apart from the storage option doubled in the 3GB RAM version, the other major change in the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 is the Mediatek Helio X20 SoC.

Most people speculated that Xiaomi will launch another version with a Snapdragon 652 processor, just like they launched a snapdragon 650 version of the Redmi Note 3, which originally came with a Helio X10 chip. But analyst, Pan Jiutang says that will not be happening.

So for those of you who have been staving off the purchase of a Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 because you are expecting a snapdragon version, Mr Jiutang says your wish will not be fulfilled so you better pick up the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 now.

If Xiaomi truly doesn’t launch a snapdragon version of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4, that doesn’t mean they won’t do so for the Xiaomi Redmi Pro, which in my opinion needs a snapdragon version more than the former.

Don’t want to wait for Xiaomi?

China’s Weibo is the home to many rumors and speculations about upcoming products and earlier today, a new leak seems to have thrown some light on the possible specifications of the next generation Qualcomm Snapdragon 653 (MSM8976Pro) chipset. This should be the successor to the Snapdragon 652 octa-core chip that powers many flagship grade models in the market today.

According to the leak, the Snapdragon 653 will be manufactured using the same 28nm process as the 652, which is kind of disappointing. Further, in the specs department, the leak reveals some changes. So, the new 653 (MSM8976Pro) chip is expected to come with the same octa-core architecture as its predecessor, however, it will be 4 x Cortex A73 @ 2GHz + 4 x Cortex A53 @1.4GHz. Another upgrade will be in the GPU department, this time coming with Adreno 515 clocked at 550MHz. Other rumored features include LTE Cat. 9 3 x 60MHz CA, Bluetooth 4.1, 802.11 ac Wi-Fi support, LPDDR4 RAM, Dual ISP and 24MP Camera sensor support.

At this moment, we can’t verify the authenticity of this leak, so it’s best to take it with a pinch of salt.

360 Mobiles have released impressive smartphones like the 360 N4 and F4 this year. Now, the company is all set to release an upgraded version of the N4, called as the 360 N4S. Earlier, we had reported that the new device was going to come with the same specs as the N4, except for a larger battery measuring 4920mAh. Now, we have spotted a new leak which reveals that the 360 N4S may actually come with even better specifications, including a variant that has 6GB of RAM inside.

So, now it is been said that the 360 N4S will arrive in two variants. We have already seen the first variant on TENAA, featuring the deca-core Helio X20. But there will most likely be a second variant, which will be much more powerful, featuring Snapdragon 652 octa-core processor and 6GB of RAM on board. The leak further reveals that the phone will feature a 1080p display and will come with 64GB of internal storage. Finally, the phone in the image is running on Android 6 Marshmallow with 360 OS on top.

The placement of this phone with such powerful specs makes it a bit confusing. We haven’t seen a Snapdragon 652 smartphone with 6GB of RAM on board as all flagships before have come with the top-end Snapdragon 820. But 360’s N series is not really a flagship lineup, rather a mid-range family. So, it kind of makes sense to use SD652 instead of SD820 as the latter will most likely end up on the top-end Q series family from the company.

Another interesting piece of information about the 360 N4S is the battery on board. We had seen that the Helio X20 powered variant on TENAA and it came with a massive 4920mAh battery. So, even this particular variant could end up with such a large battery, making it one of the best mid-rangers in the market today.

The 360 N4S variant seen on TENAA came with a metal body in gold and 4GB RAM with Helio X20. The pricing is expected to start at 1499 Yuan ($225), which will be aggressive.

The company will make the phone official on July 15.

The company has already confirmed a few features on the device like a 16MP front-facing shooter, but at that time we were unsure about the CPU and RAM inside. Given that most smartphone manufacturers are now not shy to reveal major specs about its handsets, Vivo has just confirmed the CPU as well as RAM inside the new Vivo X7 via a new teaser.

Earlier today, Vivo revealed via an official teaser that the Vivo X7 will feature MSM8976 chipset inside, which is the Snapdragon 652 octa-core processor. The company also confirms that the phone comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. There’s also the mention of wisdom engine 2.0 which is a self-learning engine that reportedly ensures that the CPU and memory performance are top-notch via smart resource scheduling. In case you remember, wisdom engine was also present on the company’s 6GB RAM flagship, the Vivo XPlay 5.

Today’s teaser also confirms the design of the device. As expected, the phone will be quite slim and will continue using a design similar to the Vivo X6 flagship that was announced back in 2015. One major difference between the two is going to be the fingerprint sensor. The Vivo X6 had the sensor at the back, while the new X7 will sport it up front, below the display. Another thing confirmed is the color. So, it looks like the phone will come in gold along with a few other color options.

So, the Vivo X7 is turning out to be a powerful flagship. Apart from these specs, which place the phone in the upper mid-range segment, the X7 is also confirmed to sport a powerful 16MP camera up front with moonlight soft lights. This phone is naturally targeted at selfie lovers, who want a good front facing camera.

Considering its specs, and the fact that this is a Vivo device, don’t expect the phone to come for cheap. Last year’s Vivo X7 started at a price of 2500 Yuan ($380). So, expect the Vivo X7 to start around this figure too.

Gionee is not a new name to those familiar with android. They have actually got a large following in China and India and are the OEM for American phone company, BLU. The S6 Pro is their upcoming device.

Towards the end of last year, Gionee released the all-metal Gionee S6 which by its specs can be classified as a mid-range device. With the new announcement, Gionee thinks it’s time the phone got an upgrade.

The S6 Pro will be wearing Gionee’s new logo and based on information on TENAA, while it will be getting an FHD AMOLED screen compared to the original S6 which has a 720p screen, it will retain the same 5.5″ screen size. RAM has been bumped up to 4GB and ROM will come in 32GB or 64GB variants. Gionee hasn’t settled on what SoC will be used but we might see the phone sporting a Snapdragon 652 or a Mediatek Helio P10. There is going to be a 13MP camera on the back which is slightly protruding and an 8MP front facing camera for those wonderful selfies.

The phone is fuelled by a 3130mAh battery and will come with Android Marshmallow with Gionee’s Amigo OS overlay. The S6 Pro will have 4G LTE and is expected to feature a USB Type-C port. Gionee has released teasers for the phone which confirms that the S6 Pro will launch on the 13th of June.

From the pictures, we can see that Gionee has ditched the capacitive buttons on the original S6 in favor of a physical home key which will also house a fingerprint scanner. Pricing still remains unknown.

LeEco had a big event in India today, wherein it launched two of its updated smartphones, namely Le Max 2 and the Le 2 in the market. This will be the second generation LeEco devices in the Indian market, and these two phones will succeed Le Max and Le 1S models which were announced a while back. Like expected, the company won’t be releasing the Le 2 Pro in the region.

LeEco has priced the Le Max 2 and Le 2 aggressively in India. The Le 2 is priced at just Rs. 11,999 which comes to just around $180. This is pretty close to the phone’s price tag in China, which comes to $170. But what’s interesting is that the Le 2 that is sold in India will be powered by the Snapdragon 652 chipset, instead of the Helio X20 that powers the Chinese variant.

Also, like we mentioned in the launch article in April as well as our review of the Le 2 and Le Max 2, both the devices don’t come with a standard 3.5mm headphone jack. Instead, the company has placed its bet on the CDLA lossless music standard that works via the USB Type-C port. You can purchase the USB Type-C headphones at Rs. 1990 which comes to around $30.

Other specs of the device remain the same. So, the Le 2 comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of non-expandable storage, 16MP rear camera, and 8MP front shooter. You get a 5.5-inch 1080p display on the front and inside, a 3000mAh battery. With Snapdragon 652 on board, this becomes the cheapest device with this octa-core chip. Definitely makes it a powerful handset in its price category.

Coming to the Le Max 2, the phone comes is priced at Rs. 22,999 ($345) for the 4GB RAM + 32GB version and Rs. 29,999 ($449) for the 6GB RAM + 64GB version. In case you are wondering, these prices, especially for the 6GB RAM version, are a bit higher than the Chinese pricing. In China, the Le Max 2 4GB RAM variant comes for around $324 while the 6GB RAM version retails for $386.

To recap, the Le Max 2 comes with the mighty Snapdragon 820 quad-core chip inside with a 21MP rear camera, 8MP front camera, 5.7-inch QHD display and 3100mAh battery with fast charging.

A few days back, ZUK CEO Chang Cheng revealed via Weibo that he spent a day with the ZUK Z2 smartphone and Exynos 8890 inside the device felt good. Now, this should have been a confirmation that the upcoming smartphone was going to feature Samsung’s best chipset. But to make things confusing, ZUK has released the first teaser for the ZUK Z2 and guess what, it features a large Qualcomm Snapdragon logo up front. It is a clear indication that the upcoming smartphone is going to come with a Snapdragon chipset inside.

The poster also confirms a few things about the device. First of all, ZUK is marketing the phone as a small screen flagship. So unlike the ZUK Z2 Pro which comes with a 5.2-inch display, we can expect a screen lesser than 5-inches on this device. Second, the image confirms that the launch event will be on May 31 in Beijing, China.

RELATED: ZUK Z2 Pro vs Le Max 2 vs Xiaomi Mi 5

Now, coming back to the confused part, the processor inside. It is said that the Z2 could come with either Snapdragon 820 or Snapdragon 652 chipset, the second one being more likely. This is because, CEO had already teased the presence of Exynos 8890 inside the phone, which means there could be a top-end ZUK Z2 model which will come with this Samsung Exynos chip. If that’s the case, then a Snapdragon 652 octa-core chip would be a better choice for the low-end model.

As for the specs, earlier rumors have said that the phone will come with a 4.7-inch 1080p display along with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of ROM. Up front, there will be an 8MP camera while at the back, there will be a 13MP sensor. The battery is said to be large, of 4100mAh capacity, which would be great considering its size.

This could be the ideal small screen flagship in the market for buyers, but we will have to wait for the announcement to confirm these specs. The CEO also released a render of the upcoming flagship recently. You can read more about that from here.

Stay tuned for more details.

Meanwhile, some alleged pictures of the ZUK Z2 have been leaked in white. Check them out from below.

Like most Chinese manufacturers, the company has used MediaTek chipsets to keep the price as low as possible on the first two models. The Le 2 comes with the Helio X20 chip while the slightly costlier model, the Le 2 Pro comes with a more powerful Helio X25 chipset. However, it looks like LeEco might have a Snapdragon powered variant as well for its fans, at least for the Le 2 budget model. The phone is said to come with an option of Snapdragon 652 inside. However, we are yet to receive an official confirmation from the company about such a version.

It was recently reported that the Le 2 model with Snapdragon 652 inside was listed and will soon go on sale. The phone was spotted with 32GB ROM inside and came in three colours, gold, silver and grey. Interestingly, the pricing was kept the same as the Helio X20 powered model, i.e. 1099 Yuan which comes to around $168.

This could easily make the Le 2, the cheapest Snapdragon 652 smartphone in the market. This is possible since this Chinese giant tends to resort to negative profit pricing for its phones. If you remember, the recently released Xiaomi Max phablet had a SD652 version, but that costs around $260. This would be way cheaper than that.

So, if LeEco did release a SD652 powered Le 2 model, would you choose that version or the one with Helio X20 inside?

Now, an unknown smartphone was spotted at an event for the LeEco Sports division, which could be the new Le 2 smartphone. The event was for the B Round funding of the Sports division of the company, wherein an executive was seen with the new device in hand.

It looks quite similar to the Le Max Pro handset, but Chinese media are of the opinion that this is a new device, most likely the Le 2. These pictures were directly released by the company’s official account earlier today.

While we are still doubtful about the identity of the phone in hand, what we do know is that the company is planning to release a new phone on April 20. LeEco has just released a new teaser via its Le smartphone official channel, where it starts a countdown for 8 days to the event.

Given that we have been hearing a lot about the Le 2 smartphone for the past few weeks, its very likely that the phone will meet us at the event on April 20. The specs as well as the design of the phone have already been leaked a couple of times, so we know what to expect.

Recent TENAA listing of the Le 2 revealed that the phone will come with Helio X20 chip inside with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. There will be a 5.5-inch 1080p display on board. At the back, the phone will feature a 16MP shooter with dual tone flash and a fingerprint sensor. The phone comes with Android 6.0 with EUI and a 3000mAh battery.

This should be just one of the two versions of the Le 2. Another version is rumored to come with either Snapdragon 820 or Snapdragon 652 chip inside. Expect more details in the coming days.

But even before the phone’s release, we have been hearing rumors about the Vivo Xshot 3, the next generation version in the popular Xshot series. Now, we might have got some idea what chip to expect in this upcoming smartphone.

According to insider news sources, Vivo will be one of the first manufacturers that will use the rebranded Snapdragon 652 aka Snapdragon 620. We have seen reports which state that Samsung’s Galaxy A9 will probably be the first smartphone to feature this chip, however, when it comes to domestic manufacturers, Vivo should be the first one.

If that’s the case, then what better smartphone to debut this chip other than the Vivo XShot 3. We have been waiting for this particular flagship for quite some time now. Plus, Snapdragon 652 with Cortex A72 cores is expected to be as powerful as the Snapdragon 810 but without any heating issues. As a result, the Xshot 3 could turn out to be the perfect phone to feature this new chip.

We have already seen some alleged pictures of the XShot 3 a month back. The phone looked big, with a display around 6-inches and a basic design as the Vivo X6. Also, at the back, it had a fingerprint sensor like the X6. Given that the XShot series is known for its powerful camera, we can expect something great to adorn the back of the phone.

Vivo is yet to officially confirm any of this information, so we better wait for some more details before getting too excited.

A couple of months back, Qualcomm officially unveiled the Snapdragon 620 and Snapdragon 618 chipsets. Despite coming from the 600 series lineup, both the chips were quite powerful as compared to its earlier releases like Snapdragon 615.

Looks like the company realized that naming these chips as Snapdragon 618 and 620 won’t really differentiate them from the other mid-range chips in the lineup. As a result, Qualcomm has officially rebranded both the chips as Snapdragon 650 (formerly called as Snapdragon 618) and Snapdragon 652 (formerly called as Snapdragon 620).

Here’s the official statement from the company regarding this change. “Because of this, Qualcomm Technologies is making minor adjustments within the product lineup to better reflect the positioning and capabilities of these two processors by renaming the Snapdragon 620 and 618 to the Snapdragon 652 and 650, respectively.”

It’s actually a clever decision by the company. Snapdragon 615 chips are found mostly in mid-range devices, and as compared with chips like the MT6752, it’s not very powerful. Also, the 618 and 620 SoCs are not really successors of this chip, instead, the recently announced Snapdragon 616 can be considered as the true successor. So, it’s always better to differentiate them properly in order to avoid any confusion.

Snapdragon 650 comes with six cores, two Cortex A72, and four Cortex A53 cores. The Snapdragon 652 is even more powerful, featuring four Cortex A72 cores and four Cortex A53 cores. So, it’s really not fair to consider them in the same range as the Snapdragon 616 series. Hence, the rebranding.

What do you think about this move? Do you think rebranding them as 650 series chips will help them = in the long run?
